Hey all! So I'm already starting to brainstorm on community challenges for CK:F. We've had so much fun doing them with STF and I am very much looking forward to the CK:F versions! I actually already have one in the works that will be coming very soon (a little mini-challenge), but I want to hear your ideas for community challenges.

What do you think would make for a fun challenge? Obviously with the game in EA our options are going to continue to grow as the game expands, but I think there is already fertile ground for a lot of fun options. You can think about combat, cosmetics, rp theming, the sky is the limit! Some ideas to get you thinking: a Go Loud challenge, show us your coordinated team, loot all the things challenge, etc.

Really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas. These are so much fun and I really enjoy doing the community challenges with you all!

a Give Peace a Chance challenge--finish some specific mission without killing anyone

a No Exchange challenge. victory in Dead Drop Hit using only the initial loadout and Talents of each merc--no swapping, no purchasing, no training. (swapping and respec allowed to return mercs to initial state if changes were made prior to Dead Drop Hit)

A Lone Ranger challenge. Finish some specific mission with just one merc.

a Bridal Party challenge. Create a squad wearing non-identical but color-coordinated outfits.

a Treasure Hunt challenge. Get all loot from lockboxes and Matrix in Forward Op.

a Speed Racer challenge. Finish Haven Smokeout in 8 Turns or less. Ghostwire is optional.

Definitely sounds like there is a good bit of interest in challenges that are “go loud”

"Scorched Earth" don't leave a mission until you kill at least twice as much guards as the map started with.

My suggestions are based more on seeing what is left after you forego the most powerful tools. I also thought of "tactical surge is for suckers". If these challenges are so much harder, then some other talents need to be buffed up to offer more viable paths.

C-C-C-COMBO Have one merc kill 4 or more guards in one turn. Any Item is legal to use and plenty of help is allowed

What is a community challenge?
Are they just for fun during EA (well for now) &c or are they integrated into the game? Are they mechanically policed or honour system (meaning what is alloawable not that I don't trust people 🙂 )
Something that relies on a specific mission is awkward without making a new run (except the first couple of missions really.

they may be difficult, or they can be trivial, like best costume design

or they may simply be ways of trying alternative playstyle just for fun or to see if you can do it

some of the STF achievements might have been better as challenges, with no in-game benefits like new ship models

Smoke if you got'em: 1 or more of your squad are on a break, and must skip their turn for whole engagement, or maybe switch each round who is on break

Yeah these are not meant to be competitive or anything like that. Not built into the game, no rules lawyesring, no mechanical checks. We very specifically try to craft challenges that are easy to get into and I attempt to make sure we have a variety of challenges over time so everyone can find one they enjoy. CKF is a different game for sure from STF, so it's going to bring around different kinds of challenges, which is fun and exciting!

and sometimes the challenges aren't so much challenges as they are showcases. Things like - tell us about your Cyber Knight's right hand merc. What makes them special? What wild things have they pulled off?
Or the outfit showcases like Ahab mentioned.

mmm, maybe extend the Speed Racer challenge to 9 Turns. It can be done in 8, barely, even without using exploit, but it may be a bit too restrictive

I've done it in 7 with no loot, but getting the agent. (I'm sure It was though that might sound implausible). Drugged buffed speedy Vanguard going in at the end of turn 4? and out on turn 5 so noone gets to shoot him (they did shoot someone else who was covering)

no, not implausible, I've done it too. but that was with 1 AP moves, which I'm trying to get away from.

One AP moves you mean getting lots one dor plus a bit moves for one AP. Or does one AP just give you a bigger move?

Mostly with the former I seem to get one "partial bonus" move then it follows the dots closely, sometimes it seems to stretch to cover too.

Mass revolvers or shotguns or some other loud-as-fornicate ranged weapon to go full 180° from our melee but silenced swords-only challenge

Should give a refreshing twist and give players the pressure of managing high heat from everyone being about as subtle as a dump truck in a nitro glycerin plant

Toss all ideas out. Even if they won't work exactly as is bc of gameplay set up - I can use them to spin ideas

aight, idea time then: (you might be able to use some of these as map mutations too, if y'all were so inclined)

OSOK (One Shot One Kill) - all characters have 1 health, killing guards raises alarm level, more reinforcements in each wave

"Headshots only" - characters can only take damage if they would take 100% damage or more of their health in damage, otherwise they take 0 damage. Guards carry more damaging weapons (Hard Mode: PC's have 1 health)

"They won't stay down!" - guards can't die - will be revived at the end of their body timer instead (items that would remove or change timer status increase number of turns instead)

"Hot Drop" - PC's start each map already in combat with a few alerted guards

"Reinforce Meme" - every alarm level brings additional guards in addition to another permutations and reinforcements cannot be blocked (I swear, I'm just that unlucky guys.)

Paranoia - all guards start in suspicion status, guards go into overwatch at the end of their turn

Clear Skies - all guards have vastly increased sight lines, but won't become suspicious of you crossing their sight unless the red alert line hits you before you're behind cover (If you're fast enough, they won't even catch a glimpse of you)

"Hive Mind" - Guards are neurally linked together, killing one will stun the others temporarily but also alert all linked guards

Those are just a couple I thought of real quick, could come up with some more

All X class. Since the Merc pool is limited take another class and respec-multiclass with no points in the original tree. Couldn't do hacker or vanguard but there's options there

there isn't any special VFX or alert for a HI-POWER camera or radar array but its done that since launch

I had no Idea! I've just always assumed that security devices engage hi-power mode was a free escalation unless I was planning to run through laser fences. it having effects beyond the current map needs (imho) some clarification or highlighting in game.

Yes, HI-PWR buffs existing devices and changes their effect. Laser fences go from 20 to 80 Pure Dmg

Challange: Nobody enters, no body leaves

Finish under heat level 2, eliminate every guard and remove every body. If reinforcement arrives you lose.

Challenge: Ninja Team
Finish a Combat mission using two pure-classed Vanguards equipped with swords and pistols. (Would post recommended skills to accompany them).

Other two mercs can be who you'd like.

Bonus points if you defeat BraveStar!
