hellooo Captains! We are going to add more scores to the game that track the maximum values of things -- like maximum trade value. What other maximums do you want to track? Maximum profit for a mission, maximum ...

Just throwing some ideas out there: Maximum vessel salvage, minimum/maximum faction love/hatred, hardest ship combat hit (with type breakdown), hardest crew combat hit, largest tribute, largest crew combat hit taken and survived, total amount of tribute, largest bribe, lowest hull health, officer deaths (in addition to crew deaths), number of dice pool failures with breakdown by type (ex: ship ops failures, doctor failures, etc), times lost at sea (what sea?), and finally largest amount won and lost during space poker (what do you mean there's no space poker?).

#

Number of prize ships, largest prize ship value, and most faction rep gained/lost from a single event.

#

largest conflict score contribution, number of quarantines ended, maybe other counters related to different rumors (not sure what ones would make sense).

#

total fuel and turns wasted from "X+ fuel and turns" cards and "weeks or months lost" cards

#

Number of times visiting temple, shrine, statue or other form of homage to Shalun (what do you mean you don't do that?)

savescumming - if you can, add a counter for every time a save is loaded from a given career, like just something that increments up 1 every time someone hits the 'load' button. If nothing else it might shame people like me.

If you do opt to put this in as a stat, I think it should ignore any loads of saves from the first 15 weeks just like you're allowed to save and load during the first 15 weeks even on Hard difficulty and higher. This is often used to avoid having to respec all your crew and their talents, which is just tedious, if you have to start over.

My personal thoughts on this are that it's not really a good stat to track. I can only see it being used to shame someone and bring them down for using save files, a normal feature of many games and not really something which I feel someone should be persecuted for using. If someone is playing below Hard difficulty, then I don't think they should be made to feel bad for using the save/load feature. That's part of what makes those difficulties more forgiving.

I also feel that the game already has an adequate way of addressing your concern Dominar Wonko the Irritable. If they want to graduate up to something more challenging where saves aren't available, they can play with permadeath enabled to show their commitment to facing events head on with no take backs. This can be done with a custom difficulty mode, so you don't necessarily have to make the game more difficult to enjoy permadeath. Furthermore, the pressure from many of the unlocks requiring you to play on hard difficulty or higher pushes players to let go of save files in a natural way.

This is just my 2 cents though, so no worries if it's a feature other people want.

An alternative would be to track "time since last save" and "longest period between saves" which seem more positive in nature to me (but I could still see them causing problems).

Thought of a couple more that I think would be interesting:

  • Total units of each commodity purchased
  • Total units of each commodity sold
  • Total units of each commodity stolen from enemy ships
  • Total units of each commodity found while exploring / salvaging
  • Total units of each commodity lost to enemy ships
  • Total units of each commodity jettisoned from ship

breakdown by faction of number of ships defeated (but not destroyed), destroyed and salvaged (ex: Rychart defeated 10, destroyed 13, salvaged 4, Javat defeated ...) (EDIT: could also include numbers for "magnanimous victory"ies

#

If we had these numbers, they could tell an interesting story. For instance, my job is Xeno Hunter, but I am sure Rychart would be able to tell us a different story if they had these numbers to share...

The date of the first xeno ship encountered and the first xeno ship destroyed.

Amount of bonus XP earned from various sources, such as captain traits that grant bonus XP (bounty hunter, zealot, xeno hunter, etc). Maybe even the mundane stuff for regular XP like skill checks, missions, combat, xeno combat, etc.
