Have a lot of hours in this game, playing on imperial, and I was thinking perhaps it would be interesting to have less knowledge about incoming threats in general? This would up the paranoia further!

  1. Concretely, this is about a building that gives you some area of information, being able to see enemy fleet composition when you have it. Another thing to waste money on!

To take it further, to be able to see Enemy Fleets outside your borders at all? Otherwise, rely on random rumours and spottings and perhaps cities where you have spies that can report flyovers.

In terms of tone, perhaps these could be primitive radars that slowly scan in long line updates?

Just an idea, in case you have ideas to develop it further! I'm certainly enjoying it.

Can also imagine picket ships stationed at the borders as lookouts..

or all kinds of spymadness

Oh, and by the way, the game ICBM is a good reference regarding Radar use.

This is so bullshit and terrifying… I love it.

slow aurora
#

ok there is 2 possible ways to the radar work

#

either it shows the silhouette, or indicates the quantity of suspendium present in a location like birdwanderer suggests

silk copper

maybe less suspendium makes it harder to be detected, as a very specific buff to landships.

Yeah.. the idea, fully formed, is quite expansive.

it would be good though, cause i don't want to see that im getting invaded from across the map by some slow ass ships

slow aurora

since you electrize it, you would be feeling a stronger signal

placid heart
#

What about horizontal and vertical aerodynamics? Those are factors that can somewhat affect its visibility to radar.

a

slow aurora

first things first

#

its not aerodynamics that affects a radar

#

its how blocky something is

placid heart
#

Blockiness can affect aerodynamics

slow aurora
#

since some part of the ship needs to be pointing kinda towards the radar to receive the signal

#

but there are quite aerodynamic shapes that too dont reflect a strong signal

#

imo its too complex to be implemented

#

and quite annoying to counter tbh

placid heart
#

Well it is hard to make a warship less visible to radar in real life.

slow aurora
#

yep

#

you have to think small too, because its not a big studio that is doing the game, you cant simply take into account every single factor + realistic doesnt mean fun, balanced or fitting

#

a radar capable of detecting suspendium lift is more than enough to give the game some variability and strategy

Could incentivize taking cities for their location alone.

I feel like rather then radar this should just be like scouting radius

#

And a lot of things could increase it

#

For example garrisons and field stations
