Do you have any recommendations for a good plug-and-play microphone for streaming that's under $50? The AM8 isn't available in my country, and I've tried buying it from overseas, but the delivery cost is too high.

Your $50 do not equal to our $50. As you mentioned, every country has their marketplaces and prices.
Send a listing of microphones from which you are choosing, that way it will be easier.
It is not really possible to guess if some specific mic is available in your area.

I would not buy it if I had other options, but if it is much cheaper, it should be fine.
I believe @hybrid crater recommended it to someone before as not that terrible mic

Can you test it before paying or can you return it back if you don't like it? Or that is not an option on your marketplafce

There is an option on that. However, the seller is more "sly" than any other human being. As long as the item works, i cant return it back. And there is no way to check it is it working or not

Yeah, find out about AliExpress stuff first.

Personally, if money were a concern, I would get K688, because it sounds fine for the money. I got one for $15 for a gift, second one for $20 because a friend of mine liked it. Right now they are maybe $25-28?
AM8 is much more expensive on Ali now (around $47).

The more I spend money on new shiny things, the more I realize it is usually not worth it to nerd out too much.
Yeah, maybe tEcNiCaLlY something is slightly better or more efficient in terms of money, but a few bucks won't save you, slight difference will likely go unnoticeable. Just get what you can among good options people recommend here, any of those will be fine.

It is about that big jump from shitty tech to decent tech, from that point it is very... gradual improvements.

You are welcome. To be honest, this server is literally gold with folks like Echi and other prominent personas that always help with good audio gear, so thank them. 😄 I learned most of the stuff here.

It is so easy to get decent sound. But some people don't bother and don't know they sound bad or don't want to spend 50 bucks. How many interviews I had with people on well paid positions which sound HORRIBLY WITH THEIR AIR PODS MICROPHONES.

but it is too expensive for casual stuff like discord, meetings, interviews, even streaming
you will be almost as good with that am8

and some people want extra gear for that already expensive sm7b, like cloudlifter, which they don't usually need
and then they need audio interface
to do what? to say "i plant B" on discord? almost never worth it unless you have infinite money

By the way, make sure to buy a boom arm for the mic.
The mic stand is not gonna fly.
It is not too tall, so mic won't be close to your mouth, and since it is gonna be on your table, it's gonna collect all the sounds from your hitting that table, pressing buttons on your keyboard and so on
