Like I actually dont understand how they remotely thought that was gonna work
Idk, I just spent the movie excited on seeing what this “infiltrate the white house” plot would be
I guess, it doesnt hurt the movie, i was just genuinely curious their plan
I suppose bringing along a 70 year old man and a random 20 year old does kinda show they didnt expect to live
I think in my head I was more like “they think theyre gonna pull this off” and in reality, it was “this is suicide but we have to TRY”
Omfg right
Its one of the prettiest, unique, and action packed final battles ive seen in a while
I mean, he dismantled the fbi, sounds familiar
President is so no bueno the legitimately neutral press guy smiles with his corpse
Oh i forgot, the random GO STEELERS, got me laughing
That first bullet fired was the biggest jumpscare ive ever had in a theater
Its such a tense scene and you have no damn idea who anyone is
I wasnt expecting that at all
That dude was TORE up
But he seemed like, and i dont wanna sound morbid, fresh kill
What happened to the poor lad
This honestly takes the crown from Dunkirk on loudest movie ive ever seen
There wasn’t a moment in this movie where I was bored.
Other than Dune 2, this is probably going to end up being my favorite movie of the year
Fuck why did they cut Stephen Henderson out of dune
Dudes a phenomenal actor
Whats your thought on the presidents final scene
His last words
I was a little afraid theyd just shoot him offscreen or he would get away
Thatll do pig
I think one of the issues for a lot is that the trailers all mentioned “the california texas alliance” and people just thought the movie would absolutely be a commentary on “insert presidential candidate here”
Tbh maybe they shouldnt have done that if they didnt want people thinking theyd get a political movie
Like EVERY trailer mentioned that
I kept expecting there to be some stupid twist “oh my dads the top secret service guy” type shit
That would have ruined it so hard
You know what I love, you never really even know where they are until the end
Like you see 600 miles to DC, but that doesn’t mean much
Im shocked i liked this as much as I did
I have like, a million thoughts on this movie and all are good
Whys he gotta quit filmmaking. Make more action Alex
No not in the slightest
Why’d their friend say he was from Hong Kong
Like i get it, we dont actually know what Meth Damons gonna do, and realistically he woulda killed everyone, but maybe just lie and say “oh kentucky” or some shit
I guess, but damn, “im a foreigner” is a risky ass answer
Yeah, and all of them were likely gonna die anyway
Joel certainly wasnt going to live
“Oh Florida, Central America then”
Didnt they even mention Florida was some other alliance entirely or am i crazy
Did we ever find out if they were pro or anti president
You know whats crazy in the trailer when Plemmons asks “what kind of American are you” i really assumed it was “are you pro or anti president”. I was kinda surprised he was actually meant “you literally aren’t from North America are you” although i suppose that IS essentially the same question
Lol i thought for sure when The President was rehearsing his speech he was going to drop a trump word like “bigliest”
This was the biggest victory of all the victories, many people are saying it
Fuck i gotta see this again
Not in dbox though

I would have done Dolby but it started an hour after
My IMAX is one of the nicer LieMax
I can drive twenty minutes to this or take a 45 minute train to legitimately a top 5 IMAX in the country. I may do that or Dolby
So intense. Definitely one of the better recent depictions of war in media. The guy I was sitting next to though seem disappointed and thought this was going to be a different type of movie since he was grumbling every so often.
Honestly i see so many saying that there wasnt enough action
I get why people are upset they dont explain the politics or who every faction is, i dont agree but i get it, but this movie is filled with action and every scene is unique and gorgeously shot
lol didn't want to rehash too much on what's already said. Anyways, thinking back on it, this movie did side characters really well. I'm usually team flesh out side characters as much as possible but the writing gave just enough to make the side characters seem real and understanding what they were all about.
Like super good. Best Garland movie in awhile.
Saw this today
Basic thoughts, very good. Especially loved the visual story telling in this film, the intro to Jessie before she even says a word is incredible and just continued on from there
This is maybe my thing, its hinted at enough sure and it doesn't actually mater but it still bothered me I guess.
Tbh I absolutely would like a deep dive story into exactly what happened, but what we got from this movie did not need that added onto it, if that makes sense
Like an entirely different movie should tell that story
If this one gave the story, it would take away a lot of the neutral journalist angle,
Yeah I think I agree ultimately
Read back and yep this seems like its a film @devout holly and me both like!
It’s definitely intentionally obscured too
Like you never learn who the winter wonderland soldiers or Jesse plemons’ group are fighting for
Id smoke weed with him any day
Loudest fucking movie I’ve ever seen Jesus Christ
Dude right, its insane. I was legitimately terrified when bullets went off
was i supposed to know that one of the main characters in this movie was the fucking wolf from puss in boots
i was like "that guy was really good but i don't think i've seen him before. what else was he in" and then i got slapped in the face
You didnt know Stephen Henderson was in Puss In Boots
Lol fr I only just realized that too
I recognized him from Narcos
The main reporter dude right?
I found that out also, I was like "hey this guys pretty rad"
Yeah. Escobar on Narcos too
I remember a lot of fancasts for him for Joel in Last of Us
Guess Narcos actors really fit the bill
It was him, Pascal and the guy who played Jamie Lannister I always saw
Nah I can't se Jamie as Joel
I just see him as Jamie
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is his name
Tbh I actually did like that fancast but Pedro or Wagner would have been my number 1 and 2 choices always
I ain't gonna even pretend I know how to say ANY part of that
Lol i knew it was something like that but didnt even try to spell it
I copy and pasted LOL
This tweet has me convinced that media literacy might actually be dead
Also the mislead from the trailer made this reveal way more impactful imo
Fr. I figured this would be the scene that kinda explains more about the actual war, him just being a racist psycho with seemingly no motive other than killing was actually a good mislead
Also the character is way more interesting this way because we don’t even know what side he’s on
He’s just a racist asshole abusing his power and the situation of the war
If you thought media literacy was dead from that tweet, read the replies
People are FURIOUS this movie didnt say “you’re personal side is the good guys and the other side are crazy psycho fascists”
Honestly other than Dune 2, this is like, the best movie of the year so far, and I dont see it being beaten by much
It annoys me so much that people think the denial of politics is to appease centrists instead of being a clear artistic choice lol
Like not only is the perspective from war journalists, who are supposed to take an objective perspective, but I think it also makes the violence a lot more potent and effective
It pushes the senselessness of the violence imo
Also like, the president disbanded the FBI, stole a term, led airstrikes against citizens and was a literal textbook definition fascist. What else did they really need to say to make it clear he’s a bad guy that goes far beyond “blue or red”
