#X-Men 97

I'm glad they are keeping the fact that all the characters have their own strengths and weaknesses. Cyclops is the best but he is a dick.
The VA changed the voice too much. It was a deliberate choice and I hate it.
actually pretty good
I’d keep watching
really feels like classic childhood xmen cartoons
Middle aged heros facing their midlife crisis
Oh this is like, good
Im actually shocked
Ngl i dont usually do the cartoons, i have not seen a single episode of what if season 2 and while I watched all season 1, a lot of that was background noise, but this im actually looking forward to
I forgot everything that happened in S2 of what if
have you ever seen the original x men cartoon?
That was the one marvel cartoon ive actually watched. Ive seen bits and pieces of the others, but xmen was the only one i loved. I figured this would just be some garbage nostalgia bait
To be clear, while I watched all of it, i was 6 and remember like, nothing
I only got to the phoenix saga and then I didn’t know where else to watch the rest of the episodes
and now I forgot everything about the old series
I think I’ve seen some of the original but I have no memories. Giving this a shot now.
Fuck is Ray Chase doing here????
no, THIS is based
↘️ Quoting Weekend Warrior ☝️🐉🏆🐏 (@wwarrior_1)
holy based
I dont read xmen comics, is Magneto full of shit or does he actually want to be better. Idk if theyre adapting an existing story or if this is totally original
Im hoping theres no stupid twist and he actually does become a full on hero, but im sure ill find out “oh its an adaptation of this comic where hes actually secretly plotting to kill everyone” or some bs
its like a crazy 180 from the original series
so theres probably something involved later
fucker didn’t give that much shit about Charles until he happened to die
Y'all X-Men 97 is REALLY GOOD
What I'm loving is that they're not afraid to push the characters into their own paths - Storm's gone right now and Bishop is back in the future gonna raise Cable
Can’t believe we got to see the birth of a new mother through an actual magical-girl transformation, this shown is truly giving the gays everything💖🌙
Also the animation keeps getting better like wtf
Oh hey there.
Walked by Gambit's VA today. He's just as shiny.
I'm ready to dive into Morph lore.
i've seen archangel and psylocke. i'm happy enough there already.
but i'm just so glad we're back to these versions of the characters
not Anna Paquin Rogue
All I know are the movies and yelled/cried when he turned into Angel. Or I guess Archangel? Time for me to catch up. To wiki!
I just know I had a crush on him in the movie he was in.
there's old school blue skin, metal wings Angel who i think is who we see in this version.
then there's Angel with the feather wings who becomes Archangel, the Horseman, with the metal wings
then he goes back to feather wings for a bit, but goes crazy?
i think right now, we like metal wing psychopath Archangel lollll but sometimes he's just Angel's murderous protective other identity xD
Thank you for the quick rundown.
as a Psylocke fan, i'm also invested in Angel's story. i have a lot of negative feelings about the Apocalypse movie xD
it's actually the reason i never watched Dark Phoenix and stopped watching the new X-Men movies entirely.
i could be wrong, but have they officially retconned Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's parentage?
MCU has kind of touched on it by showing their parents in Wandavision
and it wasn't him
in X-Men 97, yes. i still think they'll do a reveal in the MCU that the parents we saw are adoptive and he's still their father. i'm curious if they'll address it in the new show if they do bring in Scarlet Witch or if she'll stay an Easter egg or if they'll just never mention it again haha
Wow!
damn this episode went way too hard
how are we like half way through the season, im gonna need the only fans king to be rehired for season 3
i wonder if cable will try to fix it but low key i kinda want them to leave it for a while
Well this was dark and depressing af, we’ll def see more time travel now.
My memory is poop. But didn't they mention someone in the mcu this last episode?
I forget who.
||captain america|| was in a flashback episode in the original too, idk why people under that tweet are freaking out
they also are active in the 90s cartoons too
oh lol no need to worry about their presence. basically ||him and wolverine go back to WWII||
all you need to know, they worked together once
oh yeah, just meant like people seem to be worried the series might turn into an MCU cameo fest type thing and there's no need to fear that. also if one is unfamiliar with past events, you're not missing a whole bunch to be caught up (it's pretty much one filler episode in the original, you can honestly just watch it by itself), like they'll probably pop in with like a one liner explanation of the past like how nightcrawler popped in the last episode and that's enough.
also i never watched the original until this year hahah i did a whole binge watch before this show
No amount of my dear sweet Kurt is enough!
But I understand your context.
I thought they name dropped someone in this past episode. But I may have been confused.
I have no marvel knowledge prior to the cinematic universe so I try not to reference it unless in those terms.
I know I don't know jack about comics and old cartoons that weren't about gnomes or ghostbusters.
I know
Maybe? I thought the character name drop was a little foot in the door. And the watcher is in this episode.
Creepers be creeping
Sorry if I'm confusing. Text can be difficult. Moreso when I'm working on only two inches of air in my lungs (pneumonia) so my brain probably isn't great. Usually I'm better at explaining myself.
Ohhhh! Got it.
Thanks!
you should watch like the two or three episodes(?) he's in in the original! but honestly he's more likeable/normal in this new one, in the '92 one he's like one of those church group members who push religion on you hahah he really got wolverine to convert to christianity
Ooo I will find them.
Not that forced preaching is something I support!
But I love it when my adoration for a character is challenged by the writing.
i'm dead, the animated wiki for him literally puts him on team Jesus hahhah
it's so true tho hahah
I just finished Episode 5 and I am not okay
||they made him hot and then just killed him 😭 ||
now they wanna market hahah
next episode is lifedeath pt.2 tho
this seemed like a fun little ad with past episode content?
curious if they loop in xavier with the shi'ar stuff
ah that's cool, i only knew about it cause of just following twitter. i was just showing my friend the show for the first time yesterday and they were like "how are they not pushing this more" haha
they only really knew about it because their roommate works at marvel lol
i wasn't around for that (i don't think?) haha
Watching the opening titles and Lilandra appears; me: "oh I wonder if Deathbird shows up sometime this season." 20 seconds later...
they did it!
That is the opposite of me cheering at seeing Nightcrawler in the opening title.
They did me dirty. But I enjoyed this episode!
hahah i was just curious when they were gonna bring him back because at the end of the original series he wasn't really dead dead
loved the ||captain america|| slander in this episode
the future is never good pretty much. and ||the sentinels finally got a way to go back in time and they tried to take out the professor (and succeeded initially)|| is the tldr;
just watch the whole original show besides that jubliee fairytale episode 🤝
also interesting he mentions sanctuary cause we kinda already got to the UN reaction to magneto's past acts (and iirc mentions of asteroid M). otherwise, it seems he wants people to be familiar with time travel, master mold, and mr. sinister (but honestly they already gave people what they need to know about him, his origin story episode is low key kinda filler)
i hope they don't bring back Apocalypse cause they ended that man with a solid final arc (featuring a fun Kang cameo) and their attempt to try to bring him back late in the last season of the original show was weird
i'm still salty about the live action Apocalypse, so hoping they didn't bring him back either
The final trailer for ‘X-MEN ‘97’ has been released.
Now streaming on Disney+
if they didn't banish him into another dimension with no way back already in this universe i'd be down with this team tbh hahah (not that the original team did him dirty at all imo)
That episode was insane
Loved the ||Wolverine POV during Nightcrawler's bamf like I can't stop laughing at how awesome that was||
im processing it all hahha so glad i watched the original show tho, this had so many nice little callbacks to bridge them
Omega Red showing up is scary, he's OP af
it's fun to see him actually used well in this iteration of the show. the mister sinister mind controlled era of morph in the original was interesting too, but like they really just ditched him for so much of the show.
Wasn’t Morph just a throwaway character created for the show ||just so they could kill an X-Man in the first episode?||
initially as a new adaptation of another similar X-Men character from the comics, but he ended up being part of a big mister sinister arc (with that event being an important catalyst) where he plays a sizable role and is featured on and off until he rejoins the team eventually (but like near the end of the show and has severe PTSD from being brainwashed so he doesn't get to really do as much as he does with the team in '97)
the cameos this week 😭😭 i loved the bit of ||Doom|| so much
anyone that remembers the original series, can you remind me what Angel is up to right now? ||saw him in the painting|| and was reminded he's usually considered an early member.
Was a good touch, that ||ACTUAL WHOLE-ASS GENOCIDE is something that even Dr. Doom wouldn't touch||
I'm aware. I was just saying that the reason he was ditched in the original series was because of his original arc. ||They only brought back towards the season finale as a plot device for Wolverine at the end. It's not surprising that they didn't make much time for him in the end.||
he might not be a ||mutant (technically a witch? sorcerer?), but he would probably invite the refugees to Latveria. he's got the Doombots and jurisdiction to protect them there if he were so inclined.||
||They actually brought him back due to popularity (also there is more to his reappearance than just his relationship with Wolverine tbh).|| But anyways, my sentiment was about how they use his powers in an a lot more fun way this time around, that's all.
i'll get super excited though cause i'll see ||Angel or Quicksilver, but then they change to Morph and i'm like oh noooooo my boys||
on ||Genosha, they kept having other winged mutants and i so badly wanted one to be an Angel cameo||
These episodes are insane
only fans king for president of marvel
Marvel Unlimited has prequel comics to the show
ALREADY SO MANY CAMEOS BUT PARTICULARLY ||Cloak and Dagger||
Yeah so this gonna be ||Gambit becoming the Horsemen of Death||
Also where the fuck in time is Morph and Wolverine lol
Bastion was gonna kill everyone by throwing Asteroid M into Earth
Rough stuff
Oh he was still gonna kill everyone. But his try was with the new sentinels and he was gonna kill like literally everyone. Omega Red, the Avengers, Cloak and Dagger, Daredevil lmao.
Then Phoenix came back and then Bastion said "fuck it there's a big asteroid I can throw instead"
i guess they brought back apocalypse.. whatever they did in the past must've undid/changed the future cause bro got sent to the shadow realm and his temples got destroyed in the original series
This might be the biggest surprise hit in MCU history
Like i wrote this off as absolute garbage
But damn
Peak
I love me some ||Cloak and Dagger. Cloak and Dagger|| and Sleepwalker are my favorite deep cut Marvel titles. I own the entire original print runs of both.
i thought he already returned from the astral plane by taking over the body of one of his minions? Fabian Cortez?
maybe the X-men are also causing their own downfall by ||saving the younger En Sabah Nur||
Beau DeMayo teased what was going to happen ||by sending out the title card of a Star Trek episode about a Time Loop. ||
i did see that. the episode where they ||have to find a way out of the time loop|||. at the very least, we know Genosha ||is an absolute point though.|| i'm interested to see how that ties into ||time loops||. i feel like i need to watch Loki season 2 and What If again xD
I thought for sure the season finale would be ||Bishop/Cable doing some time jumping shit to undo everything that happened since the Genosha episode. I'm kind of proud of them for committing to sticking to the dark present timeline, for now.||
i thought i saw something about the writers saying bringing back ||Gambit|| would make it less meaningful or something?
for some reason i remember that failing, but i just rewatched the end of that episode and yeah he decides to just go with the dude that tried to bring a vessel once the original plan fails. that episode wasn't that great and i kinda hate how they just undid the whole finale with him for absolutely nothing extremely easily but i guess now we get what comes from that.
Was kinda hoping they’d set up for Onslaught onstage of Apocalypse again. That storyarch was insane in the comics.
Great job making magic @shy sonnet!
Mickey is promoting you to level 19 !
not impossible. Apocalypse needs to happen to Charles for Onslaught to decide mutants also needs to go.
