I don't think we needed this opening sequence to go on for so long, I litterally fell asleep and now back to watching and the fact that it's 20 mins in and ||Aang is just getting into the iceberg|| is a bit much

So I didn't like how ||they made it seem like Aang was lost to the ocean spirit at the end rather than him using the Avatar state to avenge the moon spirit. That also makes it seem like Yue isn't giving herself up for her people as much as she is saving Aang and I don't like that either. Overall its a fundamental change to the spirit world and Avatar state stuff that doesn't quite work I feel like. Like him only being able to talk to the Avatars at their shrines is weird.||

||I didn't really get that feeling from it. To me it just seemed like a way of adding more context so that the ocean spirit scene wasn't over in 3 minutes like the original. Yue made it a big point that the water tribe would be done without both spirits.||

||And iirc he had to go to Roku's temple to talk to him originally (at first, at least). Kuruk showed up in the middle of the fight at the end too anyway||

I also don't love ||the spirits only being there for one night a year, idk it feels weird I like this idea that the ocean and moon took physical form in the world and so their spirits needed too as well from the original||

I actually really like Azula being in this, it gives her more motivation for S2, but I'm still of opinion this is mostly a skip of a show.

Honestly, the fire nation storylines (all of them honestly) are better than Team Avatar's storylines in this season

Its so weird like sure Sokka isn't sexist anymore, but now he's a ladies man? (Suki, Yue, some random fire nation person). Katara isn't as mature at his expense, which kinda makes it more sexist when you think about it (you need one of them to be naive for stories to work), just so many random issues.

Wow the writers must’ve really hated the love story at the end with how they ruined it. ||Her being engaged and having no choice because of tradition is what made it so tragic. They already established how the culture is holding onto outdated tradition by not letting women fight yet suddenly changed this story plot completely here?? It’s bad, inconsistent writing and also at the end when she sacrificed herself she gave him the last kiss as a spirit and not just give it beforehand and then disappear. It was just bafflingly bad for literally no reason. Thats why this didn’t have nearly the emotional impact as it could have.||

As a first season it shouldn’t have the part with the sister and her friends either because there needed to be more time and focus on the leads. You can introduce more characters later once that is done. You don’t do it all at the same time like they did it here. All around it wasn’t a bad season by any means, but could’ve been so much better.

At least the music was consistently phenomenal.

I did like the scene ||where she shows her electric powers|| That looked pretty bad ass.

Also the composer of the show did The Last Guardian Game Soundtrack. No wonder the orchestral arrangement is so beautiful.
