They definitely weren't as big as Captain Marvel, I don't think. That's true. And I don't have the numbers, but I imagine Ms Marvel did better than both of them, at least at her debut. Her #1 went to so many reprintings I think they ran out of colors for the banner at the bottom.
My cynical take on it though is that these three ladies are going to be the thumbnail for the decline of superhero movies as a genre. And especially considering that both major publishers are studio owned now, I think that's going to impact the comics in the long term.

So the team actually called the Young Avengers was Kate (Hawkeye, they're just both Hawkeye), Cassie (Stature), the two Maximoff Boys (Wiccan and uh, Speed?), Isaiah Bradley's kid from Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and I think two other people that haven't been introduced yet. So it does seem like they're working on that.
But the team Kamala led, the Champions, has some other people. One of them, Amadeus Cho, hasn't showed up yet, but his mom was in Age of Ultron
