#Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

ok
Should a character be still getting designed 5 months before release? Probably not but it's not as extreme of a situation depending on other factors.
I'm big on if you're going to crunch, management needs to be in it with you and there must be a carrot.
100% on this. Crunch must be rewarded. I don't think it ever goes away, but there needs to be a system in place to lessen the blow.
Yep. For me I’m willing to work late / over when it feels worth it and necessary. I won’t do it all the time and I don’t want it to be a precedent.
But like my best creative products have often been the most collaborative and us tweaking things until the last moment.
I did a campaign and I spent two weeks basically coming up with nothing, brain block, and then the strongest idea by far presented at the last minute. It is what it is. But that was my choice and not an indecisive boss abusing me.
Some of our biggest ideas and wins came from meetings at 3AM after workshopping something for weeks prior. Creativity is a fickle thing unforutnately.
its also very sad to work on something for a long period of time like 6-9 months and then it gets completely cut
And when the high is seeing your work on a massive screen that is playing around the globe, you really don't have many avenues to pursue that.
You rarely hear someone say "I regret spending more time with my family and less time working on this one shot"
Also, Sony doesn't care much about their employees so in this case. The employees voted twice against joining the union because they liked their benefits more and didn't want to create ill will between themselves and upper management. What did upper management end up doing? Eroded their benefits and eventually relocated them to Vancouver.
I am 💀
It’s the Indian soap opera cuts
Indian serials where they have a shit ton of transitions
The audio is directly from one that went viral on YouTube
think of like... an anime character except the transitions are worst and it's a character not even relevant to the plot
Well that was pretty interesting
hated the cliff-hanger there
So why does Morales' dad have to die? Didnt he lose his own Uncle prowler
That's a main unanswered question especially since Miles wasn't supposed to be a spider-man
did he not love uncle prowler
and thats gonna be the twist at the end of the next one
although im mad they're forcing this to be a trilogy
well, not mad. its an eye feast.
soooo are they going to release all of them on one dvd because if so i'm insta buying it
Actually no, i'm buying regardless
I'm still calling out Captain Singh being saved and causing a break in the canon event as a plothole given that specific incident was caused by Spot jumping into their universe and messing with the collider, not necessarily the point where and when he was supposed to die.
timelines are a tricky thing
fuck around in 1 universe enough and you get an incursion
counterpoint - spot was supposed to happen. and cause the death of singh
so still a canon event
But they were calling and treating it like Miles breaking a canon event by saving Captain Singh, not an incursion like from MoM
If spot was supposed to happen, that means spider 42 was supposed to get transported to Miles' universe and there for he was meant to be a spider-man but that's not how they are framing it.
well, thats just Vampire spiderman being incorrect
he assumes that Miles is the reason for the incursion.
Either the filmmakers got sloppy or they are intentionally framing it wrong.
this happens every fucking time anyone messes with Time in any movie
I think its intentional misdirect
Yes it does Jiga
the writers just don't know how to handle time. and I agree with Neko
We'll find out next year or whenever they finish the movie provided the artists don't revolt from being overworked.
Also, what caused 2099 spiderman's world to obliterate everyone?
he didnt belong there so everyone else glitched?
oh he went to a timeline where he died
and took his place
He jumped to another universe where he had a daughter and then that universe suffered an incursion
Just like all time travel plots we're just going to go in circles here.
oh Oscar Isaac is 2099 lol
ya
It's all the same in the multiverse
yup. when Endgame went there I was just like, yeah tahts cool but I'm out
i overanalyze any movie that deals with time travel and find paradoxes everywhere
so were all the spidermen mentioned actually comic book variations?
or were they mostly made up for these movies
uh Spectacular Spiderman was a show and he was on there
Insomniac was there too
this is fascinating. I had no idea
Jiga the someone close to him uncle Ben is the prowler
The next person is a captain who’s near to spidey
Miles dad just became captain
That was so hard to read
whats your point
What
if Prowler was his Uncle Ben, then why does his dad have to die
Also future spidey is not a reliable narrator
wait so you're saying every father figure for each spider person has to die?
im still not following
oh it has to be Captain
So in comics after Uncle Ben dies Captain Stacy dies. Miles father is that.
dont jiga pls me
So Tobey Maguires dad was a captain?
or he just died
what about Andrew Garfunkle
Idk I’m not saying future spiderman is correct
But that still goes against the idea that Miles isn't supposed to be spider-man. The rules should not apply to him even if he is a spider-person if he wasn't supposed to be one.
I’m just saying the premise of why he wants miles to not do anything
Future spiderman is wrong
That’s what we find out
I mean the thing is fairly sure canon events are just BS that Miguel is using to his something.
yes has to be
doesn't make any sense
like Bigfoot pointed out
Miles wasn't supposed to be a spiderman
or hes just wrong
is Spot villain original?
To my knowledge yea
Oh wow new info to me tbh.
And here I was thinking we got a new villain in spidey rogue gallery
Nope lol
i thought he was Rorscahch at first
and i was like, wow they REALLY going all out on this multiverse thing
Spot is a great villain
I don’t necessarily think Miguel has ulterior motives
I think he’s just wrong
Also Prowler Miles should have no powers at all right? that's gonna be fun to see
All tech yeah
I’m torn. I think he knows he’s wrong.
i think he meant well, just misunderstands
I don’t really see the point of tricking miles
no i get that but they keep bringing him up in this trilogy so
was just wondering if he was like the Green Goblin to Miles
prowler always felt like just a spin on the classic uncle ben story
Peter has the good uncle who dies a martyr, Miles has the evil uncle he has to fight
One is the uncle dying and one is the police captain dying
I scrolled down and saw it was answered
Today I learned the first version of the Prowler was actually Hobie Brown
Well if they want to deviate from the comics, they could make Miguel one of those vampires. they already sort of set it up with his fangs, which could obv just be him being part literal spider, but still
Sorry if that was already mentioned I just hopped in lol
Miguel is just a Morbius variant
It’s the M name, they’ve been planning it all along
Also the holes jokes in the first half of the movie are super under appreciated
Finally, a marvel movie in 2023 with good hole jokes
Man I dread to even think about what hole jokes other marvel movies could make
I think the majority of Spider-Persons have resigned themselves to thinking they have to constantly lose (again, that good good meta commentary on the comics and live action movies). Gwen was heading in that direction too, especially because Miguel probably showed her the pile of dead Gwen Staceys who fell in love with Spider-Man. But Gwen and Peter B meeting Miles has shaken their belief in that inevitability.
What's wild to me is that even though Miguel said at the beginning to not disrupt the Cannon event they still helped Gwen stopped it. I feel like Miguel is also kind of punishing Miles because he knows Miles isn't a normal Spiderman like the rest of them by making sure he also has to suffer the same events
Miguel isn't a normal spiderman either, and I think he's pushing Miles into it to make sure he stays a spiderman
Ohhhhh
Miguel stole another spidermans life, and he's seeing Miles do the same (in his eyes) . He thinks he's helping
Basically one guy made a mistake and now he wants to nanny state every hero in the multiverse to keep someone from repeating it.
Miguel wasn’t supposed to be Spider-Man also?
Jiga nobody knows what’s going on
Miguel thinks he knows
Miles thinks he knows
Nobody really knows
Miguel's version of events:
- He becomes Spider-Man
- He loses his family (a "canon event")
- He goes to a universe where Miguel O'Hara died but his family lived, and tries to essentially replace that missing Spider-Man.
- This second dimension gets destroyed because Miguel altered its canon*
- Miguel creates a cabal of predestination-focused Spider-Persons bent on making sure no Spider-Man ever breaks canon (and therefore destroys any more universes).
I put an asterisk on that fourth one because that's the biggest assumption Miguel is working off of right now. That it was his fault that world got destroyed and not some external factor.
Miguel is "not a normal Spider-Man" in the sense that he was, for a time, the Spider-Man of a different universe than the one where he got bit by the spider. Conversely, Miles is "not normal" because the spider that bit him was from another universe - it was "intended" for another person, on Earth 42.
That’s a good breakdown
My question (which has probably been mentioned) is why Miguel’s dimension glitched out of existence while a massive black hole formed in mumbattan. It’s weird because the spider scientists were treating it like a canon breaking catastrophe, but it took a completely different form
Does he replace the universe’s Spider-Man? Or just that universe’s Miguel? My understanding is there was still a Peter Parker in that universe.
Yeah I think he saw that universes Miguel die and replaced his body before anyone noticed
YEP! That was in a tik tok I saw and I was like “Oh thats a great point”, and I’m personally thinking Miguel knows this and is hidings something.
Yea it seems more like a giant portal made by spot than a canon event
The effect they used for Miguel’s dimension was like an incursion if I’m remembering right. So he likely caused that and didn’t have the tech at the time to safely move through the multiverse otherwise. Maybe that’s the tech they figured out at the end of Spiderverse 1
I'm also saw spider woman didn't stop Gwen from teleporting
But I feel like she'll trust Gwen again someday in the 3rd film maybe
Jess is definitely going to turn on Miguel by the end of the third movie.
I think everyone turns on Miguel tbh
But Miguel is gonna have something up his sleeve to neutralize Spider-People
Is that shown in the movie?
I thought so, I’ve only seen it once.
I remember a scene that implies that Peter B was there trying to save people when Miguel's dimensions collapsed (I think it shows him running down the street alongside Miguel) but didn't recall anything about Spider-Man or Peter in that universe.
I don't think Miguel stays the bad guy all the way through. I think once Miles saves his dad and it doesn't collapse the universe (or it turns out there's something else in play) he'll side with the heroes again
I don't think they'd make a Spider-Man the bad guy in these movies. Could be wrong
Maybe, idk which I want. They set up Miguel as the bad guy and I want them to stay with it I think.
I think Prowler Miles turns good.
I think miles is gonna do the watch the hands not the mouth thing to prowler miles
Oh 100%
Watch we get more spiderman enemies again
We got Renaissance vulture
My guess is we get that on Earth-42 as part of act 1.
Oh no, the bracelets
I've got a theory: the third movie isn't going to start with the Comic Code Authority seal, or it's going to get busted up, since Miles and company are breaking bad against the status quo.
"Let's do this one last time. My name is Miles Morales, and I'm Prowler"
Off topic, but has anyone been getting competing ads for insect repellant on YouTube recently?
nah the one last time monologues are for spider people. that's why miguel didn't get one in the same style as everyone else
Your life doesn't really become comic booky until the bite.
Or the third movie they may start something. Or have a clean table to throw a comic on
All the Not Spiders
Think this is why Prowler Miles will get something similar but not quite just like how Miguel kinda had one. We're gonna find out what happened exactly to his dad, I wanna say something from the first movie is how his dad was killed
Maybe more like a 90s comic. Different art style
https://vxtwitter.com/thepizzaisreel/status/1672610428856172546?s=46 WAS THIS NOT IN EVERY VERSION OF THE MOVIE
The fact some people didn't get to see this beautiful scene is tragic
【QRT of starbrite starlight (@MOLENAIDE):】
'Apparently Miles rides a spider horse? I’m one version of the movie?'

Nah you can hear the boo right before it cuts
I'm pretty sure I got that scene right after he had the dual with western spidey and went early because counting to 3 is stupid
Weekend plans: ✅ See Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse again on the biggest screen possible in Premium Formats and IMAX. Get tickets now: https://t.co/JN8ktusVUB

it only got a single XD screen back near me
flash was supposed to have imax exclusivity across the whole country that shit is bombing HARD
This weekend as in today and tomorrow? Cause if so, it's not showing on any of the premium formats at either AMC I normally go to.
For the coming week
If it’s not in premium formats near you then they didn’t switch it
The amc here gave most of the Dolby shows to elemental and flash is keeping imax
It looks like most of the AMCs don't have their schedules fully up past Wednesday. One does list it in IMAX for Thursday though
That’s probably gonna be the only imax showing it gets then
Because Indy will take it that afternoon
Oh that's right. I even have an IMAX indy showing that night
did anyone else get this version of atsv in theaters?? i feel like no one is talking abt it

Beyond the Spiderverse about to be the Half-life 3 of movies.
https://movieweb.com/spider-man-beyond-the-spider-verse-release-date-delay-sony-marvel/
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a year delay
Would be exceedingly surprised if the movie never came out
Avatar 3 or spiderverse 3. Which comes first
Given what people have said about the working conditions of Across, I hope there is a delay instead of overworking everyone again
What’s avatar 3s current release date?
December 2025
Was Dec '24, and it probably needed a delay but they probably did the full year to get the Dec release day
But it was filmed with A2, just gonna be in post for a few years
I think Spiderverse beats it
My guess is Spider-Verse 3 either comes out this time frame 2025 or December 2024, Avatar 3 is gonna hopefully make its Dec 2025 timeframe but I ain’t holding my breath on it
I don’t see how avatar 3 misses it if they are done filming tbh
I think the fact that they pushed back means they might have to do pick up shots filming
Probably realized as they were filming 4 that there was something they didn’t cover that needs to be in 3 or something like that
I guess it depends on if they have any kind of script or not
For Beyond
I’m fairly sure they got a script of some sort
Y’ALL
Don’t final a shot and have the animation redone 5 times though
Lotta words to say its not coming out in 2024
I like the idea that he's a vigilante instead of just another villain in an already messed up world. Makes more sense too
Agreed, makes a lot more sense. My guess is he still leans more anti-hero than traditional spider-man
@worn ruin mid

The best part about the movie besides Spider-Man India is that JK Simmons is JJJ in every universe
If I had a nickel for every movie where a bagel potentially collapses the multiverse I’d have 2 bagels
What’s the bagel to nickel exchange rate
At least 2 more hours of sleep

Smh people don’t follow the lore
No I just like giving him a hard time
did some decorating in my apartment and i guess i gotta get some more shit and make this a full on spiderverse corner now
Don’t forget the trans flag
Protect trans kids!
If you don't clean that corner for a while you might get some spiderwebs for extra immersion
It gud movie
Art of book just came out and it's already out of stock at Amazon
I love this movie
Almost
I need beyond then I can fully love
I almost became USC when it ended
#AnimeExpo2023 Day 1 looked kinda like Mumbattan 😆

@worn ruin
love that i've seen multiple artists do this
its a good bit
its also fun because i get to block people who are very butthurt about gwen being trans

It's a good Trans joke
I love how people have decided Pavitr doesn't have a thought in that pretty little head
UGH THIS IS SO GOOD I LOVE HIS HAIR SO MUCH
@wheat tapir

I’m rockin with this I might have to get it
TLDR spider math of what % of Spider people are Peter Parker’s
Not really spoilers for this film but enough about it to go here imo
Still thinking about this movie
I watched "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." Like the previous film, the visual presentation and the multiverse depiction of Spider-Man's loneliness and destiny were excellent. Animation, MANGA, American comics, CG, games, live-action films, stop-motion, LEGO, street art,…

YEAAAAAAH
Kojima W
He didn’t comment on the writing though
Bro he called it the future of entertainment what more do you need
Wife liked the first one better. I’m trying to decide if I agree
I think the cliffhanger does take a lotta oomph out
Stylistically this one clears though
Visually yeah
When you get all your closing tasks done way earlier than anticipated so you sneak to the back

They don’t need to know im getting paid to watch spider man
damn i didn't realize it was still in theaters
trying to force a parent-child dynamic between peter b and gwen is crazy for like 20 different reasons but most importantly you guys need to have the experience of being 17 and having a coworker whos 40 and theyre your best friend
