We already have the ability to ride them, why not something like a golden saddle, thats as difficult to get as the golden skull necklaces for balancing purposes? Plus, lets face it, we were all heartbroken when our first animal died... we can already make our followers immortal, so our favorite animals should have the chance too!

Not one of the devs, and it'd be a lot of fun for sure, 🤔 but I'm kind of wondering how that would work with the wolf attacks?
Would the saddle/necklace/collar protect them from the wolves as well, if you don't reach the farm in time to protect the animals? Or just from old age? Because your followers don't get attacked by the wolves (or anything else) while within the camp, but the wolves try to kill the animals - I'm not sure how the coding would work for it? 🤔
Because wolves attack animals not age them
Yeah, but if you want the animals to be immortal you'd also need something in the coding which protects them from the wolf attacks even if you don't make it there in time.
And I'm not sure how that would work both for the story and the coding.
Immortal for followers at least doesn't work for hunger
Well, its a good trade off. There really isn't any consequences to having multiple immortal followers late game. Having immortal animals that need to be protected could potentially be more fun as well.
It also works for balancing, since wool is used to empower the legendary weapons too
What if putting the accessory on the animal then gave you the ability to resurrect it via ritual, the same way you resurrect followers?
So it will not die of old age, and if it is killed you can spend resources and faith to bring it back
But it's a limited/rare item that it must be wearing or else it can't be resurrected
Rare enough to need to use god tears kind of accessory
Yes! Absolutely
Such an item could come at a cost for balancing, such as less wool harvested from that specific animal
Because multiple high level immortal animals could break the wool economy fast
That seems fair
I hope they at least look at this
Oh no, INFLATION!!!
