After I defeated Marchosias for the first time, I got the lost souls that I needed to transfer back to Yngya's statue but every time I do, I completely lose the ability to save even when I leave the room and go back to my cult.
In this clip, you can see me spam-pausing before walking up to the mountain and after walking up onto the mountain but the moment I give her the souls, my pause button no longer works

The way you can fix it though is to just go to a random area through the pentagram

That does sound rough- I've just avoided giving the souls back and I've instead been using this time to complete the quests I've been procrastinating on
