Version 1.4.6 of Cult of The Lamb on the nintendo switch lite (Version 19.0.1 for the switch lite, no idea if this information is pertinent or not)

There seems to be a odd thing happening in my new save file on the first slot, i started it two days ago, i’ve killed the third bishop and yet to kill shamura

As soon as i started the save file it seemed to already have the force weapon on, defaulted to crusader’s blade, no arrow to indicate being able to switch weapons as well as being unable to select any other at all

For context, my previous save file on that exact save lot (the first slot) had forced weapon on and I decided to restart fresh because of differeng bug on that save file

On the select save file screen, the playtime on that previous save file indicated 0 days/hours/seconds despite me having several days on it, i just hadn’t touched it in weeks or months)

I believe my prefered settings might have had transfered over and somehow bugged the fresh one

I can still disable the force weapon, uncertain if it’s a bug or a feature that I have to get the other weapons first before enabling force weapon

And that still does not explain why my force weapon setting carried over to the new one

I also have a second save file that I do have access to all forced weapons, which was made during the release of that accessibility, it is not bugged

I have to admit that I did not exactly recall if I did enable the force weapon as soon as I started the new save file but I did have a extra blank save file so I decided to test it

I just finished killing the first bishop and it seems to be automatically turned on after defeating leshy and also stuck on the crusader’s blade, no option to choose anything else

The force weapon only activates after defeating the first bishop, no idea if that was a intended feature

Do note that I also did not use quick start on any of those three files which are

  1. Previous save file that got the playtime bug
  2. Second save file which isn’t bugged
  3. The newest save file that also has the same bug as 1

Steps to recreate this bug:

  1. Have a already existing save file that also has force weapon activated (does not seem to matter which weapon it is since it defaults to the crusader’s blade in future save files)
  2. Create a new save file (does not matter if deleted a old one or used a already empty one)
  3. Beat Leshy and unlock at least the first weapon state after getting your first permanent half heart upgrade

Results:

You will have forced weapon already turned on by default and by stuck on crusader’s blade

Possible way to fix it yourself (untested by myself):

Method 1. Disable force weapon and crusade until new weapons spawn
Method 2. Turn off force weapon and start a new save file, continue playing until you unlock force weapon and see if it’s still activated and/or if it’s still stuck on crusader’s blade

Correction on the amount of save files, i had a total of 4 if you count the one i deleted which had the playtime bug

In chronological order there is:

  1. Previous save file that got a playtime bug (deleted since 2 days ago
  2. Save file that does not have force weapon bug
  3. Save that i started 2 days ago that had the force weapon bug
  4. Save file that has been started a couple of hours ago for the purpose of recreating this bug
#

Will be testing the method 1 to see if the possible way of fixing it myself does work

#

Method 1 is indeed succesful in allowing me access to a new weapon after disabling it

I talked to a friend who has cotl on a different system that isn’t the switch, apparently this isn’t a thing they experience, it’s turned on immediately on a new save file and lets them pick whatever weapon they want at the beginning of the game, no need to disable it and try to unlock the weapons first

Tested out further and using quick start does not seem to bug out the force weapon accessibility, i don’t remember if i disabled it before using quick start so it works or if i already had it enabled so give me some time to further test this out and confirm if it’s also bugged or not on quick start

Will be testing the following:

  1. Start new save file through quick start with force weapon already enabled on another save file
  2. Start new save file through quick start with force weapon disabled

Why I will be testing these two out

To see if quick start bugs on specific conditions or if quick start is excluded of the force weapon bug (if it is one) from starting a new save file from the default start up

Force weapon is on, new save file made through quick start and I can confirm that it does NOT have the force weapon bug from the default startup option

Turning force weapon off, new save file made with quick start up and I can confirm it also does NOT have the force weapon bug from the default startup option

Method 2 seems to be also suffering from the same bug so far, force weapon is not immediately unlocked as soon as you get to your camp, i assume it will also be unlocked after defeating leshy

#

Will brute force my way to defeat leshy asap and i’ll let you know if it is still the same bug

Method 2 has some interesting results, it also suffers the same bug but in a different manner

First off, other weapons are able to show up naturally when entering dungeons, meaning you can unlock them faster and before beating leshy

Second, starting a new save file with no quick start and force weapon enabled before starting the save file seems to result in only the sword spawning, meaning you cannot get any other weapon until defeating leshy which makes the option appear

Third, method 2 has force weapon show up before beating leshy, which means that it enables you to select weapons which you have already encountered and unlocked but will not automatically unlock the other weapons if you haven’t encountered them beforehand

#

Seems that having force weapon disabled before starting a new save file (with no quick start) allows you to unlock force weapon as soon as you encounter another weapon in a dungeon

#

I hope that the devs can remedy this and enable all weapons access if we already have force weapon turned on without quick start cause i don’t tend to use quick start as much
