They're silly in the head, just there for the fun
They were unfortunately abused to the point of being absolutely insensible to violence and death, which is funnily fitting
When you think about it it makes them being a cult leader 10 times more fucked up, mainly when you seek in their psychology
Because at one point they could be just watering flowers and chatting with one of their followers, and the next they tear away someone's eyes out their skull and are turned into a violent killing machine, all that just because they want to.
