^^hands are honestly a game of making it look convincing, not necessarily realistic. i actually find hands rlly rlly fun bc of this

^^also note that tako has a few certain ways they group the fingers together. thats also a pretty key thing to pay attention to.
^^they seem to have a tendency to group middle and ring-pinky(??) together and pointer juts just a little away from them. groups of two work really well for when you draw characters with four fingers like they do

^^personally, as someone who draws all 5 fingers, i like to do ring-middle or ring-pinky groupings, with the odd middle-ring-pinky or pointer-middle here and there.
^^regardless, grouping up two fingers is generally easier than grouping threes imo. its a slightly easier shape i think, and the third finger risks getting lost if they're not defined well (i dont mean detail here. i mean like how tako separates the fingers or how the pointer finger has a slight bump to help separate it from the other two fingers)

^^also damn maybe i should get some ball jointed doll hands. seems like an extremely good reference.
