#Black Screen after speaking with the "Wise One"

did they ever give you an answer because im having this problem as well
Still waiting on an answer, I also sent a bug report in game as well in the start menu before the beheading.
Wise one???? The one who waits?? Try creating a new save and test it again to see if it’s just random or if it happens again. If it does happen again then I can’t help lmao
A save isn't even made. I get a blackscreen while receiving the crown before a save is even made. I try once or twice a week to see if it would work after check file integidy and restarting the computer and still locks it the same spot. If need be I can screen share the issue.
I have been having this issue for over a year, right now there really isnt a fix. The devs keep telling us that they are working on it but they don't keep us up to date on any further updates...
Its getting kinda anoying, people not being able to play their game is a HUGE problem and fixing it should be a priority...
Just tried it again today, with a new save and still getting a black screen.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling
Just tried and still having the same issue.
It's a long-running issue; in fairness there have been some patches issued to try and solve it, they just didn't work for everyone. And also in fairness it doesn't seem to be consistent who's affected -- I'm on Steam Deck and there are plenty of people who aren't affected who have the same hardware and OS as me, so I have no idea what the difference is.
I'll take another opportunity to advocate that for affected users, it seems from research that the community has done that being able to turn off video cutscenes entirely via settings would get rid of this issue. I understand that's probably not an ideal fix, but it stinks not being able to play the game at all, and it is possible for affected players to look up the cutscenes on Youtube.
There are ways to skip cutscenes, but from the testing I've done they don't seem to become available until the cutscene starts playing, at which point it's too late and the game is softlocked. Ideally there would be -- even if it was a completely hidden option and required like a special keycombo or something -- some way of getting the game to not do the cutscenes at all; to not even try to load the video files that seem to be breaking the game for affected users.
I believe there used to be a community DLL patch that did exactly that and fixed the issue for a lot of people, but DLL patches will break every time the game is updated.
Ok, found what works:
- Right-click on your Desktop and click on Nvidia Control Panel
- Now click on “Adjust image settings with preview” from the left bar
- And make sure that “Use the advanced 3D image settings” is selected
- Now click on “Manage 3D settings” from the left bar
- Scroll down until you find the setting “Vertical Sync”
- You need to turn it off and save the changes
This worked for me thanks for the help.
