I think it’s some microbats that people are scared of, since they foolishly think those floofs are ugly (they are objectively incorrect)
Also, people keep thinking that bats are rodents for some stupid reason, and a lot of people are scared of rodents (for some reason)
But honestly? Unless they’re worried about disease, which is mostly reasonable, and aren’t using disease as an excuse for irrational fear, being scared of bats makes no real sense.

It isn’t possible to mark the specific suggestions in their list that are most liked, which is a bit of a problem.
Which is probably the reason that her suggestions don’t have more likes.
And posting on there would just clutter it up — it’s already dizzying to read, even though there are a ton of really good ideas in there. Anything I would say there myself would make it harder to read, but without actually adding value to what is there. So, for me at least, anything I would say over there would be detrimental in the end.
But yep, her suggestion post is objectively better than mine is, it has way more ideas and effort, there is a massive amount of good stuff there.

I made up a bat god, Salvanis the God of Slumber. He’s a dream vampire. Giving followers peaceful sleep, and feeding on their succulent good dreams. But he doesn’t just have power over his followers, any who sleep are. He’s responsible for when you awaken, and can’t remember your dream. Displease him and you will be deprived of sleep, cross him and he’ll give you nightmares, infuriate him and he will curse you with an eternal sleep of unending nightmares!

I imagine upon defeating him, he too can be recruited into the cult.

Ironically what also fits the spooky season isn’t just Salvanis himself. My other god, Morossa. Their domain is called the Evergraves. As the name suggests, an on-going land of graves, where spirits roam serving them even in death. The Evergraves are fertile and have an abundance of pumpkins, from freakishly large to amazingly small. It’s customary there, to carve a pumpkin as a home for the spirits. Morossa can also control the bones of their willing followers. Ghosts, skeletons, graves, and Jack-o-lanterns. The Evergraves are Halloween central!

I tried doing the wings wrapped around too. But I couldn’t get it to work personally. So I just have Salvanis have his wings folded behind him, giving him a vampiric outfit. He looks so dapper in it❤️🖤🦇!

There are some supposed bat followers ingame (silk cradle), but they are not anything like actual bats. More like winged fluffballs, which are admittedly cute but not at all batlike.
