Story Time!
The first time I ever tried to make pancakes by myself was a half-disaster. I made batter enough for three large pancakes because I was really hungry.
The first pancake had the alchemy symbol for "gold" burned onto one side. So okay, I left that on one side for too long, take care to flip it sooner next time.
The second pancake, I flipped it too early, and batter went flying everywhere. It also stuck to the pan after having flipped it, so I had burnt chunks in it.
As I was cooking the third pancake, I smelled smoke, then I realized that some of the batter that went splattering around on the second pancake got on the gas stove and lit on fire--I panicked immediately, and removed the pan from the heat, splashed a little water, put it out. Then when I went to flip the third pancake... Boom! Burnt on one side.
I decided that I had done my best--I ate the three of them, got a tummyache, and went back to bed.

I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing happened to Doddles, especially not after him being verbally abused by Heket before being exiled forever and doomed to spend his days in the torment of perpetual hunger.
On that note, I always thought gluttony was a bit of a "childish" sort of sin, because it usually reminds me of when young children want candy and junk food so much and they can't reason to themselves that it's bad for them, and they always want more
So, I did incorporate some of that into Doddles's character, too.
