At 8, he ran away, now living on the streets and fighting for scraps. Through the years, he learned to pickpocket, to lie and fight his way through life.
He attracted 3 other guys to be in his little thieves gang, and they became infamous for breaking into rich Anchordeepians homes and robbing them for everything they had, forr a time they were the most feared gang in Anchordeep.
Eventually, they planned to pull of their biggest heist; Midas's Cave
Spoilers: it went to shit. Two of the three guys was turned to gold. Midas gave Grim an ultimatem, either he gets turned as well, or he signs a contract to be Midas's servant forever.
Grim signed. He was forced to bring the final guy back, who was promptly turned into a statue, this ending his reign as king of the thieves.
For two centuries he served under Midas. Eventually, you forget why you started figjting, the names of comrades you knew so clearly fade away, and all bitterness and resentment fades in way of just being tired. Two centuries of living together, it becomes hard to keep secrets. You know everything about each other.
