I've never seen a speedrun before, funny enough

I'll need to look into it sometime to see how it's done, considering doing one myself after some practice

The major glitches were never really useful to 100%.
Follower dupe and teleport glitch were used to open all doors and unlock a fleece with a low follower count. 100% never wanted to lose the followers that early cause we need the devotion.

Talisman dupe was never useful either. Its use would have been skipping one of the other talisman pieces. You want to sacrifice ratau so you get his card without playing him in knucklebones. You have to beat the witness for the follower form. That leaves catching the 4th fish or build Sozo’s sculpture.

Now that i think about it. Talisman dupe would be useful in neo100 since the extra piece would save a god tear and potentially cut a purgatory run.

And yeah the tarot cards don’t give a good enough bonus consistently to actually save time. Plus you have the animation of getting the cards that adds time.

Its actually been the one that’s considered the most after golden fleece. Golden is pretty clearly the best out of the others so its just could 4 tarot cards beat golden? I’d say no very few tarot cards actually help get through rooms quicker

You play it by timing. You can only do the fox at night so if you have just a little bit of time sozo, fox, fox, fish works. But if you need to kill time before night fish, fox, fox, sozo. You can also give the wood to the lighthouse to help kill some time.

It is a post TOWW mechanic. I'd suggest playing the post game before attempting a neo-100% run, because the post game is included in that run. You cannot for example unlock all relics

I haven’t messed much with the quick start but you should either start with follower level in quick start or Ratau unlocks it after DW3

I really wouldn’t worry about doing a neo100% right now. Explore the content in the game and mess around with all sorts of stuff.

This game honestly makes me nostalgic for SSB melee with how many things there are to unlock and how they unlock. Catching fireflies at knight, killing critters during crusades, harvesting follower meat, attacking an npc and interacting with a decoration. So many different things to do.

I think you do still get god tears after 6 purgatory runs with one fleece. But you actually want to spread out with as many as possible to keep the runs themselves short. The single tear from the end is better than any amount of fragments collected.

During DW4 you'll meet the fisherman, after beating Leshy you can go down and fish, first of each of the four rare fish you catch (lobster, crab, octopus, squid) will reward a talisman piece

If you time it right and get there during a night phase you can talk to the wolf and give him one of any common fish for a talisman piece too, means only 3 rare fish have to be caught then

Well, prior to like 2.0 builds, we are able to tp to any map locations when map is opened. Gets you an easy golden fleece

We use animation canceling to chain like 3rd hits of the gauntlet.

But it is mostly just minor animation skips like rolling left on the tutorial to skip getting the follower fight.

But it is mostly just routing

There are two hurdles to overcome for shit%. The first is the 15 poops needed for 5 bowls, the minimum to have a chance at getting to form. The second is just getting the recipe you have to get it from a follow quest so until that point you can’t make any poop bowls.

I've done a few Marriage% runs, mostly as a way to practice combat while having an actual goal to focus on, but I'd like to do some NMG runs by adding in one new skip at a time to practice. Any suggestions on which skips are the easiest/most consistent that I should add first?

Depends which version are you running. Then map skip or cut scene movement are two of the easiest. (Cutscene) just be far enough from cutscene standing place

I believe this will also be influenced by rng, due to the chance of berry bowls and not cleaning giving your followers diarrhea for extra poop, and i believe you get the recipe for poop bowl fairly early, due to you being able to make recipes when you have gotten one of each thing (not in your inventory neccesarily, but harvested it yourself, or picked it up yourself)

(so its probably around 6h45/7hs) - unhappy that its not submittable but happy with the time and I hope its an insp for people still

TAS would be extremely difficult near impossible to implement imo cause of the roguelike dungeons, you'd need to build and train some AI model that can recognise enemy movement and attack patterns as well as all the possible room layout variants and spawn positions, also you'd need to teach it map gen and probs also item drop rates and different methods for different room reward options especially in the first 5 mins of the run

I think it would be very cool to see but unfortunately with the resources we have available currently I don't see how it'd be possible

Unless there was some way we could force set seeds for generation but idk if that is possible

i havent messed with any emulator past dolphin so i may be talkin outta my ass

and iirc snes (cant remember if dolphin had it too) emulators allowed giving inputs on a frame by frame playback

so using a combo of savestates and this we could potentially manipulate the game to giving shorter levels in crusades while also lining everything up perfectly, from having every follower being affected by the interactions or potential dupe glitches

My speedrunning has always been done as a casual runner. Playing through a game multiple times I’m naturally going do it faster. Once i finished 100% and turned my attention towards neo-100% i just kinda lost interest in the game. Didn’t help that i needed to dedicate an entire day to the run.

Current patch runs mean you have access to pentinence and quickstart modes which are faster than downpatched versions, only downside is no fun big glitches and bugs to exploit (as far as we know...)

In current patch you can still access a type of follower count glitch, and moving during the cut scenes

There is also something interesting when you use certain swipe curses against a wall it can do more damage than usual

Oh and once I managed to skip past Midas' room once without the cutscene playing which is good because it means less rooms spawned

This can be done on repeat, it works essentially the same as how ratau skip works I believe (but it's a bit more lenient with which entry/exit points are required to not get pulled into dialogue), I managed to get through an entire silk cradle without triggering it one run many moons ago I was extremely surprised it worked haha

this can also be verified by enemies that drop bombs when they die will transfer over to the next room if they havent been blown up yet before the room is left

also we know that we can push certain enemies out of bounds and they can get stuck, so i reckon theoretically it is possible

(not sure if this is only in certain patches, definitely know it was a big thing earlier on and was a big cause of a lot of my softlocks lmao)

Any% you dont even have to take care of your cult except to get the numbers to unlock doors

And bishops is just getting the bishops as followers

Marriage you do gotta manage them a bit

And 100% and neo rely on them heavily since a lot of what ya need is locked behind followers

But generally you dont have to pay your cult much attention

They are mostly side content

Zealous weapons give you divine inspiration when you collect fervor on a crusade.

There is a card that doubles or triples the amount of fervor you get

The white fleece has a 4/16 chance of giving you it when you enter the level.

In my unofficial neo100 I used that to fill out the shrine nodes faster.

And then not collect the last shrine node. As that kept the amount of fervor needed at ≈460 for a number to go up instead of ≈1600

So I got 19 divine inspiration points, which lead to 18 tears when I chose to collect them all

It does mean you can't use the main shrine for that time though so I built 7 mini shrines and upgraded them throughout the run

I think if you can get q to work it would be beneficial in a run as short as leshy%

Getting omnipresence only saves about 3-7 seconds (I think? It's not much) per use depending on the patch you're running on (whether or not you have the instant button hold accessibility feature)

So it can be worth it for longer runs, but for shorter runs like leshy% where you'll only use it 4ish times then it's probably not worth the time spent unlocking it in the temple

But I'm not sure if it's been tested yet or not, someone is welcome to get the numbers if they feel like it haha

In any% you should get the shard before unlocking relics so you can’t get the relic in the same trip.
