Once you learn how to play it well it can be “cheap”. Unfortunately there are no other ways to get enough tickets

It will still feel like a waste of gems even when you’re doing well. Iirc it usually takes ~1k gems for 1 rank 5 ancestor

No, the way to do is to prioritize getting tickets from safe rooms, no finishing the actual cave. Ideally you should try not to go past the 10 gem skip unless you’re really close to a safe room with tickets

Then repeat the cave until you get another “good run” (I usually don’t spend on the 1st trap unless I get it after room 10)

I try to stay around 10 tickets for every 1 gem spent. That usually means I won’t skip more than 2 traps unless ik I can get to a safe room with 400+ tickets afterward (room 20+)
