It is easier to collect monsters now than it has ever been. But things like war and PvP are also more competitive than ever. So it depends on the player and what they want to do and enjoy in the game. It is definitely possible to just play casually and collect

Not totally true, i met some users ingame that were looking for a team just to do friendly battles or chat ingame, some out there just love using Legendaries, i miss too playing with legendaries, Mythics are too easy to use, Legendaries used to have some tricky movesets that made battles interesting
