I believe you are talking about the bestiary awakens, each one has a different purpose/does different things, it shows in the description of what it does through each level (has 5 or so levels) The way to get it/them are to unlock/rebuild the bestiary and then do the dungeons for them under the dungeon tab, there is usually one there that offers a few hundred shards. 1000 shards are needed to summon a level 1
