2. Move the egg to the hatchery.
3. Gem the hatch.
4. If 3 unlocked slots, turn wifi/data on.
5. If not, quit the game.
6. Turn wifi/data on. Restart your game and go back to step 1.

You don’t even have to do that. Just tap the monster that’s ready to hatch, look at the rune slots before you hit the place button, and hit the red cancel X in the top right if you don’t want to place that one because it’s short on rune slots
