Mutation is when a monster's physical form is altered severely by the corruption by either rapidly evolving it to fit the nearby environment better or by increasing its size and direct power whether it be outer inner life or mutation one effect is consistent and that is increasing the monsters overall power and Magic capabilities. It's important to note that not all corruption era monsters have been in direct contact with l or the corruption blast about 50% of the monsters have simply been impacted by the environmental changes of the corruption explosion or the resulting conflict between the corrupted and non corrupted luckily it seems the non-corrupted have won the war due to the lack of corrupted monsters beyond the corrupted era things of note along with later eras there seems to be a high amount of references to a place known as the Cardinal Forest and a swamp which is where a couple of the corrupted monsters reside
