IMPORTANT: The lost-coin phenomenon described below has been verified by two reliable maze experts on iOS and android. The issue has been reported to MLO bugs-discussion.
While it is widely understood / accepted that 225 coins become available every 4 hrs, in reality you may have noticed that you've received less than that amount at the end of 4 hrs. It turns out that you can theoretically reduce each pool by half.
All that you need to do to start losing coins is to simply log in and log out in between the 4 hr intervals. It doesn't appear to matter what you do once you're in the game: collect coins, don't collect coins, or simply do nothing and log back out within seconds of logging in. The simple act of logging in and out of the game even once may cause you to start losing one coin per pool.
For now, if maximizing coins is your top priority, all that you can do is to try and avoid logging in and out between 4 hr intervals. The following methods have been tested and confirmed to NOT cause any coin loss and maintain all 225 coins at exactly 4 hr interval.
One long log-in session every 4 hrs: Remember, it is repeated, multiple log-in / log-out in between 4 hrs that appears to cause coin loss. The solution is to log-in one time and do everything you need to within that one log-in session. Perform collection, dungeon battles, multiple PvP for 72hr challenges, War attacks, Monsterwood, etc. Do everything in one session, then don't log in until next collection time.
48-minute intervals: You can also log in at 48 minute intervals as this is the least common multiple of all of the item counters.

You'll need around 1300 coins and you don't have enough time to get all those coins because you have at most 4 collections left which will only give 900. so unless you spend a bit you'll be short 400 coins.

If you do a max of 5 collections a day and you have 2 days until the discount you could get 2250 coins. MW gives 400 I think and every time you do the breeding you get a couple. But I don't think you can get Roost Waine without spending so here are the costs for the 3 legendaries.

If you have 3.2k right now you have a chance at the discount but you would have to do perfect collections and you may have to lose a bit of sleep.
You should go for Zunobia then because that is definitely possible
And having 2 good legendary attackers for someone who just started is very good
Charmless is spam attacker and Zunobia has pierce so they are both very good
Your only problem would be people that have Marquis
I learned the hard way that mazes are annoying. I didn't do enough collections and then tried to get charmless and marquis and ended the maze with nothing
And my friend got both Cybele and Mudflow with minimal effort which made me mad
