There is an advantage to use final attack in last hour. At this point it can be beneficial to attack an easier base for 3 guarenteed coins if there are plenty of easy ones left. Before that spacing attacks and using strongest team only when possible. Every time someone attacks an easier base with a weak b team that is potentially 3 coins lost by a weaker team member who might not have any options.

Your first few wars will be a little lopsided. It's to test what league your team is suited for. If you are capable for gold league, then you'll get there fast with boosted trophies.

Only reason it would take that long to find a matchup varies on the number of people on your team. So they find an opposing team that has similar numbers
