melbourne cup - its one of the biggest horse races in the world. im pretty sure melbourne is the only city that has a day off for it, and its always the first tuesday of november (going into spring). most places (schools especially) take the monday off, because there's no point having a weekend, then a day of work, then a public holiday. hence, its a great time to go away for holiday, since its effectively a 4 day weekend

So people use discord to create servers that they'll call a clan, an then they will invite people

A clan is a group of people with a leader and the players

Clans can join leagues to play against other clans in 3v3 / 4v4 / 5v5 and the clan that wins the season can win codes etc..

It is in fact an alternative way to play the game.

But the most active period for clans and leagues was before 2022
