Yeah, I was using Skullface for awhile and was like "This is FINE, but I feel like there could be better..." and then I was using Wiz, but was still missing some jumps and thought "this is a pretty short loop; maybe I don't NEED a bunch of stats..." and so I went through and Hawt Dog stood out

I tried him in a few other races but just doesn't seem to work

I think MAYBE he might be okay on Cloud but other maps I don't think are short enough

first you need an almost frame perfectly timed first boost that shoots you just over the fence and then you need to do another almost frame perfect boost just before hitting the fence and bouncing of it at the perfect angle to just barely make it over the fence. And then after getting near frame perfect inputs back to back, you then have to do the single boost cut 2 more times!!!

I think this could work on all maps. On your second jump you just went over and din't even hit yourself off.

Each map probably has a small barrier against you going back, but with this you can go over it and cycle all maps in quick time. Really impressive!

i dont think so. i think it works on space because of the track above the finish line. on most tracks the finish line hitbox extends very far up but on space, theres track right above so the tracks hitbox has to be shortened so you dont hit the finish line on the track above. therefore, if you put mines right in front of the finish line and boost into it, you get sent into the hitbox of the track above, meaning the finish line doesnt reach there, and then you land right behind the finish line and the lap counts because the game never registered you going back through the finish line

They tank mines and banana and rockets, and maybe tornadoes. At the start there a demon as well. I use a terrible Chromebook, and every time I refresh the page, or close it or anything my progress resets. This change would save me literal hours each week that I could use to be grinding, while still requiring you to grind out egg if your playing with your friends

basically with the 3 and 1 boost you can with good timing go under the finish line (like in the last lap) and go there,

however the main pain point is that this is again a lag/low batteryt type of situation

however you actually can't get too low battery or else it just rng and usually a worse skip than the normal

ideally between 15-30% battery and make sure your in low power mode, or battery saving mode, or whatever its called

also you can do an anti-cut if you take the ramp and then go right with 3 boosts to make it to wheer teh skip is normally done

Green rockets always bounce off the left guardrails and almost always explode upon impact at some stretches of the right guardrails, depending on whether they bounched there or got shot there. Doesn't make sense from a game development point of view. I think it's a bug.

• If it hits the left barrier first, it will bounce on the right. If it hits the right barrier first, it explodes immediately most of the time on some stretches. This seem to also partly depend on the angle of impact.
• Sometimes the green rocket just immediately hit the ground and explodes - without even going forward.
• The red rocket doesn't get pass the ramps sometimes.
• I still get hit by a rocket sometimes despite having the protective spike balls up.
  ...there are some other bugs I can't remember at the moment. I play insane mode on Jungle track exclusively, maybe 50 races per day, every single day, and have been doing that for months. Just wanted to report weird things to devs in case they weren't aware.

I just remembered another one. The red rocket is supposed to track the guy in front. But when I'm leading and catch up to the slowest guy, the rocket doesn't seem to recognize that he's in front of me (because he's behind me in ranking).

It's always an interesting balance between fairness and randomness - We do ofc make it so you are more likely to get the goods when in a worse position BUT don't wanna get rid of the randomness. Generally that chaos rewards better driving most of the time BUT any given sunday, a noob can chain together some nonesense to win

Yeah, totally understandable. One thing I've been thinking about is when playing insane it's basically impossible to catch up to the top guy once they get a lead. But not only because they are fast. If the computer is also occupying 2nd and 3rd place and they are close, they're usually able to prevent the top guy to be too far ahead. Like crabs preventing each other to escape kind of effect. But usually, I'm 2nd. I place mines and banana peels preventing everyone else to catch up, while not able to catch the top guy myself. My kart isn't fast enough, and it's basically only the red rocket that give me a chance to do anything at all. When running 2nd I won't get the skull, nor lightening, nor the nor the green screen... and usually the green rocket is useless because he's too far ahead. Spike balls are completely useless too in this case. Now to be fair I usually win about 40-50%, which I guess isn't bad. But it's mostly due to events outside of my own control. Like they run into a mine, or they run/fall outside the track right before the finish line (Jungle track).

Not sure whether you want to tweak anything in this case, just wanted to make you aware as this is a very common scenario.

also there is a little bug where sometimes on space when you go on the 2nd ramp (counting the shortcut ramp), the one after the series of multiple boosts, if you drive straight at it on the boosts sometiems it just doesnt give you enough distance to cross over because of a weird collision. idn't but the ramp isn

Something weird has been happening on the Jungle track in the past few days. The wiz fishing drivers off the track seem to sometimes teleport them forward. This hasn't happened to AI drivers since the track change a couple of months ago. Doesn't seem to be an intentional feature either, and I haven't been able to replicate it. 9 out of 10 times it happened to AI drivers and I wasn't sure what happened, until today it happened to me.

I was at the top track, fell off unintentionally, and suddenly I got fished up and brought across the map pretty far away straight to the finish line... what's the devs opinion on shortcuts? On one hand, there are well known shortcuts available on different maps. On the other hand, the previous changes to the Jungle track seem to be preventing the shortcut specifically.

I think at this point we are remis to make any changes to the tracks since the speedrunning community is getting established. The bug you are seeing has likely been there all along

you could still do bug fixes (even on all tracks like a new whole bug fix and revamp) but you would just have toc reate a new category for before and after the bug fix

Possibly, but not very likely. I have never seen them before until the rocket bounce correction a few days ago, and I have over 2500 wins on that track. So it went from never before to about 10 times in the past few days alone. It's very obvious because when it happens I'm usually in the final stretch and all of the sudden I drop from #1 to #2 without anyone passing me.
