its not about preference but playstyle. if you are CQB player 110 (as high as possible) if you are a sniper / rifle player that likes long distance shots, lower.

Scanning a wide area for movement to catch people you don't have a clear focus on yet is where higher FOV can be beneficial to a sniper

and the scope does most of the work of giving detail at distane
