Using evidence in general is always a great way to deal with reports. I wouldn't discourage that, steam got it inbuilt now in your client if you dont have anything set up since before. You can include recordings when you report through customer support.

i’m afraid i won’t be of much help there, more than wikipedia. seems to be about how the image is rendered.
1080i is for "interlaced" where only half the picture is displayed at once, so you’d have even rows of pixels displayed, then odd rows of pixels
1080p is for "progressive" and you basically have the whole image at once
1080i is old stuff
old TVs would have a refresh rate of 50Hz, so you would have an effective image rate of 25Hz with interlaced
