the thing with the term "rat" is often skewed. different people have their opinions on what a rat playstyle is. is it sitting in a building with a bunch of traps waiting for a team to run into you. is it sitting in a bush waiting for a team to run past you. is it just sitting in a building and then waiting for a team then melee all 3 of them.

What im trying to say is, playing solo against trios or duos means you are already at a disadvantage and will most likely need to use other means to win fights, you will obviously not win a fight by running into a building or pushing a trio all by yourself. so being solo and being a rat is seperated by a very thin line.
