You have now extended your ease of landing shots further away, but traded that from moving 2-tap to the upper chest from 50m to 46m, so the shots you can more easily hit doesn't kill anyways.

Even with the advent of revolvers there were the struggle to make a gun that wouldn't explode in your hand when fired.
And that is basically the biggest issue with old muzzleloaders, they need to be a certain degree of "weak".
Like don't get me wrong it will fuck you up, even so more than modern firearms, but that is more or less contributed to the ball itself. But that is just them acting as dum dum ammo.
