I think realistically a pennyshot Derringer is very reliable insurance in most situations, its why the Romero is dirt cheap and the Crown so expensive. The ability to put down multiple hunters is invaluable. When you're in shotgun range you're usually already in a bad situation where you do not have time to reload or reposition

Swapping to your sidearm is faster than reloading, the tactic of the Derringer is to catch them on a corner when they press you. If someone is pushing you that aggressively they're not likely to keep a safe distance

Unlike your statement about "everybody here lands 99% of their shots but you gotta be ready for the 1%" I prefer being ready for the 99% of the situations rather than relying on the 1%, your chances at getting a kill with each shot of the penny derringer in a situation where you are 1v2 or 1v3 depend on so many factors such as positioning of you and the enemies, where the fight takes place, their loadouts, how close they are to eachother etc. etc.

Again I am by no means saying that penny derringer is bad, I'd argue it's too strong as a tool, but my core argument was that it's useful in every loadout sure especially with dealing with stronger AI faster, but I don't think it's any more useful with romero handcannon specifically nor is it any more needed with it compared to other loadouts
