In teams the amount of bars means how many times you can be revived by your teammates since you lose a bar every time you die

And also losing a smaller bar means losing less max HP when you die so you are less likely to be 1 tapped if the enemies whiff their shots and hit your limbs or such

I wouldn't really bother mixing and matching big and small bars, just go all big as a solo and all small when playing with others

12 - Each Player's Individual Instance
1 - Server's Factual Reality which gets passed upon to all those 12 instances.

Every player instance reports its impact on their instance and server synchronizes it.

The synchronization window is so tiny that if your internet sucks you get invalidated the moment someone's better internet managed to send a claim against yours with a narrower deviation from current time-stamp on the server side.
