the poison benefit is just makes a failed shot slightly less bad, it doesn't help you with optimal bow usage, aka one-shot kills. In fact, the hipfire penalty you get from poison arrows directly makes these optimal bow plays harder. Sidegrade if you're bad, downgrade if you're good.

Heavy knife has less range and more damage, what you are interested is on its attributes. Heavy knife sucks against players (in the sense that it has less range) but it has more damage. Light attack one shot grunts and has more range than the heavy attack. Stamina ussage is better on heavy knife, but that doesnt make it better. Its only "better" against AI provided certain scenarios (like the lack of an stamina syringe)
