@idle matrix again, all speculation. Have you read the communique?
Hunters are naturally more resilient than normal humans, and they have some connection to the rifts... and there's speculation that what's her name was the first hunter
Also @wintry panther either way I’m pretty sure a dev confirmed revive is just mechanics.
And do we actually know whether there is a God or the Devil? For all we know this could be Ragnarok or magic. There are so many religions lines and old magic techniques Hunt could be biased on
OIh ok
My b
Didnt know the dev confirmation came through
@idle matrix Smart!
So the devs have talked about this
That the religious element is people trying to make heads and tails of what is going on. They see the crisis going on rn through their own religious lens and that is why we get so many different definitions or perspectives
@high helm having the wellspring is being connected to it
@idle matrix religion is not to be taken at face value. You’re not far off! Religion in Hunt is mostly used to explain the unexplainable. It’s just what people of the time use to understand what they’re seeing.
and hunters are connected to it through their ritual blooc which is why they can see rifts through darksight
interesting thought about revives
if i may weigh in
lynch teaches the twins to burn hunters
and other hunters take hearts
perhaps this is a way to prevent revives if it IS a lore mechanic
Hecc. When can I cut out hearts?
@forest condor having the wellspring then dying is not being connected to it
?
Elaborate
if you die, you are no longer connected to the wellspring
Correct.
. . .honestly from reading the lore, I think Lynch was never of our world. It was someone who came here from the other world, and took human form.
I want to Kali Ma my enemies to keep them from reviving
@solid current yep. It’s confirmed, more or less.
@solid current Yeah its speculation but that is what I think too. There are a couple other journals about her becoming a kid again and coming back from being burned. She definitely is something
Question is..... what?
She’s probably a loa.
^^
So, from the communique, we know that QP hunters are coming from our world, but they've been tainted with something like the sculptors power... It almost sounded like it could be ritual blood gone wrong, so they send them out after a wellspring so one survives, and so they all have a motivation to fight for the wellspring.
The ritual blood corrupts hunters.
you missed our discussion before
NO
Hunters aren’t Human?
lol jk
Idk the lore I just started
Like originally they were Human but when the plague hit and they fought back they figured out it enhances them
They are, they just use demon juice to inoculate themselves against the affliction in the dead zone.
It basically rots them slowly and all that.
Hunters seem to just be humans with the ritual blood... they get rekt just like normies if they go to the area without ritual blood
Ye.
So Hunters don’t go back to kill the plague. They go back for a refill. Kinda like a rejuice. Hunters risk their life and go for bounties because they are addicted to the power given to them
@idle matrix They might not be human after. One thing that contests with your theory is the Meathead entries. Where a hunter tells his wife what he is. They do the ceremony and she becomes a hunter too. They have a hunter baby and it is corrupt and kills them
The ritual blood is a one time thing.
If Hunters wanted to destroy the Plague they would work together and clap the demons cheeks. But they kill each other for it. The murder and brutalize each other. Why? To be the top and the only one who gets the demon juice
Is there anything anywhere that talks about the demon juice bein addictive?
Infighting between associations or factions
it sounds to me like the ritual blood is all it takes to zombify a baby, and that's more just a reaching effect of the sculptor
I wonder if the kid went evil cause he didn’t get the right dosage of the stuff. He is a little man and needs a little man sized roid shot
So yeah. Pre-Sculptor
but it's the same kind of energy as the plague/deadzone/what the sculptor uses
presumably energy from the other dimension
@idle matrix Yeah think of hunter blood as getting a vaccine, you just take a little dosage of the larger disease. Now imagine if you were soaked in the stuff
I think demons and the Sculptor are not from the same place, but can’t prove it. Either way, their blood prevents outside influences.
What if the Sculptor is just like an old god? Extracting revenge on the Christ driven humanity that now (In his eyes) Christ Plagued earth?
The baby became SUPER powerful and that is probably due to too much hunter blood
@idle matrix that's highly unlikely since there's been other instances of sculpters
The first hunter baby happened long ago when the aha was pretty fresh in the USA. Basically yeeted his mom and then 12 hunters. The latest became big chungus
@high helm well the twins forced her to start assuming her true form and we know she isn’t human. She also has some kind of grudge against Sculptor.
And when the twins meet the god of death he has a grudge out for Lynch
hunters, dont be fools, wrap your tools please... you makin too many meatheads...
^
lol
No more big chunguses please.
@high helm Well the way the devs made adding women to the game canonical was through the idea that since babies=big chungus, they made a serum so that hunters cant have kids
this made it possible to add women to the ranks
isnt lynch the first hunter tho?
Mmmm, unless she’s been around hundreds of years, no.
We are not entirely sure on who the first hunter is yet
rituals and shit tho
It’s possible she’s been around that long, but probably not before the Sundering
what's the sundering?
Apparently the biggest event in the Huntverse. I theorize it happened long ago and is why we have associations and rifts.
i think it wasnt that long ago, since the towns were clearly built before everyone got zombified
We know events have been going on for hundreds of years all over the world
The sundering isn’t strictly related to the Sculptor
We only know it was the worst\largest event
so the sundering isnt in the bayou?
I think it was the first event ever, but we can only speculate there.
We have nothing besides a dev comment on the sundering to confirm its existence
Not just that but we know that not only has this problem happened around the world and been happening for a while, but that what is going on in the Bayou is a major shift in the timeline
Something big is going to happen allegedly we just dont know what
"Q: When was the first 'recorded' incident? Where did that incident take place?
A: Not ready to reveal that yet. But clues are all over our in game and marketing material. The whole supernatural thing is not limited to New Orleans. The new Orleans event starts (again) around 1895. Something else happened in 1885 too.
"
@late tinsel Have we doven into what happened in 1885
A mild poltergeist of some kind. Something tossed objects around. Didn’t seem extremely serious, but I don’t think we have much at all on it.
@forest condor Honestly the other cases of other sculpture might not be too far off from ancient powers or old gods. We had so many Gods back then that it could be so many things. Another way to look at it (through the heaven and hell standpoint) is possessions. The fucked up Grunts are lesser demons and the Bosses are demons like Belph and beelzebub. The sculptors are just the Devils denizens on Earth that are his channel into our earthly realm. The Goal of the plague is to open the portal. Everybody that is infected is actually possessed.
@idle matrix So there is an interesting point to be made here
Lemme grab some quick pics and ill explain
So this is from the desk of a hunter (canon) and it has pictures taken from the Dictionnaire Infernal (more commonly known as containing the 72 demons of Solomon and explains demon hierarchy). The hunter logo is actually over a picture of the Hellhound
What if we are all thinking WAY to into this and it just an invasion or something like that
Wait
Exactly
But we dont know for sure if this is applicable across the board
For the hellhound yes, but there is nothing referring to the other demons
Some homie whipped out a oujia board and said what’s up homie to the devil. Hung out a bit then decided to become his vessel for a hell campaign?
@idle matrix Question for you: Lets say that is true... what do you think the bosses would be affiliated with
You need descriptions. Pictures give false impressions and ideals. It’s the Description and the biblical verses that will give insight
Like Moloch would be the Butcher based on the picture. But what if he is the gluttony demon? You would want the demon who commands the elites or dwells in the hell pits for the Butcher
Je ne parle pas la Francois
@wintry panther hol up, ill translate, take some time tho.
he litterally just said he didnt speak french
@wintry panther
je ne parle pas le francaise LITTERALLY translates to i do not speak the french
@wintry panther whats your research assignment
-_-
@wintry panther Hello!!!
I tried to speak french one time and got labeled as "speaking french very femininely" by a gorgeous waitress in France and that was the end of my career
@acoustic owl wassup!
🇫
One second my dude Im gonna see if what I have might be a wild goose chase or worth looking into
Can anyone link me where we get our "dark sight" ability from
@forest condor @sinful trout @late tinsel
I forget exactly where but I can try and find it
Its either the louvant or from the news articles
I think
Hunters receive it when they become initiated if you'd like more information go read the meathead entries
@turbid pecan
@turbid pecan it's in the Meathead enteries
Right forgot to ping
Aaaaaand twins are girls too
Idk if this is Lore or an Easter egg for the Devs but can somebody explain the gravestone with the child’s doll on it?
ah thank you @forest condor
With the crazy amount of Easter eggs and hidden meaning and Lore in the game I think it might actually mean something
Some of it is, some of it isn’t. A lot of the Easter eggs are just neat things to find. Like the tree guy, delorean, Duckenstein’s monster, toasty dominos lads, the almanac, etc etc.
@idle matrix
Some stuff is significant, but a lot of the dolls and ducks aren’t. That said, children DID die from the affliction. So, maybe that was just some kid’s doll. Wouldn’t read too much into it.
The devs love ducks for some reason
Hunt is really just a big setup for Untitled Duck Game and it’s been under our noses all the long.
Idk. I would think if we looked into the devs and their personal life one of them will have a kid or nephew or cousin or sibling of the same name that passed away at an extremely young age
Do you got a picture of her? Or something I can read about her? Idk who Lynch is
Lynch's eyes flicked quickly around her, prey, hype aware of the presence of the predator. She could not abandon her body as long as she was in this world. In that other place, she could wield so much power, yet here, she was bound and gagged by her own flesh. She unfocused her eyes, searching the Darkness for the closest rift. And
Good. when she ran, the twins did not follow. Only later, in order to find the rift Lynch had fled through and close it for
Lynch's arm was changing. Sharp carapace ripped through the leather of her coat, revealing a grey spiked limb, double jointed and bent at strange angles
Because she’s a hunter. But also not human.
Sounds like she's human but was able to control the power from the other world
Just because she started changing doesn't mean that she's not human, it just means that something's changing about her
The armoureds are still human though changed
Mmm, the twins tell Lynch it’s time for her to go home..
Also it would make sense for her to feel limited in our world since she could world more power in that world
It having a sense of home for her, or her even referring to is as a home would make sense too
Maybe. I got the feeling they were about to outright banish her.
Hmm
Plus the inhuman shape she was taking on is just like, too much to ignore for something that can’t be killed in our realm and has pissed off entities from other worlds.
But that’s just me.
She could be changed by the price of her magics, maybe, but I think it’s unlikely she’s from our world at all.
Maybe that's the cost of suing darksight
Since she wasn't killed she could have been using the blood longer than anyone else
It might have driven her towards something like that
@idle matrix If you want to read up about Lynch there is a ton on her in the Book of Weapons. Besides the "Bad as They Seem" Entries (Ill post below the organized version I made), look at Machete, Pax, and Winfield Compact
Sounds to me like the Lynch is becoming an Assassin. Grey spiked limb double jointed and bent at strange angles. Sounds almost like a hunter who was consumed into the Hunt and fell drunken to its power
And thank you @wintry panther I will read into it
@idle matrix She is weird. In machete you see her in child form, and in pax she knows how to trap demons, and through it all she checks her cards as a divination. The Bad as They Seem really goes into her relationship with the Twins and more into what her objective is.
She uses a normal deck though
Like this
@idle matrix Assassin is her bitch
She takes on sculptor
It says she has a grudge with him
@idle matrix assasin is actually vincent corscia :) you can read up on him in the assasin entries
Bro I got a lot of reading to do. I am so far behind in this lore
@wintry panther can that be pinned to the channel?
Haha yeahhhhh there is a lot of reading involved since they don't do cinematics or anything. Its all hidden lore
Pin the Bad as they seem? @idle matrix
@wintry panther you god there's a reason you have that moniker on your name
scribe is right
thanks for the organized version
Bro I had to read it in bits and pieces cause of work. Now that I’m on my lunch it’s kinda fucky
Like I loved the story but it made me think
Who knows who the world snake is?
Jörmungandr? Spawn of the Norse God Loki and Giantess Angrboda (Angrboða)
Basically it’s a Giant snake wrapped around Midheim or earth. The snake is in the deepest oceans and darkest tunnels eating itself from mouth to tail.
@forest condor I gotchu! ❤
Jörmungandr’s one and only job is to basically destroy Midheim (or earth in terms) and the only thing stopping him is the fact that he is in a very deep slumber
But during his slumber his dreams cast out nefarious forms of himself to further his plan. Sending his serpent spawn across the map to spread death and destruction.
@eternal crystal Im sorry for asking so much but could you also pin this please ❤
@wintry panther Never feel bad for asking! That is what im here for ❤
And i love these docs
@idle matrix That seems like it could be a legitimate lead. This game takes influences from many religions so I wouldnt put it past them to include that
Being the Son of the trickster God Loki he carries those trickster traits. For all we know one of his spawns is the snake of the story
@eternal crystal Thank you! Haha Im just trying to make it all easily accessible for anyone interested
Turning the twins against Lynch and furthering the cause of evil to take over the world. One person could have stopped evil and it was Lynch but Jörmungandr thwarted that plan by turning her disciples against her
That’s how I take it at least
@idle matrix gonna be trying to record an audio version of the events so people like you can listen instead of reading
since you don't have much time to read
In the Norse religion the Jötnar (giants) are the opposing force of the Gods. The Jötnar are basically elementals following the main lines of fire and ice but traveling into realms of earth and wind. Even a lighting giant
There are Gods of death and realms of chaos that seep into the human realm or Midgard. It’s been clear that this isn’t truly the work of God and his Angels (that’s just how the population interprets it). For all we know there is a lead following Norse Mythology that could bring much of this into light. I figure with enough research we could find the Giants and their denizens that’s could possibly be responsible for this
Using stones to pass into the “underworld” and speak to the God of death sounds ALOT like how the Greek God Hermès would travel to and from the underworld
I think looking into ancient religions and their ideas and ideologies could make some of the lore more clear
@idle matrix Another thing the stones to pass into the underworld is related to is Baron Samedi, a voudou loa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baron_Samedi
There are a ton of interesting religions that could fit the bill and a ton of cross references
Perhaps it’s an old spirit? Somethin that has been tryin to grow in power and throughout history has made an effect on the world causing all these different interpretations in different religions. Perhaps it has just now gained enough power to get a foothold in this world and it’s powers that we are seeing is actually pieces that have been recording in religions around the world?
Cain could be a consideration. Here since the very beginning. He would have been able to influence the world and every religion around him. As he waited thousands of years to grow in power to finally unleash his assault on humanity
About the world snake , I know it isnt much to go on but there was a concept art with Norse lettering on the side of a house so there is definitely germanic influence in the game
@idle matrix I love the idea that it could be something throughout history that is affecting other religions
@sinful trout @forest condor https://discordapp.com/channels/350201607788429323/370142302196334593/631568324748247061
I’d wanna take a look at the Norse Runes. Certain clans and followings of tradition followed certain beliefs. Yes they had the same gods but because of distance and father to son religion and tradition passing (never really written down) it could be the same gods in Germany but have different meanings than the ones in Sweden
Tyr (my personal patron God) had a much larger influence in regions whereas in other regions he was somewhat passed over by The All Father Odin
You’re thinking midgardsormr @wintry panther ?
Err wait it’s already been brought up
I said Midheim (Idek why I did) but I meant Midgard
Disregard.
I was summoned
Just what I said about the religious ties and the discussion that came from the twins and Lynch
@idle matrix The runes are on the side of this house
@sinful trout I was summoning you to look over this "Perhaps it’s an old spirit? Somethin that has been tryin to grow in power and throughout history has made an effect on the world causing all these different interpretations in different religions. Perhaps it has just now gained enough power to get a foothold in this world and it’s powers that we are seeing is actually pieces that have been recording in religions around the world?" from SophisticatedRedneck
@late tinsel
Do you think the origins of the religions could tie together to one source in this game?
I think it could honestly. There are so many different pieces that pull from so many religions that it could easily do just that
Maybe? That’s sorta why I repeatedly warn people to never take religion at face value, along with the fact that religion has repeatedly been hinted at being a way for people to explain the unexplainable in Huntverse. There’s a little truth in several of them, but you’re talking about a huge cavity that we can only speculate on for now. There’s no revelations or factual conclusions we can draw without more lore. Entertain the idea, but be certain to separate fact from theory, and mention it’s just speculation when you do so nobody gets confused.
We know there are many worlds, so there’s probably elements seen in various religions originating from different places if the rifts allow.
I have a suspicion you’re kinda right, but I don’t think the Sculptor is a big bad that was the reason all religions were founded. Maybe a few but I don’t think it’s some central devil figure. I think the Sculptor is just one of potentially many.
But that’s all speculation and personal thoughts
Maybe its multiple appearances of guys like the entity over time? Likea race of them?
@wintry panther There's supporting, and things that go directly against it.
Ex. In a note he says "a" sculptor as if there is more, Counter, We would have more experience in destroying them
I think you’ve the right of it @wintry panther
But again
We just don’t know
Something interesting we DO know is that there are multiple entities at work in the Louvent. Lynch might be one. The bosses all seem to be individual entities working with the Sculptor.
The Assassin is particularly interesting, especially since he operated for 5 years completely on his own before the affliction manifested.
It should also be noted the assassin is the only boss that makes human noises and seems to enjoy killing hunters.
@wintry panther did you notice anything peculiar about the runes?
I’ll let you tell me what you think
It is probably talking about water devils I think? Not too sure though
Some seem to be upside down
although Idk what purpose that has
@idle matrix
So it might mean the inverse of the meaning of the rune
They are upside down. Each tune isn’t a letter. Each has their own meaning. They also seem to be backwards
They seem to be upside down and mirrored yeah. No idea what it’s about though.
Idk. I personally am Pagan. Meaning I pray to the actual Norse Gods
I am fairly cultured in this so tonight after work I will sit down and do some tinkering with the tunes
Runes*
I will say tho. The very first Rune is not part of the base Rune system. I’ll research over the different types of Runes and symbols and see what I find. I’ll do language translations as well. There is a very very similar Rune but this current tune doesn’t quite add up
@sinful trout would Native American Culture, history, and Legends be a good thing to look into? This is around the time period we stole the lands. There is a good chance that the recently killed spirits are revolting against the foreigners
Probably a better question for @late tinsel
@idle matrix http://www.native-languages.org/louisiana.htm
Information on the Native American tribes of Louisiana,
with maps, reservation addresses, classroom activities and recommended history books.
These are the native americans of this time
Chitimacha are the ones that are going to be associated with the game most likely considering the game happens in the South Eastern part of Louisiana
We haven't heard much about their involvement in the game or their role, although I have a feeling they will be included due to high demand for a native american legendary skin.
@wintry panther
Wasn’t necessarily language. More of lookin at lore and real historical events at the time. Myths and beasts like the skin walker that could help
And I think I know what the runes mean. I found them and I found their inverted meanings. I believe that they are Viking but of the Celtic origin
The inverse meanings fit very well into what’s going on. Especially in that hut in the swamps alone
I haven’t messed around with what it would spell yet but I will come back to you about it
Sounds good my man, would love to see what you come up with
I’ve seen no evidence to suggest Native American folklore or curses are in the lore.
But maybe eventually
Yeah I figured it be worth a small look into
If you have a historical interest, check it out.
Just realized Leander Coetzee went toe to toe with the Victor that killed all of the AHA patients that were being trained
"I learnt later that it was Victor. I didn't really understand why he fired on us, but he did. And we fought. Him with his Sparks, I with my Vetterli. He killed my men outright, a single shot through both. Outraged, I had to close the distance, I recall It was like the war again, running from cover to cover. Counting the seconds it took him to reload that single barrel. I don't think he expected that. Used to killing the poor and vulnerable. We'd heard about the patients. Can't say I wanted vengeance, but I wouldn't let the chance pass by"
What was Victor's motive in trying to kill all of the Hunters? Do we know?
@wintry panther do we have a list of the potential Demons tied to the Lore? I’d like a list of names and I want to try and compare it to Names and words I am getting from these Norse runes
Who would I contact to get a list and pin it to the channel?
So there is the Dictionnaire Infernal from the desk of a hunter that I know of, Loa are from Voudou, and of course Christian influences
I actually have no idea wtf happened with Victor. When I found out he went apeshit and started killing hunters, I had no idea what the hell was going on. I’m not even sure Leander put victor down.
We know Leander survived but nothing about if VC did.
I had to reread those sections multiple times.
Its so fucked, first he is supplying the AHA with weapons, next thing you know he is blasting prisoners like its duck hunt, and hiding out in the asylum
Like tf happened
I’d like to know the same. He seemed genuinely excited to help the cause.
Also, do you think this is a quote from Ada Ruth Shell about killing her mother?
Kill the afflicted, their corpse still rises from affliction, maybe?
@late tinsel We are definitely missing some vital info because there must have been a switch in his personality or something. or maybe he came across the Sculptor or a Loa like the Twins? Also, doesnt seem like a good thing to blow your cover over 14 hunters if he was making bank trading weapons to the AHA
Maybe.... although its weird then that he fought Leander without changing form
We might want to revisit the steam cards too now that we have more info btw
The assassin can appear human and I think it’s hinted he outright shot people and threw knives while human.
Not VC, but Vincent.
But who knows? There’s something unnatural going on with VC. Guess we’ll find out. Also yeah nice work spotting that
BTW! I know where I feel like I have seen these steam cards before! THey are posted by concept artists!
Interesting 🧐
Okay. So.
Let me just put this out there...
Were told by devs, that for the most part. Religions are just religions in Hunt
Sculptor is from a different dimension entirely. Fact
He came here due to a punctured hole in our universe. Fact
These events pop up from time to time, fact
This isnt the first sculptor. Fact
This event is the result of karma/religious beliefs/wrongdoings... Wild speculation based on no fact.
^ ty
@sinful trout What do you think about the VC dilemma. Why did he go from enthusiastically supplying weapons to killing the AHA
In the twins story have you ever considered the Bird monster created by Lynch was Malphas? The Grand President of Hell himself bundled inside a human skin
Another thing is remember that Charlie Salter was hunting a Thunderbird
"Many years ago, I rode with a man by the name of Moses We were on the chase of something Said to be a Thunderbird. From Ogden to Eureka, we rode in its shadow across golden plains and dark mountains. We almost had it on the shores of the great Pacific, when the winds turned We watched it soar away on the trade winds, over ocean blue, disappearing into sunset, sun melting into sky "
@idle matrix please read my above post
I did. But without religion we don’t have much to base the origins from until we get new content or we just say it’s aliens or some shit
@wintry panther i think when huff told him the plans. There was something unfortunate for someone caldwell cared for.
Perhaps huffs plan was never to end the sculptor. Merely contain it
After all.
He did pay handsomely for those bounties
Spmething about these souls are pretty valuable
There is something to be said about William Salter stealing a bunch of Huffs notes too
he basically just grabbed what he could when he ran
"We were on the grounds with Finch's 14. I spoke of our plans when he suddenly became agitated, and disappeared, and they are all dead. He found a sniper's perch and picked them off, one by one."- Yeah something happened here
Now do you think the 14 were being used for something besides becoming normal hunters?
They go back to when Elwood was transferred in specifically for them
i think finches 14 were simply either
A. trainees that they were sculpting into part of their army
B. Finches 14 most trusted
Btw this is frustrating to continuity-------
"Doctor's Memorandum 27 June
14 asylum patients were brought to the infirmary at 4am this morning 11 dead on arrival, 3 with extensive wounds died in the following 3 hours from internal bleeding. Cause of death multiple gunshot wounds (rifle shot?), burns"
" It is a firearm with exceptional range, which we would see demonstrated in the most horrifying manner that evening "
This was posted June 29th
@wintry panther quick summary?
@sinful trout @wintry panther HMU fir research, I big bored
Wait
So June 29, 1895 was a Saturday
and here
"Caldwell arrived on Wednesday evening and though tired from the week-long journey from Connecticut, was eager to see one of our "home-grown Louisiana monsters. It took a good deal of persuasion to convince him he would not be best served to hunt in a state of exhaustion
Oddly, be had with him a Sparks! "Researching the competition, he told me as he displayed its fine form over breakfast the following morning
It is a firearm with exceptional range, which we would see demonstrated in the most horrifying manner that evening"
Wednesday is the 26th, so the incident happened on the evening of the 27th by this journal
You point?
Yet the doctors note says that it happened at 4am on the 27th
So the math doesnt add up
You got at theory, story, or link I can read in
@signal heart found a discrepency whenevr youre on
here are the two directly from the Book
its just a clerical error i believe
Yeah I assume it might be 4pm that evening it happened
Just was working on the timeline and had to reread it haha
@wintry panther Need... Research...
@acoustic owl Want research or help me with the timeline
Your choice friend.
"Q: When was the first 'recorded' incident? Where did that incident take place?
A: Not ready to reveal that yet. But clues are all over our in game and marketing material. The whole supernatural thing is not limited to New Orleans. The new Orleans event starts (again) around 1895. Something else happened in 1885 too."
Wanna find out what happened in 1885?
Yeah..... lemme try and find something else then
Ahh maybe
Do we know who Scagnamillion is based off of?
Notall characters are real life inspired. @wintry panther
True
Bro these runes kinda suck 😂. I have been going over the different letters and arranging and moving and going over the 4+ distinct Viking Runes and then covering bindings and modern and ancient tune distinctions and meanings. Honestly This isn’t huge but it’s very cool
Only one of the Saxon runes is tied to these
Though if sundering means break apart, and the sculptor came through a hole in the universe maybe the universe is slowly tearing at said hole? Purely hypothetical from a pure idiot.
I honestly sit somewhere on the fence of wondering if the runes matter or are just mirrored and flipped assets that were just meant to look spooky.
I asked the concept artist who did it and he never got back to me T_T
Why delet, @late tinsel
Context was bunk. Also, I tend to encourage theory and speculation. I don’t want to discourage them with my tone. Sundering could be anything atm. Have at it.
🤔
honestly, this event seems fucking horrible, not to mention the aha litterally has split apart, with no one left to lead the aha, letting the sculptor go at it while everyone starts to pick up their pieces
And if the military got involved it would go from bad to worse.
exactly
I didn’t really understand why the aha was so secretive until I read Lynch’s observations while making the serum.
Q: How did the hunter association keep people quiet about what's happening in the bayou and stop rumors from spreading
A: Most people thought it was a plague. People who got too close to the real story were sometimes killed. Rumors could not be stopped entirely.
Bruh the AHA were killing people to keep this hush hush
Yep.
I thought the military did get involved at some point and were wiped out
What did you think happened to your retired hunters?
0_0
Hahaha
Alright I have decided. Whoever put those runes on the wall had good intentions but was kinda dumb how they did it. I am certain they used the bindings of the Runes and didn’t look up when the Rune was used and by who it was used. They kinda just wing dicked it. They looked up Runes. Looked into what they said and then used them on the wall. I now believe the runes are not upside down or written backwards but they are the negative inverses of the Runes. Meaning they are the opposite of what they mean. I did some digging and looked into each individual Rune (the final Rune on the wall could be several different Runes because of pixelation and incompleteness). But I think I have an understanding for each Rune and the sad story it tells. I will also drop possible names or words that the Runes spell when I have finished up with this little research project
The fort on the map has been abandoned for awhile of I remember correctly. Haven’t seen any sign of military.
@idle matrix Lmao I wouldnt be surprised if that was the case XD This was just concept art so maybe he was like fuck it, let the lore team sort it out later
And on the note of killing people who got to close I think that might explain the torture. The people placed to watch over adventurous men and woman realized they were few and far between so whoever they could catch they would Torture and play with to pass the time. Another idea is they tortured them so they could
A. Desensitize themselves or new hunters to prepare for the evil they will one day face
Or
B. To Feel some stimulation because living in the swamps on watch has made them go numb and when they torture and cause pain they get more thrill from their kills
Just an idea. Not really related to lore but does explain all the fucked up shit you read and see out in the swamps
Q: Is the association secret or somewhat widely known? Wouldn't it be easier to deal with the incidents via mobilizing the whole U.S military instead of making mercenary groups?
A: There's a widely known hunter's association, but that's a front. Who says the powers at be want the situation resolved asap - or even believe there is a crisis? Look at the government response to the Bubonic Plague in San Francisco around the same time
This might help too
I think maybe the gov might be in cahoots too
Of course the Gov is in cahoots
I work for the government
When is the government NOT in cahoots with anything?
Lmao good point
Gov officials seem to know about it but are suppressing info about it.
Do you think this might be tied to Vincent the Assassin killing off mayors and stuff?
Possibly. The more curious people enter the DZ, the bigger army the others have.
Vincent is a dick
And we need to learn more about people affiliated with entities
Oh wait a sec
vincent, Lynch, and the axeman are all people from the other side
some are affiliated with the afflictors of out world and some fight against them
Ye that’s pretty much what I’ve been thinkin’ too.
If anyone has all of the BOOK OF GUNS unlocked could u post or pm me pictures of the pages. I want to read them all by the end of my shift
@acoustic obsidian theres a pinned document with all the book of weapons and book of monsters
Hawthorne was working on something a while ago and it ended up being the exact same quote as the Louisiana axeman
Ye. Don’t think it was coincidence. Axeman was a serial killer in New Orleans in the early 1900s, after Hunt takes place. His letter was pretty notorious and was similar to Jack the Ripper’s.
I think it was in the axe lore?
Idk
So Hawthorne and Axman might be the same person? Or perhaps Axman was one of his hunters or a protege
Aye I’m still learning. I just jumped into this yesterday
Thats alright :)
Axeman quote was in private messages between Hawthorne and essence. It was pinned to this channel some time ago
Thank you @wintry panther helped out a lot. I’ll start going though the pinned messages and whatnot. See what I can find. It’s gonna be slow cause it got several more hours of work so I’ll be spotty
No worries Ill be here all day if you need anything
Same here
@idle matrix personal theory is that the axman is similar to the assassin in he's a "human" in our world that seems to operate in some way with the entities
Kinda like Lynch?
Kinda.
With Lynch and Vincent in the mix, I think it’s safe to say the creatures of the other world aren’t just animalistic in their nature. They are absolutely intelligent and capable of strategic choices.
From the AMA
Q: Is there anything you can tell us about the water monster what or who is it based on?
A: It's complicated. The whole event is a mess, multiple entities are involved but in a different ways. However there is one entity though which is the main focus and the enemy.. We will tell you more in due time
So think of it as many different people with their own motives
Mhm. Just like the hunters.
So
You can spend only an hour in the zone
But journals tell of people spending nights there
The journals usually talk (like the romero) about people camping outside and then moving in
Also
Q: Any explanation why Hunters instantly die with no explanation when the contract timer expires? I understand this is gameplay-issue but any lore reason behind this?
A: Abstraction - when you're lost in the bayou, you're good as dead
@cold idol
No, there was something about being there for an hour
You become infected or something
There was guy who fought assasin for whole night
Oh man I forget which entry that was
Good point Ill have to reread that part
In the meantime.... "Hardin was been getting darker in his moods. Huff turned out to be no friend at all. I shot dead a would be assassin on the steps of our station. An old deputy. We found a letter on the body, said it was the work of Huff, and he burned the letter before I had a chance to read it. He said things have been different. Since Lynch."
And
"Bad As They Seem" -11-
A snake could just as well be ally as assassin. Could just as well be mother as killer. Ogun, for example, was a god of metal work and warriors, and the twins, blacksmiths and hunters, were fitting patrons. But chaos and chance were gods more powerful than the, masters of all."
interesting things to note
The mention of Ogun in the Bad as They Seem and labeling the twins patrons
Plus supposedly Huff trying to kill Russell Chambers and Hardin but something is different since Lynch? Does that mean while Lynch was controlling Huff? Or after huff was dead?
I think it's after huff
Man Russel shot was trying to kill Hardin, he was assassin as is entity
You know what my thoughts on the entities are?
They are just like humans in their dimension. There are good ones and there are bad ones
Some of them leaked into this world and caused some issues but I would not be surprised if there are actually ALOT more than those few we know about that walk amongst humans daily
It’s just the hero’s and the villains we hear about
Most of the AHA stays at a cabin outside the dead zone but some camp nearer to the border. It appears like some hung around even closer until it spread out even further. The guy who fought the assassin all night seems to be an odd exception.
Glanton did in fact camp close to and survive in the dead zone for possibly days at a time. Keep in mind he was adorned with some kinds of charms as well as initiated and trained by a nameless veteran hunter. This veteran hunter seemed to know very well what they were up against and seems like he passed on everything he knew to Glanton. It could be that the nameless hunter knew some tricks or carried a kind of blood (or maybe he was another loa?) that enabled Glanton to survive in ways most hunter couldn’t. Let’s be realistic- the assassin made short work of Black’s posse. How could Glanton fight that thing for hours?
I’d wager we’ll see more of Glanton, because that young buck is slated to continue being a bonafide badass.
Hell yeah I wanna see more of him, and that nameless hunter is so cool. Reminds me of the noob vs pro cod commercial XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t60azfi_tzE
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Lol for sure
I’m also betting we’ll see a Glanton skin. It’d be rad as hell to have the nameless hunter and Glanton enter the swamp together for a hunt.
The Twins might also be an exception but I’m still digesting their lore. They had quite a bit going on, talking to giant snakes and going on wild ass quests.
Yeah and theres tons of little tidbits here and there. Like at first they look like throwaway lines but the more you read the more they appear to have alternate meaning
Mhm. It helps to reread everything a few times.
Plus go back over old articles too, esspecially the newsletters since they hold a ton of info too
I’d like to see more lore characters other than Powell & Hardin in the legendary skins. Seems like the particularly interesting ones like Huff, Lynch, Finch, the Sinners, etc., all deserve to be around if the leader of NotH is available for us.
Jones doesn’t even have a fedora 😔
jones
has BONES
OH MY GOD
HIS NAME IS JUST A PUN
wait
nvm
its john
damnit
RIP
i was thinking of bone doc
Revoking your pun pass
@late tinsel @sinful trout @wintry panther Im taking like a week off lore im sad, my cats dying, I really don't feel happy right now. i might not even come back.
@acoustic owl Hey man, your cat is priority dont worry. Take time to do what you need. We'll miss you of course but we understand. Just drop in whenever you want or if you want and we will always welcome you 🙂
Gonna miss my research buddy, but hoping your cat and you the best and never be afraid to talk to us
Love you brotha
gracias
No problem!
ehat gun is the uppercut modeled after? colt NMA or NMN?
@rigid spindle so the game uses replacement names for their guns: Winfield is for Winchester, Caldwell is for Colt, Sparks is for Sharps, etc. from what I read on the wiki: The Revolver is based on the Colt Walker with a cartridge conversion cylinder that was introduced later.
Best bet might be the QNA or Hunt serious chat. There are some hardcore gun nuts who might know more
Someone said: Probably a Colt Walker Cartridge Conversion
It does have similarity of the NMA but i don't think they have a exact model they use! @rigid spindle
@wintry panther And super nice that you are so helpful
Appreciate it
@eternal crystal no thank you! This isn’t my expertise so always glad to have help 😄 and just doing my best to contribute
It would be cool if you could pick up books during matches and it would fill in a random page for your own monstrom. Kinda like a cash register
So this book is something we know nothing about currently
We have ideas.... but it’s a mystery
Someone even got a tattoo of it
@rigid spindle it's almost for sure a cartridge conversion for the Colt walker
@wintry panther or does the book have an image that would be tatooed on people?
Isn’t that the same logo on the monstrom?
@forest condor there was a guy in fanart who got a tattoo of the eye with the snakes
And the hand scarab if I'm not mistaken
I wouldn’t be surprised if a second snake appears in the lore somewhere. And it’s gonna be the equivalent of the snake from the Twins

Just gonna drop this here that this is from the concept artists interview newsletter
Tried talking to her about it but she is keeping hush hush about the meaning
So it has deep meaning then
not sure if that's a human skull in the middle
Looks canine
So can someone answer me this please
did they take out the Louisiana Event book from the Library on release? Because it's not in my Library
Check the pins for the Louisiana case files, they reposted them on their newsletter on the website so that anyone can access it
aye aye @wintry panther preciate it
I Gotchu!
@rotund ferry don’t be a boot 🥾. If you know you know
New Lore bro!
1.1
@late tinsel You can get Glanton's Romero Hatcher now!
Two new legendary skins
Phantom (DLC, cannot be purchased during the Test period)
Gus Leroux: A former lawyer with a penchant for violence, this theatrical Hunter covers his scarred visage with a mask--not because he is ashamed of the injuries beneath, but because it terrifies his opponents.
Llorona’s Heir (DLC, cannot be purchased during the Test period)
Much like the legend whose name she uses, Llorana earned her fearsome reputation by drowning her victims and haunting her enemies. Like a shade, she is fast and subtle, with both gun and knife.
@wintry panther chuckles in semi-correct predictions
Lmao dont worry its not much , but there are a couple new name drops and stuff
@late tinsel Hahaha gj, do we know of an Alison though? The new winfield is Indian
I mean yeah we do know if an Alison. The lady from the Twins story. She made friends with one of the twins and formed a bond with her
@wintry panther ☝🏻
Trueeee
We'll have to see if it has the twins logo on it
once the weapon is released
Maybe the twin snakes could be in conjunction with the Twins themselves in the monstrom
Thats was one theory for sure
Imma reread the story. See if I see anything peculiar
The question is why is it a book and it is on the desk of a hunter too
Its definitely vital to the central lore from what I know
The Monstrom that I sent the picture of? It’s at the Prison it’s not on a hunters desk. I spotted it when I was fighting the Butcher
I dont think that is the Monstrom with the snake and eyes
I’ll check something gimme a couple minutes
Well we know there is at least 1 copy at the prison
So according to the Lore who has spent a fair amount of time at the Prison? Or who would have gone there and forgotten it or lost it there?
If we have their names then we can check locations that they frequently go to. If we find books at 1 location for a hunter but not another hunter then it means that the book is tied to whatever Hunter frequents the said location
How does that sound? Worth lookin into?
@wintry panther
@late tinsel
On the case of Alison
Allison, the woman she would now meet had sought Jos out, and they had progressed from cautious silence to confessional outpourings, from wary strangers to friends, and then further. Camaraderie existed among hunters, but connection was taboo. Like children left unnamed until they survived their second birthday, hunters preferred not to name. Which is to say, preferred not to know that which they were likely to lose. To hunt, you must be able to survive both combat and constant loss.
To remove the calloused skin that protects the delicate shell of the heart was to choose life. A hunter always chooses death. Does not think of the future. In the cracks of the mirror, their images bent and multiplied: reflections, no two the same.
@idle matrix Sorry just wrapping up work. nice find, definitely interested in looking more into her as a character and seeing how she ties into the twins
So I'm reading the legendary hunters bios
and from a lore perspective, I'm guessing there's different factions of hunters
?
@rotund ferry Different gangs of hunters
@rotund ferry There are many associations with many differing chapters- even some that are hostile toward one another. Keep in mind that this is an open hunt, and all initiated hunters are welcome to enter the hunting grounds, regardless of motive (of which there are many).
@rotund ferry to name a couple you got the reverend and his Christian group, the bone doctor and his voudou group, you got the aha and the ones who supported Huff and Elwood, and some are rogue too like sheriff Hardin
Powell and his culty bois
aye aye
duck cult
whats with the rancor with the one hit kills its filthy non headshot
Might be a better question for #game-questions @proper coral
there is check the store is legendary uppercut
To be fair
In reality, if the uppercut is modeled after the walker, it was designed to kill a horse
And the most powerful handgun around until the early 1900s.
YEAH
Wait really?! It’s basically a tank in your hand?!
Nice
I'm interested in this dream catcher
Are they going to make good weapon skins from now on?
Looks like the same symvols as the machete
That being random letters bc it looks cool
Looks like there’s another reference to the eclipse on it
What does the eclipse mean?
There’s a depiction of an eclipse on the DoaH in voynich that says “Darker days are coming.”
It’s found in the eye and snakes book
So, hunters CAN become infected

...
sigh
im goin to regret asking this
but what makes you say that?
(So, hunters CAN become infected)
I worked the bolt a final time and aimed at Samson He was calm. I shouted at him, what have i done, crying pleading. He began explaining
I became a hunter again that night We did the ritual, still paddling the surface of the lake covered with so many corpses. Not more than two nights in America with nothing but an old war rifle, and I had a place again
Samson was missing I was tracking him. To an old house In the dark, one of the Armored ones charged me. I levelled my rifle and held it firm. The Armored hit and the bayonet went to the hilt. I held the rifle firm, level, steady, as it lunged and grasped at me, but not reaching Pushing It slid me across the floorboards until the Vetterli stock hit the rear wall. The Armored was still grasping at me, stuck fast on the blade.
Pinned between the wall and the armored I worked the bolt. The first shot splintered the already shattered plate. The Armored groaned and leered in closer, its tilted head gnashing up at me I recognized it then. Samson. I kept Firing
hmm
(glad yo see youre no longer trolling. this is nice)
perhaps samson spent more than an hour int he hunting grounds
People spent whole nights in the hunting grounds
read the armored entry
smart hutners think its a deathwish to spend more than an hour in deadzone
It is
That means that the only special to be a 1:1 copy of the original is the hive
Seeing as he could recognise Samson
@wintry panther you see the symbol in the Romero Hatchet? The symbol that is right where the blade meets the gun. Idk about you but that shit looks ALOT like a Norse rune
My question is the Vetterli entries afterwords: His smoke was giving him away Black powder. Mine too old guns, suited to each other Him in the upper story of an old house. i amongst the scrub and dirt and rocks. I blew out all the windows by the time I reached it. 1 fixed bayonet, went in, and the Armored Samson charged me. A to B to C to B
Does this refer to the duplicate Samson?
Do you guys need Bornheim Match mastery or u already got it?
@devout cedar if you have it you can send it to me!
Or Var
@idle matrix it could be!! It’ll be hard to see until we get the gun in game
@wintry panther Duplicate samson?
@acoustic owl yeah, I didn’t know if the armored was another replicated monster like the hive and Immolator, or if he is like the grunts and people can become armored
@wintry panther It would seem that way, thoughaybe it could be a deformed grunt with beetles, as armor, so maybe it is a grunt.
@wintry panther Maybe the mutation is caused by the ritual blood?
But it is beetles instead of exoskeleton.
would a Colt lightning be lore friendly? id like to see it added as an alternative faster firing winfield
that'd be cool
im talking about a colt lightning from the 1880's
yee
So I was thinking
It was talking about Armoreds being in certain locations and being somewhat intelligent
So I figured an armored would be a regular grunt who has grown and exoskeleton from being around a rift so often
Or it’s a grunt who is more connected to the Sculptor. Still a grunt but his connect with the sculptor has added to his intelligence and his physical feats.
It seems from the lore that the beast and characters closest to the sculptor are the strongest and smartest (ie. Lynch, assassin, spider, butcher, etc)
So I figured it might just be a person who died near a rift and the Sculptor specifically raised it to defend the Rifts
@idle matrix As much as I would like to believe it there are two things, 1.) Immo didn't die near fire, 2.) Sculptor's are portals that connect our world to their world and hunters close, so he probably long needed a capable creature to defend rifts.
New lore bois
I am not to caught up on lore so what’s a Lynch ping me
Honestly on my phone and can’t see shit with the pinned comments
@twin wagon its a bitch who goes around and kills everyone and acts all mysterious and she also brews healing syrgines and shit from dead humans
She also trained the coolest hunters
Twins
Hardin
Maybe not Reverend though
Ok thx
@wintry panther Lynch slit Huff's throat
Who was shooting?
There were Lynch and angel and snake girl there
@cold idol Lynch is human until proven otherwise
She might have extensive knowledge of the other side but that doesnt make her nonhuman
The Twins said it was “time to go home” when they were pretty much about to banish her, but who knows at this point?
@cold idol so from what I’ve gathered bad as they seem is not exactly 100% canon. Don’t forget it was written as a novel. And we are getting two contrasting stories on who killed Huff. We aren’t sure now what is real and what isn’t
@wintry panther Any lore buddy?
@acoustic owl oh ya know... Just one lore entry making everyone question if bad as they seem is a cover up
@acoustic owl Have you read the new borenheim journal I posted above?
We got new stuff to research too, and Var's right on the identity crisis we are having haha
@wintry panther I can barely read it, my phone smol
"One sec" 7 minutes later
@acoustic owl

PHILIP HUFF JONES Jackson, Louisiana. Philip HUff Jones was found murdered in his office last night, Circumstances are currently treated as suspicious. The speculation surrounding the controversies of this medical practitioner will not have escaped the attention of our reader.
Two conflicting accounts, by way of a nurse and a doctor in the employ of the asylum, who to protect their identity remain nameless, have come to the premises of this newspaper. The nurse, having been alone on duty in the East Wing at the time of the murder, had found herself at a loose end. As the reader will remember, many of the patients were in a recent calamity relieved of their residency of the asylum, and their lives. Thus, her duties predisposed her to a good view of the office, where she said she saw Huff Jones discussing matters with two women around the time of murder. Some time after, she saw the light extinguished, and assumed he had turned in for the night unusually early. The doctor’s account disagrees wholeheartedly on this matter. Occupying the office down the hall, afforded with a good view of Huff Jones comings and goings, the doctor noted no one coming or leaving his room that night. He reported hearing one gunshot, and swiftly entered the office upon hearing a heavy thud. There, he noted the room absent, but for the deceased, and a window pane smashed. Rushing into the grounds, he tells us he found a homemade marksman’s semi-automatic pistol discarded on the lawn, which he promptly turned into the sherriff. A similar pistol was used earlier this year in the inconclusive alleged assassination of historian Charles Gayarre.
Huff Jones was born November 8, 1855 near Jackson, La. Having studied medicine at Tulane University, Mr. Jones was appointed Assistant Superintendent to his father, John Welch Jones, at the Louisiana Asylum at Jackson in 1882, where he served for six years before replacing his father as Superintendent at the same institution. He is survived by his wife and four children. It is not known, at this moment, who will succeed him at the asylum.
Sorry had to type it all up
u gucci
@sinful trout Can you add this to the lore doc?
@wintry panther Strange...
@acoustic owl This is why it calls into question the Bad as They Seem where Lynch slit his throat and walked out with the other girl who was allegedly pregnant or felt the snake speak to her
I just thought of something though, if the doctor is right.... it could be Vincent Caldwell that killed Huff. Remember in Huff's letters how Vincent was still in the Asylum at the time of the assassination?
Lynch is a loa, correct?
We dont know she is a Loa
@wintry panther Vincent makes sense-ish
She might be? But for now we have to say she is human because we dont know what is truth or fiction
Gotta look more into this Charles Gayarre assassination
Idk it could be someone else, the problem is that the Nurse says that it was two people who are guilt. And the doctor says one. and one shot too. What is strange about that incident pulls out Sherlock Holmes pipe is that there are no signs of struggle of resistance
Says Gayarre died naturally? So I dont know what to assume
At his death on February 11, 1895, Gayarré was poor but well respected by his friends and colleagues as the father of Louisiana history and one of the state’s literary pioneers.
PLaces Huff's death after Feb 11th though which is key
Family Genealogy of the Seymour James Stewart and Marie Adele Therese de jaham families.
NEW ORLEANS, La., Feb 12.-Charles Gayarro, the venerable historian and literateur, died this morning at his residence aged 90 years. He was a native of this city, of noble birth and famous in this state for having introduced the culture of indigo and sugarcane, and as the first mayor of this city. He wrote the " History of Louisiana," and "The Influence of Mechanic Arts on the Destiny of the Human Race."
So Im guessing this is specific to the lore of Hunt
Yeah it’s a Huntverse thing. I found absolutely nothing helpful in his biographies.
That doctor MIGHT be Finch
Thats a good point, it might be
Also to note, we know that someone took over after Huff was killed but I think it was the Twins that killed them
So idk if Finch is now the Superintendent or not
@wintry panther Doesn't Huffs asylum have important information?
Well yeah, like they know more about what is going on than we are told
Ill try my best, lol I just imagine you being like "hold on! I need to read your forehead!"

@eternal crystal Would love if you could pin the Bornheim No.3 Match ❤
Just the name should be enough
@eternal crystal ありがとう!
I was writing something about an incident survivor's account of what happened in the bayou.
That sounds amazing! Let me double check for if you can post it here or if it fits a different channel just too be sure
@rotund ferry You can post it in #fanart
Alright thanks ^^
Let me know i wanna read it ! !
I think it would belong in fan art, since this channel is mostly pertaining to discussing the lore of the game, but it definitely sounds like an interesting project. I’d like to give it a read.
For those who don't already know. Take all the journals you read with a grain of salt. Nothing is set in stone, and that is why all the theories we have are based on conjectures and trusting certain narratives
From a dev, here is a little insight into the legitimacy of each media that we read
So is the nature of the fireproofing of the guy who made the butcher supernatural or natural
It was just how the taxidermist did his job actually. The last journal is about the fire of New Orleans and how a lot of his other projects had survived totally fine
@bold tiger
It might be the chemicals or his method, but yeah its not supernatural
I dont think the taxidermist plays any role other than in shaping the Butcher. Since he seems to be unaware of the AHA and anything in this rgard
Yeah, I was just thinking that maybe those previous projects were in some way magical cause it says completely untouched
I dont know... maybe... but from what I read there was nothing that indicated he had some special powers or interaction with the Sculptor
It doesn’t appear at all supernatural
hey ik this isnt really lore but i noticed the match is in the game now and i have both the bornhiem variants unlocked already but the match simply says i need to unlock the extended? do i need to prestige to get rid of this glitch?
A good question for #bug-reports-pc or #game-questions or #350201608296202251 @acoustic obsidian
If you do Prestige after yesterday's update,
Traits,
Only the packmule can be applied.
@edgy glen I believe that belongs over in #bug-reports-pc. This chat pertains only to lore.
Is Nagant guy member of the AHA?
So not all hunters are members of AHA
Not all, in qna i believe they said that there were many organization involved, and he is a new recruit
@cold idol
It said there are fractions inside AHA, like Night of Hunter cult, Reverend's cult, Hardin's people, Doc Jonhson People and poop
There are MANY chapters of the Association, but there are also MANY associations. This is an open hunt, and all chapters or hunters from outside the AHA are welcome to join. There are factions that have arisen from this hunt that either splintered from the AHA or joined the AHA and then started their own circles of hunters.
We’ve got folks from all over the world and people who just discovered the dark powers of the Huntverse, then we’ve got veteran hunters that are no strangers to the hunt.
There’s strong divisions between some factions, some alliances, all out war between some- but at the end of the day, they all have their own reasons to wade into the bayou and stake their claim.
As far as I can tell, the fellow initiated by Hardin’s faction was inducted though a ritual loosely based on the AHA’s, if a little unceremoniously. It even sounds like he took the AHA’s Night Oath. Either way, Hardin’s group was loosely affiliated with the AHA, but then split off afterwards.
@primal seal heard u was a bitch
@bronze ermine thats not what Joe said
@primal seal who is joe?
@bronze ermine Joe Mamma
Guys... this is lore discussions
my bad
@primal seal it all started way back when, when hunt was young. in the early days. 0.0.1 back when elgato was a bitch

Is there time travel in the lore?
I never heard anything about a delorean, I just saw hints towards it in the booklet in the menu and also written calculations throughout the map.
@ember fulcrum From the QNA: Q: Has the AHA experimented with time travel?
A: No.
The calculations and stuff are easter eggs to the Back to the Future movies
The delorean being the car from the movie, and its in a barn under a tarp
If you want to be technical
Ohhh okay. That would explain the calculations I see, but I thought I saw 20th century dates in the menu's lore book.
The delorean fits with the theme.
@ember fulcrum
That
Is modern research
The louvent book is not based in 1895
Its based further from the future by someone trying to compile it all
And figure out what happened
Wow okay, thanks man. I've been confused about that forever.
@ember fulcrum Here is the case file on it
Shows 1967
Government reopened the case to investigate. So from a lore perspective its a compilation during and after the actual incident
Same with book of monster and weapons
Gameplay wise, you are actually in the middle of 1895 hunting the monsters
Sweet
is steam offline?
oh yes sorry
( ̄^ ̄)ゞ I gotchu
Does anyone know where the image of the book map is?
@formal jewel I may be abke ti help, post in #game-questions tho.
So is there any lore about the barrels full of bugs?
is there any lore about the madman who got them into a jar?
@onyx owl bayou people trapped them there probably
Probably the same madman who puts metal cages on hellhounds
@thick stirrup Do you mean the ones we can shoot out lanterns.
Nah the helmets on the hellhounds
I feel like the metal cages are probably something that happened when the hell hounds were still good bois
I suspect wrong channel @rocky bloom
@slim hatch Sorry now deleted
No worries 😉
Lynch goes around ever lynchmass and puts hive bombs and syrgines under good boys and girls' trees
Question, does anyone know how hunters are chosen/invited by the AHA? Is there a certain characteristic that happens in an individual that alerts the AHA to dark sight sensitivity?
so
what we know so far
is there are certain people that will take note of highly skilled people
weather with gunplay
knowledge
or obediance
and they will take them "hunting" without telling them the target
this is how most people become hunters
dark sight is simply given to hunters during the initiation ritual
through a serum mixed with the blood of a demon and something else
I see. That actually answers my question perfectly, thanks!
this provides hunters with the ritual blood in their veins. allowing them to access dark sight and perform banishing rituals
no problem!
I was thinking of writing a short story about a hunter. This helps me out a lot
They also take in people who have experienced supernatural shit
ping m,e when youre done! ive done several myself
(always with a tragic end of course)
Will do!
Sheriff Hardin just straight up initiated some bums in prison.
@cold idol Yep, and killed someone cause they couldn't do it.
@wintry panther Need help with anything?
has anyone done a compilation of the lore/letters/entries you get by getting a certain amount of exp with the guns of the game?
@acoustic owl Not bad! One tip is that you switch tenses when you write. Between past and present, especially if its a journal about a previous encounter. I love that you incorporate the red clues too
First time i've tried writing a short story.
Not bad man :)) only way to get better is by writing more hoenstly
Love the asphyxiation mention too, and the whole journey.
What will help is to remember you are writing from someone else’s POV. That it’s a journal so everything happening is in past tense. And what kind of person is writing (are they smart, or desensitized to certain things, etc)z That will shape your style too and help you convey what you want
Love the writing 🙂
@wintry panther Tried to make it easy to realize it is a recruit.
@rotund ferry the louisiana event is one of many
Aye aye
it was important to the history of huntverse and thats why it was singled out
So while it happened in many places, either Louisiana was the start or just a high activity xpne?
Zone* big hands tiny phone
The Louvent is isolated to Louisiana, but there are unrelated events all over the world.
All involving demonic zombies and monsters
Doesn’t seem like it. The Louvent is unique
@rotund ferry in the QNA they say that this isn’t anything new but that this case is different from past experiences. So there might have been zombies on some scale. Take for example there are international hunters too, so they must have had prior experience.
So basically some Ashe v Evil dead shit @wintry panther
@rotund ferry Kind of, there are different entities at play other than the sculptor.
Aye aye
@rotund ferry lolol basically XD but more hush hush

@acoustic owl father is pleased. I feel it also would work in a poetry format. Ill dm you
Is FailSpawner part of lore now?
Yes
100$ is kinda small summ
Back in 1895 $100 was alot of money, what seems like a small sum today in the period that the game is in was a hell of alot of money
It’s about $2,760 in today’s money
Assuming the f.s is simply just a insert for fail spawner. Perhaps the nebraska wiley part was always intended?
It’s an awful lot of money for one outlaw that is just a “suspect”
@late tinsel He is only under suspicion of being connected to the incident but "known" to be connected to the murder of huff.
Guess an experienced guy is likely to have a lot of info on the aha
Yeah, is there any lore mentioning why there are so many Swedish/Scandinavian Hunters over in America? We have trolls and goblins here that needs to be taken care of
Just in American History there is a huge influence of German immigrants into Louisiana https://www.hnoc.org/research/german-settlers-louisiana-and-new-orleans
Same goes with Swedes, like half our country immigrated to America. But that was like farmers.. Trollhunters stayed here 😄
Think it was after the game takes place tho, like beginning of 1900 this happened
Så, jag vill ha en förklaring.
I always forget that Germany really didnt get unified like it is now until 1990
And that the German empire only came around under Otto van Bismark in 1871
@past bone The Trollhunters on the lookout for Pewdiepie
XD
@wintry panther Hahah, true. He is the most feared troll in these ere' neck of the woods
They say when he uses the N-word it can be heard from miles around
