What do you mean?
what I mean is the hunters association could operate country wide which would include the great lakes
its likely that in the game we are only seeing one branch of it in the south
We'll see in the future.
we shall see
@still sparrow what about abdullah bin abdulaziz ? what is he ?
Abdulaziz - most likely a Middle-Eastern hunter looking to obtain funds and resources for whatever faction he is working with.
what is thsis video 😃
i'm guessing a new game base off the current and i cant w8
lol
guys come on it even says in description I think
the video above is the alpha gameplay of what Hunt was supposed to be
but the concept got changed and instead of what u see above we got Hunt: Showdown
@keen thunder it’s previous iteration aka prototype
oh
It's what became Hunt Showdown
that would royally suck
is there any transcript of the lousiana event book? I really can't read the handwritten parts.
the handwritten letter in page 7 is just completely unreadable for me. 😊
thanks
It's from Slavic mythology, but still, looks great 😄
From what Iv'e read in the lore, monsters dont exist only in US so it would be great to maybe adapt creatures from different cultures in the future
Licho in it's original, not cool form was depicted as a old women with one eye that can throw curses and kidnap young girls to turn them into Licho,
But more recently people in Poland especially created this version and gave it more animalistic set of behaviors
Now it's more of a "beast in the middle of dark forest" that hunts anyone who goes to it's teritory, it;s very fast, can jump between trees as it hunts
And it looks really cool XD
Too bad they didn't put it in Witcher 😦
Witcher had enough awesome Polish beasts 😄 + the games are based on books and Sapkowski did not include it
I know, I am Polish 😉
Oh, and a fun fact, before Christians got to our beautiful country there was a church dedicated to Licho
More of a temple than a church xD
@split saddle that is Doctors writing ... you need to read more hand written stuff.. it's a great exercise for mind.
he doesn't have to...
you should (OK!)
I found this guy at davant ranch
Not really sure if it's lore related, could just be a random nitro and hunter hat.
there are more of those around the map
pretty sure just to send a message
that you're not the first one 😄
and maybe... not the last one
There are many of them around
I think it's a small element of story telling / world building
But has no significant impact to lore.
grunts with guns please
already a thing @golden kiln
i dont see them shooting anyone in da game D:
they ded
whats the deal with Jacob Ortiz Sullivan
3 possible cases
- It is Virginia
- It might be in character perspective error (For the rest of the world concept of states looks weird)
- It might be an oversight by writers...
I'm not too well versed in US Cities and States so if any US folk knowledgeable want to look into it, be my guests.
maybe its referring to a specific virgin
like the virgin mary or something of that nature
The concept of hunt as far as I can gather is interesting.
So far, as much as I can understand, the entire concept of the hunters is essentially "ones who make deals with the devil."
These sinners know they shall die, they know they will die a horrible, brutal death, to monsters that know no gods or light. And they know when they die, they will never see heaven, but only hell.
I suppose, I believe that the dark sight they have is part of their deal. Perhaps to be given the ability to hunt these monsters, and track them down, they must sacrifice their humanity.
But it also intrigued me to why these men would do this. Why risk all, their lives, their very souls, for people they never knew, for those who cannot understand or even imagine these abominations even being more then fairy tales and hushes whispers.
And that oath they take, every night before they go, only to hope they may die for their fellows and friends, and take their place in hell.
I wonder why these hunters do this, what drive it is to make them pay such a high price.
But it also makes me wonder what these upcoming tarot cards have to do with this all.
In a way, these hunters are almost like the monsters themselves. What plagues them, the hunters have taken from the hand of Beezelbub himself, they are monsters hunting monsters. Hunters hunting hunters.
It's fascinating, but perhaps I'm completely wrong, it's simply what I've gathered so far.
I'm supposed to be studying creative literacy, this should be my strong point lol
The sculptor still is a mystery to me though, or at least it's intent and such.
There is no virus
@plush trout It's the case we had with BlooD so best we can do is stay our course
Oh the good ol' blood
But u started an off-topic discussion here because u went away from what is already discovered about the lore 🤔
this isn't the hardcore lore discussion
Is there a hardcore one ?
@proper cradle Actually we long ago requested that it's View for all post for few
But yeah all our conclusions solid pieces you can find pinned here @tropic pagoda
So you can read up on what we have verified so far....
Vex did a good job and compiled a run through of verified lore and then we have snippets of talks with writers and QnA's
I want to see the thinking process of the chosen ones...
Well that's up to mods to allow that by me tagging 1cecold it's 2nd or 3rd request now lets see if something comes out of it
And right now we don't have much going on as we have chewed through everything given, i think we will have a lot of new material to work with once the books come out
Oh almighty mod, please allow a peasant like me to see the chosen ones
Im really looking forward to the books
We all are
I'll talk to maq tomorrow about it
Yes but whats the lore behind bread?
flour water and salt
please keep it on topic guys
No u cannot be added there
The channel has alwsys been there but hidden
Only available to the almighty chosen ones
You give us too much credit... we just take more systematic / academic approach to lore
And stay very focused on it
Nahhh, almighty chosen ones
👌
No.
oh ok thanks, I thought u did not want to talk to me.
I really hope that the grunts/hives/spider etc dont feel pain
Like the human being who became those creatures i mean
Being a hive seems fucking excruciating if theres any human left in there
i doubt there is tho
i think they're long gone
@sacred sable I beg to differ.
Has anyone ever recovered from a mutation/infection of a sculptors influence?
A: Yes
First QnA
So yes Hive is probably dead
Most grunts are probably also dead
But getting infected doesn't mean being gone.
@slim hatch that's very true... But i hope it was early staged, i can't imagine getting back in such state or being stuck inside a monsters mind
Still being able to see but not controll anything, being trapped inside gives me the chills
Yeah but we unfortunately don't know much about that yet
And not sure if it's by game-design or intended but most monster characters you meet in game likely have no chance of surviving recovery due to damage contained
There are a few grunts in decent enough state to potentially be recoverable without lethal outcome
All other boss types aside from maybe armoured are goners for sure
Especially meathead and hive
also we do know that at the very least
the monsters themselves feel pain
even if the person inside is gone
so ig depending on the stage of infection theres some human left
has someone made a video yet explaining the lore?
The leaches see for him. Once the leaches detect something the meat head moves into action.
Hmm....
Makes sense
Yep i can confirm it work that way but still kinda wierd
Like the leeches and the meathead have some sort of telephatic communication
Infected people lost most of the humanity inside of them.
There were some rare cases, apparently, that they recovered from the infection.
Now, how did they recover is unknown as there is no known or stated cure.
i'd be willing to bet there's a ritual for that
maybe for cases less severe than the Louisiana incident, the forces involved are much weaker
A ritual for curing from possession.
There's rituals for banishing bosses, it stands to reason there'd be something similar for such a case
There is no where stated about the cure if I am not wrong.
So I dont know how they get cured.
Bosses got a very advanced stage of infection.
Therefore they can not be cured.
right and thats the entire fucking point of my comment 😛
Idk man.
was speculation based on given lore
Idk how infected people (before they advance to a stage where it mutates them into grunts, etc) are cured. :3
Could be ritual.
Could be pills.
Could be miracle!
And it could be uh..
Taking blood from immume people to infected people, curing them in process.
Suicide is a sin. (EDIT: He removed the comment)
@minor peak Allow me to correct you a bit bosses probably can't be cured 😄
Cursed??
Cured * Sorry sleep deprivation getting to me
I didnt say bosses could be cured. :3
I think I’m going nuts I’ll see myself out 🥜
No, don't go nuts. ;c
Easter eggs in most cases are just a nod or reference or a joke
Like rubber ducks, or there is a pile of ash with boots and hat on the ground
Or the Evil Dead reference
It’s just that a nod
The ducks are evil overlords, come on it's obvious
@slim hatch
the pile of ash with a hat and boots is a django easter egg
yeah scene where he is in that cart with other slaves and its with taratino in the scene
he shoots the 2 dead guys and blows tarantino up
hence the 2 bodies with hats and the boots and hat
Yeah at the end of the film remember that one @random lava Thanks 😄
yw 😄
For those who don't know wtf we are on about
Oh... I was on about something else, no wonder I didnt realize
do you think when hunters learn the more supernatural traits, they undergo a ritual? Like the upcoming Conduit trait?
@hearty oasis We don't have any grounds to suspect those are additional rituals so I'd say it's a gameplay mechanic. Until we have any material that implies otherwise
oh good they added a lore discussion hardcore for the people too full of themselves
lol ok
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but what kind of shells are used for the shotguns in hunt?
I assume brass because of the time period but they look like yellow plastic
(could also just be me remembering incorrectly)
It's a gray area question and to be honest, I've no idea. Yellow plastic might also be paperboard which would be a more sensible material to make shells out of considering the time period
Plastic didn't exist until 1907
Yep
Paperboard
"Starting in about 1877, paper hulls started to replace brass shotgun shells. Paper hulls remained popular for nearly a century, until the late 1960s. These shotgun shells using paper hulls were nearly always roll crimped, although fold crimping also eventually became popular. The primers on these paper hull shotgun shells also changed from the pistol primers used on the early brass shotgun shells to a primer containing both the priming charge and an anvil, unlike rifle and pistol ammunition, making the shotgun shell primer taller. Card wads, made of felt and cork, as well as paperboard, were all used at various times, gradually giving way to plastic over powder wads, with card wads, and, eventually, to all plastic wads. Starting in the 1960s, plastic cases started to replace paper hulls for shotgun shells; by the 1980s, plastic cases had become almost universal."
Game is set 1885
So paper hulls / paperboard was 12 years used by that moment
@worthy onyx Hope this answers your question.
Thank you very much for the quick reply, and it did
Ironically i always guessed it's cardboard shell because to be honest I think i ever came across brass shells like once in my life?
And that was obv. in a history text-book
I think brass shells saw more use in world war 1
That’s my guess anyway
I would assume it’s easier to make sure the shells stay in good shape if they are made of a strong material
I want to know why the official (military) in america doesnt do anything and only let the AHA do the job ? Are they try to just quarantine the area or left to be forgotten
Are they dont think the infected will go beyond the swamp ?
regular military doesn’t have dark sight for one
And I doubt they’d be willing to undergo the process required for it
That’s how hunters find the bounties
And I believe it relates to how they banish the bounties to hell
I mean like maybe the military doesnt need to fight the boss but maybe at least they can clear the smaller prey and let the AHA fight the boss
Just my thought
Will provide most likely reason when done with hunt
We're all waiting with baited breath I'm sure
the government of Louisiana is covering up the incident and so the federal government might not know anything about it
Thing is we are fairly certain sculptor has passive influence over the area there is no other way he could transform and sculpt such big landmass.
So it's assumed that hunters have stronger resistance to that influence but aren't immune + They are sort of trained to hunt monsters based on the fact they know how to extract clues, how to banish etc.
But all of them are also as implied in lore texts destined to hell
- We have evidence that Dark Sight over time corrupts or wears out its wearer as evident by skin discolorations and lesions on T3 hunters all of them have some form of skin damage, discoloration etc. + One of the writers state that Dark Sight comes at a cost.
So now imagine packing up 100 of soldiers with no training etc... They would just fall victim of the sculptor's influence and add to the affected area's danger.
- 1895 is fairly religious period in history.
And texts also imply that religion is relevant within the universe same way as it was historically.
Now imagine telling 100 god fearing men "So your country wants to be destined to hell for eternity." Do you think many would be willing to make the sacrifice?
To top it off yes Dark Sight is gained by heritage or via ritual and seemingly if you've Dark Sight you're Destined to hell but that's only implied and not yet clearly confirmed.
iv been hearing alot of things about the sculptor , who the hell is he ? he sounds like a really interesting character
We have never seen or even had a glimpse of him.
We know only about him via lore texts
And it's the entity behind the Louisiana incident (The one we are playing out)
But it's not the first and not the last one.
One of the most impactful events of such nature was "The Sundering" as per what lore-writer stated but we have no information o nthat.
There was incident in England ca 13xx (Don't remember exact year)
And if i'm not msitaken there was another one about 10 +/- years before 1895
There is no pattern to escalation they incidents vary from case to case.
We also know that power distribution is uneven aka Hunters / Monsters
awsome, a creature like that would make an amazing boss
sounds really interesting, can't wait for more lore on him from the devs
thanks for the quick response
Hmn your explanation make sense it would be much trouble if more undead coming from the untrined soldier but it would be a good adition to the hunt lore and gameplay if there is an udead soldier that roam the land and carry a gun that we can take.
Because sooner or later the offical suppose to be notified right ? Cant risk the investation grow or leak beyond louisiana swamp
I stated in my guide this.
"Hunters are the people who inherited or underwent a ritual in order to obtain the Dark Sight. Proved seasoned hunters (Tier III) seem to display symptoms of deterioration as a result of dark sight usage, visible traits are burns, lesions and discoloration of skin. A common claim among Hunters is that they are destined to hell."
"The exact reasonings for hunt is unknown but it is implied through the lore texts that they are seeking the True Deck (Because it seems to tell their future) and the Salvation (Because they are destined to hell)."
And finally regarding the outbreak as stated in bits of lore texts.
"It is implied in some lore texts the fact that the people of the Lousiana Swamps enjoyed a normal lifestyle who worked in farms with the help of animals as evidenced from the presence of chickens in cages, the number of cornfields, etc. All these were soon to be changed when the demon infestation broke in, transforming most of the residents into grotesque monsters who attacked whoever did not transform, including the animals hence the presence of several dead horses and a few of wounded horses who are whining in pain to approaching Hunters.
In the initial outbreak, in the first reported cases the infected people were isolated and guarded by residents who were armed with crude weapons (torches, cleaver, etc). They were examined by Doctor Reed who believed that they should have headlocks attached on their heads as evidenced by a large number of Grunts who have headlocks on their heads. This experiment failed as even the armed residents were infected and transformed, hence the number of Grunts armed with cleavers and torches in their hands. Infected people slowly lost their feelings, thoughts or any other form of humanity left in them as moths were filling in their bodies and consumed most part of their brains.
Response to this widespread outbreak in the swamps was catastrophic as even some residents armed themselves with firearms to fight back, an effort that quickly turned out to be futile as they were killed by rampaging monsters. Soon after, those incidents got isolated and covered up to prevent widespread panic and attention to the authorities, eventually sending out Hunters to kill and extract the bounty of the bosses by any means."
Ofc, some of the parts could be wrong.
@main fable
So, why the army cant be sent or sort of, its likely because nobody knows this incident.
As it is isolated and covered up.
Only hunters know.
And they swore an oath that they shall not leak what is happening - somewhere in those lines.
Orthewise they may face execution as they are under watchful eye of their association, AHA.
No wonder army or other officials doesnt know about this but yeah thanks for the explanation, this clear some question that i have
Is it confirmed that the moth is thr carrier of the epidemic ?
And can you tell me what type of bug that spawn from hive
Moths, bees something like that
Aspect of sculptor seem to be mothe
But i think hive is bes
Bees*
would be cool if tier 3 hunters looked different in dark sight
Not like a white shirt could hold e and see a glowing tier 3
But maybe they just look oddly shaped or something
You can't see a T3 that well in dark sight
Even worse then normal sight
Oh wait you weren't saying that nevermind lol
If you look at the hive bomb it says wasps
The hive bomb was originally named as Wasp Grenade or sort of.
Thanks for the info.
So it's wasps then...
Another deviation from the pattern but actually
=.=
No it isn't it's just me being DERP
😊
Easter Egg is an Easter Egg it's not lore... Easter Egg is out of World Reference a joke.... Same as Rubber Ducks they have no LORE value they are an out of world element a joke by the developer.
Hence Easter Eggs are meaningless to us here as I've yet to see Easter Egg be a lore piece.
_>
I dont understand.
the sam fuck did I just read?
Just ignore him. Easter eggs are just a nod or reference.
As for the outbreak or the hunters..
@rotund ferry as entertaining as you are, your speaking nonsense. But if you want to know why there is a lore hard core, then its because we decided we wanted are 'lore' with less 'trol'. So lore hard core. If you think that is exclusive... Well, that is probably because it is. For good reason.

Those lore stuff are also mentioned in my guide.
I really hope more lore stuff will be released.
@slim hatch I don't see the fact that the Hive's are home to supernatural wasps, while the general concensus is that the green moths seemed tied to the sculptors being a deviation from the pattern. Between the hives and the paper nest-like husk of the armored there is some continuity to the wasp theme. While at the same time using the moths as agents of the sculptor instead of the in game wasp style theme fits in well with what is presented both in game and likely in future lore. If the wasps were both used as the attack method of the hives and the hive bombs as well as being the method the sculptors used to eventually mold their abominations than anyone who looked at the lore with more than a passing glance would be scratching their heads as to why when a hunter gets poisoned by the hive he doesn't fall under the sculptor's influence.
I will make a Hive guide soon and I need to think something solid to describe them.
I mean.. only women, seemingly are becoming hives.
Their chest explodes as the.. "thing" emerges.
Does anyone know what's that "thing"??
The "thing" is the nest where the wasps live.
I may hold off for a little bit on confirming in your guide that only women become hives. In the roadmap they are adding female grunts. I would think they may possibly add male hives at some point.
Perhaps we can nudge in the Q and A channel a little bit and see if they are thinking about male hives.
I bet if we do see male hives they will have a different functionality or behavior
Kind of like how bees and insects actually work
maybe the hive is also like their queen
if there were a male hive I’d be fine with him just being coated in bees and maybe protect hives and be really aggressive
You know that's a really good point that I never thought of before. Maybe the person that makes up the hive becomes the queen. After all the wasps don't attack until she sees or hears you, so it makes sense that she is "controlling" them. That's a really good rationale for all the hives being females. They are literally the queen bee.
I just always kind of assumed the sculptor made them more of a mobile vessel. Like a walking tree that a nest is attached to. I like the theory that women can turn into the hive queen much better.
I dont even know if there is any humanity left in hives.
They seem to moan in pain and scream when they see a Hunter.
I don't think there is any humanity left in any of the AI. It makes a lot of sense that the hive itself acts as the queen though, since a headshot eliminated the threat by killing the queen. If it was just a vessel as I originally thought a heatshot wouldn't do anything since it would be like hitting the tree the nest was located on.
the only ones that would even barely have humanity left would be grunts
They make the most human-like sounds
But even they are probably soulless at this point
Hives, moths wasps read lore texts it’s one of the basics you can find an answer for. I just got up to this shitstorm....
Go read lore and stop poking me when it’s unnecessary
killer it’s not like you were named as the poker
🤔
essence was just saying to the chat as a whole
Yep i mean when there are legit questions.
Sure go nuts
But fuck sake
The question about Moths, Bees and Wasps
Was like if you read any of the major Lore Texts
You would know what it is based on.
In-case you're too lazy to do that.
There are pinned posts
And one of them does cover it and confirm it. If you're too lazy to read lore texts and use your brain to connect the dots.
Just take what is marked as verified information.
And memorize it.
the spider is dr reed?
Not confirmed, no.
Grunts are very weak. Armoreds are strong due to their armor plates.
But Hive is seemingly stronger than Grunt.
I guess their strength have been increased due to the wasp thingy they got on?
Most insect hives are made of paper substances
Like a weaker version of the armored’s cocoon
Which would make sense for her to be more resilient in comparison to grunts
I see, I see.
So from what I understand.. "a person possessed by some kind of insect spirit eventually turning the body into a hive itself."
I guess out of sudden the nest exploded inside the person's chest and left the upper body hanging to the left side?
Nope
Read notes of Dr.Reed
And about armored armouring god search like half a year back when we discussed that?
Cant find insect or armor in Dr. Reed. Let me find something else.
Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person PvP bounty hunting game with heavy PvE elements. Set in the darkest corners of the world, Hunt packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format.
I keep forgetting moths is in fact an insect. 🙄
how'd they get the dang wasps in the dang jar. Now thats some lore I wanna know about
I asked, waiting for answer by the dev. It will take some time.
Slap the hives with a mason jar and clap the lid on there like you’re trying to prevent spilling a glass of sweet tea
Yeah, I wasn't asking a question. You seemed in one of your previous posts like you felt there was a discrepency in the fact the sculptors spread their influence through the moths, but the hives carry wasps. I was just pointing out that it does make sense for the two seperate insects in the lore as otherwise hunters that are poisoned by the hive should be suseptable to fall under the sculptors influence. I don't know if it would have qualified as a "shitstorm" and none of it was a question. I tagged you to include you in the conversation when you got on again. I'll be sure not to do that again.
Ow no don't mind me.
Just heat getting to my head and frustration that people don't read pinned posts and lore texts.
So apologies for that
Essence are you some sort of head of the lore in here or what ?
Well it just so happened that i was first one to start actually piecing together lore with @river rain long ago
So i’m just trying to keep us focused and clear headed when figuring shit out. So called more academic and scientific approach rather than wild speculations and fan-fic
Before me and Apa it was basically people posting the historical era weapons talking about how much they went to see x or y gun
Do i hold any form or power or authority absolutely not, do i’ve trust and good track-record when it comes to getting us answers, results and viable options? Absolutely
@main fable Does that answer your question?
Yep thats answer my question and thanks for the explanation. Its just bugging me that you seems contribute alot in here but have no title except hard core lore
Because I’m just a player who is also a sucker for actually knowing the lore of universes that interest me. And frankly put wouldn’t want any true power either. Only headache with that. If people trust me enough to listen to me i say i’m doing s good job 😊
Well indeed you doing pretty good job so far, no complains tho man
This is lore discussion section, my friend. @worthy onyx
Coming from someone who knows absolutely nothing about the lore and just happened to click on this channel in close enough time to the question being asked, I was under the impression they were humans who attempted to harness the dark forces that brought these and similar creatures forward, and in turn paid the price of becoming demonic entities themselves. Whether it was intentional on their part or not, I have no idea.
I am not sure if Spider or Butcher especially got any lore texts, most stuff are up to speculation.
Such as if Dr. Reed actually became the Spider.
I could understand that. In short, I believe they were regular folks who turned into these things, but probably not through infection.
Could be that.
@compact pasture Entity behind this incident is referred to as Sculptor, read pinned posts for a start
Sick. Like I said, no prior info about the lore. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
No worries feel free to ask if you've questions or want to dig deeper
Obv. I'd recommend reading all the texts supplied by CryTEK
And you can see some hints in game as well
And this is lore discussion.
@full finch Take it to #feedback-discussion wrong channel
where can i read the lore?
Pinned posts and lore texts
You can observe lore hardcore when we disassemble new lore material
how were the bosses made, and all the enimes?
We got some speculation on how the bosses were made and the rest were most likely infected
If you wanna learn about the process you can read this lore piece
Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person PvP bounty hunting game with heavy PvE elements. Set in the darkest corners of the world, Hunt packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format.
Poofs in a ball of flame Did someone summon me?
Probably Dr. Reed.
Gasps Noooooooo
I was reading Caldwell's letter in the library, and he refers to sending a 'prototype' to LA. Was this the Chain pistol and the Uppercut? And is there more lore on this?
@main fable Well best guess would be Dr.Reed
But photography not that common in 1985 so I believe it's artistic out of character piece
Or rather visual of Dr.Reed
Or Sculptor
Same way as other pieces like the bottle etc.
Is the scene perspective
Best guess most viable one
hmm i wish i know how to make the image a lil bit clear
i almost can see the whole face
So I want ot get into this games lore, and perhaps even into the period of history of the US it is based upon, where should I start? With the pins? The documents linked in-game?
Is there a place we can read the lore and events leading to Hunt Showdown in an essay format? 😄
- The railroads had brought an end to the cowboy era by this point so the West was a lot more tame than it would have been 10 years prior, although some of the legendary outlaws and lawmen were certainly still alive and in there prime by the time the game took place. Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, and Alaska were not states yet and were still territories looked after by the Federal Government. Hawaii was still an independent kingdom. The Plessey v. Fergeson ruling in the supreme court was still a year out, but although freemen most African Americans were second class citizens and while protected by federal law under the 14th and 15th amendments for equal rights Jim Crow laws did much to circumvent that. The United States was still considered a second rate power by this time frame (The Spanish American War which placed the U.S. solidly as a world power is still three years away) so assuming there are other chapters of the Hunters Association around the World it's likely the ruling body, or at least the definitive chapter the others look towards would be in Great Britain.
That should get you started as to the shape of the U.S. around the time of the game Varalorne. If you're curious about anything else feel free to ask or run a search. McKinley will be president within a year (the last Civil War veteran to hold that title, Grant and Hayes being the two others), but at the time to take place Grover Cleveland is president.
AHA is Independent from other Hunter Association that is already verified.
Probably inspired by British one but so far we have basis only for German and Russian one based on the equipment and letters of Louisiana events
What about the letter from the Turk? Could we assume there is a similar organization within the Ottoman Empire?
Quite possible unfortunately we don't know which countries exactly have one but we do know that AHA isn't a sub-branch
So probably those are similar organizations interacting with eachother but have no authority over eachother.
That makes sense.
I wonder if there is a convention between organizations similar to how Naturalists from different coountries would come together to share findings, theories, and ideas.
Probably it’s similar to business and religious groups. But we don’t know for certain
Anyway i’m off to bed so you guys have to dig through texts and pinned posts
I’ve found a piece that might give us a new lead but awaiting verification before we put it on the table
Theres a german organization of holy warriors as well, right?
Lions shield or something
They use military rank and stuff which is cool
I have 3 hunters with Swedish names now.. Recruiting worldwide? 😛
Send us to Scandinavia for the next map, hunt trolls and dark elves
Maybe rather than world wide recruiting it simply shows basic cooperation between different associations. I would imagine these infections, outbreaks, huantings (?) are rather rare and therefore a situation like the one in the Louisiana bayou would be enough to draw hunters from multiple associations the world over. Interesting would be how your "bloodline
" fits into it all.
Do you guys think, in times where there aren't any catachlismic events going on in the world of H:S, that, while some hunters might have had a cover job when they weren't being illuminate heroes. But maybe and likely there are enough small events that a few hundred or thousand hunters across the globe are constantly employed in general
Sure, if the upcoming map is somewhere else on the globe it would make sense I guess. But hiring people from all over the world to come to America to help fight demons seems "far-fetched" to me still. Hope they cram the maps with lore that you can read, discover etc. When looting is in the game, I can die happy.
Lore is coming, Our next big lore update are 2 books
I think in 3rd column in Roadmap
And yes it's people traveling like anyone else... They aren't recruiting globally considering there are many other organizations like AHA
Game is simply set in America and as such AHA is the main-focus organization.
- It's time period of heavy Immigration to the west + You know a bit of 21st century politics
Maybe they are just immigrants that came to the us and ended up as hunters
Everyone is an immigrant in the us so I would assume in 1895 people still stuck with the names of their origin more than they do know.
Yep
I think on this topic you will get your answer by looking at History of immigration and also take into account the political and social trends
Why would that be far fetched that theyre hiring people all around the world?
If you read the lore book the germans and middle easterners travelling from abroad are incentivized with more than money.
Like
Im assuming that an occult catastrophe of this scale doesnt occur like every other day around the world, so of course international supernatural groups would want to come to the US for their groups interests as well as the money
Exactly
They might as well easily be members of another group.
Then there is the guy who wants to hunt men he said he wanted to become lawman or bounty hunter but criminals are too dumb he wants to hunt a worthy opponent.
That guy is just there to kill other people that could put up a fight
Yeah hes not even in an occult group
So everyone has their own reasons for it
But we have no grounds to say AHA is openly recruiting
That dudes pretty badass
Globally
That would also probably dent their relationship with other organizations
Which we know exist.
Yeah
So that's why i'm very careful with words I use not to give people false thoughts / ideas
@slim hatch @cold badger Oh yeah, totally forgot about that! Like half of Swedens population emigrated to The States. For some reason mine went to Canada haha but still. The Swedish names makes sense all of a sudden (except their appearance sometimes hehe) Thanks! 😃 Im getting more and more immersed when everything is put in context! ❤ Oh yeah i've read all the books, Sweden is located in Scandinavia tho and not middle eastern europe noir Germany :P
Why it seemed far fetched for me that some Swedish farmers/factory workers would travel to America to be Hunters? It just is far fetched seeing most of them had big families and enough problems of their own. If they were convicted criminals with the option to go there and help out or be chain-pistol-whipped in the face.
(For example, if they had the same name as member of the infamous"Tjuvligan" a criminal gang who roamed Stockholm's streetsc stealing and robbing from mid 1800's to exactly 1895 when 41 of them got convicted. Actually one at least I know went to the states right after the 2 year prison sentence... But other than that, I see no legit reason for a Swedish working class-guy, during this period, to risk his life in another country then our neighbouring ones. And the small groups of military men would deff not be allowed to ditch their duty to help out a country that far away, esp like USA at that time. Maybe im overthinking... Just so damn cool that you have Swedes included! Hope we get some more lore regarding this :D
But to make things clear, this game will allways take place in USA? I mean if this happens there, it could've happened strange things all over the world?
Oh well, thanks for the context guys! Big up!
@past bone Don't forget the influence of modern trends on Development
Until we have any grounds to claim there is a particular reason other than History, Modern Trends (Multiculturalism n' shit), Just because why not...
I think that's the best we can say.
They do it, why no idea we don't know maybe it's just 21st century influence because don't recall lore mentioning global open recruitment.
It could be because this incident is different from others, thay are gathering reinforcement. I imagine thay dont WANT to do it, but if you need more men... You get more men... Make it happen. If i had to guess i would say that the AHA went to the other AHA-like organizations and offered to higher there hunters for a good price. Or a good reward... Such as cards of the true deck. "You want us to help solve your problem? What do WE get out of it... Money and... cards of the true deck!? Absolutely." I also think the hunters are in it more for the hunt and less for 'my association is better than your association'. I mean... The events i don't think are common... If you were a hunter in the AHA and a hunt was happening in France and the last event had been 10 years ago and you had just been sitting around waiting all this time wouldn't you want to go? Or do you rely feel like "its a hunt... Buuuuut its not in America so forget it."
@river rain Are you adressing me? I don't care where it takes place, I do think it would be cool and fun tho if you could hunt in other countries/ that has other folklore, if it goes along with the lore of the game.. As long as they keep adding new stuff i'll never stop playing this.
Hahah, are you sober fam? When did I ever mention anything about my feelings about hunting on American grounds? I was >asking< if it allways will take place in America? U seem mad bruv 😄 But you're asking what I would do IRL? No, I wouldn't say no just because it's America, I would say no because it's not worth it. You get 1500$ per toe or finger of a Swedish forest-troll when you kill one, so I would stay in Sweden since they pay me more and. Oh man why am I answering, so stupid >.< im tired aiit.
So to answer your question, no, I do not reeely feel like dat because it's a game we're talking about 😄 And who "sits around waiting" for 10 years because they wanna go back to killing zombies and demonspawn? Would you or what?
Wouldn't wait that long for anything to be honest. I bet at least the Swedish hunters have nice families they wanna spend time with instead of.. But lets say I really am a "hunter", brought to America from Sweden. For whatever reason it could be except the historically correct one about we Swedes emigrated
@slim hatch Word! I beg that they don't give in to the whole "PC-culture" and start adding stuff that clearly is just there because of todays society. Is it only me or is the major part of all grunts black with broken farmer-like clothes? I've noticed it and thought it was cool if they were supposed to be slaves.
Yeah we have discussed it.
But he was merely 1st of many non-decayed corpses that came into the game.
He still looks oddly in good shape compared to others but for now i think it might of been red-herring

Refer to my post 19/05/18
Any more corpses out there as of yet?
Plenty
They also added some RNG to their spawn
Creamtorium is one of the biggest RNG fests
There is also Alice Farm corpses
And then there is a tree guy one.... Nera Cyprus where Armored in the forest and Ammo box spawns
wtf does lore mean somebody teach me
I'm actually suprised this game has a community actively discussing lore, which is what I'm passionate about.
Also @spark berry
Lore is the games Universe/setting/story
How recently did the sculptor attack when the hunters came
Was it a couple of days? A week?
my guess is a couple days because there are wounded horses that have not died of dehydration, burning lamps still have oil, and fires on buildings and hay piles are still active. BUT that could all just be game mechanic stuff. @primal yarrow
I do not know the cannon time for when the sculptor attached to the time the hunters showed up.
Yeah we don't know that unfortunately.
I just want a deeper look to the lore
Then pinned posts is your starting point
Ummmm at the moment we do not know enough about the background lore to see if this would be a clash or not
Does the Dark Sight potentially not just give them the ability to track the monsters but also absorb a bit of their power or just a bit of the power of things they kill which allows them to evolve, making them tougher, faster, more dexterous ect. Which we see in the form of perks ?
We don't have any grounds for it atm @timber rock Unfortunately
@hallow forge Greetings welcome to the lore channel we have no indication that lore as such forbids Hunters to join arms during Hunt so you will have to wait until we have more lore to give you an answer on it.
I wonder if the DSB and the lightning have anything to do with what they do with the bounty afterwards
Maybe to power up their secret cult doom machine
/s
I mean your powers to see in the dank arent necessarily good
So they might be being used for something bad
Supposedly Dark Sight
Is one of the more basic abilities
And even that takes a huge toll on the hunter
As indicated by Lore writer in the QnA
Refer to pinned post
Oop

@hallow forge Unfortunately we don't have any lore that indicates camping as favourite pass time of the hunters so can't confirm or deny

isnt the lore simply just Teddy Roosevelt saying "shoot dem demons"

But actually, you can read in-game books and pinned stuff in this channel. There's not too much but there's some actual lore to this game @rotund ferry
I did saw actually
basically it was the pres noticing some changes with caniballistic people and worms coming out of the ground
nah teddy roosevelt wasn't president yet
Would be like ben Harrison
Or McKinnly
Wrong on both counts
Shows my knowledge on us history lol
Its Grover Cleveland
where can I read this lore thing
or where should i start this is pretty interesting to say the least
I see a lot of new people here I'm pleasantly aroused.
I would like to know as much as possible as far as lore goes for the game and see if I can help out.
@vagrant glacier For Hunters..
"Hunters are the people who inherited or underwent a ritual in order to obtain the Dark Sight. Proved seasoned hunters (Tier III) seem to display symptoms of deterioration as a result of dark sight usage, visible traits are burns, lesions and discoloration of skin. A common claim among Hunters is that they are destined to hell.
The exact reasonings for hunt is unknown but it is implied through the lore texts that they are seeking the True Deck (Because it seems to tell their future) and the Salvation (Because they are destined to hell)."
This is taken from my own guide.
Most of what is mentioned is based from lore texts.
Its pinned btw.
For Monsters...
Infected people slowly lost their feelings, thoughts or any other form of humanity left in them.
Thank you. This really helps
So how was the outbreak spread? Was it kind of like a plague through the air or was it the more stereotypical "If they bite you or scratch you you are infected" type of thing?
Also, what triggered the demon infestation in the first place?
We don't know yet.
We don't know what starts incidents but we know they are reoccurring and at least in this one main culprit is an entity referred to as Sculptor
Ahhhh gotcha. I heard that name while reading through the pinned messages. Didn't quite understand it till now.
Do you think that "The Sculptor" works by himself or is possibly part of a group of....things I guess you could say. If this is demonic in nature it would make sense to assume that Sculptor is a demon of some sort
He could also be a human particularly skilled at summoning demons
It would make sense. In order for demons to run around and cause trouble they need someone who can summon them and such
Wrong chat mate
hm
This is Lore chat. Game chat is hunting grounds
ok
Why not just make all the teams on the map allies then? Nothing would stand a chance
@vagrant glacier nothing says a demon needs someone to summon them in order to cause trouble. And I am very confident that the sculptor is not a human. The AHA seems very well resourced and competent. If it was simply a human, i don't think it would be such a problem. Find him, kill him, clean up the pets. That and some of the entrys in the Louisiana events books i believe point to the sculptor as an entity and not a person.
Can someone explain to me what clues are supposed to be? In terms of in game lore. You're blessed/cursed with the ability to see them from a distance. Are they something that the boss left behind?
are all the guns in the game based on actual guns or are some fictional
also im assuming that since clues are basically holes covered by brittle glass then they literally allow you to glimpse into another dimension but how do the clues appear where they appear id be interested in knowing that as well
All the guns have historical basis
The automat is based on the huot automatic rifle
For the most part, yeah. Most of the guns are real to an extent, the only issue with some guns being considered anachronistic to the time period unless the game takes place in 1902 (Browning Auto 5 was made during then)
And while the Automat is based on the Huot, it is however ingame an automatic mosin nagant, which hasn't been done. So it's semi-realistic.
Also noted that certain guns aren't near-replicas such as the Caldwell Conversion Pistol. Which has traits from many firearms, such as the Octagonal barrel from the Colt 1851 Navy Conversion, and the loading gate similar to the SAA.
guess thats just how the caldwell company did things
A lot pseudo realistic weapons in hunt
So I've been wondering; is the bloodline feature a part of the lore or purely just a levelling mechanic? Wouldn't it be cool if DS was handed down the family trees?
Maybe the ritual to gain it could be something like a joining into a family, a bloodline, if you will
Dunno these are just headcanons mostly
That would be super cool if DS was acquired through ritual
Nanatsu no Taizai-style demon blood-drinking 🤔
is that an anime?
I would like to think bloodline is your hunting family/organization's reputation
Oh damn organization is a pretty good term
How about initiation into a family being the DS-getting ritual
What role would that put us, the one hiring the hunters, in, though
Woah how about
A government official hiring Hunters
Since we've got all the info in the books
Like the headlines and reports 'n stuff
i think by the way the hunter seem to be in lore bits we know
that they are very lose based bunch
with very little central oversight
because one the snippets in the lore paint one of the hunters as just being someone who gets off on hunting other people
but he must have the dark vision though
so i am guessing maybe other hunters can give other hunters the dark vision and as long as they are decent with a gun and willing to go into these little hell holes the American hunters Association doesnt really care
or maybe only the assocaition can give you the dark sight but as long as you are willing to kill monsters they dont care about yout charcter
so i think Association is a good term cuz they are more like Associates than a proper organisation
@river rain that's a fair point but at the same time you have to consider that, if we are going off of regular demon shenanigans based off of Christianity, then someone needs to give them permission to assault the Earth.
Has anyone ever figured out what the Gramaphone is singing when you play certain ones scattered around the map?
I only have a very minimal knowledge of other languages apart from English and it doesn't help that it's Opera music.
My mistake
So for now Sculptor is leaning towards being a demon rather then a human.
I don't mean to sound like an idiot but what's the difference?
Inb4 they're all cosplayers
@vagrant glacier Difference is Demon refer to a specific type of mythological creatures entity is creature of unknown origin, type, nature
Demons have common weaknesses and traits entities don’t as they don’t fit any of the categories
And it was stated that it’s more of a two world colliding not a classical “some goth killed a virgin goat fucked up ritual and demon is roaming free”
So you could say Devil is in the details? Pun intended
So I did a little digging on the origins on the Tier 3 hunter variant which gives the impression of being a Union/Confederate Cavalry unit.
Now, what really gets me though is that I can't give a definitive answer on if it's a confederate or union uniform since it's too dark for me to distinguish if it's Blue or Grey.
Also searching for Union/Confederate Cavalry hat presents the same results of the Black hat with the lapel of the crossed sabres.
🤔
Also if you're playing as this guy and you're not using the Cavalry sabre. Smh.
It is evidented that Tiers 3 are kind of veterans.
That or some schmoe from the AHA repurposed the uniform for how much utility it has?
@minor peak There is a T2 variant as well that wears the clothing of a civil war veteran. I don't have one in my stable right now so I can't be specific, but I believe he has on corporal chevrons. The uniform isn't as dirty so it should be able to make out the side, but although I think it's grey my usual partner swears it's blue.
Oh yeah.
With it looking like hunters from other associations from around the world are coming to Louisiana for the hunt it would be cool to see some of them have uniform pieces from other countries veterens as well. A few well known contenders that would likely include veterans from nationalities we see in hunt could be the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871), Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878), Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878-1880), Anglo-Zulu War (1879-1879), and the First Boer War (1880-1881).
I love this
I love you 😌

@river aurora the grammophone plays "After The Ball"
actually it is only the refrain
After the ball is over,
After the break of morn –
After the dancers' leaving;
After the stars are gone;
Many a heart is aching,
If you could read them all;
Many the hopes that have vanished,
After the ball.
@river aurora Question. Did you by chance take a look at the insignia on the front of the hat? I swear I've seen that on Union soldiers before but not on the Confederate uniforms.
I would guess Union as it seemed while reading the lore book in hunt that the hunters are more like operating in the north like in Chicago and New York and are now comming to the south to hunt.
And it seems more blueish to me in game.
@vagrant glacier the insignia can be found on both, north and south hats
@graceful rose After this ... I will ask for a valtzer to my mate next time we play this music in game, hopefully he\she will be open minded to accept the joke for a few seconds. (yeah seriously)
😄
@graceful rose ahhh gotcha.
@vagrant glacier Yeah, Horsedancingwithcrow is correct. That symbol was on both Union and Confederate hats. Crossed sabers marks the wearer as cavalry.
@regal ingot While it’s a nice piece of world building ultimately i think it will be covered in the wider hunter appearance variation.
Introducing more different equipment will only allow us to verify that indeed other associations are aware of incident and indeed hunters are pulling for it from across the world.
So yeah 😐 not much one can get out of the lore by looking at the outfits
Other than confirming that the game is taking part indeed in 1890’s.
Which we already know
Are the monsters even from hell, because they look to be humanoid and even resemble humans in terms of sound.
@slim hatch
But does the game actually take place in the 1890's or not? Because the latest gun in Hunt Showdown in the Browning Auto-5 which was made in 1902.
So either some guns are made before said time period for the purpose of gun variation or the game takes place in 1902? Which is it, I personally don't know.
Not here to argue over it, but genuinely something that has been keeping me up at night, no joke.
Game takes place in 1895
Thats confirmed
Devs took liberty and adjusted the weapon releases
Dolch is prototype i assume CK is too
browning auto5 was made 1898
game takes place in 1895
The Browning Automatic 5, most often Auto-5 or simply A-5, is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by John Browning. It was the first successful semi-automatic shotgun design, and remained in production until 1998. The name of the shotgun designates that it is an...
well designed anyway
Could be a prototype
I mean, guns dont really have to be made in 1895 or before that.
It can be guns made in 1900 or even 1910.
Cei Rigotti for example.
yeah the tech is slightly bumped up
which is why electricity is already so widespread
@kindred kettle Most of the monsters are not from Hell. From what has been revealed through the journals and lore snippets an entity called a sculptor has taken hold in this community. It's not the first time it has happened, but this one seems special in the sense that it can influence/infect/sculpt more than one person. It's influence may or may not be spread through a form of moth and there is definately an insect theme going on. Grunts were at one time human, but now obviously are something that resembles what we would most associate as zombies (I wouldn't call them that though, just a reference). Armored were also humans, possibly grunts that have continued to evolve. Their armor is very much like a wasp nest and when you knife off their leg armor you can clearly see bony human feet and legs underneath. Hives seem to have become a nest for these supernatural wasps and based on how they attack when the hive sees you and they all die off when you kill her I would sepeculate she acts as the hives queen as well. Meatheads are bloated humans infested with leaches and I would argue that the Butcher is a further evolution of the meathead. The spider of course has a diesfigured human head and in the original artwork the spiders legs were abcenely bent human legs. The only thing that doesn't fit is the Hell Hounds. Since no other animals are changed or infected currently, to included the penned dogs, I would argue that the Hell Hounds are exactly what their namesake suggests, hounds from Hell. This makes some sense in that they are by far the most intelligent AI in the game.
The infection/influence seems to take some time to take hold to full transformation. Their is a diary about a doctor treating the sick. Speculation is the iron masks on some grunts were placed there to keep them from biting their caregivers. One deseaced being dissected there was found nothing but moths inside his body cavity. So short answer, yes. Most of the monsters in Hunt were once human.
I would love (and I'm sure he will be) if the Sculptor was a boss someeday.
What you guys think about putting a skinwalker/wendigo like boss that stalk and hunt other players in the match?
Or using the concept that @regal ingot said, why not something like a 'moth man' kind of stalking creature that you can hear the howl from miles away.
@regal ingot ayyyy that's a pretty good summary.
@topaz roost that would be a neat idea but I could also see some problems. If there is just one on the map then would it be kind of like a mini-boss or something?
@vagrant glacier Yes, he could be a mini boss, and it would be interesting if he were a blind creature, who is drawn entirely by sound, even by movement, even crouched.
And if you're not blind, at least have a bad view and that might or may not appear randomly somewhere on the map.
*if it were not
It would be interesting if he were prowling around the map, and attracted by loud sounds like grenades and dynamites, maybe that would leave players thinking well before using these items.
Something like this, running at you full speed screaming would be terrifying.
I originally was against the Wendigo because I felt it didn't fit the lore, but after consideration and looking up various depictions of it my basic understanding is that it was originally a human that no matter how much it ate it could never satisfy its hunger, always feeding and yet always starving. I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to imagine that a scultor created something similar at one time that became embedded in Native American folklore.
Well, someone has to "defend" the sculptor's creations, why not something like that?
Because currently the only real problem of hunters, are other hunters ..
Maybe some parameters for the appearance of this type thing would be interesting.
On servers with many tier 3 players for example.
In terms of lore, I think it would be quiet enough to fit a skinwalker or wendigo into Hunt.
*quite
not that freaky looking, too much goat
too much pan / baphomet inspiration
they should keep to the silent hill type of theme with their monster designs
I think a wendigo would be a good target boss
would make great use of decoys if it is attracted by sound
the real question is, would wendigos exist
we know that most of the monsters are humanoid, and are definitely human based due to their physique and features. however a wendigo is born from the act of cannibalism
it may be that a wendigo could diagetically exist in the universe of hunt, unless it follows basic wendigo rules like "cannibalism = wendigo"
No lore texts about Wendigos.
^
Indeed we have no info on Wendigos.
We could argue in favor of Witches based on Gilded Age but we don't even know if Gilded Age lore has any place in Showdown lore.
As we don't have any confirmation or info that would tie the scrapped project to current one
Well we know they use nicknames for monsters, like Armored and Grunts even though that probably isnt what they're scientifically classified as. There might be a monster that resembles a wendigo in movement and attack called a wendigo?
Armored because the guy got grown armor plates around.
Grunts because they are brainless fools.
Hmmm. If it's based on cannibalism then couldn't one of the wheezers (infected wandering around the map) make a good lore excuse. Maybe one wasn't quite dead yet but had the urge to eat.
Anybody read the trials of doctor Reed? I've been thinking about it wondering if he's "the butcher" only because when you kill the butcher and banish him he starts swarming with moths and it mentions that Reed occasionally coughed up moths, and sketched some leech blood (and we all know the butcher is basically one big meathead)
And has anyone found where he and the 13 other survivors held out? I've counted mattresses but I have no idea how many slept on one mattress. I know there was a couple of children so I've looked for an abundance of mattresses with dolls nearby
Steamy Cards out, lot of lore talks out there also checking back to blogs of months and months away.
My closest guess was still water bend
@sinful trout We have an assumption that he is probably Spider but it's an unverified one.
In the end He was chopping own limbs off and theoretically he had enough spare parts to stitch them to himself and with help of sculptor survive and transform
Butcher is a single bloated corpse Spider isn't at least by the looks of it
But it's an unverified common theory we have in Hardcore
Yea, I think the card contain somekind of lore @rotund ferry , this is what I have:
Roots of Darkness
"...and I've found it was impossible to go back. We had to burn the roots."
Bone Decoration
"He was just lying there in a morbid silence, showing us the way."
"...then I knew she would rise. These walking hives we had to kill twice."
"I was too late. There was no trace of Dr. Winkler or Father Nico."
@mellow jetty @old vessel Listed it all in #lore-discussion-hardcore along with images Feel free to use it as a reference
Awesome! Thanks @slim hatch
@slim hatch I don't have acess to #lore-discussion-hardcore
The gates from your picture has nothing to do with a lore. However, there are gates between our world and other world. You have two types - stable and unstable gates.
Wait then what gates is it referring to?
Game mehanic
@mellow jetty Because the gates you're now talking about by writers were referred to as portals.
I would assume
That's the thing
It's an unusual term for Game mechanic
That's why it's under question
As for the Dark Sight, there are multiple times devs said: "Welcome to the second circle". In the AHA there's the concept of circles. When you become a member you are the 1st circle. That means you're nothing and you can't use DS. You can only become a hunter when you are in the second circle.
Well there are also circles of hell
I'd need something more solid to go off from
Like a lore text
Or Writer's QnA
Like we did before
It is possible that the djinn mentioned in the last qna is what Reed turned into. As we have no idea and the references to both the spider and butcher could just be false trails
Highly unlikely but still a possability
@mellow jetty I was expecting so many answers from that qna and all I got was more questions. DAMN YOU
Damn, that I am.
That is the only thing we can do.
No matter how confusing it may sound, it is always an honest answer.
@sinful trout Ask away
So there's a lot of
'As Above, So Below' symbolism in Hunt
lots of subtle occult themes
specifically with the logo: Two crosses, one inverted one upright
conveniently in the shape of an 'H'
I wouldnt say an upside down cross is exactly subtle
well yeah that's one of the most overt exmples
Ofc
and when Rehab was saying in the hardcore lore thread about a 'source'
I didnt even notice it was an H until like last week...
he said something about being spoken to from within, its too dark, they lead him, etc
is there some kind of theme here with the Microcosm and Macrocosm?
where the Hunt in the bayou relates to one's inner journey and fighting one's own demons?
The hunters do some shady stuff to get the dark sight and it fucks them up physically by using it too
like ingesting (extraterrestrial) parasites?
bit of a stretch theory-wise
I dunno I love this kind of stuff
I feel like they're trying to do something along the lines of the stories from the Soulsborne games with the vagueness of the narration
Are there any other sources we can access aside from the Desk of a Hunter and the other stuff on the official website?
I'd like to do some Lore spelunking and I feel like I've already exhausted the available resources
at least the ones that are outside the game itself
Tarot cards when
^ "when" being the operative word
boys, is there any summary of the lore so far?
Until the Books hit the game there is not that much.
There is something on the steam cards :p
guess I'll have to wait until I'm home from work to dig into those
is there a translation of the German entry from the book about the "Louisiana Event" anywhere?
I don't speak german
Figure responsible for fashioning and maintaining the physical universe. Connections?
@mellow jetty has the human name of the butcher or the spider been noted anywhere in the current available lore entries?
Isn't the spider technically pultiple people?
I always thought those additional limbs where from others
we got some Gnostic themes going on...
I like it
lots of implications with the Demiurge
So is the Louisiana Event a product of the Demiurge's rage at his imperfect creation?
and he's sent the "plague" as an attempt to "clean up his mess"?
Damn I love the lore to this game. Everytime I think I'm getting close to figuring something out it opens up a whole new level of questions and pieces of information I need to get
And its not even hardcore lore
less souls type and more in mystery
cause the souls had (assumedly) the whole sotry there, just hard to find
and piece together
currently I believe a lot of the hunt lore hasn't been released yet
Alright, can anyone summarize the lore of this game??
Haven't kept up from the beginning so no idea
Are theory’s aloud in here?
@blissful shadow check the pinned messages
alright
@sinful trout I never ignore a hunter. Had to go over my notes. At this moment I don't have knowledge that can help you.
But tell me something, why do you think that they are of one human?
Just look at that spider, do you think one person is enough material for something like that?
Are you saying Spider is made up more than 2 people!?!? But there is only one face!
@sinful trout
Q: It is possible that the djinn mentioned in the last qna is what Reed turned into. As we have no idea and the references to both the spider and butcher could just be false trails
Highly unlikely but still a possability
A: The word djinn... It would be better not to get attached to the words too much. Check who calls it a djinn...
@minor peak he's got a point. Not one person has nearly enough material to make the spider. And we've established that parts can grow (based on butcher) it could very well be 2 people. Was anyone else alive still with Reed when he began to turn?
There is another Doctor according to trading cards..
"I was too late. There was no trace of Dr. Winkler or Father Nico."
Dr. Winkler.
Maybe Doctors became Spider?
Or it's possible that he arrived to find the spider. (There was no trace of Dr Winkler or father Nico) maybe Winkler went insane just as Reed did and used Nico for spare parts
Also can someone leave me a link to the abdulaziz letter?
2people = 8 limbs
@random lava that's what I'm thinking
Perfect amount of limbs. Accurate enough body size
Interesting theory
@mellow jetty can you link me the abdulaziz letter please?
I can't. At work away from PC. Sorry.
That's fine :)
And has anybody else noticed on the desk of a hunter the circles note, it looks exactly like an eclipse
When I looked at the Spider when it was dead it really did seem like there was more then one pair of "borrowed" human legs and arms. I would think that multiple people were involved in making the Spider

So...
How does a person become hive?
According to my guide...
"It looks like a person possessed by some kind of insect spirit turned the body into a hive itself. According to Dr. Reed during the autopsy, the body, two hours after its death, contained only moths (insects) and no organs. It is unknown how the transformation was done but it seems like the chest exploded into a nest full of toxic insects, leaving the upper torso hanging to the left."
I think a trailer shows the chest exploding into a nest but it is kind of shown off-screen and very very brief.
"It looks like a person possessed by some kind of insect spirit turned the body into a hive itself. <----- WAT
Thats what wikia said. 🤔
Wiki is human written
And to my mind nobody in Hardcore deals with wiki
So it might be head-canon since i don't recall coming across that
@minor peak there's a reference to the hives in one of the letters. Something about they knew she would rise. These hives that we had to kill twice. Maybe it has something to do with the virus getting into the lungs of someone? To be fair lungs (if dried) could make a good basis to a wasp nest
Hive required two shots to die, apparently.
Yeah but you get my point right? I think that's a good starting point on becoming a hive
Hmmm.
Keep in mind the whole "had to kill twice" could reference to actually killing a human (or grunt) and they transformed after
Lungs going dry, allowing for moths to settle inside the chest.
As in 2 lives
Something like that
But you ahve to wonder. How come the wasps only follow the hives command? The hive seems to be controlling them, because they only attack you if the head sees you. And they stop attacking once the hive dies.
Are you ref. to the steam card Drowned Maid?
I am yes
I see. That one contains one more secret.
Oh?
It is in a way easter egg
Apparently the hive can even hear you.
As it can launch a swarm of insects in distance without it actually seeing you.
Is it the thing to the lower right corner by the barn looking like a hive?
See you through the eyes of the other?
I think it's no different than a grunt hearing you Sprint. But seriously. Why do the wasps over the hives brain?
idk but it seems like a broken tree that caught on fire.
Its only a tree imo. That is not easter egg
Figured. 😄
Maybe it is the text? Part of it? 👀
Tree part of the text?
Nah, forget the tree.
Drowned Maid.
Yeah, all hives wear maid clothes.
That is unless there are... male hives?
Or perhaps....
I haven't seen any
I thought that before
Women can birth babies.
On my journey I did not stumbleupon male hive.
Therefore they can "birth" insects?
That's a stretch
Oh boy, there are no male hive lol.
I did not say that, only that I seen none.
Hmm.
Perhaps the wasps are actually milk bees
I really suspect that only women can be hives.
Because like I said.
Women can birth babies.
I do as well
The ester egg is the name of the card. That is correct. But what is the connection to our world?
Maybe they can "birth" insects too?
One thing is sure, insects didnt come from the lakes.
Please tell me it's not the song
I'll be very sad if the Easter egg is nothing but a song lyric
Hmmm
Drowned Maid..
Hmmm
The song you say 😉
THATS ALL IT IS
THE BIG EASTER EGG YOU AHD ME SO HYPED FOR IS A SONG BY AN UNDERGROUND BAND?
Wet-stool?
That's not funny @mellow jetty
Stop seeding confusion... We are trying to focus on piecing the lore together not adding more doubt and clutter....
Yeah, we are awesome when we are tired of you not telling us the exact words about something. 😭
Amorphis - Drowned Maid
@mellow jetty I'll hunt you, I'll kill you, I'll abuse your body and I'll kill you again
I'll feed it to Spider.
@slim hatch That is kinda .... Evil... But then again LOVE is EVOL.
Songs, ew.
Leave 8mile out of this
Well yeah, the name of the card is ref. to the Amorphis - Drowned Maid song.
That is your Easter egg
Uninteresting.
💔
I thought it was an easter egg towards how the f-- women became the hives!!
I never said that other info is incorect or correct.
It is very intresting to follow the theory you guys I have.
I know, it's deep
I still suspect that uh..
I'm ofc archiving all of this for later use.
If Women can birth babies, then they can "birth" insects.
Thus why they become the hive.
I can feel you distance yourself from me... Did not appreciate that easter egg that much...
My blood runs cold... It is the time. I go meditate on my chair and listen to them... Maybe they will guide to the answers you are seeking.
And then we will have full questions about where did that water devil come from..
@mellow jetty Stop sowing confusion and throwing us off tracks!
@minor swallow Slap the bitch!
😄
@mellow jetty you can regain our trust by answering how women become hives.
@minor peak actually now that I think of it. I've never seen a female grunt
@minor peak but how's the whole birth babies birthing insects related... I don't understand
@sinful trout it's obvious queen parasite infects lady births soldiers builds hive ta da
Ha flipping ha
@slim hatch Sorry to disappoint you but there is a massive amount of respect between the two @minor swallow . Multiple reasons as to why is that. Unfortunately, your slap request will go directly to the trash can. But don't worry I still
you.
@sinful trout Flipping some papers, flipping some books.
@mellow jetty thank you :D
:3
@mellow jetty As i said I don’t know if i fucking hate you or love you. You’re Not a solution you’re a torment! A tease! A deceiver!
Calm down woman, wtf.
Wait.... @slim hatch I think rehab is dissapointed he's not getting slapped "unfortunately your slap request will go right to the garbage"
@slim hatch DONT BE MEAN TO @mellow jetty HE MIGHT BE ANSWERING ONE OF OUR QUESTIONS. DONT SPOOK THE BIRDS
You can't slap the prophet, I'm guarded by them. That is the reason why I'm still alive even after so much traveling and hunting.
Problem is I can’t verify his words other than trust, so I can’t make a claim as I can’t back it up
He said he will alsways be truthful
His messages may be cryptic but it just means we have to work to understand them
Yeah you see cryptic messages don’t allow deductions either
As they are up for interpretation
Which can send us off academic track toward wild speculations
And that is as good as claiming god exists because there is no proof it doesn’t.
There is no source to verify it would add up at least if he gave us solid lore piece give a hint that we can later verify with the writers
But he doesn’t
And it irritates
Not up for interpretation. There's only one answer to his cryptic B.S we just have to take more guesses and less facts. Since we don't have a whole lot of static lore it will have to change over time
My guess is he asks mods and crytek if he can release info and they just tell him he can hint at it but can't use them as a source
There is something Blue Plain mention yesterday. When I show up, from nowhere.
What did he mention?
Rehab was the first ever Hunt Showdown Moderator. He could ask for some lore information but I do not know exactly what information he has researched himself. I trust him personally.

And you saw that most of the time I write in funny ways right? Referring to something as "they" "the voices"
Yeah
Its all part of the story, to make it a more interesting. I can't toss all the answers to your face. I,we,they want to know what do you think, how is everything connected.
For example the Hive theory you crafted today. That is something.
Well it's based off of a bit of biology and stuff I've noticed in game and through the cards
I'm really really interested in this lore
I can see that 😃
But have you an answer to my question? What happens physically to the bodies of the women as they turn into hives?
Also about the source I did explain to you in a funny way why I can't tell you.
Time will come, and you'll see I speak the truth.
@slim hatch
Do the moths themselves turn into wasps and form on the lungs of the hives? Or does the virus simply create a comfortable atmosphere inside the hives for the wasps
For now, I don't have the answer to your question and theory. I'm looking through the books... Aka waiting for a answer 😛
Gotcha. Well, when the voices speak. Let us know
Sometimes "they" need a bit of time... We have to be in sync,
