Depends on what mythology you take. Revenants are pretty much a stable all over. In in Greek folklore, you have undead that return if they've sinned or died a wrongful death.
They’re zombies in the modern sense of the word
I meant the word itself zombie comes from Vodou and Yoruba
And it’s become a catch all for undead
Yeah
And in a sense they also were similar to that traditional meaning of zombie with the way lynch resurrected them
They now have their own will again but originally were there for her will
Okay, that does make them closer, because in Vodou zombies can regain their own agency, but it's often from an external force and rare.
Though iirc, if you feed one salt that can break the spell over them
Salt, good for what (magically) ails ya
That Trailer was fantastic
I’d imagine its like the rest of the trailers, just non canon
Very good trailer tho
It's a sure thing that the other guy is the Statesman, but it's harder to tell exactly who this is. Jesse Buchanan: Rookie seems the closest fit especially with the mix of bandolier straps and holster straps, but it's not as definitive as I'd like.
It’s weird bc they seem to be pushing story more w the last trailer and now this
But yeah I think a mix of canon and not canon
But Jesse has been wearing the veteran outfit ever since Scorched Earth
Or has he?
He has. Unless he is to do so soon.
They like to play fast and loose with the tiered hunters so I don't worry about it too much
I think it's jesse
If they wanted to do a generic soldier place in they coulda just used the generic ones they used for the scrapbeak trailer
the left is absolutely without a doubt the statesman though
even though he sounds a bit different
Like Justin Pierce just got shot dead but chances are he'll show up in some trailer in October
they all just got shot dead
no shot they plan to never do anything with turncoat ever again
infernal pact cope
It's very possible. When's the last time you heard from The Gunslinger? She came out two DLCs prior to Turncoat and they've just never done anything with her, she might as well have been shot dead in a trailer back in 2022. Similar for BB hunters like Grotesque, Sea Wolf & Wight Raven, Servant of the Void, etc. Hunt is filled with these throwaway hunters, they might as well actually throw them away now and then.
idk I feel like the turncoat is just a pretty enjoyed hunter by people while on the flipside I've seen maybe like 3 grotesques in my life
I could be wrong of course
they do play fast and loose now but if they planned to do it permanently they can't do it forever less they run out of people to kill
oh I just saw the lady of the night appearance at the end
that feels a bit abrupt hahaha
Agreed, it's better that they plan for these deaths when making the characters, which fits with 5/6 deaths being from this event, kinda like how they were ready to kill off The Fool or the Judge based on how players chose. There's still 150+ hunters they can invent friends for and then axe now and again, and they surely won't be making a habit out of it.
Plus they can always retcon it later cause trailers are the least reliable lore, and it's only through the absence of contradiction that they can hold any amount of truth.
I miss the judge
at least I get 3 seconds of statesman content and more hints at the Lt Col coming
He better be the center of a whole ass event this summer and not just a story challenge in May
true
I know we have plenty but I would enjoy some more army weapon skins
mainly because they have a thing for giving it to weapons that have never seen US service ever so I would like some fixing in that
Pretty sure trailers doesn't count anymore.
Otherwise everyone in Web of the Empress, except the Empress, would be dead too.
That’s what I was thinking. Whenever we see a hunter die in a trailer, someone potentially came along later and revived them.
It feels a little different with Devil's Trail cause they're playing it pretty straight with storytelling and a narrative seems to be progressing via the events depicted. Web of the Empress was a snapshot of random Hunter life with no story and was used to showcase the new hunters and features for the first time so of course they're not really dead yet.
If they never depict the scouts and turncoat gang again, I'm willing to believe they intended for em to die.
Sure, but I don't think we can really pick and choose to our own connivence in that regard.
I feel like it's a wait and see kinda thing. I can see it go any way really
We might be forced to if Crytek is willing to change up how they treat trailers now and then and we only have our analysis of each one to go on.
Stormseer was mentioned later to be working with the Turncoat Gang alongside Head Taker so it seems like she survived, and Death Mask similarly gets paired with the Death Pact so he could come back at any time if Crytek wants.
Yeah, like we know from Chary that, under the right circumstances, you can really resist a shit ton of punishment.
And we also know from Tide of Shadows that Death Cheat is actually a thing in this world.
this isn't anything important but I think it's funny the meridian turncoat gang is shown off in this way because this shot with men hunting other men down in the wilderness with the red sunny backdrop is how I was envisioning like half the scenes in blood meridian
The #lore-discussion channel is on fire. 🔥
Based off the conversation from earlier, I doubt anyone from the trailer is dead. Think of the Desolation trailer for example, Beekeeper died in the trailer but was alive for the actual event
I agree with Rai though, these trailers have been very different to all the other trailers.
Obvious story themed/focused
Except for the weird dlc advertisement at the end
I think a big thing too is there's no actual confirmation of death
She gets a new army skin? 😔
Yeh
Didn't pay attention
One of my favorite guns
I'm officer team
its looks like it got red/white or gold
I like narmy
Jokes aside, officer is pretty good
kinda similar to lilith new army but with some red cloth wrapped around
any huge updates to the lore?
Like are there still two innoculaions or is it completely retconned?
There's 2.5+ inoculations currently. The historical AHA one, the Lynch one, whatever tainted version of the Lynch serum The Cook made up, and then potentially new inoculations revealed by Wyatt Preston in exchange for his life, but those have not been brought to light, just mentioned as treasure to be gained.
As for other big lore changes:
- The non-AHA aligned military now has some awareness of the incursion (Devil's Trail)
- A first-hand description of what it looks like when the Sculptor corrupts something was discovered (Brute lore)
We're still more or less stuck on Scorched Earth as far as the core narrative goes but there's small hints suggesting something could happen (chances are nothing happens though)
the historical one being the plant one? can you tell me more about that one?
It's been in use for an unknown amount of time within the AHA, and is known to contain groundsel, hackberry, devil's snare (datura), and something that makes the concoction taste like iron - previously we thought it was blood or even a hunter's heart, but it seems like introducing human flesh to the inoculation corrupts it so maybe not. Groundsel is poisonous, hackberry is safe, but datura is the key. It's historically been used to induce hallucinations and visions of an occult or religious nature, so it makes sense that it would serve as a key to unlocking Dark Sight.
I really do hope whitlaw brings some sort of outside tension to the story, I feel like he has the ability to bring in more behind the scenes lore with the backers and such since the military and backers who roughly would be the people to talk to when it comes to the incursions would be less crazy than other factions in the game, and would give a big possibility for civil conversation and lore drops
The serum itself is corruptive to a degree, as women who take it then get pregnant would have their blood latch onto the fetus and transform it into a monster, which happened twice; once long enough ago to cause the ban on women joining the AHA, and again with the birth of the Meathead.
Right and then the new one from that evil chick was the one that sterilized them iirc letting women join, thats lynch correct?
Yup
Huh so i guess that solves the thingy then, it never made sense that the Christian hunters would take her version considering it seems like that one is flat out contrary to everything they stand for.
but the OG version could fit lore wise
It's not too well explained but it seems like people didn't really know what Lynch was doing. She sold her human sacrifice demon-juice serum to Huff who distributed it to the hunters. Somehow the information got out of course cause Hayden Collins heard about it then wrote about it (maybe Lynch told the Twins and they told him and he filled in the blanks of what wasn't described) but Sofia and Hardin talk about it in Desolation's Wake and neither seem to concretely know what she did, beyond that she created it and was later revealed to be a witch, so the serum can't be trusted.
Even so the "damnation" effect also seems odd. idk whats going on with that either, if that only applies to her version or to the OG AHA one too.
prob has something to do with hers and the sculpers realm if i had to gues
Completely crackpot theory, but what if that's Lilith's revolver or the same style as hers
Could be the same style, hard to tell for sure, but it's looking like a pax trueshot
even though lilith escaped the cult it was my understanding that the symbol on all of liliths stuff was the cults symbol
The red ribbon going around it suggests it's a new style in a similar rich theme
goes deeper than just connected to her?
Oh, I thought it was a new army
It could be, I'm terrible at judging barrel lengths
I was thinking it would be wild if Lilith got a second skin
If she did it would be from a BP rather than someone else's DLC
Ye it's definitely a Narmy now that I'm looking for the details
I kinda liked the idea on prexisting hunters getting an outfit swap secondary skin for colorado
not something I'd recommend devs spend their time on but something I personally enjoyed the thought of
So, we all agree the recent trailer probably isn't canon, right?
I mean, basically everyone from the current event kills each other.
I just sit here, being excited that we finally get some semblence of a bigger world. It was a matter of time until the "public" would and should have cought wind of the incursion. I am curious to see how they handle the army being involved without blowing it wide open
Sound 100% new army and yea its nice it’s similar to liliths new army skin
Ooooo
Are... Are PSB part of the corruption then
👀
Love the bit about her killing lewis
So he's not cain
Myth debunked
oh the patron
sorry
i read that as her killing him- lewis brother- not the patron
mb
cain myth still avaliable
so do we think the band is port sulphur?
i do. they have a bunch of stuff at the saloon
also, i dont know if we have any other bands mentioned in the lore
Rai would know more
I can’t recall any other mentioned bands, none like the PSB anyway
But thank you crytek for not killing my Cain headcanon
I wonder if she’s supposed to know eddy davies/the spirited
He also kept the bar there awhile
what cain headcannon?
That Cain is the younger desalle brother
were can i read up on this?
the dlc looks so good
100%, PSB witnessing Lewis Saloon turn into a bunch of grunts as they played has been mentioned a couple times now. Once in a loading tip,
During a live performance one humid July night, the Port Sulphur Band appeared at a local saloon, only to witness the entire audience’s gruesome transformation before their very eyes. No one knows if any of them actually made it out alive…
and then Lewis Saloon has a picture of the band on the wall, which is also referenced by their old spotify bio:
The year is 1895. A group of haggard traveling musicians, newly arrived in Lawson Delta, have been forced to face horrors they could not have imagined. Stories and hints of what they faced there have made their way into the songs the Port Sulphur Band wrote. Only two would make it out alive, a photograph in the ruins of what once might have been a saloon the only evidence they were ever there at all.
And lastly parts of the exclusive letter that came with the physical album on vinyl:
I walk among the survivors and am greeted with a smile. If only they could see my insides, rotten and worm-ridden. I hunger only for flesh, but for now I can still ignore the voices. Instead, I transcribe their stories and their threats and put them to music. Instead, I incite the crowds to devour each other before my eyes, feeding off of their hunger and violence and need. I will them to bite and tear into flesh, the thick watery pustule of an eye popping between yellowed teeth, long strings of skin peeled from spidery limbs with broken, dirty fingernails. The wild, empty look in their eyes as they begin to scream. They do not seem to know that they are the ones performing. The darkness passes through me, and into them. I could not close the door, even if I wanted to. Is it I who am the fool? Or is it them?
psb event whennnnnnnnnnnnn
Sunshine is here. So fingers crossed it comes with a guitar melee weapon
Do we know what Hail Mary did to get excommunicated, as is mentioned by the description of the Revelation (Quad Derr)?
She killed a man, and a few more. She shot them down, and left their bodies cooling on the old dirt floor.
That'll do it.
does every hunter play a role in the entirety of Hunt Showdown lore or only some do
Only some do. Over the years some of them have gotten bit roles to play when they belong to pacts back when pacts were a big thing in events, but a lot of them just exist as a thematic thing and we never hear anything beyond their initial reason to exist. Rangda's Shadow and Grotesque come to mind as recent examples.
do we have a end goal in Hunt Showdown right now ?
Kill the Sculptor, or if that's impossible, end the incursions. We know that the latter somehow happens at some point according to the researcher looking back on these historical texts, but we don't know how or when it'll happen.
A lot of the conflict comes from the day to day order that has to be maintained while searching for a way to accomplish the big goals. Most hunters are just here for pay and thrills rather than dedication to ending the crisis, so half of the focus goes to keeping these killers in line.
The Sculptor works in mysterious ways.
If we know that it’ll happen one day, does that kinda mean there may one day, be an “end” to Hunt?
Yes, and then the next game will be Hunt: Showdown 1976 🪩
Probably not, hardly any live service game plans out its end, they just peter out and fade away in the middle of things. Maybe they'd reveal it as a retrospective at some point, or maybe they'd plan out a real end if they wanted to get people to migrate to Hunt 2 or something.
Hunt 2 could be in a more modern setting but I was just thinking maybe they could go back to medieval times.
But then again, with Hunger releasing soon maybe not a medieval setting but possibly 1926.
The Roaring Twenties had jazz and maybe we could have a Marilyn Monroe type of hunter.
I think the slow cowboy guns are what makes hunt work
Literally
Once we get more Atvomat-esque guns, the magic fades into a supernatural period COD or Tarkov
Ok then, Hunt: Showdown 1796 with muskets.
It's tough because I want to see more of the mystical side of things. But having it kinda behind the veil is one of the best parts of hunt.
Like where's the line before hunt becomes Hunt Shadow Wizard Money Gang.
@real cedar booh, may I suggest the addition of the new spyglass effect for its update history ? Now it will show the carts on the compass, it was added for the DT event :>
Yeah that makes sense. I'll add it as soon as some wiki gg server problems are resolved 👍 currently if we make edits the pages are just replaced wholesale with other pages
Oof.
😮 Hazmat on the front page!
https://x.com/HuntShowdown/status/2042981773793980795
Like a true scholar, our Hunt Partner @HazmatFTW breaks down the bayou’s lore, covering its characters and everything that lurks within.
Here’s his take on the Firebreather.
https://t.co/Fo7MFDjZIm
They're so sweet :)) ❤️
I'm all for that. I was real excited for Hunger until i realized that it was just another trash collection game.
Hunger is still looking good for lore, the missives the devs are putting out are intense and rather in depth, kinda like Hunt's early stuff before they changed writing teams twice.
I want it to succeed so badly
I'm hoping it's good. But, the core gameplay still seems to be around collecting random junk to progress your character.
I keep hoping the extraction shooter genre will move away from trash collection toward other drivers of pvp action. But, everyone making games in the genre still seem to think the core mechanic has to be scavenging.
Except for Hunt. Which is why, even after 8+ years, Hunt is still a hidden gem.
I agree and I appreciate the simple loot mechanics of Hunt.
Yeah that’s why hunt is so great. You don’t need to spend 3000 hours every wipe no lifing the game to be competitive
You have access to pretty much the same gear as everyone else from day 1
So…as someone who’s never played where should I start with the lore?👀
@real cedar is the most qualified person to answer that question. 📚
HazmatFTW on youtube has some good introductory videos to get the core idea and tone, and then videos on any specifics you might be interested in.
To get into the text lore itself, you can either use the Compendium (in the pinned messages of this channel) or the wiki (https://huntshowdown.wiki.gg/wiki/Lore)
In either case, going down the list starting from the Louisiana Incident then the Book of Monsters then Book of Weapons works the best. That sets up the world and background in more or less the chronological order they were released in, then the event stories begin to move the plot forward. Online blogs add in some extra details here and there and mainly work to fill out the world a bit more so they can be read whenever.
The Lore of Hunt: Showdown 1896 takes place at the end of the Gilded Age, where a mysterious Corruption has overtaken a Louisiana bayou outside New Orleans and later a Colorado mining town in the mountains. While the story happens in the 1890s, the lore itself is epistolary, told through recorded documents...
Got to #bug-reports-pc or somewhere instead of saying this in like every accessible chat😭
In the Bayou cruelty is common like the sounds of crickets
I need a lore dump of the Bandit and Highwayman, can anyone help?
The Bandit~Hungry for wealth, fame, and glory, the gang called the Blackhand Bandits were notorious–until the day when the money went missing and guns were pointed. Only one walked away from the bloodbath: The Bandit. Once he’d spent the blood-money, he joined the Turncoat Gang for more.
The Highwayman~ Wit Ottaway has distant memories of an honest life. He made his name as a highwayman, until he robbed someone he shouldn’t have and learned something he couldn’t forget. This mistake chased him until The Turncoat gunned it down, and now he repays him with a life debt.
Then there is their respective equipment
TYSM!
No trouble at all , the Wiki helped me assure there were no errors admittedly haha
Fantastic lore for the Turncoat gang
Vibes abound
They make a decent foil and contrast with the other key players this event (One Who Flies , Red Raven, the Cook)
The Turncoat gang is one of my favorite bits of lore in the game. Love learning more about them!
The Firebreather was once a part of the Turncoat Gang, until some unfortunate circumstances occurred involving another member by the Moniker of Head Taker
Agreed
Head Takers parents.. whatever happened there
Black Coat gang > Turncoat Gang
Sadness
How much betrayal can he take??? Eh, he never had the makins of an old west outlaw anyway.
You know Monroe did 20 years in the Asylum? Not a peep.
Control the infection is what he did! He was a great enforcer of the American law! And in this house Sherrif Hardin is a hero! End of story!
You know the Prescient Night predicted all this
You're not gonna believe this; she killed 16 Hunters in Lower DeSalle! Broad was an interior decorator!
Her salloon looked like shit..
I'm not ashamed to say it. My estimation of William Durant as a man just fuckin’ plummeted.
WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE?
How bout that Backer’s face when he saw the Sword
“We’re with the Backers!”
Whatever happened to John Victor? The strong, silent type
Who's the night speaker
The Night Seer?
Iirc the night speaker is who made the revenant
We don’t really know anything on them beyond that
presumably night cult related too^
Yup!
Is there any good lore channel besides the guy who talks with the most obnoxiously raspy voice ever
There’s not really a big lore scene on YouTube or anything unfortunately
Sobbing rn
There's so much I don't know but want to
Like who's in what pacts
The pacts are pretty fluid
Oh
Are there not like strict members besides a few? I remember when we could like pick a side
People tend to flit from pact to pact depending on what’s going on in the story. Like reaper was part of the infernal pact in Devil’s moon, but as of tide of corruption he abandoned the infernal pact for the death pact
Okay so the sculptor, that's the reason for the plague and zombie esque mfs right
Yup!
So entity from dbd
What's dark sight? Is that what we take that makes us immune to the influence of it
Like is that included in cosmic negation
There’s an inoculation that hunters take that immunizes them to the corruption
What about people that already have it
Such as the rev
Or was he just a dead dude
So the revenant is different from the grunts
He’s more of an actual zombie who was raised from the dead, not infected
But there is a hunter who took the inoculation after being infected! He’s one of the twitch drop hunters, appropriately named the infected lol
The inoculation has slowed things down and helped him out
It used to be the American hunters association, but they fell apart and now it’s these rich guys called the backers
I do gotta go to bed now, but if you check the pinned messages, there’s links to two documents that compile all of the lore from the game!
I can't read no fair
(Also if anyone else is online they can answer your questions, but alas I am sleepy lol)
Not all of them. Some of them are undead, some of them have a natural immunity, and some can resist the effects for a certain period of time, but can't survive in the incursion zones forever.
I think the inoculation that gives them dark sight and the immunity to the corruption are two different things.
What's up with the bosses? Do they like come back or is it canon that once they die they're dead
William Moses was held up inside his farm for days until the AHA stumbled across him during a hunt. There's also that guy from the Haymaker mastery who was definitely uninoculated and was traveling through the Bayou, found Assassin, and was offered a spot among the hunters yet denied the proposition and went back north where he came from.
The sculptor makes copies of them over and over again.
Each boss has different origins, but the circumstances for their continued existence remains the same.
Some hunters are currently deceased for good, others have come back, and some we don't really know for sure.
I'll assume some like the rev and drowned ones can come back
The gameplay doesn’t really make sense lore wise
In the lore each hunter has one life
The drowned ones came back from the dead once iirc
In previous events we've seen traits described as being used by certain characters throughout the story. One particular example was Cardinal rain using remedy to heal an injured Chary.
So traits r canon?
But Basilino is also partially correct. Some of the gameplay aspects do not align or translate very well with the narrative.
I think they're canon to a certain degree, but magically bringing hunters back from the dead would probably be regarded as a rare occurrence.
Bad Hand and the drowned pact hunters are a few examples of dead hunters who've genuinely cheated death.
I'm not sure about other hunters like Death mask, Infected, and Ochenkov. They're like partially grunt or something. I don't entirely understand how it works.
Oh and False saint is another hunter who I think has definitely come back from the dead a few times iirc
The infected is just halfway to being a grunt
Death mask was a grunt and was somehow brought back by the Corvids
The lore of Hunt is deeper than a sea floor traveled by mantis. 🦐
Hey, that's me 😄
Hey man, I'm gonna be honest I was getting dogged on and I was pissed off, I'm sorry if that sounded rude because I mean it was
No worries, man. I get it. My voice is an acquired taste 😄 ❤️
Yeah, I don't normally talk about stuff like this but I feel like it's very relevant 😭, I am decently hard of hearing, so just with a mix of everything that happen I took my anger out on you when I shouldn't have, truly sorry my man
Don't sweat it, man. No offense taken ❤️
Being honest the main thing that irritated me was I thought you were just putting on a voice for the hell of it and then I said that... And then it processed to me that it could've been a medical thing or what not
I think it's cool, it sounds like Shohreh Aghdashloo
🔥 Inferno 🔥
who lit the fires?
Hellborn
Stuff just kinda happens now, no lore explanation needed
ITS THE SCULPTOR AND THE CORRUPTION
The sparks of madness made manifest. (Or something idk.)
Maybe the Welder Brother's were playing with matches.
Bloodborne type rant
Hellborn started the fire🗣️
It’s been burning since he done got turned
Hellborn started the fire🗣️
No we didn’t light it but we’ll try an’ survive it
I always found it ironic that the infernal pact never started either of the previous infernos.
And this time we don't really get an explanation as to who or what started it, but Hellborn suddenly appearing in the Bayou is probably the best assumption.
Also, because Hellborn has suddenly appeared in the Bayou it's also a good assumption that the Sculptor has probably begun making copies of him now.
But like Tib said earlier, everything kind of just occurs now. There isn't really any larger narrative anymore.
I mean there a bunch of laterns immolators hellborn any of that could've started the fire
my favorit theory is some idiot try to summon a sculpcter crreation but failing miserably
....
I am not gonna try craft a first verse to this
The flames dance and seduce you while potentially being the lovely cause of your agonizing demise 🔥
Why don't Waterdevils eat the ducks?
I’m not sure, but I think a Water Devil Bomb would be cool. Throw it in water and then they would activate and attack. 🪱
The pacts are loose organizations (except in the case of the Drowned which are four people only) of ideology and motive that began to spring up around the time the AHA fell apart and lost control of the situation.
There has been multiple eras of pacts, so people have moved between them over time. Here they are more or less in chronological order:
Infernal Pact: AHA loyalists (who followed the fraud Mr. Chary) and those who fight the corruption for the sake of greed & power
Lunar Pact: Ideologists that want to prevent further corruption and stop the Infernal pact's power grab
Grounded Pact: Neutral parties and those who fight as a matter of survival, their bayou homeland is corrupted
Smuggler Pact: Those who fight for the sake of greed and looting treasure
Primal Pact: Those who fight for the thrill of the Hunt and to remain under natural law rather than live under the burden of civilization
Death Pact: Those who fight to uncover the secrets of the Sculptor and ultimately put an end to the metaphysical issue of the dead rising.
Demented Pact: Those who fight as an act of worship to the Sculptor, and want to ascend to become monsters themselves
Drowned Pact: Zombie-like people brought back to life by the witch Lynch, who ended Desolation and now protect the Bayou
Lawful Pact: Those who fight to maintain order, either to bring back civilization or to punish lawbreakers within the Hunter community
Wilderness Pact: Those who fight as a matter of survival to protect their homeland, but this time in Colorado.
The Pacts still exist in lore, but their use in gameplay ended in 2024.
That's so lame why did they end
Being em back
I want em
Wasn't there something with the death pact a while ago?
Yeah, they were part of the Death Rites community contest
What was that about?
It was about Crytek wanting to have players do a PvP contest
The lore is very thin there and for some reason Sofia (more or less the leader of the Death Pact) fights her own pact on the side of the undead.
Is Sofia a character in game or in lore
In game
🤷 If we take that to be part of her character, yeah.
The lore is pretty loose these days so if something isn't confirmed elsewhere then it can be taken with a grain of salt
Did they say they were done with pacts or have they just not done anything with them? Because I've gotten a lot of death pact stuff from the bp
They haven't said so as far as I know but they haven't done a "Hunters are locked into pacts and can't get event traits from other pacts" thing since Harvest of Ghosts. Everything after that was freeform traits and murder circus troupes which are just trait dispensers.
We also haven't heard any pact doing anything narratively since Scorched Earth, just these little descriptors from weapon skins and such
I feel like
Restriction is fun
Because it's change that brings difficulties without making you worse to say
Just a different approach
Also I'm a dork and wanna know what pact my characters would be in and the interactions they gave n whatnot
Y'all can probably tell off the name I treat characters as more than thet
Shits cool as hell
I wanna know what the big bird followers would do
Especially because theres so many different pacts and the lines are blurry
Almost like sects if like religions
What are the sealed hoard things
The fact that the lore is suffering is a tragedy, but the issue with the pacts gameplay-wise was that they seemed to struggle balancing them well. There was pretty much always one clear option to pick. On occasion, there might have been a second pact that had a really good perk that was worth 1 person on your team having, but mostly everyone took the same pacts.
If they could somehow bring the pacts back and make them harder choices, that would be cool!
guy doesn't seem to have a great grasp on hunt's lore, but this was cool to see pop up in my recommended feed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RirVCRJK5eQ

I got that video too. It's actually a pretty good watch.
nice! I just started it and am planning on watching more of it in a bit
He’s right, Hunt is one of the greatest PvP First Person Shooters ever made. 💯
Headshots from Highroad Livery: Silencer are the final movement of an exquisite symphony
Is the Bone Doctor part of the Death Pact?
not to my knowledge, but he was part of the lunar pact
Pacts? I remember when they were important
iirc he was partnered with Lunar pact, but not actually an official member. He told them how to burn some kind of herb (I forgot the name) and that helped them harm Chary during one of the event stories from the moon trilogy.
I think I've mentioned it once or twice here before, but I've always found it ironic that Infernal pact never once started one of the infernos. The first time around it was the Lunar pact, the second is unspecified, but it's believed to be because of Rotjaw banishing from tide of shadows, and the current inferno is probably because of Hellborn or the fire breathers.
He was part of the lunar pact dlc bundle back in the day. Basically every hunter ended up being in one of the three pacts
Also iirc the infernal pact was also burning shit, the archeologist was fairly pissed at both groups for wrecking the bayou
i hope they nuke the bayou so i can play lawson instead
Has anyone else caught some easter eggs in the Inferno? I found what I think is a reference to Terminator 2, on the eastern road from Slaughterhouse to Healing Waters.
Springfield enjoyer spotted
theres the ghost rider + horse on desalle, nearing church if i remember
There's also the flaming skull at first testimonial
But I think that Terminator 2 one is new. I've never seen it before
There is no fate but what we make.
what pact do you guys think Mary is in after the lunar pact
Maybe death pact with wormbite?
What are pacts?
Pacts were a part of older event structures. Players would pledge their hunter to a pact via boxes found at supply points, and then gain an event trait from it, and be able to later purchase a second event trait specific to that pact. Some legendary hunters came pre-pledged to pacts, and there were lore connections describing what the pacts were doing / what they were fighting over in event stories.
The pacts began with Devil's Moon in 2022 and ended with Harvest of Ghosts in 2024, though Murder Circus had troupes which were almost like pacts but not. Over time, less importance was placed on pledging to a pact and they more or less became boxes that gave an event trait and you could mix and match as you like.
Lorewise, after the AHA dissolved, Hunters were gathering in pacts based on shared causes
Even before the AHA collapsed it wasn't uncommon for some hunters to organize themselves into groups like the Sinners and Night of the Hunters. Isaac Powell was initiated into the hunt by a small, unnamed group of militamen, and before the infernal pact even had a name they were just referred to as "Chary's lot."
Some of those groups may have not had the word "pact" in their name, but that's still basically what they were/are.
Are there any hunters in-game that belonged to the Sinners pact?
the viper was part of the sinners, I think they've left them as of the end of serpent's moon
Odd we never got a more direct or prominent sinners hunter
Likely because the Sinners as a concept is from the first writing team and mainly exists as trivia rather than a real identifiable group, the other writers likely don't want to do much with em cause it's not really a concept they can fully control start to finish.
Well, at least there's that bow and springfield skin in the game that proves they existed as part of the narrative at one point.
Is it still canon that every legendary gets the serum?
I'm trying to think how Monroe or Cain got it
Monroe is at least sane enough sometimes to be civil and work with other hunters so he likely received it when he joined the AHA
Cain may just running off a more natural immunity
Or he did the skull taker thing and stole it from some other hunter and somehow figured out how to inject himself
The Butcher’s Cleaver and The Scarecrow has to have natural immunity because of their description so not all hunters are on the serum
Iirc the serum is what allows them to interact with clues without just instantly losing their minds
My headcanon is that the Demented started to form even before Tide of Shadows, they just became more prominent after the Flood of '93. We already know Morigan and Midian worshipped the Scrapbeak in another cult, before they killed them and moved to the Bayou. So Butcher's Cleaver was more than likely already a Hunter that became psychotic after years and years of boar hunting, or whitnessed a Butcher transformation that fed his delusions.
At least 2-4 representatives have some twisted obsessions with their "patron". Butcher's Cleaver was a boar hunter. The Cowl had a fascination with beetles. Then they either took to hunting as a means to ascend after learning of the AHA. And it's not uncommon of the AHA to recruit any sort of scum and allow in-branch fighting, so long the bounties keep being collected.
i wish them made novels on this
I'm not even sure I'd call this a headcanon since the origins of the demented did in fact take root long before the actual formation of the pact itself. However, the official debut of the pact and it's members was of course during tide of shadows when we're told that cultists are taking scraps of the delphine wreck and using them to construct numerous altars around the bayou.
They should bring this back in new ways
What culture is Skull Taker from?
Unknown. The symbol on the skull is icelandic/norse but he's got dark skin - idk if its pigment or painted tho - and his bio describes him travelling the world so he could be from anywhere.
The closest culture that fits is a bootleg 1896 version of the alien Yautja from the Predator franchise.
It's Victorian era "Viking compass" iirc
Basically as Nordic as a horned helmet.
It was first found in the Huld Manuscript in 1860
So even then, he's got that sorta mystery vibe.
He's a "head hunter" which as an archetype doesn't narrow things down either.
But yeah the way finders compass is from Iceland at least (but it's one of those might be just some dudes art they attribute to the ancestors of a culture they fetishize)
about time to make some novels for this
i legit just want books based based in this world, would love them
I know I have a tentative outline for a short story.
Like they have a lot they can do.
indeed . hope they get them or non official ones
Just the general idea of a group of misfits heading out into the swamp to hunt a monster, potentially meeting other misfits on the way is a perfect setup for a story
Whether it's a novel, short story, movie, tv show, whatever
And you can definitely play up the fun or go for more horror
Or everyone's favorite "people can be the real monsters"
Yuuup
How do you guys feel about charms?
I like them and use them, especially the Mythic and Twitch Drop charms.
I missed out on the daughter of decay one but I'm not sure if it was even worth it to begin with
Kinda sucks cause I like daughter of decay and would have liked to have the charm
The only reason I missed out on the garden of the witch one was because an event point code expired before the actual event was over which was very silly.
@granite shard can you nuke this? 😄
Damn that sucks
Hi guys, I don't get it, what's the point for the cowl to kill the assasin, what's the point for Midian and/or Morrigan to kill scrapbeak etc. Is there a lore explanation for this?
Maybe to harness their power? 🤔
I don't recall it explicitly saying Midian and Morrigan attempting to kill Scrapbeak, but I know Cowl has encountered the assassin on several occasions and each time has recieved injuries.
Cowl's whole character seems to be aimed at harnessing and focusing chaos in some elaborate attempt to come out on top of the situation.
I also know that there seems to be some perception that these monsters that the sculptor keeps making and resurrecting are "impure" and groups like the Night of the Hunter slay them and paint their clothing and equipment and their blood as some sort of sacrifice or offering.
The Demented want to kill the targets to prove they're better monsters and deserve the Sculptor's attention and ascension more.
W Demented moment
What do yall think of the beware the shadow recolors
I'm not particularly fond of the color yellow, but I think they're fine.
It kind of bums me out because it's a reminder of what I missed out on before, but at the same time it is what it is.
If you're a fan of running Teche then these new skins definitely match him.
I just like how they are handling it I’m so glad they are not just outright rereleasing old exclusive skins but rather giving recolours so that if you like the skins you can still get them but allows the people who got it originally to keep the originals
Plus the potential to expand on the lore
the weapon recolors are nice, particularly the winnies
I don’t like the off green on some of the things but generally they all look pretty nice
I wonder if they'll do the Scrapbeak event
I bet they will go back and do them all
Was the scrapbeak event before or after light the shadow
Was after
I hope they redo it
I missed both light the shadow and scrapbeak events so those items and mainly those 4 hunters is some of the only stuff I’m missing in the entire game
I want the bomblance and medkit
I'll go back to being a Morrigan main with the bomblance
Hopefully the recolour still captures the feel in a good way the colours on the light the shadow stuff is kinda gross on some of them but others show some good potential
Bomblance is the most brilliant and unique weapon in the game.
It for sure is a very unique weapon I wish they made similar more fantasy like weapons like that
Actually I really like the saw blade launcher from the circus due to how it kinda captures that feel
Lemat mk2
Since if I remember the lemat like exploded in peoples hands a lot
Yeah sounds kinda gross ngl
Realistically you'd only have your 9 rounds and that's it
Plus the shotgun shell
Pretty much
Ok
What's yalls favorite weapon charms?
I only really use four
The new owl one, eye gouger, boreal point, and the arrowhead one
I hardly ever equip them unless I have one that matches the skin I use but I like the clock bonus charm from whatever event that was and the poker chips one and finally prob the serpents moon memorial and snake eater
the blood bullet, the whistle, the new owl one, the jaw one, the hay effigy
-# I still kick myself for missing out on the daughter of decay charm even though it's kinda mid
What one is that again?
Gimme a sec, lemme find it
The hay one is a solid one ngl
Doesn't really fit her imo
The gold I mean
I think it'd be cool if it was like a bloody piece of wheat or something
True
Still kinda works
I’m pretty sure I have that one but I don’t pay attention to my charms enough to know
So I use that ram horn fragment one and mother's gift for daughter of decay if I use a charm with her
i really only put them on certain guns and they have to not flop around too much
that one winnie skin with the dream catcher and a charm is impossible to use
Real
Some of them are a detriment to the gun itself too like the rival has the strings cover part of the sight on it
I feel like these too fit DoD better
I like the lore for Mother's Prize, talking about nature gone wrong and unnatural
The rock one
Sounds so cool to me
The rosary bead/cross

Poetic
I really liked the Rattlesnake Rattle on Sinner's Sinew
The Rosary on Uppercut (due to the fitting animation)
And the pocket watch (I use it on conversion because when I hit the grips it feels like I'm trying to get the time going again)
My top 5 charms are probably Cardinal icarus, Marred murex, grave bush, shadow rosary, and the new night's gift one from the current event.
Marred murex holds a special place in my heart because I have fond memories of my family at the beach looking for seashells.
The Lulu Broach from Judgement of the Fool I think it was?
the one about her cat?
I like how that weapon charm looks in a night map. 🗺️
Ferrymans Coin actually, first and the one what i like
whats master of treasury's lore
Can you send a pic of em? I think it has a different name in english
Ohh this guy. That little blurb is the entirety of his lore, we don't ever hear from him in other contexts. The 'true deck' was an early idea for in-game tarot cards that got scrapped, the current in-game tarot cards can be considered their evolution.
who are the sinners? also ive read that sinners sinew (bow skin) has a writing on it but i cant seem to see it
The sinners are a group of middle eastern Hunters that believe they are damned to hell no matter what they do, so they may as well face hell on earth and do good before being condemned, and live without hesitation or conscience. The Viper is the only playable Hunter that is or was a part of the group, while John Hayward and Sinan are mentioned in text lore in 'Remembering John Hayward Hunter', 'Journal of John Hayward', and 'Armored Mastery'.
The writing is on the side of the bow.
It says ||"yo mama"||
It say until the last nerve the last sinner
Who is the last sinner
Us
i want a model of the bandit without his face covered please 3d artists
I think it's implying they intend to do good unto the world until the last sinner is condemned.
do yall think that Rd Raven and One Who Flies would be part of the Demented Pact?
Along with The Cook?
Probably not because they're not out to kill monsters to gain the sculptor's favor and achieve ascension/metamorphosis.
Is there any good way to listen to the lore?
if you go on the website, the lore from the events is all voiced. unfortunately, the monster & weapon lore is not voiced
HazmatFTW on youtube describes the lore in his own way rather than read directly from the text but it's a good way to learn stuff
Thanks
Lmao so the funniest thought came into mind after this last DLC hunter Lady Lewis
What happens if Port Sulphur Band is like the root cause of all this they are the badies
They are at least part of the problem. In the letter included in the vinyl release it was mentioned that they witnessed how people turned during a performance and the singing was the cause. I wrote it down for y'all
I would link it, but I can't seem to find the option to search for a thread in the mobile app
Found it
Dope ty.
Is the “red shirt gang” a thing in the lore or is it just a community thing?
just a community thing
Red Shirt the hunter acts alone, but he was inspired in part by the people who before skins were a thing would play Tier 1-2 hunters and be loud rather than the typical sneaky Tier 3 camo'd hunters
👀 I was hoping the teasing was correct! We're getting a military themed event this summer
The motto is Virescit Vulnere Virtus, meaning 'Courage grows strong at a wound' or 'Virtue flourishes with misfortune'. It's the same phrase Dire Wolf has on his hand.
The 26th Regiment is a good touch too, the standing US Army only had 25 infantry regiments at the time (the real 26th was created in 1901) so this could be considered a regiment lost to time, a shadow regiment, or another example of alt-history.
Hmmm
That sounds so cool
I hope it turns into a bigger storyline and isn't just another one-event-gimmick
I mean, an entire army regiment could def have some bigger impact, right?
It seems like they have a duology or trilogy planned for this story beat, starting with the Devil's Trail scouts reporting to Col. Whitlaw, Whitlaw resolving that he has to send the 26th Regiment in to really figure what's going on, and then whatever results from the Hunters meeting the Army.
It was cool of them to tease this on Memorial Day.
I also didn't know dire wolf had that phrase tattooed on his hand. Does that imply he has a background with the military, or is it just a coincidence that he uses the same phrase?
Thing I'm trying to figure out is if this picture is a location outside the game or if it's like fort carmick
I don’t recognize that location.
could just be a made up location for the teaser, would not be the first time
but also could be maw battery
down the docks
True, there are stone walls there that look similar.
Won’t be long now, not long at all. Time’s caught up. You wouldn’t believe what I had to do to get here. Or maybe you would.
I met others on the road, and they sure understood.
All heading to the same place, to meet a man named Finch.
Word of advice: if you follow, mind what you do at that fork in the road. Mistake like that you can o...
That trailer is still so awesome.
what the fuck is this idiot aiming at bro 😭
Luggage 🧳
thats why they missed its a 3*
I've said plenty of times a military themed event is my dream but I never saw it happening, i was excited enough for the scouts and took that as my gift, but I guess I get even more so happy
What weapon skin is that
p sure its bunny for the mosin sniper
Ya youre right it is just looks really off in the video
If there's a connection, it's more that they're developing the military to connect with dire wolf than the other way around. The wolf hunting symbol on the regiment's flag is two similarities which is prob too much coincidence.
Irl, the motto only connects to scottish clans and military, no clear US military so I'm definitely thinking they took it from Dire Wolf to expand the world using a loose thread from an old hunter
I remember when you said that here, so we should all thank you for either being clairvoyant, inspirational or both.
his feet
So, as i see, Pale Judge is a good guy in Hunt?
the better of two evils at best for his story
Not sure if I'd call him a "good" guy, but he seems like a valuable friend to have provided you're on his side.
I think it's more if you pull the right card iirc
Nah this is gonna be fucking sick of they pull
Off the military thing right
Just like in the book lmao
There's not really such a thing as a "good guy" in Hunt. Most people are a mix of ruthless, greedy, power hungry and or mad. There's not really 'hero' material
closest thing is my son
Our boy kev. He’d be a good candidate for an updated legacy skin
dog my credit card is coming OUT when that shit drops
I thought Sheriff Hardin was a good guy until I started reading about him.
Kevin Linus! Yeehaw
Thinking about this historically you gotta imagine a lot of the hunters in the bayou are ex-confederate soldiers trying to make some money after they lost everything in the war
The brutal reality of war is the losing side often inherits ashes
The ones still spry enough in their 40s/50s perhaps, but we'll likely never see them in game
Yeah
Either way being a monster hunter in the bayou still a far better deal than mass poaching buffalo lmao
children of former confederate soldiers maybe, but civil war vets would be in their early 50s on the younger side of things, with most probs being in their 60s as of 1895
Yeah
Well there was some guys that fought as young as like 16 in the war
Mostly in the militias
Believe authors like Mark Twain spoke about it
Yeah that’s true. I do know that most of the hunters that aren’t anything special or legendary come from outlaw backgrounds and the like
Some stagecoach or train robber
I guarantee you figures like Teddy Roosevelt would absolutely LOVE their trip to the bayou lmao
I guess my point mostly is that while yeah the game takes place in the south in the 1800s, there's a pretty large gap in time between the civil war and hunt's stuff where vets of the civil war are largely just too old to make up the bulk of the hunters
in the hunter roster, the first character to be that sort of explicit civil war representation was the daughter of a woman who was involved in stuff in the war (and then in terms of monsters, scrapbeak came from a civil war vet who had an adult son)
the effects of the civil war and reconstruction likely had an influence on people who ended in some bad situations due to it, but by the mid-late 1890s, civil war vets likely don't make up a significant portion of the people involved in the hunt
Yeah fair enough
Salute to Sgt Bridgewater 🫡
If Bridgewater doesn't play a major narrative role in any upcoming event or story challenge I'm going to be disappointed.
I don't want a repeat of Mountain man and scorched earth.
Bloodborne crossover🥺
only if we get micolash as a hunter
Eileen the Crow
micolash is incredibly funny I love that guy
Main yharnam hunter set as well
I love him
With poison knives
if you stay close he doesn't do stars
just figure out his herding pattern and stay close to him and wake that man up
ezpz
Blades of mercy run taught me that but the trauma from my first playthrough will never leave me
he was the base game boss I was looking forward to the most he's so silly
amelia's pretty good
there's a group that makes models for 3d printing that focuses on soulsborne stuff I sub to, their june model is vicar amelia and I'm looking forward to that release
I think the lores could definitely tie in together if they did some work with it
And they both have hunters
A hunter must hunt
Exactly
I have it as headcannon America is just the bayou in the bloodborne universe
I’d honestly be fine w collabs in hunt if they were like little AUs
“This isn’t in the main canon, but it X was in the bayou, this is what it would look like”
Yeah
As opposed to how it works now where post Malone has interacted with many important lore characters
The first time I downloaded hunt and read that fucking post malone was in the game I laughed my ass off
Prodigal daughter kind of resembles Valtr.
You can pair bomblance with hunters like Skinflint and Infected and pretend you're Gehrman.
highwayman is very bloodborne coded
Is there a lore reason the Royal Phantom’s prosthetic is on the opposite arm of the normal Phantom’s? I couldn’t find anything, am I missing something?
Because it looked silly that he was injecting syringes into his prosthetic arm during gameplay lol
thats why its only bb hunter i bought
Turncoat as well imo
I have 1.5k blood bonds saved up and I’m waiting till the next event and seeing what’s worth getting
Especially the whole military thing is gonna be sick
The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions ♨️
that trailer's great
not super thrilled abt it looking like they're adding a full auto thing :/
any clue what that last bit could be teasing?
I’m not sure. I thought it was Leo Nunez but I don’t know.
for reference
The 26th Regiment marches into the bayou and the mountains with one mission: uncover the truth, purge the area, and march home heroes for it.
Road to Hell begins June 9th.
Will you join their ranks … or stand in their way?
Check out what's coming in our Event: https://www.huntshowdown.com/news/from-hubris-to-horror-road-to-hell-transforms-hu...
also the whole trailer lol
its a basic knife could mean one them turned coat

or the valve has something to do with it
Maybe a new Soldier Grunt with a knife or bayonet rifle?
could be cool, for the valve maybe it'll have something to do w gas stuff? since we had so much fire this past event
could be a way to set a wall of fire or something
Add this here too
god I was already not thrilled about the ned kelly skin
this is even worse with him just literally being ned kelly lol
i shall wait and see alpa but i am curious to know the lore behind the endin scene mainly what the H on the machine is about.
Same
helicopter, obviously
Do we assume Ned kelly in the hunt universe won his fight against the law then
Or has he not yet had his death fight
cause we at least know that someone had betray the group since no can get that close with bein an enemy but another thing is whats assassin doing in a a cage in the base and the remark from gas mask now everyone is fed
OH LORD OF LORE BESTOW US THOU WISDOM
@coarse lion Literal Ned Kelly is coming to the bayou, Smalls may dislike it but I know the #1 Kellyhead is gonna appreciate it 💪
I like that the Devil's Trail got paved, great event name
i am enjoyin what crytek has been puttin out recently even if the lores not much its better then the card trilogy
so I said this in main, but I feel like i got a point. hunter have been shown to make their own factions ever since the AHA seems to gone crazed. we got lawman keeping order, cults, bandits. hell the pacts are basically groups like the smugglers
The military might become its own faction, though the trailer makes it seem like they went in high and mighty, got humbled, and whoever survives and sticks around might just become as ruthless as the other hunters, or maybe become part of the Lawful pact.
I hope they put some good lore to this, the military coming in feels like a great point to really kickstart the narrative again and they've been teasing bigger ideas like Ironshod Bandit's story challenge talking about maybe new leadership is in order.
is it bad when I saw the trailer of them getting beat up i thought of WWZ and the battle of yoknkers?
Surprised they didn't fudge Kelly's name a bit, but I ain't complaining.
from the book I meam
they should have
like I don't love the annie oakley thing but at least they took her and then made a character as opposed to just literally ned kelly
As usual, here's the skins hinted at:
- Officer skin (likely skin set)
- Cavalry Saber skin
- Yet another Uppercut? Conversion? (not skin set, Ned Kelly DLC)
- Uppercut Precision skin? Might be weird lighting on a regular, or it could be a skin set version of Intrinsic Sin?
I like that they gave Whitlaw some actual saber fencing moves
As befits an officer, rather outclassed his opponent. Dude was not keeping up with the horror montage but a Hunter swinging a sword is something he's trained for.
Indeed, but it is not something I expected them to do. Not many people would recognize actual technique. They could have gone for "good looking approximation"
I dug that the hunter was more clearly using the basic move set, so to speak. Whitlaw was flexing with that footwork.
It's one of the few trailers that had me go 'Damn.' aloud.
Scorched Earth was a glitch fiesta, but I haven't forgiven them for not giving Skull Taker his due montage of clowning on low tier hunters for his dlc promo.
I wanted to see a poor sod hit a bear trap and get sniped.
RIP Leo Nunez 🪦
I didn't notice the gasmask guy's name at this starting blurb:
Two military scouts have vanished in Louisiana and Colorado. Concerned, Commander Whitlaw attempts to launch a rescue mission, but his request is declined by the military. Defiant, he forms the rogue 26th Regiment. Backed by a mysterious figure known as the Desolation's Delegate, The 26th Regiment marches into the Incursion Zone confident in their training and firepower.
Desolation's Delegate is a very promising name for lore
I rather suspect it could be a rerelease of the Statesman?
Dang they already dropped the new event trailer while the current one is still going on?
I perhaps am misreading it as the uh financial backer.
Also, why is Ned Kelly even here?
It's good. Watch it. Let its essence congeal with your mind.
Another example of historic fiction I guess, but I'll take it over something like Ghostface or Post Malone.
I feel like they might've dropped the ball by not inuniversing a similar but distinct (tm) ironclad. Maybe they thought he was a little obscure for the normies without a real name to search?
ned kelly is aussie highschool history
The blogpost description makes it seem like people are supposed to have an inkling that he's a big deal.
He's basically the one big cowboy legend of Australia
primary school even
hes massive here
I can go see his armour in person at the musuem of melb
This is like having bonnie and clyde or something
ned kelly also somewhat of a national bogan hero
Oh shit 😂 how did I not notice til now
Buddies were getting their ass handed to them in the trailer
The Foxhound arrives with a full set of specialized Legendary Skins, working to harness the power and nightmares of Mother Nature.
Is there any chance that this is very loosely Metal Gear related? Foxhound is a thing in that series right?
It’d be nice if all the former military hunters would get a shout out or a mention, something. Let them teach the new guys how the bayou works
We needed a shot of an army guy stabbing an immolator too
Oh nooo...
I dunno how big Kelly is outside his home turf, I guess. Niche knowledge out here, but... reckon between a Hardin and a Bill Cody.
Uncontested as THE aussie outlaw.
That Trailer is phenomenal, cinematic as all get out
Interested and excited to see all the new lore
Yes
I think that's the gas mask person in the trailer
Idk tho
It's possible that the Delegate is a lore-only character as well, to show up in a following event like Whitlaw did
If so, then we don't have the name of one of the two subordinates
the return of chary, obviously
Silver Spur imo
the imgur gallery of all my old translations by manually ciphering the Dev's voynich Script many months ago
some old translations
The circular text reads as such : Darker days are to come.
The letters translate into AHA
American Hunter's Association. Those three letters might be their symbol or they just like abbreviating their Associations name in Voynich Script.
The blurring letters each have a certain time frame in which they blur out
I checked the way each letter disappears with the timing
It's togetHer salvAtion damnAtion dIe aloNe
TOGETHER SALVATION
Damnation Die Alone...
Now for the text hidden within the websites code in correlation to each picture
The butcher. A deformed animal head of some kind. I can see flesh and teeth and a tortured eye.
The Spider. An arachnid form with long, hairy legs. It appears to be tangled in a web. I cannot see in the darkness if it is dead or alive.
Death. A pile of skulls and bones. I see rib bones and some other parts I do not recognize. What could have created these human remains?
The Hive. A warped photo of this monstrous being. I can see the rough form of a human, but something is bursting from its chest.
The infection takes hold. It takes a human host and from there the darkness spreads. Here it appears to be the form of a woman, something I can’t see is emerging from the body.
I was bored during those days trying to get a good copy of the images from the preview photos so I though of grabbing the coding link for it
Found text hidden in the code as such.
@mellow jetty I require your assistance.
Those old preview photos you found before.
Where are they...
Sigh...
new bones to sort...
Gonna need my pc at home to translate this bugger cuz my cheat sheet is there.
Although I hope someone translates it before me so I don't have to do all the work.
I misplaced all the haitian creole translations in the old discord. I'll look for them later.
Actually...
so as to not spoil the surprise for Deso, DADDYCOOL, and Mister Bri Bri. I'll remove the first picture I posted, revealing the language used.
cool. thanks karen
Lots more of my old work to compile and a puzzle I can;t find the time to finish. XD
Don't thank me just yet. I have yet to finish everything
I am thanking you for what you are doing so far, its awesome of you to help out
HUGS Glad I could help
Here is the desk photo used in the coding.
The video used in the coding as a preview footage banner.
I'll post the close up images I had of the old monsters.
and make some new close up footage for the spider and other beasties shown in the steam trailer.
I can finally get a better look at the Speedy Spooder Spoop.
I forget where this was but here : VIRESCIT VULNERE VIRTUS
Courage becomes greater through a wound!
The text is Voynich Script.
I had to manually Cipher each letter, because the text the preview use has a random cipher, sometimes -4 or +5 in terms of alphabetical movement.
Thanks Karen, I’d started making my own but this helps immensely. Gonna take another look at puzzle 3 again tonight
You're very welcome.
Mornin fellow puzzle solvers
This is hella awesome. Definitely sets us all up. You mentioned wanting something translated, Karen?
No no, not something I need translated.
Rather I'd love it if one of you did it before me.
Assuming that it’s the image of the paper from the desk... any tips on understanding Voynich?
What's up people? I see we got a channel made @lethal finch
Sah dude. Karen had a bunch of stuff from a previous Discord that they dropped in for us. Check that out above. Puts us all hella deep
Mentioned something that they hoped someone might translate if you can start on that. Confused the hell out of me
It’s using the Voynich I believe
Yes! you did it! ❤
How does one simply translate though? It came out to random letters. I’d imagine one might go up so many letters following
@lethal finch part of the fun is figuring it out for yourself! Googling substitution ciphers is likely a good start
@unique frost be sure to send my some lore things if your time is stressed
will be more the glad to decipher
I'll try when I get home.
All the cheat sheets and translation compilations are there. at college atm. XD
xD
enjoy
i remember the giant lore book i had regarding crysis
there were so much hidden lore in that game
god i loved it
❤ XD
@lusty veldt Nein
Google translate does not have voynich as a registered language
Hey hey, anything new translated or still on the page on the hunter’s desk?
So what do you guys think is happening outside the lousiana swamps? Like is the corruption spreading there as well, do they have isolated that whole swamp area etc
HAH
The devs just visited LA and said "hey, I could make a game out of this"
Resident Evil 7 also has Louisiana as location
And I bet a lot of other zombie/disease like games have Louisiana as their location
Video games set in Louisiana according to Wikipedia:
Alone in the Dark (1992 video game)
The House of the Dead: Overkill
Nancy Drew: Legend of the Crystal Skull
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Well, if Tiger Woods is set in Louisiana, then that really must be a dark place
wow, thats one hell of a list.
Yep
sounds like my kind of place to visit 😛
lol
we are heavily influenced by Tiger Woods
@queen sparrow why XD
well I like horror stuff, and seeing as how so much is set there, maybe...just maybe I will get lucky and we'll have a zombie outbreak while I am there 😛
I like horror games but I hate horror ironically.
so not into zombie movies or anything like that?
give me a sniper rifle and a tower
and im good for a zmobie outbreak
and a bottle to take a leak
@hushed zinc and limited ammo HAHAHA
@low ice I thought I saw some hints of it in the E3 video
@hushed zinc but still limited ammunition.
this is about golf
Yes
specifically the Golf War
golf is the new frontier
I once tried a Golf lesson. Couldn't get past the banishing demons part of it. Way too much pressure
@low ice fail to hit the golf ball every swing.
I know right?
the banishing is the most difficult part of golf
let me try to find a song about Golf
Look at Tiger Woods mate, he tried banishing a Swedish demon for years
@low ice just take the golf club and throw it done ^^

you got any idea what s the deal with the butterfly?
in the last pic maq sent?
@low ice is it lore related or just some random animel?
😃
Looks like a cicada
ok so it has a meaning
Or locust like
ONWORDS TO THE LORE
onwards lore people !!! 😄
im intrigued >.>
@unique frost were there any mentions of cicadas or locust of any sort in the pictures you deciphered?
"Cicadas have been featured in literature since the time of Homer's Iliad, and as motifs in art from the Chinese Shang dynasty. They have been used in myths and folklore to represent carefree living and immortality."
There is a monster like thing that was human and body is now a hive
this is heading in a direction im very interested
moar copy paste
Sooooo it probably spews those cicadas
Makes me think of momma from re7
"Cicadas feed on sap; they do not bite or sting in a true sense, but may occasionally mistake a person's arm for a plant limb and attempt to feed."
Not sure its the basis of a creepy hive monster 😄
obvs
"Cicadas are featured in the well-known protest song "Como La Cigarra" ("Like the Cicada") written by the Argentinian poet and composer, María Elena Walsh. In the song, the cicada is a symbol of survival and defiance against death. "
cicadas are p deep, never knew until now
The cicada is an ancient polyvalent symbol: resounding themes are resurrection, immortality, spiritual realization and spiritual ecstasy. For the ancient Greeks and Romans they sang in intoxicated ecstasy and were sacred to Apollo and cognate with the dionysiac bacchae and maenad.
im getting a vibe that the monsters were humen based
like somtihng happend
and cicadas were used to transfer it or atleasthad a part in it?
spooky o.o
Could be
Oh i hope not, cicadas are chill lil bugs
nuh uh
i bet @low ice i just sitting and reading the comments and laughing his ass on how far out we are
I know
@mortal cradle amen brother
how much you wanna bet
It was sarcasm
Lol
well atleast we know they have a meaning
they wouldnt make a giant ass poster
for no reason
things without meaning are probably accidental
I hope xd
but there IS a consistent setting and world story
and we're trying to make sure nothing's random
absoulutly
I can already feel the immersion soaking in
im more interested in whats the main idea here because if we find patient 0 or the core of the matter
we can expand alot from there
Probably is no end game. We are part of a secret society doing gods work
ive been thinking about it
Bag 1 bad bitch another takes its place
"The specimen is in an extremely detiorated condition. The skin seems to have developed an unusual layer of chitonic crust making it exceedingly difficult to go ahead with a proper incision. A different form of the same creature perhaps?"
mutation?
s p o o k
He knew he would die that night. He's in hell now.
if you get bitten
you die?
maybe?
Hmmm
Face off against unearthly horrors in the forgotten corners of the world. In Crytek's new game you will hunt together, but you will die alone.
ooh
the last sentence in realy weird
Or have to find item during hunt to cure ut?
i like the desk, interesting o:
maybe if you get killed by a creature
