I still think mechanically it will be a rework of the existing spider boss. Which I welcome. The spider has been janky since it was introduced so... forever. I'd find two spider themed bosses a strange decision.

I try not to think too hard about Lynch being involved. It would be cool. But I'd rather not have her explained. I firmly believe that stories need their mysteries. We all knew that we'd see the Kessel Run in the Solo Movie. And we knew from the first announcement that it would never be as cool as anything we came up with in our heads.

Have any of the other bosses been reworked? If so, I guess it’s possible but my guess is it’s something new. Not another spider boss but something else. I mean, I have seen The Butcher with a pumpkin on his head so there is a possibility of some type of rework.

No there hasn't been a rework yet. But I expected one with the 2.0 release. Rain was also packaged into an event because they had to work on it first. I am not saying you're wrong. I'd just find it a bit strange to theme two bosses around the same creepy crawly

I keep reading about those in the official site lore entries, but don1t know exactly who they are

Finch ran the AHA for a time after Huff was killed. He later was drowned by Chary. Lynch was a seemingly supernatural entity or a normal woman that developed a new type of serum to protect hunters from the corruption, it also had some negative side effects that would vary based on the person

Lynch also created the drowned and may or may not travel the land of the dead

Depends on how canonical we think the dime novels are

Or if we believe Circe/the witch hunter

I'm really curious to see the proper anatomy sketch underneath this one. It looks to be the same professional anatomy study that someone did for the stalker beetle, voynich included. It makes me think that Harold Black does these rough sketches during his field research while the entomologist that discovered the stalker beetles, Harriet, does the advanced studies.

The patagium is the most interesting part. It's a thin membrane that animals like bats use to glide. It's mostly a mammalian thing, though some lizards and frogs have an analogous feature. The spiderling might use it to have finer control in dropping on prey

It does seem like an interesting choice for a new creature, but at the same time I can kind of see the vision here. Evidently there are two major things I've come to notice about it and those two things are that this new creature is obviously some sort of arachnid and it seems to heavily rely on poison and or venom to attack prey. Ideally because of those two factors the name "Bileweaver" appears to be appropriate here.

That's something I can attest to. I'm fortunate enough not to have Arachnophobia myself, but I have fears and anxiety about some other things and it's more beneficial to put your thoughts and mind out of it than it is to focus on it.

So I rewatched the teaser showing off the new monster and I have some ideas on how it's going to work

Based on these scenes I think the special compound is going to be some kind of underground cave/burrow that serves as the nest for the Bileweaver

And those orange things are going to be like egg sacks from which the Bileweavers emerge when triggered perhaps by sound.

Sort of like those snake traps from the Serpents Moon update but insteadof a snake biting you a giant fucking spider emerges from them.

I think then the lore behind this is that these spiders are Lynch's weapon against the corruption

The researchers speculated that the Spider's purpose was to eliminate aspects of the sculptor that it has lost control over or gone bad. The Sculptor has an affinity for insects, and they are the primary vector for spreading it's corruption. Assuming these are lynch's creation it would make sense to chose a spider to serve as her weapon against the sculptor.

That said other possible origins could exist: these could have been ordinary spiders that consumed insects carrying the sculptor's corruption and been themselves corrupted into the monstrosities they are now.

The Waterdevils were corrupted blood worms, Rotjaw a corrupted alligator, and the hell hounds corrupted dogs perhaps these spiders are merely corrupted spiders

I do think the scales were kinda tipped in the Fool's favor, the contest is seemingly predicated on which skin people want to win. Bornheim Silencer and Mosin-Nagant are both more sought after than New Army and Lebel Aperture.

Interestingly, it didn't go that way when the better skin was on the Fool's side but there was no option to play as a free hunter. People who have paid for skins prefer Team Judge

The mention of a tarot deck unlike any other was the one part that stands out to me, it gives a potential throughline if Web of the Empress kickstarts lore again alongside the tarot introduction.
I've fully bought into the idea that the last four events are all connected by Lynch spinning webs of intrigue in the background.

It's more that it feels undeserved. He got knocked out in a surprise attack and executed by criminals for pursuing twisted justice. There's no feeling of restitution as there's no innocent victims of the Judge - if there are, we weren't shown them. Every example of his justice seemed well deserved.
If the Fool was executed, it would be closing the book on an ugly chapter, giving justice to the townsfolk that he poisoned. This ending just leaves things wide open for The Fool to continue hurting others. Which fits with how things keep getting worse in the Incursions.

We could use a little more of the opposite extreme. Judgement of the Fool has been the most southern gothic thing to happen to Hunt in years. Welders and Witches, Murder Circuses, pumpkin people, Colorado oil. A simple twisted criminal vs twisted lawman theme is so refreshing in comparison.

I remember Hardin telling Felis in desolation's wake that there can't be any more Demented and that Hunters need to be held accountable for their actions. I don't believe Felis and by extension the Primal entirely disagree with that notion because in a way both the Primal and Lawful believe in a certain concept of order, but they're drastically differing concepts since one is more based on civility and the other is more based on instinct.

I'm also not entirely sure if I believe this spider lady is just another Demented scenario or if it's something completely new. Personally I'd prefer it to be the latter since the whole Demented thing is kind of overplayed by this point and some of the inclusions to the Demented like Cowl replacing Cleaver as their leader pretty much went nowhere.

The first immolator was caused by righteous fury, the Hellborn by similarly strong emotions, guilt mixed with righteous fury at what Damon was tricked into doing. Mini-Immos would have to be transformed by an extreme emotion, something beyond suffering that engulfs the victim. Children burning horribly at the hands of Hardin or someone else is almost enough but narratively it feels like they're missing the element of righteous fury in almost having the ability to do something about it but losing it at the hands of evil, the transformation giving them the power to change but also stripping the reason they needed power.

It also seems unlikely that Crytek would want to design a third immo. The hellborn fits with Mammon's Gulch but kid immos on every map wouldn't have as much reason to exist

These four bosses are a more specialized influence of the sculptor(the big bad) than just grunts, and he gets a power up while they are alive(generalizing here). He, also, revives them when they are killed, but that distracts him from other matters, so there is only one of a kind for each boss, but they don't stay dead

The idea is that the government is partially aware of what's going on, but the areas it is happening in are so unimportant and the bounties taken from them so valuable that they allow it to happen to a degree. The Louisiana governor for instance doesn't know, and just treats talk of the corruption as rumors of the idle poor. It mirrors how some states handled things like the yellow fever forever ago.
The parts of the government that do know, statesmen and judges and the like, are paying for bounty tokens to be extracted to them for the sake of occult rituals, experiments and who knows what else, all working together in some kind of shadowy cabal. Sheriff Hardin described them as "...the people paying out Bounties. I heard they beat Death at poker and got all the secrets of the world in their pockets."
