Another positive note on the progression hunters: I like how some of them have a specialty. Jane Eddings is a sharpshooter, Joan Damon uses a shotgun, Laura Gottschalk is a pistoleer, Oliver Whitman a blademaster. It's a good setup for cosplay loadouts.

Very true although I like it when they elaborate more on what guns they use like with Hardin he has a Vetterli and a LeMat

But I guess keeping it unanimous would allow for a wider range of cosplay potential for your loadout which I can also respect

Either way the new progression hunters are one of the few good things to come from this mess

The extra nice thing about agnostic skins is that they're hardly padding the battlepass. Even if you count each skin pack as 1 skin, there's 18 total skins added to the BP, beating out Harvest of Ghost's 15 and Scorched Earth's 12

The same skin for all variants of a weapon is kind of cool but it’s the same principle as the recycled skins maybe even a bit worse if you think k about it

After playing it I've noticed a few changes here and there but overall Lawson feels mostly the same and I'm assuming DeSalle will be more or less the same as well when we eventually do get it back. That's because as maps Lawson and DeSalle were newer than Stillwater so evidently Stillwater had a lot more work done with it being the older of the maps.

I'm just glad to have Lawson back although I'd prefer if I got to play it a little more because I'm mostly still getting Gulch and Stillwater.

Certain compounds like Blanchett, Scupper and Lockbay received the most changes.

While other compounds like Alice and Darrow felt the same.

blanchett got a HUGE change, lockbay was a little, and scupper was like, basically nothing, they were nice changes, but one of the most unfun compounds in the whole game pitching, got basically no work on it, same with stillwater

im not saying they did 0, im just saying if you compare lawson vs stillwater, they helped with way more problem compounds

Lockbay had more rooftop access which was pretty huge for that compound, Blanchett had two rooms changed a bit and another entrance added to the main building. Scupper had some minor patches of land added here and there leading up to the main building for better accessibility.

I've notcied when they're changing these maps they appear to have better overall accessibility in mind which is very good.

Like I said my only major gripe is that I am unable to actually take the time to learn these new access points in the compounds because I'm not getting Lawson in my rotation very much. I talked last night with a newer random player I was playing with and he said more or less the same on how frustrating it can be to try and learn the maps but not being able to play them enough to actually learn anything. It just means that you'll have to pay extra attention to what you're doing and where you're going as a new player which I personally don't think should be necessary. While yes, I do think it's important to be observant of your surroundings in a game but it's also difficult to be aware of your surroundings when you have to think about where you're actually going. It's not as big of an issue for old players or even returning veterans but I think this issue can tie into the problem some newer players have with getting into the game.

for sure, but we dont want compounds to be simple and unfun for players who learn the maps, because it makes new players have a harder time to learn stuff, we all went through it, just gotta learn the maps, as best as you can

I'm not entirely sure how they could go about making a change to remedy this problem but I've had people suggest some kind of map vote before matches to determine which map players will be playing on. I've also had people suggest that similarly to how you can do the tutorial and enter the shooting range that we should be able to enter an empty lobby with the full map just so we can walk around and explore. There wouldn't be any AI, bosses or sound traps either it would just be an empty map with all the compounds so new players can get a feel for the maps so they can easily traverse them in an actual match with other players.

I really do like how they appear to be focusing on accessibility, especially for newer players but I think part of that incentive should be focused on making it easier for newer players to explore and learn the maps to be better effective when it really matters.

What I find interesting is that we see Mountain man here opposing the lawful pact but later on in the Scorched Earth event he approaches and recognizes Marshall Brewer as a friend of sorts.

Whatever the case may be it seems clear to me that Mountain man is not Primal pact but indeed Wilderness pact. Though, it may be apparent that the Primal and Wilderness pacts do share some similarities in purpose and goal just like how the Grounded and Wilderness pacts probably do too.

Rereading Desolations wake makes me really pissed off we're probably never going to see a proper conclusion to the events set up in Scortched Earth

Who knows maybe Post Malone's murder circus and that Helio stone will somehow tie into Lynch and the Bounties and the Hellspawn... but I kinda doubt it

The only connection I can see is a circus was mentioned in Desolation's Wake and low and behold a circus appears now. And the only narrative we've gotten out of it is a two minute trailer where we're told nothing.

A dwarf gave Post Malone the helio stone and it turned half the circus into monsters.

That is the extent of the story content we've gotten since Scortched Earth

Here's how I'd see it working; you'd spawn in as the boss of your choosing and your job would be to defend yourself and your territory from hunters trying to collect a bounty while the hunters are also killing each other for the bounty. If you manage to successfully defend and avoid being slain and banished by hunters you would instead recieve the bounty reward after the match has concluded. It would be the same reward you would usually get for finding, killing and banishing a single boss target with two tokens.

So basically a normal bounty hunt match but the boss or bosses will be piloted by real players trying to also win the match.

I could see Rotjaw being sneaky because alligators are ambush predators by nature but other bosses like Hellborn who are just out in the open would be difficult to do because Hellborn doesn't even have that much health so all it would take is a single big dynamite bundle to kill you.

Other bosses like Assassin and Spider could work too but Butcher and Scrapbeak would be more difficult. Even though they're tanking and inside the confines of a building they're still exposed most of the time and can easily be overwhelmed and taken out by a coordinated team of hunters.
