Gotta figure its something between a symbol for the rule of two / three, ye? Whether its read like a bird's claw, two skulls, or three, it kinda covers the possible team set ups.
Like how the Hunt Crosses are related to the old Rule of Two

If you look closely it looks like 3 bird skulls (possibly Finch or crow) fused together. You can even see the 3 sets of nares on the nostrils of the bird.
Exactly the same as the tier 3
Yeah, I'm seeing it now
Finally my extensive hyper fixation on the research of avians has paid off
Now hit me with a Herpetology question next!
What specific reptile aspect of rotjaw makes her such a good girl
Literally everything

the idea of the Rotjaw being treated more like a precious princess than a destructive boss monster breathes positivity into my lungs, I love this
shes baby, sure she brings weird weather and ghost ships, but shes just a little creechur
she's the girl we all need in these trying, apocalyptic times in the year of our lord 1896
absolutely, gameplay wise but she kinda makes me sad, but everytime i saw her im always like :o pwincess!!!
i need to be able to feed her even if she doesnt like me i dont wanna MURDER
she's an endangered species after all so she's definitely precious
the last alligator in the bayou with special stamina sapping lightning powers
good thing shes immortal, cant go extinct
is that why the bosses are killable over and over again?
something something when banished they go back to the land of the dead and the sculptor makes them reappear where they're needed or something
Yee, it's banishment, not execution
We basically just tell them "dude, just get out of here, you stink"
Well I know that it's not execution, if you go through them over and over
Rasputin comes to mind
even if you chop em up, the sculptor just makes a new one somehow, i forget if the origional soul is in all of them, a piece of it, or if its just an imitation, but i dont wanna consider this bc that means rotjaw remembers everytime shes been killed :(
This is why I want a passive mode in the shooting range where I can just PAT her
Pig đˇ and Bee đ referenced in the story are definitely Butcherâs Cleaver and The Beekeeper.
Alpacalix over here making it rain on the gator
not the other way around lol
I have... weird images in my mind now...
I'm reassured.
Wasnt the Butcher killed for fucking up Devil's Moon?
Or just ousted
Tide of desolation he got eaten by beetles yeah
Dude butcher gets a deathcheat but my girl Gar is still napping in the LotD
I cant
And she was TRYING TO
Unless its just a "hunters brought back bc sculptor's statues exploded"
Also, I dont see how the Bee ISNT Beekeeper, but she nor butcher have a boost for the event.
It Aint a rule that characters in the stories always have a boost but its Odd that The Cowel does but they dont
Though Im only halfway, maybe he makes an appearance I havent read yet
Also, side note: Hellborn's real name is ||Delacroix?||
This is good. Not "Princess" good, but this is good.
And besmerch the name of the good man shoved down into a fire hole? Lol
True
Also curious what exactly the ||"Finch's Lullaby"|| is exactly, and how it gets evil magic oil flowing again
The lore of this game is so deep, like drowning water.
I unlocked that entry last night, but all they gave was hellbornes original name, not why or how he became hellborne. I did think it was cool Hayili or however you say it, helped keep the Researcher alive. "You were in Louisiana Hunt too? I got you fam, let's get you outta here." đ¤Ł
Yeah I thought that was cool too. Unusual alliances and temporary friendships during conflicts are always interesting.
Now hope they someday capitalize on all these small interactions and characters crossing paths to create some good juicy lore
Did anyone snag the lore text for the Grotesque pair?
Yup, way up here #lore-discussion message
Ah, ty. Oh they are the same dude... strange.
Alright, just got done with chapter 12, and DAMN that was a good performance. The acting this time around has been fantastic, from HayalĂŽ especially
Three easter eggs discovered:
First one: Terminus Railyard: ||In the southernmost building, on the eastern side is a large tub of blood and guts. A doll is bathing in it with a duck.||
Wow, me
Second one: East Mountain Corn: ||In the southwest white building, in the southernmost room, there is a hidden room barricaded by a bookshelf. There's a manniquin holding a hat-stick peeking out||
Third one: Miner's Folly: ||In the general store south of the hotel, on the front counter, there is a tin that says "Narrator & Stanley, Paraguay - Allspice." Is this a reference to The Stanley Parable?||
Does anyone know what the neat looking weird lettering on the Enigma and empty cairn skin is?
The mountie has some of it written on his coat, hat and gloves as well.
Likely Rai has it translated on the Compendium
first pinned doc in this channel
Sorry, weapons are second pinned doc
Enigma has the same Voynich 101 lettering as Swamp Peach, which translates to an Omar Khayyam quote: "No one has seen Heaven or Hell, O heart of mine; Who, say you, has come from that realm, O heart of mine? Our hopes and fears are pinned to that to which, Save a name and notion, we can naught else assign"
I believe some other places may also repeat this quote such as the coat on the Night Seer and Night Acolyte but I haven't looked too closely at them.
Empty Cairn's markings appear to just be gibberish. Similarly, there are a lot of alchemical/hermetic markings on the Mountie, even under his hat, that don't mean anything. The Voynich lettering on his coat may be the same Omar quote, or it may just be full lines straight from the Voynich Manuscript, which has never been properly translated. I suspect that's what the 3D artists did for the shooting range dummies as well.
If we could get a 3D viewer for hunters like we have for guns it's something I'd love to dive into deeper.
Nice, thank you for that.
Ok so I am a lil confused
There is mention of people working for Finch but how the hell can that be Finch by this point would be mega dead Chary killed his ass in either desolation wake or tides of corruption
So was preston and a couple these other dudes just like acolytes of his?
Still makes zero sense since Finch was a weird naturalist/environmentalist so its kinda weird for him to be paling around with Oil Tycoons especially Preston who seems like he is the Lovecraftian Daniel Plainview
They only make mention of a ritual with his name. It could be something that was created and disseminated, or it could be named after him but not related to him.
Beyond that, Finch was an administrator of the AHA, that means he'd definitely be rubbing shoulders with all kinds of rich and powerful people as he's assisting with business contracts and potentially selling bounties.
"Journal of James Byrne" implies that Finch is very well off financially. "From the Journals of Elwood Finch" implies that as AHA administrator he's paying hunters for killed monsters, and he pays better than many others. "Devil's Moon chapter 14" has him saying that 'others' are paying bounties, implying the AHA was in charge of that before (and they were potentially forwarding the bounties to these rich occultists). "Leander Coetzee Interview" confirms he definitely pays the wages of AHA agents who aren't going out into the bayou, and "Bad as they Seem" has Lynch introduce the twins to "Superintendents, government men, captains", which further reinforces that the AHA was well connected with influential people.
Right and if memory serves Finch got his money from discovering species in the Amazon
Personally I kinda want them to talk abit more about the NYC based AHA cause that is where the Witch Hunter and a ton of others honestly some of the most frightening and cold calculated hunters came from NYC it seems
I will say they left Chary kinda open ended if he is dead or not...
Do you have a source for the amazon thing? I can't find it quickly in my notes
Uhhhhh lemme see if I can find it
I want to think maybe either Serpents Moon or the one before it had a blurb where Chary mentions that Finch found riches in the Amazon and all the old money wanted to goto the Amazon to see the wonderful creatures
It kind of implyed Finch started doing like steamboat tours down the amazon for like stupid amounts of money
Or Finch was swindling
I guess it was on whos point of view you wanted to see it from
I mean we know Chary hated Finchs guts
And most of that was because Chary was like super ambitious and completely obsessed with the occult to the point of coming off unhinged to people who knew
Again it was pretty well stated Finch was a Natrualist and didn't want to mess with the occult to much because it was more then they understood and could upset the balance of the natural world
aka Finch was a 1800s hippie xD
We also know like 1000% Chary new about occult shit WAY more then he let on
I feel like I'm going nuts cause I have no idea where you're getting that naturalist stuff from. My whole compendium has no mention of the amazon nor is it implied in any story that Finch gets mentioned in. Serpent moon has Chary just say "I have to stay on Finch's good side for now" and that's it.
Have you found hatfish yet? I only found him once but I'm sure he's someplace else too.
After spending much too long on searching for this I'm convinced this is a Mandela Effect thing. Nobody in lore discussion in the last 5 years has ever mentioned Finch exploring and discovering species / giving tours in far off places.
Yeah, he's got his drinking buddy now đ I've only seen him there, dunno if he's meant to be in two places or anything.
Weird thing though, the box on the other side of that corpse says 'Veterinary Laxative Oil'.
If he disappears from that spot, we're gonna have to search every outhouse in the maps.
I wonder if heâll still be on desalle when we get the map back. He used to be just north of the prison
He's only ever been in one spot at a time as far as I've seen. He was in a boat north of the prison in Update 1.12, then moved to the Upper DeSalle basement in Update 1.14.
Pretty sure its just one place, after all there are many catfish but only one hatfish
It moved location in some updates on the old maps but only one per map afaik
Does anyone know how to view specific hunter lore in game if you already own them? I miss those flavor text's
Currently it's impossible. Hopefully that gets fixed with upcoming UI updates, but so far it hasn't been mentioned by Crytek.
The compendium in the pinned comments has all the bios for reading up on, but they really oughta get put back in the game.
Can someone explain what lore means is it talking about the story since the beginning of the game
It's both the story that takes place, and general in-universe details. It encompasses the whole body of knowledge of the Hunt universe.
I got in touch with one of the environment artists on reddit and found out the names of the striking workers at Gasworks:
Andrea Verdi, Cesar Idar, and Franklin Leicester.
Artists or random names?
Random names I believe, none of them are remotely close to the list of inmates at Nicholls Prison and quick searches don't turn up anything
New characters then?
Mr O'Donovan, more like O'Donobad, amirite ?
Ah hell yeah, clean, legible Hunt Voynich
Sorry for the picture quality lol, itâs a picture of my TV đ hadnât seen anyone mention this, so I thought Iâd post it :]
Nothing too special, just repeating common challenges. Good flavor for a background.
Huh. Neat! Thank you, I was curious.
I still can't get over how close that city in the distance is to the corruption. Then again maybe NOLA was that close to Stillwater and Desalle.... Idk just seems a little close for only the AHA to know whats going on
Like that is less than a day's ride away (horse or donkey presumably) from Mammons Gulch
I haven't read the event lore yet so maybe this is addressed but it wouldn't surprise me if the city has been evacuated under some other pretenses, like dangerous pollution
dark souls easter egg near Deadfall timber?
What makes it dark souls?
It kind of looks like a sword sticking out of a campfire
I found that campfire I was talking about, if it ever amounts to anything
If one of those nearby saws was sticking out of it I'd say it's a reference, as is, just looks like a campfire
I guess that one stick with the single splinter coming out of it is just an error and nothing important
Normally they're very obvious with their references, ye
can you tell me what this is? It's on Lawson delta too but without the "antlers"
It's actually a 19th century Transformer. "Haymaker"
Haymade
i'm haydone
Not untill i haymake you
The Hay God. Bring the Beekeeper to him.
Oh I figured it was a nod to Minecraft block people
just unlocked the lore entry about foi gras-ing bounty tokens into people, shoving them into metal tubes, and sticking them down oil bore holes. jesus christ
Now that is a real nice detail. I'm excited to see what kind of hunter wields the gun
Yeah Iâm really into the gun
im hoping so bad the hunter is my type, and that people play them bc the gun is so cool
Is this another twitch streamer gun?
maybe!
I'm excited. Love the mako
I like the Mako too but the krag seems to outshine it in every way the krag is also cheaper than the Mako which doesn't make sense at all
Do you think weâll see Lynch in the game eventually?
I hope so
levering is its reason, with the buff its good now
all our bosses are monsterous so far, idk how theyd do it, but could be cool
i just wanna see more of her, and just lore in general
like im more interested in how the hellborn exists then the fight itself
she's a witch so it's possible she gets more monstery
new hag boss when
Omg I can imagine her being like a Hagraven from Skyrim
Some bird witchy boss lady with cool magic similar to Rotjaw's lightning
that def could be cool, i never understood her relationship with the sculptor, so itd be cool to see why shes being brought back, or maybe she goes mad and thats why shes fighting who knows
Chary has a lot of potential too and also seemingly has a connection to the Sculptor
I also still don't 100% know if he's deceased or not
like star wars if you dont see him dead he may return
on a related note, im so sad prodigal didnt kill finch
i was so excited for one lone sparks shot or smth to get him before chary did
but sofia doing what she did made up for it. a little
Vampire bat boss in the mines, when
Itâs worse, we see them dead then they come back anyway
This could be a really great way to introduce an actual roaming target that flies around
Zombies....
Grunts aren't exactly zombies they're so much worse
They're locked in iirc, the people are still awake and aware of what the body is doing
Yeah they're still completely conscious and aware of who they were and what they are now
It's very similar to how the headcrab parasite works in Half-life or the Flood in Halo
The pain and suffering you experience as a grunt must be unimaginable
Yeah, the grunt mastery is very creepy
Do you guys think the vitality shots in Hunt Showdown are canonically addictive?
Considering youâre constantly injecting yourself with various chemicals like a heroine addict
Could be, I bet there's some real powerful morphine or opium in em.
I think the stamina shots would be more addictive though
Yeah thatâs what I was going to say lol
Stamina shots are probably just straight up stimulants
1890âs stimulants no less
Back then cocaine was legal and considered normal
Maybe the Reverend had the right idea with diluting his vitality shots with Holy Water after all
I have a theory that a lot of hunters keep doing contracts to get more money to fuel their addiction to the shots theyâre constantly taking
There was something like that about the rifts, how they're exhilirating to use or something
I completed the Battle Pass on PS5 this morning. The story for Scorched Earth is absolutely incredible. The voice acting was top-notch and the surprising details were enlightening and intriguing.
Are they going to bring back the monster book?
eventually? if crytek feels like it
i think were more likely to get the hunter bios than the books
in a world full of zombies and monsters why do the hunters hunt eachother too?
Because much like our own world, the alternate historical world of Hunt Showdown is filled with endless greed and strife
Because why should I split that bounty with you, when I can have all of it for myself?

Even the new boss, the Hellborn, is a direct result of the hatred and greed buried deep within every human being.
so the monsters arent a threat to humanity tjeyre a commodity to be farmed
the government should get involved and raffle tickets for the monsters
then hunters wouldn't have to fight over the bounty
then u hunt illegal monster poachers
i belive they do pose a threat but for a good while they held it in the bayous but shit happened man
They are like algae
Useful in small quantities, but if we let them roam we are so joever
It's like not stopping a gas leak because you get high on the gas
Small quantities maybe ok, but you're living on the edge for a less than reasonable motive
Basically, monsters themselves aren't the threat, it's the vibes of them that are
And humans are much bigger threats to monsters that spread that vibe
Eldritch gods be invading earth to farm us for points, or whatever, and we humans are greedily rubbing our hands together getting ready to prosper off their corpse
Classic blunder on their part, honestly
Does the infection in Hunt showdown have a name?
it's been called the corruption more recently
Ah cool
I think I like that term for it better than an actual defined name like other games do such as resident evil with the T virus or Last of us with the Cordyceps fungus. Simply referring to it as the corruption allows it to be more open ended since the corruption in Hunt showdown is a lot more than just generic zombies.
That, and it reinforces the setting and the era. No lab grown viruses, shit is happening and we don't fully know why. Grab a gun.
Yeah it's all mysterious and you're basically stepping into unknown territory completely blind
That's why you got hunters like Harold doing what they can to research and learn because knowledge over a nameless enemy is ultimately your strongest weapon.
The pacts are basically groups doing what they can to either fix or take advantage of the crisis. It's like fallout where everyone wants to do something about the current state of things but have drastically different and often conflicting ideas about doing it.
everyone wants to do SOMETHING but knoone knows what to do
Weird connection: the Hellraiser easter egg looks just like the Skull Effigy weapon charm
Dumbest thing I talked about in person in game, do y'all think the hunters have a "pizza party" like thing after a rough week of hunting. Like imagine you saw your buddy Bob get eaten by a demonic alligator and hardson just gives you a pizza and a pat on the back
In the sense of literally eating pizza, not really. While it had already been invented in Naples in the 1800s, it wouldn't reach America until the 1900s - the first published mention of pizza in America was 1904 and the first pizzeria in 1905 - and it didn't become rather popular until the 1930s and onward.
Given how global hunters are, it's possible there's like one guy in the AHA that's serving flatbread pizzas to people, but it'd be a real rare thing.
In another area, Hunters would absolutely be drinking Coca-Cola together.
THEY COULD HAVE REASONABLY GOTTEN A NICE COLD DR PEPPER ON THE WAY WEST
IN THIS ESSAY I WILLâ
Still with the cocaine in it too I bet
I bet Scaramuccia makes a baller pizza
Hawkshaw Jack and Private eye are both from New york so maybe they could make a New york style or a deep dish style
the stamina shots are just the old coke formula
IDK why I expected this amount of effort from my rambling but I love it
No wonder redshirt survived so long in the bayou
That actually begs the question if some hunters who undergo the procedure and take the injection are immune to the negative effects of substances like Methamphetamine.
Hunters are able to take more than a single shot to the chest from a round like 7.62x54 which is what something like a Mosin would be chambered in
Smalls taken out by Nixa
would be cool to have some zombie mobility update followed by shaper lore about him giving unholy blessings to his lowest creatures. not speed but parkor abilities.
We need a bear boss that roams
The bear from Bear Tooth back for revenge
And continue on as if nothing happened, dudes must be on a crazy cocktail of painkillers and stimulants
Have they explained why we are in Colorado?
Mostly, the exact details of how the Sculptor enters an area is still vague but the event story explains one theory of how the corruption spread.
There be monsters to hunt
Is Preston one of the benefactors mentioned in desolation's wake?
Providing the supplies to help hunters curb the corruption in the bayou so he could bring them to colorado?
Or does it seem more like he merely knows them? What about delacroix?
I'm surprised The Statesman hasn't made an appearance for the sudden new corruption area popping up?
Perhaps he's on the incoming train prepping for the next event in Mammon's or probably scheming on the swamps due to the revamp of the 3 old maps.
Or he's had enough hunting in the bayou
I like the idea he just done with this shit and pissed he had to go from dirty bayou to dirty caves lol
also wondering, what the lore behind the new boss. God i miss the book of monsters more and more-
Fair, just wished they kept the books because it made it easier to read the lore. Hell i kill for a book of lore on the world tbh in game
Now I love to see a video on the first poor saps to meet the hellborn boss. I recall when I first met it, i didn't find it, it found me on god-
Idk if current event stories should be spoilered but I'll do it anyways, my impression is that ||Delacroix, who seems to either be one of the powerful backers making bank from Mammon's Gulch, or merely working for them, might have turned into the hellborn when he was shoved full of bounties, crushed, and dropped deep into the ground for the ritual to make more oil lmao||
pfff these dudes and there cash man-
MF I am fighting a alligator and gaint spider with a bat and only getting 18 a hour, stop making my job worse lol
said some poor hunter
Lmao
being a hunter is like working a 9-5, bosses are evil, coworkers might back stab you and gotta deal with horrors unknonw
Surely your coworkers shooting you in the face would be an OSHA violation
New Hunter: The OSHA Manger.
imma be real that's not the worse thing they could add into hunt showdown.
I keep forgetting/wondering what happens to the retired Hunters, like I doubt it's all sunshine
retirement is probably when they take hunter blood to inoculate the next hunter in the bloodline
Ngl I thought Preston from the event story was the Statesman but I can't remember if we know the Statesman's real name.
My assumption that Preston was the Statesman stems from the fact that both Preston and the Statesman are wealthy individuals with friends in high places and in one of the chapters for this event it talks about Preston dressing down and presenting himself to be less formal and how Brewer is unimpressed with his thrifty display. The Statesman also dresses nicely according to his hunter model and description.
The only real difference I can find between this Preston fella and the Statesman is that the Statesman isn't afraid to brandish some big iron and do what needs doing whereas Preston appears to believe that the bounty system and hunters are better suited to do that sort of thing.
I donât think Preston is the statesman
They would have said as much if he wasâ plus imo the statesman was the person the backers sent down to recruit whereas Preston seemed to actually be part of the in group for them
That's true, I also forgot to mention that they refer to Preston as "the boss" but last event it made it seem like Statesman and Hardin were on equal standing and being partners instead of having a superior and subordinate dynamic.
Statesman is also a politician rather than an oil baron
Alongside this, The Statesman should also make a move, oil is a LOT of MONEY, probably stop the corruption because a lot of the corruption is losing them OIL MONEY.
I haven't unlocked all the stories but I think Preston is gonna get tangled soon with The Statesman.
I also remembered that train tracks we're also blown off by Preston to reduce easy access, so probably The Statesman is gonna get deployed via aerial transport like a hot air balloon or thru the extract boat.
The corruption is there because of human greed like Preston's and its only gotten worse with all the hunters arriving and killing each other with equally greedy intentions as Preston.
In the reveal trailer, Mountain man says he knew Mammon's gulch before it had a name and that it's been transformed into "dog eating dog, man killing man land." Harold black says the "corruption is in full bloom here."
The new wild target is like Demon of hatred from Sekiro, it is a physical manifestation of human greed and hatred.
could someone do a TLDR about the reason we have egyptian stuff in hunt?
i found an egyptian box + a dead rat in front of it in Miner's folly
Where exactly in Miner's Folly was it?
It might be related to the Shroud character and how she was a grave robber that got cursed by pharaohs, or it might just be an easter egg
Oh those are chinese or japanese I think.
I'll get a spyglass, take some screenshots, and run it through google's image translation. It's definitely an easter egg of some kind
Nice find!
damn now that you mention that it definetely look asian tea box
i'm stoopid lol
let me know I'm curious ! đ
Hmm I guess it's not an easter egg after all, just one of the props in that place. There are three or four larger tins in that store that I don't think you can find anywhere else.
The top says "The Name Davant Means Quality - since 1760" while the characters translate to 'famous tea' in Chinese.
Is the âpigâ and âbeeâ the Butchers cleaver and beekeeper?
Really seems like it
@real cedar ah thanks for looking into!
Sorry, if it's not Hunt lore, but can you please tell what's this machine called and what it's doing? I googled and can't find the info. Thank you!
It looks like an alcohol distiller
It's a steam donkey, used in logging.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_donkey
A steam donkey or donkey engine is a steam-powered winch once widely used in logging, mining, maritime, and other industrial applications.
Steam-powered donkeys were commonly found on large metal-hulled multi-masted cargo vessels in the later decades of the Age of Sail on through the Age of Steam, particularly heavily sailed skeleton-crewed wind...
Thank you so much!
This isn't egyptian stuff
So i was told
I believe the top hieroglyph translates to "teapot"
can someone tell me about what happened in 1977
supposedly there was graffiti of the aha spray painted on a wall and researched
and according to the scrapbook found in the early versions of hunt, the person conducting the research went missing
i thought the aha fell apart. are they somehow active and reorganized in 1977?
I believe that early lore has been retconned
what??? it was so good
but also it's not the entire AHA that fell apart but the louisana branch
in the mako lore the witch hunter mentions sending letters to the NY branch of the AHA and that's placed around the time of desolation's wake, well after the louisiana branch fell apart
i thought hunters were killing each other because the aha fell apart
hunters have been killing each other since before the AHA fell apart
makes sense
so you mean to tell me the Louisiana event lore is gone?
isnât apart of current lore anymore?
hasn't been part of it for years now
I don't believe we have a firm answer, we have a few early accounts but nothing showcasing the root cause
that's for louisiana at least
for colorado it seems to be directly tied to people trying to restore the oil wells by feeding people bounty tokens and sending them down oil wells and the general greed there
from what i understand the sculptor was apart of hunts early lore and was still documented in later years of the game?
the sculptor still exists
we know very little abt its motivations or how it operates
but it's still the main force behind everything
but shouldnât that still confirm hunts early lore if itâs still exists now?
no
the louisiana event has been retconned but the core basis of the game is still centered around the idea of the sculptor causing the infection and the hunters competing for the bounties to try and fight it back
I like to think the old lore is still canon till contradicted
Most of it still makes sense
i think it does too even with contradictions
hunts lore is a collection of documents and manuscripts
gathered modern day
research is always bound to contradict
so in a way i believe everything is canon despite any contradictions made at any point in time
you can do that but also understand that those threads established in the louisiana event will likely never be followed up on as the LE stuff was removed from the game very early on and replaced with the book of weapons/monsters and events which follow each other closely
we're currently in limbo in terms of what will be happening with the lore going forward anyway tbh
itâs just so disappointing
early hunt lore was very good
used real people and real places
the usage of real people has led to some discussion on controveries which is likely why that was stapped back
yeah but what isnât controversial nowadays
late 1800s and slavers
thatâs just history
there's a lot that isn't controversial, and creating original characters to fill narrative needs instead of utilizing real people is fine
I don't think the original Louisiana Event lore is retconned, they decided to host most of it on their website where other canon stories can be read. The parts that did probably get retconned are the two papers from the book that didn't get re-uploaded to the site, talking about poltergeists, dragons, and implying that there are multiple sculptors
I've also noticed they've seemingly stepped away from the whole AHA being a secret society possibly because of the controversy surrounding them in Germany.
It's also strange that they've gone from Voodoo curses in the moon trilogy events like serpents moon to Eldritch rituals in the tide of desolation event and now I'm noticing a bit of a focus with the whole night of the hunt doomsday cult and some kind of ancient Egyptian biblical plague.
I think the existing lore could fit relatively fine into whatever they have planned but I'm also hoping they do allow more of a focus on the lore in the future or add the books again because the world building and story they had going with each event and lore entry was pretty interesting. I've mentioned it once before I think but I always see people compliment how good their trailers are and they could totally do cutscenes for the events with voice actors doing what they did with the Hunt showdown 1896 reveal trailer with that one trio doing Scrapbeak.
Also on an unrelated note, does anyone here know what the new Egyptian hunter is wearing over her face? Some sort of mask or basket like the Viper maybe? I know her description references that she was a grave robber so not sure if it's got any historical relevancy there.
It's a mask made from the fibrous reeds along the banks of the Nile... I have no idea just throwing out an idea
What controversy is this?
Secret societies have a long and storied history in not just Germany but all of Europe and a lot of that history isn't luxurious. I won't go too much into it because it's likely not an appropriate discussion topic here but it's understandable why the writers would want to change from the AHA being a secret society to more of a profit organization of bounty hunters, researchers and detectives.
I think that's exactly what it is lol
But what does that kind of mask represent? Maybe people who carried the dead to the tomb wore that kind of mask or something like that... or it's just to hide face while grave robbing lol
The fact that Meatheads, at least the first one in the lore, are mutated newborns still fucks with me a bit
I think it's definitely some kind of concealment for tomb raiding instead of having some sort of representation. I did a bit of research and couldn't really find anything relating to masks in ancient Egypt made of plant fibers from Nile reeds.
The voice acting of their latest trailer was quite cringe imo though. Also I cannot remember any event lore which was really good. The old lore was in a good spot. Not so hard focussed on the relationships of playable legendary hunters.
I like the new ways they presented the lore though. The puppet show was cool, and the voice actor did an amazing job imo.
Iâm not really knowledgeable enough to engage in the discussions here much, but Iâm very much excited to see where they take it.
don't think i've seen this so far
Ive noticed that a few times, it doesnt look like any of the saloons we know, my best guess is it might be what Minersfolly looked liked before it burnt down
That photo has been in game since Lawson released, so I doubt it
I always thought it was supposed to be the station, but maybe its some other part of the map, maybe it was just a test map
The thing is a lot of those older events is old lore. (i.e light the shadow & moon trilogy.) Sure the voice acting can use some improvement but all this new 1896 stuff for hunt is still in it's infancy so it's really hard to draw conclusions at this point. Also, one way to tell a story is always to focus on the relationships of characters and in this case it's playable legendary hunters so I don't really see any issue with them telling stories from the perspective of legendary hunters in the events. It's also not just legendary hunter exclusive since characters like Preston from this event's story aren't even hunters.
It had been Legendary Hunter exclusive for the previous two events and much of the weapon lore recently had been focusing on them as well. On the one hand it's cool to see some Hunters get a lot more details but on the other hand the world feels smaller when you have less random people getting involved. Preston and the Backers and the looming threat of Lynch is a good step towards opening up the world, bringing it back to early Book of Monsters and Weapons days where we were learning about the AHA, Jackson Asylum, and most of the big stories were dedicated to people we'll never get to see, like Huff, the Twins, the Salter brothers, Leander Coetze and Samson the recruiter, the First Trio, etc.
The distinction between Hunter and lore character is important cause you can do so much more with characters, they're not constrained to certain actions and outcomes because they need to remain available to play.
imo the drowned kid/rat show that they don't feel constrained into certain actions/outcomes for legendary hunters
The fact that Drowned Kid/Rat exist at all suggests they are
Otherwise, they could've just remained dead
but the regular rat and kid still exist as playable hunters
like the rat and kid are never going to exist in the world of hunt again as those specific characters
I just hope they bring back the book of monsters and weapons at some point and I'm hoping if they do they'll also decide to add new entries for stuff like the 1867 Carbine and Crossbow deadeye
also like for my general opinion on this, I prefer the focus on the legendary hunters bc as they keep getting added, the world keeps widening up in those directions with new starts to storylines and putting a narrative focus on that allows for things to start getting deeper instead of wider
I mean we'll see where we go from here since I think the status of hunt's lore is currently a big question mark and it's possible that all we get going forward is DLC stories that go nowhere and legendary hunter/weapon skin blurbs
I wanna know more about the funky human body vs. hydraulic press rituals, is that the kind of shit that gives the sculptor an opening? More lore pls
Does corruption enter an area when someone does something stupid by invoking ancient eldritch funny stuff for selfish gain?
It's the second time that incredible suffering for the sake of experimentation has been hinted at being involved in attracting the Sculptor. Previously the Modern Researcher posited that the Pelican Island Prison experiments could've opened the door for it.
Ah fascinating
What's interesting is that this recent ritual seemingly required bounty tokens
This time it's a little different cause it's specifically occult experimentation using parts of a previous corruption rather than psychological experiments with drugs and trauma
the bounty tokens likely sped up the corruption stuff due to the connection to the sculptor but it's possible that the sheer level of cruelty for the sake of greed would have still caught its eye
I'd basically agree that the focus should be on the legendary hunters, especially when the roster of legendary hunters is constantly getting larger with each new dlc and event we get. However, I also think stories and lore on characters that aren't exactly established in the lore are completely fine too. For example, we had that one particular owner of the LeMat uppermat from the LeMat uppermat entry in the weapons book who had second thoughts about becoming hunter after witnessing the assassin firsthand, losing his uppermat in the process.
I mean I don't think the mix of things is bad, I think the recent mix of legendary hunters to general world stuff has been really good in the book of weapons
and the mako entries especially were perfect in mixing established lore bits in with the current storylines
like the mako storyline worked really well to tie both hail mary and the witch hunter into the established world by bringing in ties to lynch and also jos
Oh shit, imagine if they keep up the habit they've had of connecting new weapon additions to old lore.
Crossbow Deadeye being another Hayden Collins chapter focusing on the Twins and what they've been doing.
Rival Trauma talking about Huff or Victor Caldwell.
Infantry 73L + Sniper giving us three new chapters about James Byrne (kinda unlikely tbh, they'd probably just use it to start a new story)
man the crossbow deadeye is a great point I wonder what the plan there would have been
I think what I'd like would be instead of hayden collins stuff, have a more first person account of the twins
like still tied in with them but a new source abt them that the contemporary researcher would have tied a BATS connection to
That's a great point, a sort of unspoken explanation as to why the story hadn't been uncovered yet
Exactly! That's what I'm hoping they do
Too bad Circe was too focused on vengeance and Mary has that "never ending fight." The whole forbidden love dynamic between Mary and Circe is reminiscent of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle.
tbh I think them breaking up is a lot more interesting than them just staying together
like it was a very intentional and also smart narrative decision to introduce their relationship in the exact same lore drop as them breaking up
we have a couple of established relationships that are going on pretty healthily, I like seeing the more realistic side of things where people just don't work together
Yeah it makes for a better story but still sad their love never blooms
It's some of my favorite new hunter-focused lore because of that decision, it felt fresh
Showing a real moral struggle for both of them
yeah!
like it shows a lot of their priorities in a very simple manner while having an emotional hit
also their love did bloom but sometimes it just doesn't work out for people
Speaking of the Mako entry I wonder who between Circe and Mary was using a Mako
I can't remember if it actually says
circe presumably since she's carving it
and mary wanted her to replace her berthier with it
Mary not a fan of the Berthier deadeye huh? I guess I can't really blame her the recoil and sway isn't ideal.
It's kind of cute too how she would want Circe to replace her Berthier with the Mako. Like her telling Circe to be safe because she cares.
Tbh itâs more that she wanted her to give up on the revenge quest and the berthier was inscribed w the story of her family and stuff
Itâs why Circe was conflicted over itâ she felt like giving it up was giving up on her family
Could also have a double meaning too
Wild idea, but the impression I got was river boat⌠then again, I donât know what riverboats of the time looked like. Probably wrong but I thought Iâd throw out the idea
But it also helps give context on the complexity of their relationship
it more gives context of the failure point of their relationship imo
like the crux of why they broke up is that mary wanted her to move on and choose peace and circe was unwilling to put herself first and give up on the memory of her family
it's not really said how long they were together for but the mako thing was likely the beginning of the end of their relationship as mary started to put more pressure on circe to move forward
Yeah they both had their own goals, motives and beliefs that were conflicting
And the way it was presented to the reader was really well done
Event lore never spoke to me. When I mean old lore, I mean the stuff released in LE, on website and some of the books. Yes some of the Legendary Hunter were already mentioned there too. But it doesn't felt too focused on it. It was more a general trend with AHA, Louisiana incident etc. Same as the old splinter factions interest me more I.e. Sinners, Christian sect and "Vodoo boys" and Night cult. Don't give two cents about infernal pact etc. The names sound so ridiculous. And the event lore in general more feels like a hero shooter/ marvel thingens. But to each its own.
Couldn't find the answer elsewhere so I have a question for here. People told me Sofia and Mountain Man are LGBT+, was that info added in an event or a weapon mastery page? 'Cause last I played I thought Viper and Lulu were the only confirmed LGBT+ hunters, so I assume it got lore dropped in a later update? Is there any way to read that stuff now that it's been taken out of the game itself, or is it gone forever?
Currently the two places to read the collected lore are the Compendium and Hunt-Stats's library section, both are in the pinned comments of this channel.
Sofia and Lulu have a detailed love story in the Scottfield, LeMat Carbine, and Martini-Henry Ironside masteries detailing the DeSalle shootout and its aftermath, as well as some bits in the Desolation's Wake event.
Mountain Man has the Eulogy weapon skin that mentions an unspecified man who was a past lover and enemy. No other detail is given.
Beyond them, there's also Alison and Jos detailed in the Nitro Express Rifle and Cavalry Saber masteries, and then Circe Elias (The Witch Hunter) and Mary Burgess (Hail Mary) in the Mako masteries, and possibly Alvise Seiko in the Katana mastery.
Ah thank you so much!
They also had a LGBT+ day stream at one point, in which they spoke about those hunters I think
We also have Iron Bark who goes by they/them pronouns. @granite shard likely knows more that my tired brain can't think of
Trans day of visibility stream specifically! It was there that they specified that sofia is agender
The specific confirmed identities are sofia and the viper are both agender, lulu and Sofia are both lesbians, and the witch hunter is bisexual. The others arenât confirmed in regards to their specific identities beyond being some form of lgbtq
Smaalls
How can sofia be both lesbian and agender?
Don't those contradict each other?
Nope! Iâm not lesbian or non-binary so I canât speak from specific personal experience but thereâs a large community of non-binary lesbians
I was thinking about asking the same lel.
Part of it is just like thereâs not a lot of sexuality language for nb people, so thereâs a lot of NB people who still identify as gay/lesbian bc that best communicates their orientation
Non binary people should just make more words
Why they be settling down for something that doesn't signify them, i personally wouldn't
I volunteer verb "to gorb" to be taken by their community
Tbf the word does still signify them and the only people within the community that try and say it doesnât signify them tend to be exclusionists
Uhoh
Within the community is the operative word there :p
- doesn't perfectly signify them
Queer identity stuff is still kinda like always evolving and thereâs a lot of words at use that came from idk, Iâd say older frameworks that people have updated the meaning/understanding of in a way as time has come on and inclusivity has become more of a thing
Like I identify as bi even tho Iâd date a non-binary person because the âbi means twoâ has kinda morphed more into that âbi means two or moreâ and thereâs now a lot of overlap w pan
Mood
I just think the flag is better đ
but going within the context of hunt a really interesting slash important thing to note is that all of this language is used specifically out of universe since the language wasn't at play back then
True, trur
it's not that it makes it not canon but also like there flat out wasn't the language for a lot of these things back then
like even lesbian only really gained prominence in the mid 1900s
like I wanna way the 70s
Concept is there, our word for it is not
yeah!
The need to properly sort information was the internet before internet
Before it noone cared to have a name for these things, they just were
like queer people were always there but the language wasn't there and that's part of why we don't see a lot of specifics used in text for the characters and the clarification comes from going to the writers and asking lol
I can't believe the greeks didn't use english names for things đ
This channel could really benefit from a different name. đ
What do you mean?
Could almost call it Hunt Rule 34 channel or similar đ
I agree. We're all here for Moses.
How is any of the above rule 34?
How is above really "lore"? đ More often than not when one thinks oh sth new in lire discussion its either something about identies and sexual preferences or wishing for certain characters to be playable. Latter is not 34 probably. And I used 34 as an euphemism
Well to each it's own but for me lore is more sth what @upbeat kiln puts in his vids
Lore is basically any in-universe information and then we also stretch it a bit to meta information that's interesting like easter eggs or gun models and shit. I've gone down some rabbit holes of art history relating to tattoos that have hardly any bearing on storylines. Some people are more interested in certain topics than others so they come up more often.
If you've got something else the channel oughta look at just bring it up and we'll immediately bite into it.
Like⌠hungry piranhas. Lore piranhas. Loreanhas
It's character lore. Just as you need world building, you need character building too. Since hunt lore is clearly becoming more focused on the people over the environment, the Lore Channel will change to talk more about that. Many Event Hunters have been LGBTQ+, so of course Lore Channel is going to end up talking about it. As Rai said, we will happily talk about pretty much anything lore related.
(Thinking queerness falls under rule 34 is either a misunderstanding of rule 34 or a bit concerning đ§ )
It's always nice when someone outside the regulars pops in with questions or ideas so I hope the people that lurk this channel don't feel like we're too focused on topics they're not interested in or that they can't just butt in. I've learned so much from fresh perspectives that generate discussion, like discovering what a steam donkey is.
I agree, I don't think anything released in LE and other material necessarily needs to be retconned but as I said earlier too I don't mind a mixture of focus on established characters and just random tidbits of lore here and there as well. It's been awhile now but they've also put more focus on these "pacts" but that doesn't mean those established groups you mentioned like the Night of the hunter and the Sinners aren't still around. The charm you get for completing the bonus tier for this event even talks about Nadia Orville, who is both a legendary hunter and a night of the hunt member iirc. So the old lore is still there but there's been more of an emphasis on introducing new stuff because at this point they've had time to think about what kind of story they want to tell for the game.
You know what Iâm curious about? The in universe presence of the port sulphur band. We know they exist, and we know that story wise some of them die, I thinkâŚ
But if theyâre doing all the music, and you can find it in game, do we actually know when they were operating?
Because we find their tracks a lot. So who was distributing them? I doubt thereâs much lore on it, but Iâm curious nevertheless
They tell us how they die in Make Them Bleed
Out of curiosity what does this mean for Bisexuals who choose to only date male and female?
Really? I may need to go read through the lyrics again
No more Port Sulphur đ˘
I'm going to assume that all the hunters are fans and insist on bringing the records with them
They definitely preformed in lower desalle, since there are signs that mention it I believe⌠and obviously the music that plays lol
This is a fun explanation lol
There's a tiny bit of lore from the loading screens and then I think someone had a theory about It's Dark in New Orleans being about the members that died.
The two spots we know they were in Lawson Delta and witnessed the corruption, and then Lewis Saloon in Lower DeSalle in July 1895 when the infection reached the point of turning the locals. It's hard to say which came first, whether they witnessed the infection in DeSalle, came to know about it, then traveled further to Lawson, or the other way around.
Historians are said to consider them the most reliable source of bayou folklore from the era.
Oh yeah, absolutely.
Hm⌠thatâs an interesting theory for sure. Certainly seems like theyâre following the course of the events pretty closely⌠they sung about the Delphine for instance, so they were probably in the area for that
Iâll have to go have a look back at that song with that new perspective
Thank you :]
This is probably why we play port sulphur when we interact with the gramophones
exactly
What's your favorite Port sulphur song?
Personally I'd have to say Dark in New Orleans or Marked for Death
Both those are good songs to jog to
I love the OG. I tend to sing Devil in the Churchyard to my piggles a lot tho, so maybe that one
dark is rising my beloved
Dark in New Orleans and Light the Shadow are my favs
Light the Shadow is a good one too
I like the songs with oomph to it that feel more intense
The new one feels exactly like that
Make them bleed
Hereâs something else actually- from the sinners blues lyrics, could we assume they were present at prison? The⌠which one?
There was one with some experiments happening⌠i forget which ones
I need to do more research into the lore jeez
There's a reference to a burning prison in the Nagant Officer High Velo ammo blurb, which is connected to the Russel Chambers story about being recruited by Hardin.
RN: We torched the jailhouse once weâd taken what we needed, then returned and to burn what was left. Another loose end that could have led someone down a trail that didnât need following.
If it actually is connected to Port Sulphur Band, that's an interesting little Researcher's Note. It would suggest that there's more than one researcher writing in the file, from the early 20th century.
The Letter to Frank Chambers series also has a Sinner in prison, page 5 in the Nagant Silencer mastery
Was the historians thing in a loading screen? Damn, I should stop alt tabbing after readying up XD
Yeah, it's an incredibly rare loading screen tip that took me 200+ hours of gameplay to find. Thankfully 75% of it was a streamer's gameplay that I just skipped through to check the screens. Here's the full set of PSB tips:
During a live performance one humid July night, the Port Sulphur Band appeared at a local saloon, only to witness the entire audienceâs gruesome transformation before their very eyes. No one knows if any of them actually made it out aliveâŚ
The Port Sulphur Band song âBulletâs Lullabyâ is said to pay tribute to the memory of the man that would one day be transformed into the creature known as Scrapbeak
Historians have confirmed many of the events described in the Port Sulphur Bandâs songs, and many experts consider them to be one of the most reliable sources of bayou folklore from the era, though Hayden Collins notably and publicly disagreed with the assessment.```
Doing the Lord's work o7
Hayden being like "no, guys I swear my novels are the most reliable sources, don't trust their songs"
Have they ever said if they're bringing back the various lore books to the game? Like was the removal temporary or permanent?
they've made no indication that they have plans to return them from the game
all we know is that they're updating progression and that wasn't ready for the august update
Ah I see. I hope they do bring them back. Especially since they were a way they could flesh out some of the legendary hunters too.
It's still nice to know a little about these randos blasting each other in a swamp. I figure the event is the only source of lore now?
light the shadow and the one and only MINER'S LAMENT
I'm glad that little tidbit about Bullet's Lullaby is there because I've long speculated that most of the Port Sulphur songs actually have direct meaning, whether it's to a specific hunter, boss or event is up for debate.
Like obviously you've got songs like Marked for Death which references the crew of the Delphine and Rotjaw but you've also got songs like Rabbit in the Mine which could be about Petr and Mary Ochenkov.
Miner's Lament is a classic and I really like Light the Shadow and it's actually a song I recognized even before playing Hunt
Hm⌠interesting. Iâll take a look!
Wouldnât surprise me. Seems like most of the songs relate to the wider plot in some way or another
Thinking of the sinners, something I think that could be really interesting to explore would be another sinner coming into play kinda going after the viper for seemingly splitting off from the group to do their own thing
Guys what if the events of Louisiana was just a dream all along.
Did the new hunter shade get involved in the event's plot at all? I've been reading up on the lore bits again and haven't found even a mention am I missing something?
I don't think so. I'm not even sure what pact she is.
Possibly demented but there's almost no evidence to support that
We know her name which is Nafisa Elhami and her profession which was grave robbing. Her hunter description states that she was cursed, seemingly with undeath which would make sense considering her job was digging up Pharaohs. It also says that she guided foreigners to treasure which I believe summarizes the notion that she worked for wealthy influential people like Preston and his associates. I'm also curious if people like Mr. Chary and the Statesman were associates of Preston.
aside from the hunter itself the event also gave us 3 Egyptian themed skins but the one that stands out to me the most is the Antidote shot skin. The description reads "In the tombs of Pharaohs, ashes of something poisonous lingered beyond the veil. The Land of the Dead held purchase there, and its dust was carried upon bandages from the Nile to the Corrupted Hunt."
That description has a lot of big implications. One being that the infection or corruption as it's now being referred to originated from the Nile, more specifically Egypt. It also mentions the land of the dead and how it found purchase in the tombs of Pharaohs which makes sense when you consider that the Murmurstone was said to have had a presence in ancient Egypt and the Murmurstone coming from Rotjaw and Rotjaw coming from the land of the dead.
Basically what I'm getting at is that this collective or society of wealthy individuals that Preston is apart of was likely funding excavations in Egypt for their occult desires and Nafisa was working for them and brought back artifacts and the remains of mummified Pharaohs which were tainted with the influence of the Murmurstone and caused the outbreak of the corruption leading to the Louisiana incident and possibly other incidents around the United States and maybe even other places in the world. Eventually the Murmurstone itself would make landfall in Louisiana too which would only worsen things.
All of that would eventually lead to the incident we now see in Colorado because although the outbreak of the corruption is a bit different in Colorado than it was in Louisiana it's still obviously the same corruption.
My favourite part was when hunt said "it's showdown time" and totally 1896 all over everyone
The lore of this game is incredible.
I found the level designer blackboard! I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet given it's on a pretty well-traveled path. I only happened to look there because I had trapped a guy in the mine's supply closet and was figuring out what to do with him
It's just a tiny bit south of the southern mine supply point, in a small alcove just past the handcrank.
I don't think the origin of the corruption begins in Egypt. Rather, I think that blurb is describing the urban legend of the Pharaoh's Curse, which has been blamed for several archaeologist and grave robber deaths. A tomb opening in Poland killed nearly a dozen people in the 70s, and they were suspected to have died from fungus. Three that died from the opening of Tutankhamun's tomb are thought to have similarly been infected by fungus or bacteria or the like.
So the lore on the antidote shot is saying that instead of fungus, it's a more supernatural sickness related to the Land of the Dead, and that is probably the reason why Nafisa became undead.
I found it too but don't recognize the face in the center, there's another board at weeping stone mill with only 8 faces iirc
Even though it could be a simple reference to the risk that archaeology and grave robbing has and the many superstitious beliefs that surround ancient Egypt I find the particular sentence in the antidote shot description where it says "The Land of the Dead held purchase there, and its dust was carried upon bandages from the Nile to the Corrupted Hunt" potentially very telling. I guess if you wanted to you could observe it as saying that death has a strong presence in ancient Egypt and that Nafisa brought it with her when she came to the United States to partake in the "corrupted hunt" as opposed to the assumption that the actual influence of the Land of the Dead itself had a strong presence in ancient Egypt and upon excavating the buried and mummified remains of Pharaohs in later years it unearthed the corruption and spread it across the world in the form of these incidents as seen in Louisiana, New York and now Colorado.
I will say one thing is for sure, Egypt is a place in the world with a very storied past and is enriched with so much history that people from all corners of the planet take notice and visit. The fact that the the great Pyramids are one of the 7 wonders of the world is reason enough and with that being said I'm really excited to see if and where they take the lore if they're going to involve ancient Egypt in it.
Maybe if we're lucky we'll even get a Nile crocodile sister for our favorite Bayou alligator, Rotjaw!
This is so...
Rotjaw is a girl.
Where did it say otherwise?
Lore
It was said in the lore. In the book of monsters. It was clearly stated that it was her.
Yes. To clarify, they, just some white shirt, meant that Valens post never indicated RotJaw to be male. RotJaw is indeed a female, she is a Princess after all
Imagine playing with a teammate who's a lore accurate American Hunter Association
Indeed
?
ooo ok, sorry(
Lol all good
A.H.A. organization tends to be toxic and betrayed their mates alot for money according to lore, leading them to their downfall
Gotcha.
Indeed
lol. I love that sticker so much
Anyway, the reason I was stopping in here-
Has anyone actually tried to have a look at the voynich on the target dummies?
Yeah, think Rai mentioned there wasnât much there, but Iâm curious.
Was thinking of nobody else had I might give it a go
Might give it a go anyway tbh
Teeab
I took some screenshots to try and decipher it. It's not all in Hunt Voynich, and some of it isn't Voynich 101 either. The only part that was legible was 'Replace Me' in Voynich 101.
My current theory is that they straight up copied whole lines of text from the Voynich Manuscript itself, but I don't know for sure.
That's why I said sister
Ah, thank you! I remember you said something about that, but I couldnât remember lol
Are these new? I know a lot of letters were reused
The first one is the lyrics from Death is a Bird Flying, it can be found in Healing-Waters Church on the altar in the central room.
The second is a letter from Elaine to Fiona talking about Fiona's missing fiancĂŠ/husband Marcus, part of the Lewis DeSalle storyline. It can be found on the dining room table in Pearl Plantation.
What exactly caused Mammon's Gulch to go to shit again? Why did something like it happen so far away from the Bayou? I haven't really been keeping up with the storyline, but the most I can gather from the trailer was that it was to do with the wells drying up.
The event story goes into some details:
||The Backers, rich and powerful people with an interest in the occult, had been buying barrels and barrels of bounty tokens from the Louisiana Hunters. Their experiments and occult parties caused the Corruption to spread / summoned the Sculptor to Colorado in two different ways. An experiment to restore oil to the wells created the Hellborn, and an occult party at Grizzly Lodge summoned an unknown creature that appears to bisect its victims. The exact details on how Corruption spreads and what the Backers at Grizzly Lodge did is still a mystery. ||
||So bounty tokens aren't just unseen, harmless items. I should've known better, they come from hellish rifts in the ground from the Sculptor's creations. But I assume the AHA sold them, right? It makes it sound a lot more sinister if it was an intentional move, able to spread occult items across the states for more wealth, in more ways than one||
Yeah, back in Tide of Desolation a guy is described with a bounty token in his hand, flipping it around like a coin.
I think the AHA used to sell them, but with their fracturing after Huff's death and the subsequent pact infighting caused by Chary, it might be that these Backers are buying from everyone, treating each pact like independent contractors rather than dealing with a central authority like the AHA anymore.
Ahhh, gotcha! Thank you :]
hunts lore is so buried, but so cool. hope the book comes back so maybe some of the new weapons can add some detail onto things like this
Do you guys think it's reasonable to assume that Lynch put Captain Laffite back together? This one part from his Steam description:
"He began his life as salvage, and as salvage it would end. A forsaken soul wandered across him. They picked his head off a starfish, lubricated his nervous system with oil and sewed it back into place. Captain Laffiteâs mind fractured through his decayed organs, either making him alive ten times over or not alive at all."
We know for sure The Rat and The Kid both got brought back by her, seems likely all of the Drowned did. The timing is all that's off; Laffite was brought back first, then the other Drowned came after he died in Tide of Corruption.
If memory serves right, in tide of corruption The Rat was shot in the back by Wayward Helmsman while cooking dynamite and then her soul was ripped from her corpse, and in tide of corruption The Kid had half his face blown off by the Butcher's cleaver using some kind of hand cannon. So I don't think it would be unreasonable to assume that the other Drowned members, Captain Laffite and Thirteenth Mate, suffered similar fates and had to be completely reconstructed by Lynch to serve as her instruments in the hunt.
Especially that line where it says "They picked his head off a starfish, lubricated his nervous system with oil and sewed it back into place." That gives me the impression that he was decapitated.
I'm kind of curious by who or what though, maybe Rotjaw since Laffite was captain of the Delphine?
He was ripped apart by crabs and shit after he jumped off The Delphine and ended up in the Land of the Dead, it's in another part of the same Steam description
lol yeah than Lynch definitely needed to practice on her sewing skills
I can just imagine a Lego city themed commercial with Lynch and the Drowned pact
"There's trouble in the Bayou, and we need help from the Drowned pact! HEY! Build the Drowned Pact, send them on the hunt and get the bounty!"
A MAN HAS FALLEN INTO THE SWAMP, IN LEGO BAYOU!
Need some Lore background to the Reptilian Ward please
I'm assuming there is, but for the event lore narrations, is there a place that has them all uploaded?
There might be someone on youtube that has them all uploaded in one nice spot, but I haven't looked lately. Instead, here's scattered links to them.

The complete story of Desolation's Wake from Hunt Showdown.
I do not claim ownership over the materials presented, all copyrights go to Hunt Showdown and Crytek.
If so. I honestly havenât found anything
thank you
I really like the idea behidn them but not being able to play them continuously in game
Well as the name implies he's basically the apprentice of Keith Cowen, The Reptilian. Alligator hunting was quite prominent at the time so Reptilian was teaching Ward the tricks of the trade as well as mentoring him during the hunt.
Reptilian however, killed his mentor and could suffer a similar fate at the hands of the Ward.
Live in the swamplands so love the swamp characters lol. Didnât have a chance to get Ward as I started hunt 2 weeks before 1896. So I hope they add him back but thanks for the Lore
Unfortunately Ward and Skinned were part of a very exclusive questline event before the tide of shadows event that introduced Rotjaw into the game as the first wild target. It's unlikely that they'll be brought back as they have yet to bring back previous event hunters like Plague doctor and Viper as well.
Drowned reptilian would be pretty epic or something along the lines
call him
amphibian
Wet man
not dirt man?
I think Gar coming back as a Drowned would be cool and make sense in the lore
Is she not already drowned though in a sense?
Well it does say she drowned but I think that means she actually drowned and not that she is drowned pact.
During tide of shadows Gar is Primal pact but one thing I still don't quite understand is so is Reptilian and his people but Gar nearly kills Hornback with a concertina trap and she kills Skinned with a Bomb lance.
What đ
Gar's goals were similar to the rest of the primal, but she wasn't working with them
Skinned is dead in the lore ? Damn, dude didn't live for long.
Helmsman survived for at least all of ToS and ToC.
Honestly, I don't mind them killing off characters if they will never reappear
It's probably not very clear. I don't mind them killing off characters if they're not going to repair for people to get again
So rn the Reptilian crew is still left intact, while the poor Skinned had to perish :(
I think they got fairly messed up from that encounter too, but don't recall it well rn
Hornback got caught in a concertina trap
But it wasn't poisoned.
Silly hunters not knowing deathtraps
Yea she probs survived but I bet her cool coat didnât
Pretty sure Hornback defected from Primal to Drowned in ToD
She was pre locked to drowned in tod but we never saw her actually be involved w anything in the lore
The drowned pact was pretty tightly just the four drowned in that event so itâs likely that was just to give pre pledged hunter options
That makes more sense
I wonder if we'll ever get an event with most of or all of the pacts as playable
Having all the previous pledged hunters and current pacts be apart of some big event would be cool to see
Maybe even have some pacts have alliances with each other like grounded and wilderness
Meh itâs questlines Iâm sure they will be brought back eventually
They are not like event hunters
Plus Iâm pretty sure hunt said that only the as the crows fly event stuff will never come back
Specified as the crows fly and not any other event
What rarity is Scaled Ward? Skinned is Mythic so I'm assuming Mythic as well but I don't know cause I don't have the skin.
Theyâre labeled as mythics
So itâs doubtful theyâll ever return
Mythic seems to be the only rarity that actually means anything lol
Even if they do return itâs gonna be like a long while from now
Pretty sure Billy Story was a questline and they brought him back so it's entirely possible
well he was a twitch drop that they brought back in a questline (and you got the questline from a twitch drop)
he wasnt originally a questline guy
I don't remember them specifying any particular event content would not be returning but I'm assuming most event stuff will remain exclusive because of the whole mythic rarity thing they have now.
they for sure said as the crows fly stuff will never come back
but havent specified anything else
I definitely don't see them bringing back plague doctor or viper back or anything from the light the shadow event
why viper particularly?
People have been asking for years now for them to bring back plague doctor and viper and they have yet to even acknowledge it
Serpents moon was also a terrible grind
well i think the comment about not bringing as the crows fly things was in response to a bring back the plague doc message
on a dev stream if i remember correctly
viper though
uh havent heard many people wanting him back
To like avoid disappointment Iâd take mythic as a âwonât come backâ tier
There have been a few comments here and there from devs that imply as much
In the patch notes they even specify:
"Mythic rarity applies to time-sensitive unlocks or purchases that will not return for unlock or sale."
oh
Yeah that pretty much confirms it I guess
Unfortunate, I would've liked to have gotten my hands on plague doc but so would everyone else
Alright, so I just finished up with the lore, and I have questions
Go for it
The final entry mentions a âlong sleeping evilâ beneath the gulch is the cause of the corruption there. Now, what Iâm curious about is if that is the sculptor or something entirely distinct.
Because to me, that line implies itâs a different entity. But, we have the same bosses, the same monstersâŚ
Prob Sculptor
Or just another entity, another secret portal to the Land of dead, who knows
Thatâs an interesting theory actually. The portal one.
Where corruption spreads same does the copy of the bosses, and mostly a gameplay thing
Dementeds went to Mammon's Gulch so they con do more sculptor's simping
Maybe two distinct things then? Sculptor sorta.. melding with something already there?
I hope we get more about it honestly. I mean, theyâll probably have some lore way of re introducing the other maps⌠right?
I would imagine we will get something
to be frank, they've said they wanted to expand the AI with Mammon's Gulch, but didn't get the time to do it. https://videogames.si.com/features/hunt-showdown-1896-interview?utm_source=reddit.com
Oh that's nice then
I think they're hinting at a new AI with the bisected bodies wearing sage mentioned in Graystone Pit and Grizzly Lodge
Oooh, I was associating that with hellborn, or just some ritual, but now you mention itâŚ
I'm imagining something with long blade arms that runs you down with heavy attacks, being as oppressive as a hellhound pack
There's some new signs in Stillwater, little bits of environmental storytelling
Hm. Very nice. Iâll have to see if I can spot anything myself.
oooooooooo
This is exciting considering the mild sadness of Gulch having repeating stuff
Yeahhhh⌠I have a hope we will get more in the gulch. Thereâs something especially charming about having lore actually IN the map
Because, you know⌠itâs a shooter. Thatâs a really unique way to display stuff for those that care enough to look.
Yeah. I've seen a LOT of folks asking about the lore as Ive been scanning, so I'm hopeful as other issues get ironed out they become louder
But Iâm excited to see what new things weâve got on Stillwater. Itâs probably not much, but who knows⌠maybe weâll get some cool new insight.
but yeah, I love the in world lore
the fact that the Delphine/a paddleboat is outside the map now is AWESOME
Wait, it IS!?
YEAH
WAH
Thank you!!!
Didnât it get blown up? I wanna see if I can spot any damage on it
could just be a random boat
Damn, Iâm going to have to try find it with a spyglass
Could be, but it would be very cool if itâs the Delphine
Yeah. Send pics if do, im at work and wont be able to play tonight
đ
Bonus if she moves around tbh
Would be a lot of work but ngl if it was like, a moving supply point, would be fucking cool
I canât really tell if itâs even a paddle steamer from this angle lol
ja
That would be fun lol
ngl if they'd added that in during the Tides, I'd have lost it
make her the central cache
I think I can spot a little bit of the paddle wheel at the back
I canât remember if we ever got told where the paddle wheel was on the ship
Was it the rear?
Lmao, that gave me a giggle
Alright, TO THE COMPENDIUM! research time :D
Yup. From what I can tell, the paddle is on the rear.
Mentions bodies landing on the deck as the wheel churns them up, so rear makes the most sense to me
New poster đĽł
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhell yeah
GUYS GUYS THIS IS HUGE
I didn't get the best screenshot but it reads
"Edward Lynch, 1857-1889
No-Good Cheating Bastard
May He Rot In Hell"
Grandpa đŤĄđđ
Beyond that, there's either a new or old easter egg that I found in the basement of Healing-Waters
||There is an open casket past the gated shut area with all the flames in it. Using a spyglass to read the inscription reveals "In Loving Memory of Sven Ulrich 17-07-1872 - XX-XX-1895"||
Sven Ulrich is one of Crytek's hard surface artists
Maybe she has an ex husband
Anyone have any thoughts on lore behind why we return from Mammon's to hunt Stillwater before the other map's?
And good catch on the Lynch grave
I don't think there's any in-universe story where people are returning to the old maps one by one.
The out of universe reason is that the developers presumably are going up the list starting from the 1st map then 2nd and 3rd.
Maybe her and her husband were like the dark opposite of the married couple who spawned meat head, mickinley or something
Got some screenshots of the new ship, it's past the western edge of the map. Looks like it's been there awhile and was looted down to its timbers.
Doesn't look like the Delphine, it has a different shape compared to the poster. But then the ship being ripped apart for the altars would fit.
Did it not also explode? I didnât get that far when I was reading earlier.
Excellent find with that poster by the way.
It's been so long since I last read. I think it was flying and then crashed down when Rotjaw was banished, and the Demented started making altars out of it?
The ghost of the Delphine exploded at the end of Desolation though
Ahhh, thatâll be what Iâm thinking of. The ghost as opposed to the actual ship.
Damn, you work fast lol
I doubt thereâs much left to find now!
But hey, no harm in looking
To explain what I meant better;
The husband and wife Mickenly or whatever it was, hunted together making their love stronger and it was more a positive tale until she got pregnant and ripped apart by meathead birth. Maybe Lynch and her ex were the opposite, they hunted together but he was a shitty cheating guy who kept bounty for himself and treated her like shit so she delved more into the occult and corruption aspect until she or whomever killed her husband and then she goes full bad, fully leaning into the darkside... Idk just thinking thing's up over here
đ
I think you may be right about that.
It's even emphasizes that he's a "no good cheater"
It's seems whoever commissioned the gravestone probably didn't like the person unless the phrasing is meant to be sarcastic
I think this is also the first time the name Lynch has been mentioned again since the tide events but I could be wrong there
She got brought up in the Mako mastery lore but that's essentially still connected to Desolation's Wake
Makes me wonder why Stillwater got this level of attention when mammonâs gulch got kinda fucked tbh
I guess maybe because Stillwater was their first map and some of the devs are extra passionate and nostalgic about it?
I'm definitely noticing a lot more detail on this new Stillwater than gulch
Clutter and signage wise they're pretty equal in detail. The main thing the Gulch needs is more posters and letters dedicated to Colorado stories, which I think it will get in time. The same thing happened with DeSalle, it upgraded over time with most of the new posters being added with the Kingsnake Mine update.
Yeah, I notice a lot of the posters in gulch are either too low resolution to read or make out or they're just not there at all
And a lot of the posters and signs that are in gulch are reused from other maps
I am now imagining subway surfers looking fella with a spray paint putting lore into the servers
Subway servers đ
Lol
Is it possible to get a list of all legendary guns owned by or referring to a specific legendary hunter ?
For example Black Coat (William Durant) has the widower and honor shredder
but are there more ?
Yup, I've got them all listed for every Hunter in the Compendium, in the pinned messages of this channel.
Black Coat only has those two skins, maybe he'll get more one day
Whose the hunter that owns the most skins?
I would think it's the Waldman since he's got a crossbow, new army and frag bomb skin
The Hunter with the most owned skins is The Statesman with 6. 2nd place is The Centipede with 5, 3rd place is Mr. Chary who also has 5 but isn't a Hunter so he got docked a few points.
Oh yeah I totally forgot about Statesman
he's got a bornheim, a silenced winfield, a mako and mako aperture and a marathon swift
what's the 6th skin he has?
god i hope with desalle they change the overall biome of the map to either seem more lousiaiany, or change it to seem more arkansasy
one or the other but god please cypress doesnt work with rocky terrain
Fingers crossed it gets Louisanafied.
Weak antidote shot
Truth be told, he preferred the latter, as dead men didnât talk, and he was a solitary and silent man by nature. Even if his target surrendered, Stringfellow would like as not shoot him. The lesser bounty for bring proof of a corpse didnât matter to him. Pure and simple, he enjoyed the hunt.
Life changed for Stringfellow in the spring of 1891. After coming down with a hacking cough, he went to see a sawbones for a cure. The doctor had bad news. Heâd managed to contract tuberculosis, and the best he could do to preserve his life would be to find a sanitarium in the mountains where the clean air would do him good.
Stringfellow rejected the diagnosis, but after a coughing fit gave away his position to a band of train robbers he was tracking, he was shot up and left for dead. As he lay there, bleeding and feverish, he had visions of a fear-shadowed mountain, with inhuman things moving through the woods on its slopes.
Eventually he was found by a friendly local, who nursed him back to something approximating health. Stringfellow repaid the man by stealing his horse and heading for the Rockies. He searched high and low for the mountain of his vision. There, too, he found the monstrous shapes he had dreamed of, and it was an easy transition to start hunting them for Bounties instead ofâor in addition toâmen.```
More of a Doc Holiday since he's a bounty hunter
Yeah, cowboy getting TB is a common trope cause of Holiday
You can tell this DLC was made a while ago cause the weapons haven't been renamed. Mako 1895 Carbine and Caldwell Conversion Uppercut Precision
I really like his style, he's almost stereotypically gothic but in an old west way rather than southern.
Yeah Iâm a fan of his look
The new hunter's uppercut be like:
Have the devs tried not to make the game completely fucking shit
That question is gonna fall on deaf ears here I'm afraid
This is the lore channel my friend
Ui is terrible gun play is terrible what is there to say other than that
We talk about stuff like low resolution names on a gravestone covered by the body of a grunt đ
Real serious lore discussion here only, okay?
Bot
I had a question about the new guy, one of his skins is a weak vitality shot called "Grave robber" but his profession is clearly bounty hunting. So what's up with that?
Probably references whatever may or may not be in it
Based on the item description
ie blood
I figure it's a kind of pun, since it's healing you, it's robbing a grave from being filled.
Oh yeah that makes sense
The vitality shot robs a grave from filling so he can continue punishing his bounties
Yeah when I first saw it I thought he was another grave robber hunter like The Shroud, especially considering all his death themed weapons in correspondence with his appearance.
Instead he's just a sensitive introvert who likes his skeletons
Of course, a man of his stature and profession it makes sense why he'd be closely associated with death.
Maybe he's a death pact hunter too that'd be cool
I guess you could say this hunter is b-b-bad to the bone
Okay I'm done with the puns now I promise
I'm surprised he was diagnosed with TB since hunters seem to be pretty robust and resilient. Unless maybe he was diagnosed with TB before he became a hunter and embarked on the hunt. It does say he was diagnosed in the spring of 1891 but I'm not sure if that was before the hunt began.
Earliest mention of the Louisiana Hunt is 1893, and since he goes for the Rockies he clearly didn't know about it until 96
Yall seen this fella yet?
He's just chilling. Sometimes an ammo box will spawn next to him.
There's also a small spot for a money pouch to spawn behind the rightmost Split River waterfall
who is carter running from at his gunshows
havent found everything yet maybe
something about a skeleton in a trunk
Wait, skeleton in a trunk?
And Carter is running from something or someone?
Is it mentioned anywhere in the lore that he has a particular enemy or a bounty on his head?
theres a lore tidbit about him doing one of his trick shows and two men start shouting his name and then firing guns in the air and he like runs away
its written from the pov of someone that isnt carter and thy mention he has a skeleton in his trunk with two centennials?
basically what I'm getting at is what if the new hunter has any relation to Carter
probably not but it's interesting to speculate
another thing I'm wondering is why he's called Silver Spur
Maybe to fit the whole mammon gulch theme?
Prob just because the hair resembles Silver and... It's a cowboy?
I guess he is a bit of a silver fox
Ok, who else got jabaited into thinking the new hunter was Lynch before looking closer at Him
Because he is cool AF but my disappointment is there lol
That being said, if Lynch was just some random ass DLC hunter released with no specific reason, I would also be kinda sad
So I guess I just cant be appeased lol
I want boss lynch
I will also be upset if she becomes a hunter
She's clearly more powerful than a normal hunter
I don't know the lore of Lynch but them turning into a boss sounds appropriate
That is an understatement if i ever heard one
baddie????
lol
She's the witch that killed the witch hunter's sister and maybe stole her skin/face, she once dragged a man into town via beartrap attached to his leg, she has at least 1 powerful weapon from the LOD via the twins (if true) and she's displayed at least some kind of shapeshifting power (also if true)
so
imo she's a baddie
googles the definition of a baddie
grumpy mumbling
these younguns
lol
I like the boss idea. Im down for some Time Travel BS skin, where it isnt her Assended Form or whatever, THAT should be a boss
But I would love a Meat Sack version of her, before said assention to Godhood or whatever
I mean shit, is it so crazy to want a white haired cowgirl hunter
If nothing else, she's gigantic missed oppertunity for a skin. She's THE Hunter.
Yeah but if crytek doesnt care about them how should I
The twins as skins? Now there's the stuff
(I fucking weep)
I'd love to see a powerstripped Chary as a hunter
like, the moon stole all his powers so now he's a normie
I image him a lot like the Statesman, but less Gilded Glammor, more man in black, Devil at the Crossroads type
With a healthy does of boils and scaring from all his occult dabblings
IMH he was papa legba, the chaos lao from voodoo lore
or the religion technically
Older man with a can, glasses, well dressed, has a hat
If only we could delve more into religion grounded hunters, lean into the occult aestetic with known otherworldly structures
Ooh, not seen anyone mention this yet!
What. The boom town notice?
where
Over by Folly yeah?
Also, honestly I'm okay with them moving away from Voodoo stuff
Is the plaque meant to be made of gold or something? It says the monument is to the first gold found but then it doesn't seem like it's displayed anywhere
To go nuts to buts into the Appalachien / Mountain Haint aestetics yeah?
Because they got this cool ass evil mountain, I hope the abuse the hell out of the aestetic
Mmmm
but I think we have a cool Occult crew that we've not touched at all
Night Speaker never appear, right?
we have seer and acolyte
All the generic occult markings that hunters have on them like The Mountie, I'd love to see more information on what they all mean
Seemingly based off the Bonus Charm at the end of the battle pass, the Presedent may get another spotlight in the next event?
There's a lot more AHA occultism left to be uncovered
Not typically a good foreshowding tool but its been true sometimes if Im recalling correctly
Lynch was supposed to be moving to the corresponding location of mammons in the land of the dead
Iâm surprised she wasnât mentioned this event
Huh. I guess we dont really know a lot of the rules for the LotD, because my first question was "like how tho"
The event was much more focused on why the area got fucked and the tie to the backers there so imo lynch not being involved was fine
And I shrug, for the info isnt there
I think having lynch come in would have been too much honestly
Have this event set up the intro to the area and then let a future event have lynch
Depends on how tactfully its done. Like for this event and any corresponding sequals to it? Egghgghh.....
Or just a random dlc..
The time line seems a bit fucked again too, the last event put us into November, but the map shows us fall/summer in the gulch.
Yeah, next to the bridge
Id be much more keen on bringing back another player. They mentioned Finch's Lullaby in the rituals story beat, if he fuckin Crawled out of hell in the next event or two Id be happy
Nothing in the event really says anything abt timeline so I think readers can assume it takes place shortly after desolationâs wake
My assumption is DW was in dec/Jan and the story for scorched earth is feb/March
Just looks like stone to me, but I donât know. Iâll try to get a better shot in the daylight
It would depend on what side of colorado you're on tbf. The state has like 5 distinct biomes lol
I bet is was stolen, pyramids style. A big hunk of gold meant to celebrate the town and its prosperity, yoinked the second someone got the chance lmao
Mammothâs nugget perhaps
nugget :)
It seems like they're going to be branching out into Egyptian esotericism, and possibly other magic/occoultism in the future. Voodoo just makes the most sense for Louisiana.
I think it's just part of the battlepass tbh
Yeah, it doesn't seem important to any story
Involving an ancient pharao and shadow games ?
It really really feels like one of the many international DLCs, except put into the BP
yeah
I guess a better way of putting it is, it feels like they're going to start showcasing the work of the sculptor in different parts of the world; and how the cultures of those areas are affected/deal with it. I would prefer that they not go the route of "all religions have secretly been the sculptor this whole time" though.
I'm not a huge fan of ultimately powerful evil with no meaningful way to fight it for real.
Not that I think we'd see the end of the sculptor inside the game, but it would be nice if there were higher powers on some kind of a "good" side.
Wasn't there once a speculation that there is not only 'one' sculptor?
And to be fair I'm playing a lot of lore catch up right now, so I might be way off base.
That was retconned, part of the earliest lore
Technically we can't know for sure what entities are made by who
Although the sculptor does tend to have an insect motif
Aw dang, I thought it was a nice implication
We know for a fact that the Sculptor is defeated or goes away somehow, some of the Modern Researcher's notes talk about it.
If only there was a way to access those in game...
But I guess its hard to classify evils while keeping them mysterious
There is the huntstats library, its more convenient this way imo
(Although I agree not having it in game sucks)
I liked having it available to read while I was waiting on my trios partners to ready up. I don't have time outside of my actual Hunt Showdown time to be looking stuff up to read.
I guess I'm the other way around, I didn't want to load up the game and sit through the intros to search for something ( ctrl F is really useful )
Both would be nice, you can check it out at your leisure in-game and the online resources will be there for more intense research
Nah Its not an "Oops! All Sculptor!" kinda moment. Unless they suddenly decide to jump the shark and make the worst retcon in history
The sculpor is one of many forces beyond human understanding present in Hunt's world. Hunters Hunt all over the globe, and thats just counting The Hunter's Association, let alone all the independent parties.
Monsters appear all over the globe, but the Lousiana Incident and the subsequent Mammon's Gultch Incident are both the work of the Sculptor. While Hellborn himself is the work of Man, he opened a door that the Sculptor gladly stepped through.
Lore talks about folks hunting monster's cross-continent in the US, hunters come from every side of the world, there was a whole outbreak in the New York Area (I think the more North rural, heart-of-New-England-area, give or take?), all sorts of otherworldly shit we just.. dont know about. Or just barely know of in mentions.
Why would we? It has nothing to do with these two incedents, they're in their own catalogs.
I know The Wayfarer's bio mentions the cascade mountains, and a "similar event", I just concluded (with my limited info) that it was related to the sculptor.
Nah we got spookies and ghoulies all over. I mean shit, we arent even 100% the Immolators / Hellborne are the Sculptor's personal work. He totally yoinked the model, but it isnt his MO.
Bugs hate fire, he's all about bugs. But bugs also hate hunters that squish them so... enemy of my enemy type beat?
I believe the Wayfarer was hunting the Black Dog of English legend? Scottish maybe?
Wait no, the The Waldman
Moor Hound hunted Black Shuks (English/Welsh Black Dog monster) before going to LA
Waldmann was hunting a legendary deer, Moorhound hunted the black sh- what he said ^
Sorry, I deadass corrected myself with the wrong name
Like I knew it in my head but fuck me if I can get it on the page
Who the fuck is the Wayfarer...
Lmao
No problem. I practice English/Welsh/Scottish paganism in real life, so the Moorhound is my bread and butter hunter.
Native American hunter from Light the Shadow. The girl in the beaded dress.
For sure. If there's one thing I'm fairly good at it's pulling the info on the Legendary Hunters from whatever corner of my mind I've shoved them in.
One thing of note is that the cascade mountain stuff was retconned for the wayfarer
Unfortunate.
I believe the reasoning for that was accurate representationâ I think her clothing is more apt for a different tribe that wasnât from the cascades
Understandable. So, we can assume that some kind of event still happened in the Cascades, she just wasn't involved anymore.
Iâd say to count it as gone at this point tbh
I think that if they were gonna keep it theyâd have mentioned some sort of event happening to her just w/o a location
Wait really? When was this announced?
I always liked the idea of other incidents happening elsewhere albeit probably not as severe as the one in Louisiana
Did they retcon the New York incident too?
New York hasn't really been said to have had an incident, the lore describes some grunt attacks and the fact that they have an AHA branch. They handle more than Sculptor business, naturally.
The Cascade mountain thing is presumed retconned because the current Wayfarer description says "The Wayfarer rode to Louisiana to face the monsters there, earning her keep along the way. Her tales of exploit and adventure have earned her acclaim, but what few know is that every word is true."
Not a bad blurb per say, though I dont think it sells the whole "Supernatural Alligator Wrestler Lady" hard enough.
She literally rode on the back of Rotjaw when she First Manifested, before anyone knew ANYTHING about her. Wayfarer is a straight badass, but her description is so... broad.
That was Cardinal Rain đ
But yeah the three Light the Shadow hunters have no lore cause they weren't doing event stories yet
The cascades thing was removed from her lore some time ago. I had checked with a dev last year abt the cause and they mentioned accuracy in representation
