iirc butchers cleaver last appeared when his group was falling apart, murmurstone taken, and chary telling him sculptor basically doesn't care about him. Knowing how hunt likes to do confrontations I can see cleaver walking around aimlessly somewhere with lost hope just for the drowned pact (with kid at the center) jumping him

The last we saw of him was technically in chapter 12 where he and the Scarecrow sacrificed three random hunters out of desperation.
So before the murmurstone got banished, so after that happened his followers most likely lost faith in him.

yes I'm saying I see it as there was a phase where the hunters were supposed to be western vibey (with most the tier characters being either civil war veterans or fit the western genre description with dusters and such.) but against something paranormal evil. and again when I say western I mean the genre as in hollywood stuff. Not like actual irl wild west. Most the popular western stuff happens while the west is dying. The location and the lore is 100% more occult themed, I'm just talking about a point in time for the hunter skins

iirc one of the native American hunters from the light shadow event had a similar experience involving their tribe according to their lore

Although I'd assume that anyone originating from Africa, particularly slaves like Doctor John would have the most extensive knowledge on anything voodoo which would also involve the Sculptor since he's essentially this voodoo deity

The steamship Delphine was transporting a relic, the Murmurstone, and accidentally ended up in the Land of the Dead.

Rotjaw came from the Land of the Dead and "helped" drag back the Murmurstone to normal reality. Some Pacts fought over her and the stone.

Mr. Chary attempted a ritual that was interrupted and now the Land of the Dead is leaking into and destroying the Bayou.
