Oh shit is lynch finally coming back into relevance???
God rotjaw is such a baby I love her so much
How am I supposed to kill her when she’s just a sweet girl who loves her friend!!!
Now I'm over here thinking "are the snores I hear from her like the cooing she used to help Enola sleep?" I can't take anymore 😭
CRIES
Crytek pls this hurts too much
🥺🥺🥺
#saveprincess1895
I’m the number 1 Kevin liker and rotjaw supporter
If rotjaw has zero fans it means I’m dead
We're definitely neck and neck 😁
Mama Bear protecc mode activates
😂😂😂
And that's definitely got to be Lynch! I'm scared what is going to happen to Enola in the next mastery chapter
Guys guys
Can you get me this picture in better resolution?
It's last offer on black market
Back street deals or something
I tried to enhance the pic, this as good as it gets
Hm
Apparently it depends on the size of hunter's name
Because it looks okay for Marshal Brewer
Still cant read the cursive though
The bearer of this contract, hereby referred to as client, may issue to the relevant party, hereby referred to as supplier, requests for the provision of services, assistance and blood. The manners and limitations of such requests may confer to or exceed conventions, in so far that certain protections issued under state and federal law have, willingly or not, been suspended.
Services could therefore include (but are not limited to) assault, homicide, assassination, and wholesale slaughter. Remuneration to the supplier for services rendered remains at the client's discretion, where obligation has been formally withheld.
Yeah I know you're asking for the cursive part, that'll require my pc, cause my phone is not cooperating either
Thanks anyway
The client is not liable for risks undertaken by the supplies, while risks are still formally
encouraged. This contract is not limited to a set timeframe, while death naturally offers
the option to negotiate for release
Xd
What's urgeliate?
LYNCH LYNCH LYNCH!!
I don’t know if it’s her but a woman with silvery hair showing up in the land of the dead sure as shit sounds like her
yeah that's her
I think all references to the woman with white hair is her
so like obvi bad as they seem, the stuff directly about her, this, and I think the phantom's lore
I wonder if she'll become a force opposing chary
If Lynch is back in the Bayou that’s bad news for everyone
Previously I assumed it was Charry who was experimenting on Princess, but that is no longer a sound assumption if Lynch has taken an interest in Princess or Enola
I’m not even sure everything she did in the demon summoning ritual was strictly necessary I’m pretty sure she was just torturing that guy for her own sadistic amusement
The client is not liable for risks undertaken by the supplier, while risks are still formally encouraged. This contract is not limited to a set timeframe, while death naturally offers the option to negotiate for release.
oh someone else got ya with a reply first, whoops
I do wonder if we’re ever going to see Lynch in game
Corrupting the AHA, though its implied the "vaccine" was always evil and corrupting.
The False Saint skin opened up the door to Lore Characters becoming in playable hunters but I wonder if Lynch would be better as a hunter or as a bounty target
Was there lore before the event about him?
or not made for the event leading up to it
Several lore characters are playable as is
Linus was a central character in the Moon trilogy
Yeah, but I mean before that there wasnt any lore about him.
Professor, Black Coat a many others are lore characters
I think Black Coat was a hunter before he was lore character.
Kevin started as lore before getting a hunter skin
I can’t remember did legendary hunters come out before or after the book of weapons was introduced
I don’t think any others started as lore yet
I mean the Twins were certainly lore since the first dagger skin is theirs
I want to see lynch and the twins getting hunter skins
What's the reverends lore
He was a pretty early legendary wasn’t he?
So the lore stuff might have come after he was introduced, idk tho since I only started playing a few months before desalle
its years older than that
Hail Mary was excommunicated for an unknown reason and is trying to get brought back into the church basically
Chary got her to hunt down Kevin by saying he was like satan spawn basically but she ended up going on his side after seeing him and realizing that he’s a poor little meow meow
Other names are mentioned in lore but not specifically attached the Hunters.
Guess Hardin is one.
What happened to lynch, did she disappear?
Banished by twins, who then closed all portals to wherever she went
Snake god of some type told them what Lynch was and intended.
Well since we got a Kevin and Ochenkov skin it'd be possible to get a Lynch and Chary skin
And just like that.. My girl has returned.
@humble ridge You are keeping me on the edge of my seat here. When is part 4? 😄
@earnest jungle How is Lynch in the Land of the Dead? I thought the entire reason she sent the twins there, was because she couldn't enter that place herself?
Probably tomorrow
Ahhhhh heck yeah she's BACK
thank the gods, was really worried they'd tossed her out Viper style
Has anyone finished the BP to get all of the lore bits?
I’m curious to see if the Delphine ties into the twins stealing something from the land of the dead, since it’s a weapons smuggling boat
It was less that she couldn’t go there physically and more the ruler over the land of the dead nursed a grudge against Lynch and so would not given her what she needed.
How far have most folks gotten in the BP? I screen shot 1-4 of the lore bits, mean to upload but need to cut them down some/merge them into one long screen shot instead of a bunch of screenshots
A man of class
?
I don't know why you mentioned BP, but I have 7 event lore chapters unlocked
Should have asked that guy who already had Gar I matched with the other day
Eh, was just repeating the above use, guess event lore bits makes more sense. Wish I could afford to just buy out the whole thing lol.
Interestingly the only detail wrong about this description is the fact that at various points the lore implies the Christian Devil and the Sculptor are separate entities
And that of the two the Sculptor is worse
In the lyrics of one of the songs, it's also stated that hunters do in fact worship The Christian Devil, in their battle against the Sculptor
Both god and the devil, rather
I'd say the wording 'rough equivalent' gives it a pass as a joke
Which song? I'm not too familiar with the Port Sulphur Band songs or the lyrics
Which to me is kind of amazing and unique, something very rarely seen. An entity so undeniably horrible that god and Satan himself are both vehemently against it.
Give me a sec to find it.
Can't remember the name of the song
There's End Will Come which has the lyrics:
"One foot in hell, one sacred ground"
And there's Rise up Dead Man which iirc has the lyrics "Father, Devil let the gunshots ring" implying a prayer to both figures
I might be wrong on the second one but that's what it sounds like she's saying to me
On second listening, she's actually saying Fought the devil, which makes significantly less sense
It looks like the verse before 'One foot in hell' is 'Ain't no grave can hold me down'
So maybe it's saying this person is destined for hell, but their grave is in a church graveyard which is holy ground?
So my entire point is completely kaput. Fantastic.
Hey, that's half the fun of speculating the lore here. Sometimes we're wrong, sometimes right, it's all good!
And I think a lot of it is so vague that multiple interpretations can be correct
It REALLY doesn't help that with the singers accent, it does in fact sound like she was saying "father, devil" instead of "fought the devil"
Honestly, I could see the devil or at least some major influences from hell wanting to help defeat the sculptor
“It’s fought the Devil” not “Father Devil”
Yeah, we figured that out already
Sorry
Based on the biome differences of the land of the undead it seems to follow a similar pattern to purgatory and hell based on the descriptions between BATS and the Rotjaw lore
Personally, I can think of quite a few reasons as to why the devil himself or other conflated deities would want to kick the sculptor's ass
And perchance one step further with where Kevin meets his parents after dying to Mary. Bright world of light that seems to go on forever
Chief amongst them being that souls aren't arriving to hell like they should, per the sculptor's corruption and influence.
I mean, the Moon has direct beef with the Sculptor
I will say Hunters are a diverse group, most of them interpret the Louisiana event through a Christian lens and so syncretize the Sculptor with the Devil.
Yeah, if the souls of the creatures hunters keep killing are being reused, I could see that
A lot of them also feel flat out abandoned by god.
Sinner’s Blues contains the lyrics:
I'll be a sinner, all of my days
I'll be a sinner, all of my days
I ain't waitin' for Jesus, he's left us alone
Is there anywhere that talks directly about how the energy of the boss bounties is used by the AHA? Or I guess now the new the pacts?
Ok, so, I've got a question; If earth is abandoned by the Christian God, does that mean that people who realize this would naturally turn to worshipping everything else? Be it the Sculptor, Satan, or other major deities like the Moon
It seems like that's what happened with some hunters, yes
But I think others still believe in the Christian god to correct what's happening, aka the Reverend and Hail Mary
And the connection between the Sculptor and the Devil is not unfounded
The new regen shot legendary that references the Reverend says it contains holy water, so clearly he's still siding with Jesus and the holy spirit
What if the Sculptor is Beelzebub and Satan isn't the ruler of hell (the land of the dead) and was replaced?
The Clues that you investigate are rifts into the Sculptor’s realm and according to the older lore the air coming from them is hot and reeks of fire and brimstone.
Sorry, technically in this, Satan wouldn't be Satan all things considered. He'd just be called Lucifer, considering Satan translates to The Enemy
And as far as I and certainly most hunters are concerned... The Sculptor is the closest thing to The Enemy
Does that make sense?
Yeah but the point I was trying to make is it’s not for nothing hunters assume the Sculptor is the devil.
Fair enough
When you investigate clues you are thrust into the Sculptor’s realm and it is a fiery dimension of eternal pain and torment
So what you're saying is that there's a chance my theory is correct, and that not only has god abandoned us, but Satan/The Devil/Lucifer isn't in power. The Sculptor is
That's bleak
Somehow even bleaker than normal in the setting
My point is that in the Hunt Universe people interpret the cosmic horrors they encounter through the lenses of their religion, and religion has in turn been influenced by encounters with those same cosmic horrors.
Ah
Making it difficult tondetermine whether the Sculptor is the Devil and the Sculptor’s realm is hell, or the Christian Devil and hell were inspired by Christians encountering the sculptor and his realm.
Agreed, it's why so many elements reused within the lore are interpreted as good or evil depending on which character's pov you read
I will say that, naturally, I think my theory makes a lot of sense, because, y'know, it's my theory. Everyone has their theories, and that's the fun part of all this
Whether the Christian God and Devil even exist is a matter up for debate both in universe and out.
I used to be Christian so I know a fair bit about Christian theology.
Mind if I explain something real quick?
The AHA’s researchers have been pretty evenly divided between people who whole heartedly believe in the occult and people who are skeptical of the occult.
Basically, god has literally abandoned us, left us to our own devices. This isn't much of a matter of debate, it's outright fact for a few sects of Christians. It's why we haven't seen any actual miracles for thousands of years (if you believe).
However, the Holy Spirit, thanks to Christ, is within everyone according to Christianity. That is what protects us.
So, even if god does exist in Hunt and has abandoned us in that timeline as well, there's still good cause to worship him, considering a part of him is within all of us.
However, this is only if you believe in the holy spirit and this specific interpretation of it
Sorry if that was increasingly off topic, I tried to tie it back into Hunt in the end.
Oh I’m fascinated by the various sects of Christianity and their theology.
Would you say this is perchance why Kevin is called a False Saint then? Because if actual miracles haven't happened in thousands of years you could only explain what happened to him as work of the Devil?
This is why I'm trying to teach myself more about Hinduism because a big tenant of theirs is to seek out others' knowledge and understanding of their respective faiths
Basically, yeah, in a way. Also because he doesn't exactly look like the most saintly person ever, probably. But lots of saints weren't very... Saintly.
St. Peter was the patron saint sailors, and all sorts of hardcore shit. St. George is the patron saint of soldiers, knights, archers, etc.
St. Nicholas was the patron saint of prostitutes and other cool shit
Weirdly enough St. Nicholas is also considered the patron saint of sailors, which is probably how I confused him and Peter
Not to circle back to Hinduism, but his design in particular is why I'm so fascinated by his character. Because parts of it like half his skin being blue, the gestures used in his intro and promotional material, even the names used within the Lunae Diaboli, all break from the Christian symbolism so heavily used in the game
Don't know much about the saints, but I'm not surprised there's more than one that are patron saints of sailors given most of Jesus' disciples were fishermen
I think it all ties around to there without a doubt being multiple gods at play.
Christianity is monotheistic, but that doesn't mean that people didn't believe in other powerful spirits or entities. It just means that they were considered demons, fallen angels, etc.
Bits and pieces of the one true God that started doing their own thing
I'd say by this games interpretation it'd be less demons and more entities of varying amounts of malevolence and benevolence
Wdyt?
Gah! I'm so terrible trying to give nuanced answers on the fly! Especially when talking religion in the context of this game 😅
Fair enough lol, I don't blame you
This all got me thinking about the Old Testament and I want a Swarm of Locusts event or something
That'd be so cool
That would be dope. I mean they've already touched on hellfire and now the rain that I like to think of as biblical flooding (Or I hope that's the direction they go within the next event or two).
Don't forget The Darkness™️ that flooded over Egypt during the 10 plagues
Wait we already have that
I honestly was way off when predicting the current trilogy being water that's influenced by the land of the dead. I thought it would be more of another deity that's more water based that is pissed with the way the pacts of the moon trilogy were dealing with things a la inferno
Yeah, same. I wasn't around for Inferno (regrettably) but I was theorizing that they would be inherently connected
But I like this direction. The fact they're bringing back Lynch in this trilogy has me super excited
Same. I was disappointed when Lynch just sorta fucked off to wherever she came from in As Bad As They Seem
Rains that swallowed the sun. Super ominous and I love it
I hope maybe just maybe this means the twins also return
I kinda want the water to turn bloodred at some point during the tides trilogy
YES
They already have something similar in some areas. I think one of the slaughterhouses/pig farms has a bunch of waste-deep gore you can wade through
But it would be significantly cooler if it was just a slightly brackish (as in; unpleasant) crimson
I'd love if they went off canonical script and made it rain blood too, but I already have hard enough of a time seeing through the current thunderstorm wildcard lol
That'd be outright nightmarish, honestly. Probably would make the game several times scarier than it is
Just raining blood while you're getting chased around by other hunters and grunts
Does anyone know if there's lore for Worm Bite anywhere? He's my favorite legendary hunter.
Hey, just curious and not wanting to but in but... We know there are/have been previous sculptors. Are they all one and the same? Or akin to the riders of hell?
I'm fairly certain, at this point, that the Sculptor is a single being, but tbh anything could change that assertion. I'm open to learning
Tough to say if they're all one in the same since the original lore said 'a sculptor'. If future lore could touch on how previous Sculptors' powers manifested, maybe we could glean something from that.
But yeah, anyone? I can't find anything on him
I don't think there's anything else on him except his bio in game
Damn. He's such a cool concept though. A grave digger that didn't quit his job, even after his... Patients? started rising back up
it seems theres a handfull of hunters that kept tending things in the bayou after the infection started
him, mama maye, and maybe a few others
Which is honestly the most respectable thing a hunter can have as a motivation. Just trying to keep some sense of normalcy in what is effectively hell on earth
As far as I can tell, it's a unique being but there are other sinister super natural beings in the world that are either monsters or create monsters and those are things that the other AHA branches or overseas monster hunters fight against
Would you say then that a Sculptor is more a class of entity than a defined entity in and of itself?
in old lore there was the idea of "sculptors" as they identified this being as a particualy bad one
new lore they just call it The Sculptor, its unclear if this is a direct retcon or if the Hunters just decided that this one was bad enough to be granted the title over all other entities that might do similar things
also you have Lynch, who could possibly have been in the same class of being as the Sculptor, however she seems vastly more intelligent. the sculptor seems like a blind-idiot type entity that is merely forcing its way into the world, we never really see any intelligence from it
the sculptor just sees something shiny or malleable and copies/pastes it
I was thinking that the Sculptor could be the Canaanite Baal, less commonly known as Beelzebub (the Lord of Flies)
I think it’s been called that somewhere already
Really? Point me in the direction and I'll take a look
An entry from one of the religious groups I think
The Canaanites are a pretty biblically prevalent group so I'm not surprised
Also, I just discovered something that might vindicate my point about hunters worshipping both god and the devil.
"I called on the devil, and I called on the divine, I'll bring my sins to Jesus, tell him it was a rabbit in the mine"
From Port Sulphur band's song, Rabbit in the Mine
Or something, idk. Just came across those lyrics and it finally clicked as to why i thought what I thought
I don't know, I wouldn't call it a blind idiot type entirely. It's simplistic copy/paste tactic has created internal warring against hunters. It's directly and indirectly caused the death of hundreds (probably closer to thousands) of people, innocent citizens and hunters alike. And all the while it gets to sit back while an entire state's infrastructure implodes and organizations founded to fight things like it collapse on themselves.
How much of the infighting is it directly responsible for tho? Most of it comes from greed or belief.
Really it just shows that both parties are wholly incompetent.
Exactly, it's not directly responsible. It gets to reap the rewards of those hunters' greed or beliefs causing more death and chaos which I think is its sole intent.
The Sculptor as we know it is an inherently malevolent entity
Of course it reaps the rewards of hunters trying and failing to stop it
I feel like that's the conclusion anyone with enough hindsight could come across.
I'm just trying to argue that it's not a stupid means to get to that result. It's a work smart, not hard approach
Fair enough
And I find myself agreeing
There's a certain intelligence behind how it acts and effects things
I've got a hunch. The grounded pact has now made an appearance in two events. And it's been stated the main actors like the Archeologist aren't allowing things like the necrotic rain or infernos get in their way of defeating the Sculptor. So I have to wonder, if there is a trilogy after this one if it's more focused on the corrupted earth itself, the "roots" of the problem if you will.
Fair. I was curious, I remembered reading something in a letter akin to "we have a sculptor on our hands" that made me think they've had versions before.
That was retconned if I remember correctly
that particular piece
Ah lame
it was removed as well I think
Makes sense then
Which sucks because I like the idea of there being multiple entities that were called the Sculptor, due to acting in similar ways
Same. Multiple demons/beings of evil that pop up through the ages...
This one is a plague one, disease and insects...
Yeah, like the others just couldn't get their plans to stick as well as the one affecting Louisiana
That was the original idea. Different "episodes" or "events", that would take place in different parts of the world
Yeah. Lame they cancelled that. Opens up other games or maps or modes
Whatever you wanna call it.
I mean, the letter Kevin sends to international hunters said "it's spreading". he never elaborated on where it's spreading to.
True.
there are other monsters and things around to deal with, as well as other infections that may or may not be the sculptors doing
So I wouldn't give up hope
though there have been past infections, one in the cascades, one in NY, and one in the 1700s in the bayou, but those have all been dealt with
i think the Nian in China may even be considered part of the Sculptor, but I'd hope not
I'd hope it's separate, kind of like the firebird mentioned in one of the weapons mastery entries. I think for Crown & King?
Has anyone determined the function of Rotjaw as a boss? besides of course being water based muscle
Eh, I'm not that worried about it for gameplay stuff, I don't mind the low number of maps/regions much, tho I do hope we get a big ass city akin to Denis in RDR2. moreso preferred the idea of there being other creatures under the sculptor banner that infect and corrupt in different ways, vs oh look it's hell come to earth and the devil is the bad guy
yea that was a thunderbird, hunted by Charlie Salter, plus there's the black dogs/acutal hell hounds mentioned in the new dlc
rotjaw seems oddly separate, but i don't think we have all the info yet
I don’t have the whole picture of the event lore, but I wonder if the original just arrived by happenstance to the dead zone via the Delphine and Sculptor just liked the creature
Oh yeah thunderbird, my bad
Do we know Gar's name?
if it was actually Lynch that brought rotjaw back, then odds are she has something planned
There's a decent chance Gar is the lady from the rotjaw lore
enola maybe
Okay neat I thought so
If the og gar drowned... And lynch shoved enola inside
Which is why she looks dead
Isn't that the daughter of decay?
Yeah, I might be remembering wrong
Herg, I'll be sad if that's not true, she talks about riding the gator as a throne and damn if it doesn't kinda sound like enola riding princess in the deadlands
I’m really glad Lynch is back, I’m not too far along in the event because life stuff, but where is she referenced?
Mastery
It could still be her. Just with some amnesia or possessing Gar in some way, but has that gut instinct to find her princess
The white-haired and black-eyed woman.
Maux. That's Gar's name
BATS, right? For lunch and the twins?
lunch
Oh, her bio says carries the will of those many teeth onto land. Didn't Enola say she could feel teeth growing in her skull or something?
no the autocorrect doest that all the time lmao
Enola does say Lynch tells her she and Princess will be changed
It makes so much sense the last prize of the event is Enola
Did.... did we all just crack the code??
Albeit changed, and not recalling her past
I'm willing to put money down they are the same
Lol
I killed my own BB stock buying it myself, you're on your own lol
But yeah, I talked with my duo partner the first night that Gar looks dead. Plus she's got 'reborn" in her bio
Can we please have Lynch kill the Sculptor and destabilize the entire region, plunging the world into even darker chaos?
I think my girl deserves the spotlight for a while now
Agreed. I'm glad she's back. Maybe we'll get the twins too, coming to bring her down.
@granite shard we may have to add a third member to our 'protecc at all costs' group
?
They got lucky last time. This time, they won't stand a chance lol
Super protective of Kevin and Princess. Might have to add Gar/Enola if the theory is right
Oh you think the gar is Enola?
Oh gotcha
I don’t think they’re the same person, I’m thinking Enola will be like Kevin
And we’ll get her in another event
The wording in the Rotjaw mastery pages and Gar's bio are adding up to Gar and Enola being the same
Oh?
But I could be wrong
It would be interesting if they were the same
Enola talks about feeling teeth growing in her skull, right? Gar's bio says she carries the will of those many teeth onto land
And that she was 'reborn' and that Lynch told Enola she would be changed forever if she wanted Princess back, AND that Gar yearns to ride the back of Rotjaw as her throne (the queen)
I guess what makes me hesitant to think they’re one and the same is that the gar ultimately wants to be the one to like be the apex predator whereas Enola just kinda loves princess
Agreed. I will be shocked if it's not revealed the og gar 'maux'. Too many things that line up from what I've read so far. We know Enola is in the land of the dead, so could Lynch offer to revive her... But the process requiring a body and twisting the mind of the one revived?
Who wants to speedrun finishing up the rotjaw mastery so we can find out 😂😂😂
Oop Tiny beat me to it
That's exactly what i'm thinking
Unless it's the final rotjaw part that explains what happened
Yeah it’s her stuff that seems to be chronicling Enola
So maybe like two souls intertwined? So that Maux still holds pieces of herself and her own consciousness, but now has this gut instinct to find Rotjaw like Enola does?
Could be. Split personality/combined consciousness?
Ugh. Someone unlock the final rotjaw lore and feed it to us hahaha
@humble ridge over here no lifing their way through the many Rotjaw kills to get us this knowledge 😂
You're doing the lord's work
Truth!
His. I am 20/50 right now
gah damn
She, Princess is a she.
Dont gender my alligator
We share a bond and he spoke in depth about his preference of gender.
Bruh...
dude, let it be what it wants to be
how far has Rotjaw lore been revealed so far?
anyone complete it?
But... Crytek devs have explicitly used she and her when referring to Rotjaw
There's no way they aren't trolling
Half the time they say things in this channel I have to wonder that lol
That makes 2 of us
Rotjaw is allowed to identify however he wants. Crytek doesn't own him!
Crytek indeed does own her
It’s all in section 24 A of article 206 XY90
And they state that if Rotjaw deviates from her intended hired purpose they will take the code responsible for said dianosaurs existence and put it in a fish tank full of clown fish
What is the object on the Fang Shearer's belt? It looks like a circle with wire netting, like perhaps some sor of unfamiliar fish trap or a cooking screen?
I haven't seen it but it sounds like you're describing a dreamcatcher
looks like one but appears to be large and functional
guy is also a hunter/trapper
Yeah a snare trap
i h ave a theory about the next biome
i think it might be by the ocean
with shipwrecks
coastal marshes
outter space
Land of the Dead
Win a match that opens a gate and your next match is in Land of Dead
so requires two consecutive wins to reap the rewards.
I'd love if they had a wildcard where the land of the dead is corrupting the earth
get to see sections of it. also be super neat if they had the delphine roaming the outside of the maps on the water areas, blowing it's horn akin to when we extract with teams incoming
Unless the next map is set in the early cretaceous I doubt that.
I have a sneaking suspicion the next map will or may include less waterlogged areas
Which does make me wonder if rotjaw will be significantly easier to find
Usually the drought happens before the rainfall
Next map might be snow
I keep seeing people say they want something like this
If the next map is snow, people will finally have a half decent reason to use the phantom. His cape and mask blend in perfectly
Same with Revenant
I've joked about this in the past but if we get a snow map we should get a white version of the headsman
Fucken Simo Hayha over here
YEEEEAH ⛷️ 🏔️ 🌲 🇫🇮
A lot of people don't necessarily fully realize it but the Headsman is basically dressed up as an old timey sniper, sniper's hood included
Of course I doubt that's intentional but it's interesting regardless
Hes also more historically accurate in terms of actual plague doctors than the actual plague doctor skin we have
Yeah, pretty much. There were actual cases of beak masked plague doctors though.
One was notably apart of Italy's Black Death experience. Forgot his name but I did research on the topic in highschool
Wow funnily enough I chose the black death as a research topic in school too
I even wrote a short fictional story about this vampire masquerading as a plague doctor offering a "cure."
It took place during the height of the bubonic plague in Europe and I had intended to expand on it but lost interest and motivation and never did
I also took a lot of reference from Michael Kirkbride and his interpretation of what a vampire is 😅
That’s the vibe 🤣
Simo Häyhä is my spirit animal 😂😂
It literally be like that in the bayou 😅
Yeah if you notice one little detail out of place it's already too late for you
💀 💥 🔫
I have blown mags of Avto into bushes cuz they moved funny. We ain’t playin 🤣
I guess my name finally updated 3 days later wtf 👀
Why is the gun emote a squirt gun!? 🤣
When did that happen lmao
Afaik it's been like that for years
Yeah it has
Because guns are bad
Discord should be 18+ with some of the stuff that floats around but apparently guns is where we draw the line
Rotjaw mastery 4
“Not with that girl controlling it from the shore”
So looks like enola’s found her bestie
That's what a couple of us theorized yesterday
I feel like the fact that she’s controlling rotjaw is pointing to her not being the far
Gar even lol
I could be wrong but yeah I think they’re not one and the same
The last third of the entry could maybe still hold some truth to the theory. But, it's not as strong in my mind as it was yesterday
The gar’s lore does include a mention of that Algiers ice
SHall see
Yeah I’m curious
This entry is also making me learn new things. I am today years old when learning Algiers is a neighborhood in New Orleans
But why an ice repair company?
how the frick do you repair ice
No clue, esp since they’re doing electrical repairs it seems
I know they needed to use modern refrigeration techniques, but I thought that was closer to the first decade of the 20th century
I’m not sure since I think that gator is RJ
Yeah, was just thinking it was from someone trying to get rotjaw prior to the delphine
But on second read, doesn't sound like it
"the Relic"
Gotcha
Could be her capture tho, before they crossed with her back to this plane, when the duo were still together
She's also (likely) undead, don't forget that
Well so is Ochenkov and I like her
and tbh whose to say the injection doesn't actually kill every hunter and just revives them
reviving your hunter has a lore explanation
I'm going down the rabbit hole I didn't want about the history of refrigeration and I'm coming up with more questions than answers
I wish they'd put a timestamp on that invoice to help me out
lol
Yeah, I had to do similar research when making the hunt dnd campaign my crew is running. do not want to consider refrigeration
would be cool to have a time stamp
cause I suspect this is either before rotjaw is moved, or when she is moved.
Like, the only talk of electric refrigeration I can find is for modern homes. I can't find anything related to commercial use. And it's all dated past 1900
Yeah, I went back to check if that Carmichael woman was in the first lore entry for the event
I hope the lore explains
they have power, sure
and rotjaw has electricity
use her as a fuelless generator
i get that
I gotta look at the charms, maybe one of them is the "relic"?
i suspect it's something to do with Lynch or Chary... would think Lynch since she's come back
but idk about the fridge connection
The only thought I have that can tie undead gator to ice is the fact huge slabs of ice were used to preserve bodies in morgues. But that's it.... it's a stretch to say the least lol
huh. yeah, idk. I know they would ship ice down for $$$ in sawdust traincars and shit
extent of my knowledge
Actually I could see that. If refrigeration machines relied on a lot of power or hard to obtain refrigerants it only makes sense a man who is part of a bleeding edge technological industry would see this new energy source as a money maker
and fall prey to someone whispering in his ears
or... something
part of me thinks this is her origin story, how she got the metal on her
not the delphine
well, "origin story"
i guess we have the actual story
moreso this explains why she's coated in metal
Definitely. The entry makes it sound like this Dellowit guy thought he'd be the new Edison using this supernatural gator to create a whole new source of energy
instead they let her channel the electricity generated by rot or such
I'm going to take a closer look at the metal on her the next time I play
I really hope they drop her model someday
While home and consumer use of refrigeration starts to pick up in the 20th century, Meat Packers and other industries related to food production started using refrigerators during the late 19th century.
This is true.
Source: I know probably too much about the 19th century cause I'm a history buff
I guess I was hyper focused on trying to find how electricity was involved in the process in particular
Meat packers would kickstart much of refrigeration out of necessity
It's how we got cold storage, for the most part
Gotcha. So this dude is looking to our sweet toofy girl as a power source
It seems that way. Because I'm sure it wasn't cheap to keep things cold artificially back then
I would assume that since Dellowit mentions the cage around Rotjaw this comes from After the Delphine returned to the land of the living and whomever experimented on Rotjaw conducted their experiments
Perhaps the “Relic” mentioned here is the strange whispering cargo the Delphine was transporting
Perhaps the Relic is none other than Lynch herself
It is obvious at this point to learn Rotjaw’s story we will need both her Book of Monster Entries and the Tide if Shadows story lore
Like Dellowit knew someone from the Delphine's voyage into the land of the dead? Maybe heard about Princess and knew about this "relic" and saw $$$ signs?
Thinking more Dellowit was on the Delphine when it traveled to the land of the dead
Like this whole entry just smacks of greed for fame and/or fortune
I’m going to boot up the game and take a look at the story entries again
Wait! They are on the Delphine! I didn't reread the first entry
I knew the names sounded familiar
I think I glossed over and only looked at the crew names
Oh shit okay cool then yeah lines up
Oh damn, so they knew. The passengers knew all along what they were bringing into the land of the dead (the relic) and what they'd come out with
In this fictional character's defense, if YOU were in his place, you'd also probably do the same thing and make the same mistakes.
Think about it: a theoretical infinite energy source, that is a living, yet undying, creature.
You'd also want to exploit that
I don’t think that’s quite it
The Delphine did not intentionally sail into the land of the dead
^
They were transporting cargo and passengers when a Hurricane struck
Unless this guy made some shit happen to get them there?
Clearly he was after her, and knew about her
I have noticed a pattern in the events that proceed voyages into the land of the dead: the first is a hurricane, the second is mass death.
Enola sailed into the land of the dead after being splattered with the guts of a sailor who was killed when English ships began firing upon each other in confusion during the war of 1812
The Delphine sailed into the land of the dead after colliding with a circus tent that was washed into the river along with its occupants and performers inside
It sounds like the Carmichaels at least know what was in the cargo? Or one of the unknown passengers. The logs mention no one will say what they're transporting. Frederick probably doesn't since he outwardly mentioned the whispers
Passengers: Rest unknown is sus. I'd love to see if we get another white haired cameo
Given who’s on the crew I assume they’re smugglers
Perhaps the AHA hired the Delphine to transport some kind of occult cargo
Nice I'll add it to the list
Why would the AHA hire a vessel that's transporting shit besides occult artifacts? In case things go wrong it's a hell of a lot more sus when there's a bunch of dead passengers alongside occult shit washing ashore
Just a genuine question I have cause it doesn't make much sense to me
At this point I'm not going to speculate anymore until I unlock the fourth BP entry which I'm hoping is tonight
You make a good point
The more I find out about the AHA the more I realize how much in common they have with another nefarious group of bad people in history whose name I can say
The new character has a license plate with the date 1885 as part of his armor.... the first plate wasn't issued to 1902-1903???? is he a time traveler? and if so why only go back 15-20 years
Who's name you can or can't say?
Tbf it’s historical fiction it’s not completely historically accurate in every sense and element
The first ever license plate to be issued was I believe in 1893 in France or some shit tho lol
It's a ship name plate, not a car one I'm fairly sure
Will have to look again to be absolutely sure
Guns, and Hunters
Importing guns legally is difficult
And they’ve alienated a lot of the domestic suppliers
Not to mention they’re bringing in Hunters from across the county and across the globe
Some of whom will not be able to legally enter Louisiana
Either because they’re wanted criminals or because they’re not white enough to be allowed entry into the United States because of Nativist Immigration policies
Ye olde Chinese Exclusion Act
Does anyone know the story about the wolves in the bayou
You mean the wolf family or actual wolves
If you mean the Frisks (Luna, Dire, Lonely), basically Lonely Wolf tried to kill daddy dearest and failed, running to the swamps to not get his butt kicked. Luna (mom) and Dire (dad) followed. The Devil's moon saw the addition of Frau Pertcha, and depending on dawn/dusk mode she might bring them back together or kill Lonely.
I think it's also safe to assume that they came to an understanding too since cardinal rain's first entry in the BP lore mentions the wolf family, and all three had been grounded pact last event
Sweet! Would be really neat if they actually spelled that out and didn't make it so freaking cryptic. I was really kinda hoping that lonely would get messed up by pertcha and become the next wandering boss as a hell werewolf. But glad the family is back together. I didn't catch that they're all grounded. missing things all over ugh.
Yeah I think Perchta brought them back together and recruited them to the Grounded pact
it was easy to miss, they had legendary hunter bundles for all three pacts. bc I'm insane I went through and noted all of the legendary hunters who were aligned to pacts lmao
Honestly Grounded pact is cool it's just a bunch of native Americans, a family of wolves, people who want to preserve the wild and a lady from the Alps that likes to dress like a goat/germanic myth
and dire wolf was locked into grounded (since BB hunters weren't in those bundles)
Dire and Luna wolf were both Grounded locked hunters during devils moon but the lonely wolf was not
But it's safe to assume lorewise lonely wolf is Grounded because of his connection to Perchta
I don't know if that's canon lore though
Yeah, I remember pulling luna out of cold storage for that event. I just didn't know we had confirmation that he's not lonely anymore
In my head canon the Frisk's are a happy family of murderers again
Lonely is the son, Dire is the father and Luna is the mother
I know lol
Said the same somewhere up above. meant that we know for sure that Lonely is back with the fam
I hope they confirm it then
Be super cool if we got a WW wandering boss and the event centers around them teaming up to bring it down
Lonely's got it in his head that he needed to be this Alpha wolf and that he needed to kill the "Alpha" of the family to achieve this
I can only imagine how his mother felt
Probably heartbroken that her son felt the need to be isolated and alone
idk, they all seem kinda feral, though she seems the most sane from the devil moon post
I don't think it's specified anywhere that Dire wolf abused his son or anything like that
Definitely seemed to want to get her son back tho
I mean most of the hunters we have are
not wrong
Occultism, religious extremists, killers etc
They're all pretty feral in that regard
I thought Dire was his brother
I did too for a bit until I realized he wasn't lol
Nope! lol. I remember stuggling and giving up on trying to get people to realize dire is dad
lol
Be cool if Leonel Frisk had a brother though
Or a sister
Then it'd be a spitting image of my family
Ofc my dad is like a dog that barks all the time, my mom is a grizzly you do NOT want to poke, I'm a lazy sloth and my sister is a cat that always has it's claws out
We're a family of mixed mammals
I like the themed groups we're getting now, and the pacts. more fun to hunt with my buddies knowing our hunters all are buds too
The primal pact is dope
agreed. I want some more wolfy guys/gals, lonely and felis are my favs, love the skulls
it's expanded far from the OG "law, voodoo, night hunters" collective
Primal pact is a bunch of gator men and a water lady who may or may not have the ability to control Rotjaw and other stuff from the land of the dead
is hornback not also primal?
Nah I don't think her and Reptilian are on good terms
Neither was skinned and Reptilian until they ended up putting their differences aside
So who really knows
Hornback is not in any pact though gameplay wise but lore wise I'm not sure
I feel like she'd be more smuggler
Huh, I need to note who is in what pact, didn't look hard at the primal one as I figured all the scaley folks were there
was happy to see gunrunner and rat get some love
Skinned, Ward, Reptile and Gar are all in Primal pact
Gar is probably the leader of Primal pact too
yeah, se talks about wanting to be queen
kinda like how enola does...
gonna leave that really dead horse alone tho
def think she's in charge, or at least is by the end
I feel like Gar is essentially this water deity that has conduit control over certain entities from the land of the dead including Rotjaw
Dunno. I really think she is Enola, and that the OG gar drowned and got revived (kinda) by lynch, but she can't remember the 80 years spent in LotD, only some of the bits of riding Princess, teeth, being queen, etc... won't know until someone gets to the end tho. I doubt she has control over things from the land of the dead now, as I'm sure RotJaw is just as happy to kill her as she is to kill anyone else wandering around her waters. Ugh. Sorely tempted to buy it out and just unravel it all lol
but I don't wanna speculate much more on it, until there's some actual facts n shit lol
Her hunter description also mentions her as "Maux" so maybe her full name was "Enola Maux?" Now she simply goes by Gar now.
maybe? I looked it up, Enola is just "alone" spelled backwards and means solitary, and Maux means ill.
And we've got another player/object in the ring with this "Relic"
We do a little memery
she's primal
in the first gar lore bit from the event it mentions how the reptillian is super stealthy
but his "children" aren't and it calls out the scaled ward & the hornback
Does it mention skinned at all?
A part of me assumed they'd all be primal
I don't know where I got it in my head that hornback wasn't
Maybe someone who told me
nah but he's locked into the primal pact
so we can assume he's there too
I think the reptilian's polycule came to an agreement to put aside the wanting to kill each other for long enough to kill rotjaw 😂
I wonder why they want to kill Rotjaw in the first place
I mean I get why Grounded and Lunar might want to
And smuggler would do it for the bounty
But Primal wanting to kill it sounds weird
Since Gar might be controlling it
They want the power she has, right? I thought there whole thing wasn't killing... it was control
from the blurb on the even page
event
I figured the primals wanna kill it simply because they want to be top of the food chain
^
Well knowing my experience with bomb lances a bunch of people dressing up like aquatic predators wielding bomb lances is definitely something up there on top of the food chain
Do love me a bomblance
can see the terror in their eyes as they miss with the shotgun
delicious
and the new frag bolt? so good.
Yes. I do love screaming like a manic as a charge a trio with one while my team lines up their shots (I forgot what dying is)
it either goes really really well, or im eating mud near instantly
i hope they give us a waxed sticky. in the actual tool it's a waxed stick. tired of getting RJ on the end of her snooter and not in her mouf
The new bomb lance skin we got for the skinned questline is probably my favorite
I love the red
It pairs nicely with the Lord's prayer uppercut skin
same! still holding out to get the scrapbeak ones
have a small collection of them
looted off other hunters
The scrapbeak one is nice too but I like the simplicity of the skinned one
Scrapbeak one goes well with Devil's advocate hunter
the screw? I like the red and the hoo
hook
i like em both. been running the screw all this week, may not blend in well but it's too sexy to leave
Yeah it's something's screw
I can't remember the name but it's my go-to bomb lance skin
Somebody say bomb lance?
YES
Mmmmmm yes
Nola's screw
Getting a direct shot with one
YES
I wish I was playing right now
chef's kiss
Nola's screw or Enola's screw?
I think that was what the skinned's boat was called before it got wrecked
And when he salvaged what he could he made that bomb lance
Gotcha. I figured it was a nod to NOLA
It's probably what he named his boat after
New Orleans, Louisiana
And then in typical hunt bullshittery the boat was destroyed because everything wants to shit on Louisiana
can't have shit in lousiana
When I first fought rotjaw I was saying oh dude look it’s like lightning in the water, then I read the first chapter in the Monstrum, I’m a shrimpleton
It's sorta like lightning I guess
Wamasu moment
If I had a dollar for everytime I had to fight a giant reptilian monster that can conduct electricity in a swamp I'd have $2.
It's not a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
lol was running around blackwood not too long ago killing those things. I wonder if we'll see weapons and such that use a similar power...? Or a more traditional boss.
I have yet to even start blackwood
Last I played elder scrolls Elsweyr just dropped and I didn't even play through that
I think my eso+ is still subbed too
I haven't played in like over a year now
I just can't bring myself to jump back into that grind
Fair, they just dropped Necrom. Should cancel the ESO if not using it tho, like 150 a year down the drain. So many BB you could buy!
live your life tho lol
am the only one of my OG crew that still plays, and really only in hope someday they'll wanna pick it back up and I'll be able to throw money and gear at em to catch em up... anyway. ESO isn't hunt. Belongs in the land of Off Topic.
The twins only ever saw the land of the dead ruled by the Lord of the dead, right? Been looking for more mentions of it to see if it's the same area rotjaw/enola are in/from
or rather, get a better idea of what it looks like there
The Legendary hunter from the Myth of the Moors dlc has also traveled to the underworld to kill hellhounds. I don't think they're the same kind of dogs Jos and Fin fought to obtain the first weapon, but given it had fiery glowing eyes, I wonder if it was also located near the hall of fire. I've been HC'ing that the land of the dead has its own unique set of biomes and how to enter and exit each one differs.
But my question would be can you traverse from one to another within the land of the dead and how
The land of the dead might be like a nightmare version of our world, where the sea just turns into whatever the Delphine sailed into, it’d also kinda support what we’re read about in terms of what the hunters go through when they take a clue
That last part feels familiar
"Just as still waters turn foul, stagnation leads to decay. Warriors must remain ever drifting."
Is it safe to say that the only reason we have foreign weapons in the bayou is because of the carcass gunrunner?
Sorry is it still a theory or is it known that the captain from the diaries in the event is the same captain as the wayward helmsman? Been thinking about it as I've read more and more chapters of the event and they both kinda line up?
Been thinking about that too. It really does seem like it but I haven’t got all the chapters unlocked. I ask myself the question who else could that captain be if not the captain of that one ship.
The wayward helmsman has his own entry in the story but I'm not sure if he is or isn't the captain of the Delphine
Leaning more toward he is
His character animation has him stumbling in like a drunken bastard, and in the first story entry of the event, the one that mentions the passenger logs exclaims that the captain is "excited about the storm" and the person talking quotes "I'd be happy too if my job was drinking in deck all morning."
Now evidently it could be any sailor or captain he's talking about because sailors love their liquor
As well as that in one of the entries it says that the captain of the Delphine did jump overboard with a bottle of whiskey (or some alcoholic beverage can't check rn) so that would make sense
Yeah I'm on board with the wayward being captain of the Delphine
But I can't really be shore of it
But I'm glad people are seaing it my way
I bet the Delphine had sea’n some things (idk)
Indeed
Gar lore. Fish lady gives me lovecraftian vibes. I need lore
I want Worm Bite lore God damn it. He's so cooool and ✨ mysterious✨
Why is a fucking gravedigger still in the bayou, when he could literally relocate anywhere else.
Why is he still doing his actual job + taking extra precautions (namely putting bullets in corpses that try to get back up)?
I need to know!
Clearly he is in..
Grave danger!
Another King in Yellow fan. Nice.
I'd assume we'll get info eventually; Reptilian's story didn't flesh out until the last few questlines and this event; there's also 2 more Tide Events to come!
He has a religious background too
church bells play during his animation and he wears a small crucifix
there's a few hunters we don't know much about
like Shrine maiden and what her connection with Ronin is
Seriously, if this game had a katana, I would embrace my inner samurai and do nothing but sword runs. The Asian characters are all amazing
I'd go Sekiro on some mfs
or Tsushima
whichever you prefer but I like them both
Nioh too
Nioh is good
This is like the holy trinity of Japanese themed video games
Listen to the official #TideOfShadows soundtrack: Marked for Death! 💀🎶
Unleash your hunting prowess with style as you listen to the new event song, brought to you by none other than the talented Port Sulphur Band, formed by our very own developers.
Let the music guide you through the shadows🤠
Get H...
I knew the Port Sulfur Band did a new song for the event
Since all their songs exist in universe what relation do y’all think this has to Rotjaw
I'd assume the 16 souls aboard is talking about the Delphine
I would
There's a couple verses that are confusing or vague that I'm sure will be cleared up as more BP chapters are unlocked
Not to rain on your parade, but after reading the first Helmsman chapter I don't think he is the captain
But, I think it's the same captain he's working with when fighting Rotjaw
Have you seen the Yellow Sign?
The fact that he's called the helmsman should've given away the fact that he's not the captain
Haven't gotten that far yet so you can understand
I lack critical information
Aye.
I do wonder a bit on the ideas of the different pacts. Like I'm with team smugglers but that's mainly because I do would wanan help save the bayou but if I could get some cash with it why not. I wonder if they have anymore deeper means then what we know already
I think it’s different opposing forces of the natural order of things. Grounded wants balance, Smugglers restore and Primals want to be on top
basically no one really heros but they all wanna end this in different ways with rotjaw eating people.
I simp rotjaw
Gator mommy ftw

I REGRET NOTHING
Hugs bomb lance
Don't end up like that one trainer and her Dolphin
Nah dolphins are evil. Gators are just swamp puppies!
I'm pretty sure some people in places like India and Africa would disagree with you there
Fun fact: if you intentionally starve a 20ft Crocodile it will actively hunt human life and decimate an entire third world village
Dolphins are more like the frat bros of the sea, so more obnoxious than evil imho. And to keep this on lore topic, wtf happened to the manatees? They are local to southern Louisiana, but I don't recall anywhere talking about what happened to them
I must know what happened to my precious sea cows
I’m curious about that too. I imagine they fled similar to the gators due to water devils
untold ecological devestation
New Manatee Hunter/Boss
We'll be fighting the Sculptor till the sea cows come home! I'm sorry I'll let myself out...
It would be kinda cool for one of the next Tide events to bring up a hunter who is championing for the waters of the Bayou and the critters that live in it. Could have that Siren aesthetic since manatees are classified as Sirenia
Dolphins and Gators are animals, neither is good and neither is evil.
dolphins are definitely evil, the fact that they're animals doesn't exclude them from all morality.
or well, dolphins definitely have the capacity for evil, and i'm sure some are
Dolphins are definitely one of the few animals capable of morality
Anyway ecologist hunter please yes
I just want a badass chick who is chilling in the water, lures a hunter to kneel at the edge of a boardwalk, grabs them by the scruff of their shirt and pulls them down into a watery tomb.
Whatever you're into, I guess
kinda the vibe i get from gar
I meant it as a "yes, and" to ecologist hunter. Because why not both
I guess Beast hunter is kind of like an Ecologist
well more so a Zoologist
but he only studies one type of animal
The Researcher watching this conversation transpire
We already have a hunter skin with his master’s degree
Alright so what was wrong with the moon and why is Kevin "false saint" involved
Everything was wrong with the moom and should be forgotten
- Chary was doing some rituals on ppl that the moon found distasteful and made kevin aka some random kid a dark souls protagonist so he can stop Chary
Or something like that
Hey I have a couple questions and would like some clarifications: Is the infection just Louisiana or are there other places but Louisiana is just special/more severe?
The latter
ok thanks
Mr chary was doing magical experiments on people that by and large led to them dying until Ochenkov’s widow survived (and came back wrong).
This was all in Kevin’s front yard, he was watching afraid to say anything since he was living alone (parents died) & chary was terrifying. Unfortunately chary knew he was there and was like “hey kid want to do some experimentation w me. We’re saving the bayou” so Kevin reluctantly helped out until chary was like “ok time for you to enter the magic death circle”
So Kevin enters the magic death circle and is consumed by flames, at which point the moon is like “yo, what he’s doing is literally killing me and is evil. You’re a good kid, go kill him”
So Kevin tries killing chary, and fails, and they’re in this game of cat and mouse for a while. Eventually chary does something that leads to Kevin being filled w snakes, and pulls all but two out of him, and is abt to kill Kevin when Kevin escapes
Kevin’s then hiding in a shack like wow this sucks I hate all of this when chary sends the witch hunter, Hail Mary, and the viper after him (promised all three different things & said Kevin’s evil)
They see Kevin and are like “wow that’s a kid” but still try and kill him bc everyone trusts the AHA. Snakes show up and then they fight that & the viper does some weird shit where they take the last snake (I think one of Kevin’s snakes? It’s been a bit since I read the SM lore) and have it bite them and they’re like “Aw shit Kevin’s not evil he’s a little drowned cat and chary’s evil”
And then they do lunar pact shit and light the bayou on fire
and choose to reject it
What
Spot on explanation
Chapter Seven reveals the Cargo of the Delphine: Guns, Elicit Goods, and something that whispers.
Dolphins are horrible, I will not link to the evidence, but content warning it's unpleasant
I didn't know what you were trying to say before you edited the message to fix it
huh, so Finch and Chary are just directly beefing now
I'm assuming from Chapter 9 and 10 that the tie in with the Cane shows that Finch infact ISNT responsible for Rotjaw coming, and it was infact Chary doing evil things
and now he's trying to trick the wolf pack (all the wolf based hunters i assume) into thinking it's Finch when it wasn't?
Can you post screencaps?
i... don't think so?
Screen caps like this?
ah. if you did it i'm sure it's fin
first two are from Chapter 10
both times they mention a Cane very specifically
this'll be interesting
Finch potentially finally coming out of hiding?
IF a Finch and Chary battle is due
It would be interesting to see finch get more involved
Finch hunter when
well I mean he got fucked up by the twins iirc
like
had to ditch his body and hide in the land of the dead or some shit
Lynch got fucked up by them
Finch took control of the AHA after the twins stuff happened since lynch killed huff
right yeah
Too many names 😂
Doesn’t help that lynch and finch sound similar
who made the Black serum
Yeah, she’s been brought up in lore again
She’s in the land of the dead and is bringing Enola back to the world to see princess (rotjaw) again
ok now who's enola
I'm only on capter 10 xD
OH WAIT
NEVERMIND
just clicked once I reread princess xD
This patch has been huge for the lore side of things
oh yeah 100%
and it's another Trio set of events
meaning there's gonna be a LOOOOT
The lore gets a bit more confusing now
I guess confusing is the wrong word
Rather it is getting more complicated to follow properly
A lot is happening and it's all splintered
I think the hunt lore is generally hard to follow since most of it is gated behind weapon progression
I'm confused when it says "present" day and the date is 1895 but guns like the Dolch is '96
It’s an interesting way of providing the info but also… pls it’s so hard to find sometimes
Also as you said lots of names to follow
Not all of them easy to remember
Gunrunner
I’m trying to figure out the timeline of the moon trilogy to this latest one
Since this is summer 1895
Carcass Gunrunner steals prototype weapons @rotund ferry
Was the moon trilogy winter/spring 1895?
Yeah I don’t think they did
they're are plans too
There's a date 1904 in Devil's moon
That’s not the time it happened
The lore is presented as a later researcher compiling documents
somewhere 40 years into the future btw
That’s supposed to be like “wow, years after the moon stuff, things kinda became urban legends”
Yeah so present day 1904 looking back on documentation from 1895
"the hunters of this era called them grunts, we think they might have been what we consider the modern day zombie"
ah, i love the grunt monstrum
noooo nooo
wayyy further
like
Prob more like either 1950s-modern day
1940's
So 40 yrs in the future from 1895 would be ww2
yep
big giveaway is the "Hunters from this ERA"
indicating it's been a LOOOONG TIME
it also indicates there are still hunters too
Imagine if the researcher prospective is actually some German scientist or archeologist researching into the occult similar to how Call of duty zombies story plays out
which zombies we talking about
I've made subtle connections to games like resident evil and cod zombies and to hung
cause anything past Bo2 is god awful
I think hunt even features a cod zombies Easter egg
Mostly WaW, bo1 and bo2
the good timeline
Since those are mainly the only ones I've played
I also played exo zombies from advanced warfare which was actually super fun but it has nothing to do with the Canon timeline of cod zombies
but yeah I like how hunt has done it's lore
everything that's happened in the past and all the matches we play are like stories being told to a younger generation or something like that
alongside the research journals from black
Trying to keep the time line straight has proven very difficult.
I wish they had a like lore compendium where things would be put after you unlock them in an easier to read format
Like “read all the lore about this person”
I mean if Zelda can keep a semi straight timeline so can hunt
And also include event lore since after the event ends you have to go to the wiki to read it
Zelda’s timeline is made up spaghetti that does not really exist lmao
Like it exists for a book and there is no effort from the devs to make it actually make sense or continue 😂
Zelda lore is the story equivalent to Bethesda game studio spaghetti coding
But its still so good
slenderman lore is good 💀
The main problem is with trying to make the Lynch-Arc mesh with the Chary-Kevin Arc
That's just Germanic myth
wasn't even that
I think I’d be fine saying the lynch stuff happened in 94
And the Kevin stuff started late 94 and ended mid 95
Slenderman was literally just a creation for some spooky art contest that garnered a lot of popularity... THAT IS IT
nothing else
Then the bayou recovers for like a month or two before rotjaw
Most of ancient mythology is a very captivating subject
Imo it would make the most sense to push the game into 96 now, but that will prob happen by next year
I've heard they wanna push it up to the 1900's
as the dev's said "it's been 1895 for 5 years"
Like in the past, it felt like a lot of disjointed ideas
And now they’re finally bringing them all together
Slenderman (or Der Großmann) does in fact have roots in Germany, but at that time it was a treated as a Hansel and Gretel type fairytale to teach kids important life lessons rather than an iconic horror video game character and spooky internet sensation
Except the Huff was alive in 1895
I know a lot of people didn’t love the moon stuff but I think it was rly important for actually pulling the greater pool of legendary hunters into the story
Ugh I hope they’ll retcon that and push it back to 93 or 94 since things feel so tight rn
there is no way everything that has happened in hunt hasn't only happened over the course of 6 months
Like there needs to be time for the AHA to splinter after huff and for chary to gain prominence
Wtf are we talking about 😭😭😭
Deep occult lore
And then for all of the Kevin stuff to happen
Russel Chambers letters to his father indicate that the collapse of the AHA had to have happened in the space of a Summer, as his last letters make reference to the Autumn Hurricane season
That's what I mean by the story feeling a bit fractured because when it comes to the information we're given there tends to be some stuff up for debate and interpretation
Really wish we had a standalone monster hunter hunt themed game
Like imagine how cool that would be if we had a Witcher 3 styled hunt game
Simply a hunter doing hunter things
Actually no it is outright impossible for Huff to have died any time prior to the Summer of 1895
Because Huff was alive when William Salter escaped for the second time in the spring/summer of 1895.

Just make rotjaw enter the bayou in 96
Idk why timelines seem to be the hardest things for games to figure out
I don’t think it would work
Bc you still need huff dying -> chary’s rise to prominence-> little Kevin Linus’s big adventure
Like at earliest I could see this working it would be jan 96
Hurricane Season starts in Autumn according to the Russel Chambers lore
I’m also curious to see the timeline for desalle falling
But unfortunately the Russel Chambers Lore and the Voelkel Lore tell us the Lynch-Twins show down also happened in the Autumn
That did happen in 1894
Okay, so then I wonder abt Lulu’s lore since it had her and Sofia tearing up desalle and it seemed inhabited still then
Like I would assume it would be closer to 95 since they also joined the hunt
The Vetterli lore indicates that DeSalle fell the same year a Blizzard hit Louisiana
The only blizzard that hit Louisiana in the 19th century was in February of 1894
It’s possible that there could be one that hit later on since it’s not a one historical relation
I don’t think they said snow specifically but yeah I think the implication is there
Desalle as a map visually is so funny to me bc like… that’s not Louisiana
Lmao
You can tell a writer hasn't lived through a hurricane season when they think it starts in Autumn lol
And I think there was another blizzard in 1895 if I'm remembering correctly
I'm imagining the hurricane was more so from Occult means
Interesting. Kind of a bummer that the game is set in 95. Would be great for a potential snow map. So close😋
it's been implied to be snow
plus they intend on having the date change soon
I'll have to reread the Chambers lore, because hurricanes can definitely happen in Autumn, but the start of hurricane season is June 1st
Yeah, I didn’t hear anything specific either, but David mentioned they are working on a new biome that is NOT set in Louisiana though
which also indicates in the lore that The Sculptor is spreading
rapidly
if in only 12 month's it's spread across god knows how much of Louisiana and into a NEW STATE
or the more likely scenario
The Sculptor found another pocket of influence it could use in another state
If it’s not a snow biome, any ideas what other possibilities it could be?
well we already have forest/swampy biome
then good ole' fashion western biome
Industrialized?
Mountain mine city?
it's either gonna be a city esque biome or snowy
cause I don't think they'll do any deep forests
What about a dockyard? That would be cool. Something with a lot of elevation and maybe some ships we could board?
I was hoping for a more urban setting for the next map so mining city would be cool
It could be a big one haha
plus it'd be to linear and... not very distinctive?
if the entire map was a port that is
Or perhaps not just a dockyard but the whole city, lighthouse included with a little bay where docks stretch from either end
if there was a segment that was a city port then THAT'D be interesting
Even if they do stay within the context of New Orleans or an urban setting, you can play up the biome representing winter with the way the vegetation looks
I’m imagining something like the Italian coast with steep cliffs so it wouldn’t be flat, but set into mountainside almost with docks stretching outward
oh no they aren't leaving the US
that's for sure
This would be super cool
Something LiKE the italian coast😋
And you don’t know that😋 Who knows
I'd hope if they introduce snow it's a wildcard that can affect all of the maps
we have a vague idea
I figure the maps probably gonna have a more green focus
like the new England territories
vermont, new york, new hampshire ETC ETC
Returning to fall of DeSalle. The basic timeline seems to be: things start to go to shit in the Spring of 1894 and deteriorate over the summer. Despite this people largely ignore the outbreak.
Then in August of 1894 a riot breaks out in Pelican Prison and the rioters successfully take over the prison and begin executing the guards.
Despite the efforts of Hawkshaw jack the experiments conducted in Pelican Island Prison become public knowledge.
This lore further confirms that Huff could not have been killed in the Summer of 1894 because Jabez, the warden of Pelican Island Prison, writes to Huff in August of 1894
Would be cool if they included that prison stuff into an event or something. Ghosts of the prisoners or guards take it over for an event or something. Oooo, if it was the guards as ghosts, the ghosts could continually open and lock random doors so that the compound is constantly changing during the match
i... don't think they wanna delve into that territory of occult xD
i'm fairly certain they've purposefully steered well and clear of ghosts
though it does sound interesting
aside from the whole Kevin's mother waking his ass up thing
Based on everything I’ve read the Devil’s Moon Trilogy either took place entirely within the last four months of 1895 or took place over the course of 1896.
big "I didn't raise no quitter" vibes
Why not?😋 Original witch boss was pretty ghostlike. Though I don’t particularly like that boss anyway😂 An event could test the waters there with some special infected ghosts? Could they go invisible but can still be heard and shot? Does regular gunfire even affect them? Could be interesting
I’m imaging haunted wails as I enter the compound
Are ghosts even player interactable or just cosmetic and used for the locking doors and shifting corridors mechanic?
So is the fang shearer mentioned in any of the event chapters or whats his deal
So just noticed the drilling is basically just a copy and paste of the Luftwaffe Drilling, just with the barrels switched out for the rifle rounds and underbarrel shotgun. The least Crytek could have done was change the markings on the top strap (https://youtu.be/ANdKiodm5W0?t=627), as it has the exact same caliber marking of "9.3x74mmr", a round not developed until 1900. It also contradicts the rounds' head stamps, clearly seen as 40-60 WCF. I am curious though how they will describe its origins in the Book of Weapons when the event is over or will they opt for a generic explanation of the archetype of "combination guns", similar to how most of the melee weapon entries are.
In this video, we finally have proof of the purpose of the Luftwaffe drilling!

I'm behind on reading over this.... Chary is back? he would be hiding out in the land of the dead
Doesn't the Drilling also feature a variant in which the two top barrels are shotgun and the lower single barrel is a rifle?
The one we have in the actual game is vice versa
that was the main model of drilling
M30 drillings where 2 12 gauge barrels + a high caliber lower barrel
yes and no, Lynch was hiding out in the land of the dead. chary somehow got inside the land of the dead to trick the boat guys into freeing Rotjaw
now chary is trying to get the wolf pack (group of hunters) to kill the current AHA leader Finch
by saying he was the one who let Rotjaw out
