I have an iPad Air 2 Version 14.4.2 for over a year now and no jailbreak is done for it and it seems that theyre making an iOS15 jb and i think they just forgot about us?? Do you think i should upgrade for ios 15 or no?

well, we don't know what devices fugu15 will support and you can't get to 15.1 for cheyote

Don’t update yet. Save blobs and wait for a Jailbreak. If a jailbreak comes out for 14.4.2 first, then you will be able to just jailbreak your current version. But if a jailbreak for ios 15.5 comes before that, you can then upgrade with your shsh2 blob to the newest jailbreakable version and jailbreak that.

by the time a 15.5 jailbreak comes, ios 16 will probably be out already, and 15.x will be unsigned

and since ios 16 SEP/BB is incompatible, you can’t go to 15.5

You can still jailbreak with checkra1n it's not impossible but the success rate isn't that great
