#Checkra1n jailbreak gives Exploit Failed message with error code -31

hey, i'm currently trying to use checkra1n on an iPhone 5s running iOS 12.5.5, and just after the "Right before trigger" step, it gives me the message "Exploit Failed (Error code: -31" and the device stays in DFU mode. i've tried again from "normal mode" and the same result happened. i have NO clue what's happening because i think my phone fits the criteria.

Checkra1n issues for A7 Devices on Linux Hosts
Checkra1n won’t really work for a7 devices on a Linux Host. You will need to do a replug trick and may even need to use an older version of Checkra1n.

honestly imo just don’t bother with checkra1n unless you have a Mac, it’s a the pain in the ass and sometimes it still won’t work for whatever reason

There’s other options which require far less jank to actually work (though aren’t entirely perfect, but that’s not really a surprise)
