iPod touch Gen 6, IOS 12.4.8
Downloaded and installed the patcher app (ChimeraPatcher 1.6.5) onto my device following the guide from ios.cfw.guide, using the chimera_patch addition as on that website.

Upon clicking the patch button, it recieves my interaction and does it's thing.
Then the screen to go black (it remains powered with backlight still on, but nothing is displayed, not even OS UI).
It then crashes to the home.

See video. Moment where video "freezes" and cuts to desktop is when the screen goes black.

What I've tried:
Rebooting and immedeitly clicking the button.
Waiting a few minutes before hitting button after reboot
Trying multiple times back to back.
Doing it both with and without being plugged into my charger and/or laptop.

As you can see, for that attempt, my device was ~95% charged, which I saw can impact things.

#

(It's model number is A1574 / MKWM2ZP/A too)

#

It's storage isn't low at all either, it's got ~120GB free on disk

Chimera's success rate is poor and can take multiple attempts to successfully jailbreak, especially on older devices.

Chimera's success rate can be greatly improved on some devices by injecting the chimera_patch dylib. The easiest way to accomplish this is by downloading the compiled .dylib file from the GitHub repo, and injecting it into the Chimera .ipa with Sideloadly by expanding the "Advanced Options" window and enabling the "Inject dylibs/frameworks" option. Then, proceed like normal.

Additionally, you may also download and install a pre-patched .ipa file by visiting https://jailbreaks.app on the device you wish to jailbreak, navigating to the "Apps" tab on the bottom, expanding the "Jailbreaks" category, and finally choosing the "Chimera (Patched)" app.

Please note that, while chimera_patch is open source, it does modify the .ipa and thus can be considered an unofficial patch. If you are not comfortable with doing this, you may follow the steps listed below.

Tips to increase success rate

  • Update to the latest Chimera version (ideally 1.6.5 or later)
  • Make sure the device is charged above 20%
  • Reboot after a failed attempt
  • Wait 60 seconds before jailbreaking after a reboot/failed attempt
  • Turn low power mode off
  • Put your device in front of an air conditioner or fan

I've given this a read when i looked through all the other posts here about chimera. I've done all of these steps bar putting the damn thing in the freezer lmao.

#

I'd do that but I would be concerned about condensation

#

okay... it got to 3/3 randomly, displays a splash of their logo, and is now rebooting...

#

promising...
