Hi, I've got a sealed and unactivated iPhone 6S+ that I snagged in a phone lot on eBay. When I got it, it was stuck in recovery mode on iOS 9. My phone collector friend advised that I should replace the battery as it wasn't holding a charge anyways. After doing that it is still stuck in recovery mode. Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I leave it? Is there any way to save blobs from it in recovery mode? Can I update to iOS 10 somehow?

@mortal bloom Thanks for creating a new thread!

Boot into a SSH ramdisk with legacy iOS kit and save blobs, restore to iOS 15, then use turdus merula to go back to iOS 9 with the blobs you saved previously
Is there a tutorial I can follow to do that? Isn’t turdus merula tethered? How can I go about activating iOS 9?
It’s not tethered if you save the blobs during iOS 9
Makes sense, it works even in recovery mode though?
How can I go about activating it?
save blobs
update
activate
backup tickets
find a way to restore tickets
enjoy phone
Is ther a tutorial I can use to do this?
not with legacyioskit, I tried with recboot but that app is so dated
I'll try legacyioskit
battery was replaced with a new one
yeah for some reason legacyioskit worked to kick it out 🤣
why didn’t anyone suggest that LMAO??
I just deleted setup.app too, its on the home screen lfggggg
since i did that it's still technically unactivated too
oh was it not activating
?
