I had to upgrade to iOS 17.0.1 from jailbroken iOS 14 after my 2017 iPad stuck in a bootloop. So I lost checkrain. I can still go palerain though.
I'm a relatively casual user, and I mostly used checkrain for YouTube without ads, appstore++, dolphin emulator and sideloading some apps. Can I still do this ? And what else would you recommend?
It feels really weird to ask something so basic, but since not many casual users still jailbreak, I didn't find it easy to find the answer myself. I appreciate your time.

Trollstore will still work on 17.0.1, but it won't be persistent after you reboot. so it only persists as long as the jailbreak does

the only thing is that palera1n is rootless
some tweaks may not work
but installing most of what you said should fully work on ipados 17
If you want more tweak suggestion I suggest to go on youtube or reddit there you will find most of this stuff jsut make sure to look for key words like IpadOS 17 or PaleRa1N since youtube will have a lot of scam videos probably (you will likely see some scam vids on youtube just ignore them like I said and on reddit just look for something like list of working ipados 17 tweaks or r/jb )

I would recommend starting by installing trollstore from the palera1n repo (appsync alternative) then installing what ever apps you want
for package managers use the native palera1n package managers (sileo or zebra both are simple to understand)

no, you can install newterm 2 or 3 (3 is beta)
and i don't use rootless so i don't know of any issues, i would go to the palera1n server if you have any (they dont help with rootful, but i do)

Hey. Thanks for the info! For now I'm stuck at an earlier step. I'm trying to install via Palen1x , but " device times out waiting for download mode". I tried unplugging and replugging, restarting the process, rewriting the USB (I'm using windows) and different cable .
