#[SOLVED] idevicerestore error: Device failed to enter restore mode.

hey, I'm trying to restore my device to 16.3.1 using libidevicerestore. to do this I'm running idevicerestore --latest as root.

the device can't seem to enter restore mode, though. instead it enters recovery mode and idevicerestore shows the following error:

Waiting for device to enter restore mode...
irecv_event_cb: device 00051d0c3428003a (udid: N/A) connected in Recovery mode
ERROR: Device failed to enter restore mode.
Please make sure that usbmuxd is running.

usbmuxd is running (as root), not sure what else to say there.

here's the last few successful steps before this happens:

DEBUG: tss_response_get_path_by_entry: No entry 'RestoreKernelCache' in TSS response
NOTE: No path for component RestoreKernelCache in TSS, will fetch from build_identity
Extracting kernelcache.release.iphone11b (kernelcache.release.iphone11b)...

phone is currently on 13.5, and was jailbroken with unc0ver. before trying to restore I uninstalled all tweaks & restored rootfs through unc0ver.

this doesn't brick the device, I can exit recovery with libirecovery, but I would like to figure out how to get the update working.

I would try recovering though itunes, but the only computer I have rn is linux. I've tried restoring using a windows vm w/ qemu but I couldn't get the usb passthrough to work automatically so when the device restarted it couldn't continue the restore. if there's a way to get this working instead of idevicerestore, that would also help.

what version of idevicerestore is installed?

#

try this @quasi saffron: sudo apt-get install \ build-essential \ pkg-config \ checkinstall \ git \ autoconf \ automake \ libtool-bin \ libreadline-dev \ libusb-1.0-0-dev \ libplist-dev \ libimobiledevice-dev \ libimobiledevice-glue-dev \ libcurl4-openssl-dev \ libssl-dev \ libzip-dev \ zlib1g-dev

#

then: git clone https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libirecovery.git cd libirecovery ./autogen.sh make sudo make install cd ..
