find a file manager
I would suggest not using the jailbreak (both of them) unless you know what you're doing to prevent further damage
use filza or santander if you have either installed
search for the “passwd” file
there should be a unix executable one
run that
lets you reset root password without knowing old
inb4 "I've locked myself out.. can I reset?"
oh wsit this is the fungu15 kid
stop trying or you'll end up bootlooping yourself
I am backing out as soon as I get back to a good state.
Just enjoy company with family, celebrate christmas and maybe new years, things'll be stable
should've stayed backed out prior..
austin what is your obsession with installing dev jailbreaks
I am a developer. Not a jailbreak developer but still a developer.
what do you develop
You'll laugh if I tell you.
i wont

Web Dev
HAHAHAHHAHAHA
broken pinky promise
💔
btw being a web dev isnt excuse to use dev jbs
theyre for jb devs for a reason
because unstable
arent meant to be used end user
No, but I've also had interest in things like this too. I thought I might get into it a little bit and learn.
I know the risks
dont come for support if you get bootlooped then
on fugu
on xina its up to anyone to give support icl
wait I have libterm. If I get a binary of passwd then I will be able to reset it to alpine. along with root. I do know the passwords.
yes
i am never microdosing on the weekdays again. I am going to give this a go and see if the jb works.
i dont think you should be microdosing at all
cough backout while you still can
Executing passwd gives me root. However changing the password is not sticking. /etc/master.7KaLhX Read-Only file system
where are you executing it
Xina jb is broken, they are using a rooted procursus and trying to use it rootless
Changing passwords will not work
If this is rootless couldn't I just delete the files in procursus folder?
Then start over
cat /etc/passwd >/var/jb/etc/passwd && cat /etc/master.passwd >/var/jb/etc/master.passwd
Then run pwd_mkdb with the correct args (which I don't remember right now, check the manpage)
????
DUH
Xina is not fully rootless which is the issue
Nobody should be using it
i need to find this URL rn
MEMO_TARGET=iphoneos-arm64-rootless MEMO_CFVER=1800 make bootstrap
Thanks Cameron for this good info.
I am going to be generating the new passwd file like so
pwd_mkdb -p /etc/master.passwd
Is that the correct path?
No, you need to add -d /var/jb/etc or something
Okay so we added the file contents of /etc/passwd and /etc/master.passwd to /var/jb/etc/passwd and /var/etc/mater.passwd respectively.
Then by running pwd_mkdb we regenerate the password db to the given directory using the -d flag to /var/jb/etc
pwd_mkdb -d /var/jb/etc $FILE
Sorry I am familiar with linux but I have never done something like this before. I am trying to understand fully.
Not sure what the file should be for the pwd_mkdb command
/var/jb/etc/master.passwd not /var/etc
And the pwd_mkdb command will create /var/jb/etc/pwd.db from /var/jb/etc/master.passwd
